Monotonous

My opinion of this series.
- Quick plot: The villians, their relationship, their intentions, are exposed in the early episodes (1 - 4) Thereafter, it seems the screenwriter ran out of ideas and thumb sucked the rest of the episodes. This is what makes the rest of the episodes monotonous.
Even the villians were drinking tea out of boredom, because they already achieved their goal.

The series should be named "Kings of tears." The male actors are crying in every episode.

The FL should have been made the villian - she is skilled at it, hence her role in the series "The Heirs "
She is not good at being affectionate or showing emotions.
The ML was behaving as if it's "HIS" last days on earth. Viewers should be informed that the ML has swallowed a river.
The aunt of the FL is an "overacto"r
The rest of the acting was partially okay.

The music was nice.

Rewatching is not worth it, unless I feel like irritating myself.

THE MOST INCREDIBLE WUXIA DRAMA I'VE EVER WATCHED

I began watching it out of boredom. Btw, I am not really a fan of cdrama, just a casual watcher of some good dramas out there tgt with kdrama and jodrama.. BUT THIS ONE BECAME MY STARTING POINT TO GET OBSESSED WITH CDRAMAS!! I am wanting for more coz this is THAT GOOD!! And CHENG YI!! I BECAME HIS FAN INSTANTLY!! I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S INTO HIM BUT I GOT HOOKED AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START!! I JUST LOVE HIM THAT MUCH!! ?

I'M SORRY! LET'S GO BACK TO REVIEWING THE DRAMA!!

This is really good! I'm lost for words!! Usually I really skip scenes but this one, I didn't skip anything and sometimes I repeat scenes coz I want more!! (Specially the dance LXY had!! It was soooo mesmerizing ugh!!) EVERYTHING IS REALLY GOOD HERE! The actors, actings, osts, storyline, the plot and settings! It was perfect (well atleast imo hehe)

If you are hesitating to start coz there's no romance, you better start it nowwwww!! You don't really need romance to make the drama incredible (imo hehe) And I love the friendship here!!! It was beautiful and tbh I want someone like xiaobao in my lifetoo coz he is a keeper!!! I wanna keep him!! TT

I LOVE IT!! THAT'S IT! AND I WANNA REWATCH IT!! ❤️❤️

Lovely!

This is my favorite drama I’ve watched this year. It was entertaining, it didn’t feel like there were filler episodes, and the acting was phenomenal! Honestly, the only thing that was kind of a drag for me was the last episode felt like it dragged just a bit. It was clear it was the last episode and it felt like they were padding to hit that 1h30m time the other episodes had.

I’m a bit surprised others didn’t like this as much as I did, but to each their own. It’s a strong recommend from me. The plot was never boring, the twists were good, and it was just genuinely a joy to watch.

Out of the other 4 dramas I’ve watched this year, this was hands down my favorite so far.

Beautiful cinematography & riveting storyline

First multi-episodes drama I was able to complete in the last decade.
Not really what you would expect of an espionage drama, especially for a story from that era.
I love how all the plots nicely came together without any lose ends. But personally, I do wish one of the character had better ending.
Really recommended for those who are looking for good mainland drama that is not one of those overused costume drama plots.

Terribly Overrated Misery P×rn

Let me say it straight: this drama is bad and doesn't deserve the overblown ratings. "What the hell, Tate? Are you even human? Do you have a heart? How can you say that about the sweetest little sob story of an elderly man pursuing ballet?!" Well, that's the thing. The writer took a tear-jerking concept and wrote a very lazy, sanitized, redundant, non-conflicted in of itself screenplay that relies completely on evoking the feeling of pity from the viewers. The cheesy mellow overbearing piano soundtracks make the impression twice worse. This K-drama is bordering with misery porn.

