I really was super excited for this title because we all know I have an undying love for Kamenashi Kazuya. Bonus points for it being a gritty detective series. The setup is that there is a new division of the police department that can monitor all security cameras around the city.  The public is wary of it as it is seen as an invasion of privacy.

KAT-TUN's "Roar" is the opening song, it is their 28th single to be released. For more details, visit https://roar-kattun-15.com/, 「Roar」Official Twitter or https://twitter.com/kattun_0322. This year is their 15th anniversary as a group and I feel lucky they found the time to do any dramas. For more on their career: J-Pop Group KAT-TUN's OST Legacy

Meet the characters

Fushimi Kyosuke

The main protagonist has a sad past that is revealed in episode 1.  He has anger issues that still need to be resolved.  He has been brought into the department because he was one of the best detectives before the tragedy hit.  In between now and then he was working as a private detective and built his own team.

Shimabara Yuri [KSBC Director}

She knew Fushimi from when he was a detective and knew his skills and brought him on the team.  She will place her job before anything else including her own well-being.

Nagashino Fumika [Information analyst]

We have only ever seen her in front of the computer as of episode 4 but she is all about rules and the right way to do things. When is a pinch, she will do her best to fill her role as next in command.

Yamazaki Tatsujiro [Profiler]

He is an ex-cop that is an excellent profiler. In episode 4, we learn more about him, why he is classified as a criminal, and why Fushimi sees him as an invaluable part of the team.

Minatogawa Yumiko [Former Self-Defense Forces member]

We know she has a child her mother is helping to raise.  She is very good with tactics and hand-to-hand combat. She has been on Fushimi's team for a while it seems because they know details about each other. She is classified as a criminal and we find out why by episodes 2 and 3.

Komaki Kaname [Hacker]

We know nothing of his character as of episode 4. Other than he is a hacker, and he learns quickly when he sees something has merit.

Overall, the story is focused on the criminals they are catching and on building the team. I have only seen up to episode 4 and cannot wait for the next episodes to come out. So far it has pulled no punches and is definitely a darker detective drama. By adding the civilian/ex-criminal angle to the show, it adds a spin most shows in the genre do not have.

So I would definitely recommend it if you like this genre or dark dramas in general. I cannot wait to see how it ends or if there will be more seasons. It definitely feels like the beginning of something big. But who knows?!