Everybody is trying to make it in this world. Everybody is fighting their own battles. In the beginning, it's fairly interesting to see how the 70 y.o. Deok Chul is maneuvering between his health issues and his disapproving family to learn ballet. But in the end we don't get a story of a resilient man, all we get is "look how much he loves ballet and how hard it must be for him, poor grandpa!" Lee Chae Rok is not an interesting character either. He is a kind boy who's always helping the grandpa out and waits for a breakthrough in ballet that doesn't seem to be his top priority. I'm especially disappointed in the supporting characters, the Deok Chul's granddaughter who leaves a job to seek her calling and Deok Chul's son who retires from medicine and wanders around town in his old Crocs. Neither of them get a satisfying ending because they both settle in a conventional place making the whole plot line feel like a teenage angst.

Not to mention that to prioritize the grandpa's safety while he's learning ballet there would have to be at least a physiotherapist in the room. Stretching can be traumatic even for young and healthy people. How can a literal boy make a training program for an elderly person when he has no qualifications in the medical field? In this case I would like the retired son to be involved, it would benefit the story.

I would not recommend the show to the fans of psychological dramas and to the fans of Song Kang because he doesn't seem as the main character here. All the complicated ballet dancing scenes are shot with a stunt double even though the actor was committed to learning ballet for 6 months prior. It's just not worth it.

If you’re on the fence, pleas watch this.

Not the full review as the show isn’t finished but to everyone on the fence about it, it’s 1000% worth a shot. The review score doesn’t do it justice.

It’s a high budget Korean sci-fi show which is already super rare. Has great acting, cinematography and an engaging political story. The writing is fantastic and very unique, more similar to that of a western show (which generally have 100x better writing), reminds me a lot of The Bodyguard on Netflix so if you enjoyed that then this is straight up your alley.

The character introductions at the start were quite poor so it took me a bit to figure out who was who, and there are some weird moments (not in the sense of being strange but more so that they don’t fit in the story and should have been removed during editing). Besides that it’s really really good.

IT'S ABOUT LOVE ,NOT JUST A ROMANTIC ONE BUT SELF LOVE, FAMILY LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP.

It might not be drama that everyone prefers . But we, people in general avoid the real life when in seek for dramas or books mostly so that might be a reason why many people would avoid this drama. It shows real life problems , talks about death , about family values, about bad or good friendships , there wasn't any villain or totally negative character in this drama as it seeks the real life and real people more. Even though there were some ppl with not so of a positive approach, their circumstance and reasons for being that way was portrayed

Sensational, Inspiring, and Healing!

"August" is a warm and inspiring documentary story about director Zhang Zhehan. This documentary debut is beautifully performed with breathtaking cinematography and sensational narration. This film makes me realize that no matter what evil or hardship we experience in life, only by keeping going on and never giving up on ourselves, eventually we will see the truth, goodness and beauty of the real world. And along the way, we can even realize our dreams and create our own miracles! Look what an achievement director Zhang Zhehan has accomplished with numerous music credits and awards in less than three years after he lost everything in his career! 《August》is definitely a film with hope, serenity, and strength!

Should be called King of Tears and Ice Maiden

This is a single layer story about a greedy woman who abandoned her son and coiled herself around a rich ceo to inherit all hus wealth by destroying his family. And she is truly wicked - doesn't shy from murder, sending her own child away to America etc etc.

In this straight layer you then have multiple players who are entangled. Then there are subsets to these people.
Simple, boring, clichéd, seen that before, yawn.

What then races these dramas to the top are the players and their nuances - both of which are absent here.

Let's start with the players.
Stand out performances by Grace (the spy), the FL wimpy brother, the FL secretary, the ML attorney friend and the bad villain (abandoned son)..

And now the leads:
One would think that if the premise is love/marriage /divorce/remarriage to same person, then there has to be an iota of chemistry.. Should they not test this in the audition? Maybe the stars are so big they discarded the auditions.
So Alas Alas - here we have to use our wildest imagination and fantasy to assume the two are madly in love.- because frankly they behave like they are allergic to each other.

There is not one heart fluttering moment between them, no sizzle, no intimacy, no intensity.
We have miss ice maiden who is mean to the ML through ep.15 and then agrees to hold his hand in16.
We have the king of tears who spends 80% of his screen time with wet eyes.

What a pitiful drama.

I think k dramas need to stop focusing on these so called big regional stars and get back to making their old classic story line with real actors.

Think about it - we've had 3 dumps already in 2024 with hot shot actors :
Doctor Slump, Welcome to Samdalri, and now this Queen of tears........all dramas that totally missed the point.

If I could I would have given zero!

The story is stupid, trashy and cringe to an extreme degree. The protagonist with glasses is so stupid that he becomes obnoxious and annoying. There is nothing salvageable, nothing beautiful or decent in this series. But how do you come up with such rubbish? It's a shame, with this series they missed an excellent opportunity to not make a bad impression.

Too Bloody

I initially wanted to watch it, but after i saw some clips or basically scrolled through the entire movie, I was utterly Disgusted by the gore and bloody, as someone who cannot handle bloody gore scenes, I dropped this movie as it was too bloody and disgusting, however I loved the actors and actresses and Seo in-Guk acting is Awesome! Unlike the previous roles he played, he managed to act out the character realistically, and honestly i was shocked at how well he was able to portray a villain, but I didn’t really understood the story, like everybody died at the end of the movie except one, like what?! overall it was just too bloody to watch and i suggest that those with a weak stomach or cannot handle blood to not watch it

Hopeful Bond Against the Dark Odds

“It bothers me when one out of every seven of us is missing. I don’t know why, but I just don’t like it. I hope we can be all together. When we are all together, I don’t even think about wanting to die.”

I've live to this day to watch this drama adaptation of BU and I'm glad it's really good. They did an amazing job on the build up between the characters and their relationships, along with the actors' portrayal and chemistry. From the awkward first meetings to building trust with each other and getting closer together. I love watching their friendship and brotherhood despite their different backgrounds and problems. This drama is heartwarming with the precious found family trope. But at the same time, the dark themes about their childhood traumas and family secrets are so emotional and intriguing. It's only 4 episodes so far in their highschool part and I'm already feeling many emotions. More revelations and twists will come in the later episodes. I can't wait for more angst and I'm especially excited to see the part when the time travel/loop starts.

A hot and cheesy mess.

Though hardly original, this drama's switched bride trope is well executed and entertaining. A very shady prime minister marries his illegitimate daughter Shen Keyi to Wen Ye, a prince and the country's God of War posthumously. As it turns out, Wen Ye is very much alive and full of suspicion when he discovers himself married to his enemy's daughter. Meanwhile Shen Keyi is tasked by her stepmother to steal a jade token from Wen Ye in exchange for her beloved nanny's wellbeing. Their early antics are silly but very funny. It was great to watch an older and jaded general fall for a lively, natural and utterly beguiling young girl. The leads have good chemistry and both actors deliver convincing performances. I also enjoyed the comedic banter between Wen Ye and his two sidekicks.

At twelve episodes this drama was hilariously hot and cheesy but by twenty-four episodes it turned into a hot and cheesy mess. The palace plot becomes increasingly convoluted and absurd and both lead's adorable silliness descends into stupidity and melodrama as they navigate multiple obstacles. Ultimately, the much simpler love story between the princess and the guard moved me more. The ending is a bit rushed but it was actually pretty good in the messiest way possible. All considered not the worst drama to watch to just pass some time. I rate it 6.5/10.0

strong start, weak ending

The story has many plot holes but i still enjoyed it very much, until the last two episodes where the story started to make litteraly no sense. As many review say, the ending felt rushed, but also boring at the same time. I haven't read the webtoon so i can't compare the two but i still felt like we were missing some informations for the story to make sens. It really felt like it should have been a 16ep long drama but they suddenly had to make it shorter.

Nonetheless i think it is worth watching, particularly for the cast and the romance which were both amazing. I would have rated it at least 8 if it wasn't for the last episodes.
