To shaman or not to shaman

It's technically a generation battle of shamanism between an evil mystical being and the Cheon clan, led by the untalented grandson of the chief shaman for revenge, overall it has great visual effects and cinematography. However the direction of the storyline somehow felt lost, it's using a mix of both practical combat and psychic powers for the fights, which gets muddled on whether the movie is trying to be tactical or mystical, because even the resolution part gets the same treatment. Just like its intro part when they're showing how shamanism is a con with staged props to scam money, but then afterwards the whole movie turns out to be a huge shaman battle, it's quite contradicting at some point.

The plot was INSANE! It's just the perfect mix of romance, horror, science fiction, and a slice of life. From my perspective, this show delves deeply into the concept of time travel, and it illustrates that if you change something in the past, the future changes as well. Furthermore, in my opinion, everything that's going to happen has a purpose and a reason behind it; this show, "Someday or One Day," explains it perfectly. The only thing I am confused about is how Mo Jun Jie's hearing aid ended up at the crime scene where Chen Yu Ru was attacked. Perhaps Xie Zhi Qi tried to frame Mo Jun Jie...

It was anticlimactic...

***DISCLAIMER: These are just my thoughts while watching the show. We don’t have to agree and I’m not here to argue with anyone.***

Tropes: sports romance, boxing, age gap, coming of age, grumpy/sunshine.

Idk... this was one of those dramas I started out of boredom. To be fair I felt like the entire drama was slow and the romance was subpar / lackluster. It only started getting interesting with the betting ring and when the men kept on kidnapping him and threatening him but they did not do enough to really develop that plot and make it compelling. Then with ML best friend dying... that just felt like a lazy way for the writer to give him some trauma so he'd turn over a new leaf and try to exit the rigged games he was participating in. I just felt depleted after all that and then to see FL lose the match at the end and not be able to end her career and retire on a high note sucked. The ending was not good, to put it nicely. I felt like that kiss high key came out of nowhere... I feel like it ended with more questions rather than answers. Like what exactly happened to the ML, why did the gun shot go off, why was ML bleeding, why did he disappear for months?

Usually I am one of those people who enjoys a reformed bad guy because he met a girl but this just completely missed the mark with me. Not to mention the FLs first relationship / bf just pissed me right off... he basically was using her so he wouldn't be unemployed then he turned around and became an agent? Spare me... if I was in sports I would not go to that man or trust him with anything.

I really wanted to rate this higher because I enjoyed Lee Sang Yeob's acting... I really feel like he put a lot of effort into his character and during his scenes you could feel the emotion dripping from the screen. It must have something to do with his really expressive eyes. Not to mention, he's good looking and has this floppy puppy dog thing about his mannerisms. His smirk / smile got me every-time and I really empathized with his character and wanted to see him win and get out of the mess he was in. But again, one man is not able to carry an entire show. I thought that the villain, Mr Kim Oh Bok (Park Ji Hwan) also did a good job of selling the role of the menacing ring leader of sorts and the FLs dad (Kim Hyung Mook) was also a scene stealer. I feel like this was Kim So Hye's debut in acting.. with that did she did ok for a first project but there are aspects of her acting that she can improve. Having said that, I'm sure she'll improve as she takes on more roles or receives more training.

Overall, I would not rewatch this drama and I'd say it is forgettable and I probably won't remember it much in the next couple of months. Nevertheless it was a good distraction and kind of kept me entertained when I had nothing else to watch.

I'd really rate this a 5.5/10 but I rounded it up to 6/10 because I did enjoy the acting and storyline to an extent... it's just that it could have been better executed and developed.

Would I recommend it to others? No, probably not. Unless you are a Sang Yeob fan and want to watch for his scenes, there's really no point. I'm not going to say anything else but if you don't trust my opinion then you should watch it and come to your own conclusions / judgments.

Love

Just finished this one, and love love it! I liked Feng Shao Feng from The Story of Ming Lan and in this one, I really like his role as Liu Yan. His character as protective but not over bearing suit him really well. I also like Jing Tian here, and both of them made really great chemistry.
This is NOT wuxia or xianxia, this is imperial drama. So, it is a bit on the slow pacing. Not a lot of fighting, lots of scheming, lots of unexpected but expected twists. Also, the story or the idea, is very bold, dreamy, can't be more fiction than this. It is a lot easier to imagine flying gods and goddess than female official entangled in out of wedlock relationship ? But the love relationship was beautifully done. If you like Dream of Splendor, The Sword and the Brocade, Destined, then you might like The Legend of Zhouhua.
Bonus: OST/MV are beautiful:
明明 (Clearly) by Zhou Shen 周深
灼心 (Scorching Heart) by Liu Yuning 刘宇宁

And they called it puppy love

This is a highly anticipated drama that I am so satisfied with for once. I know the limitations that come with anticipation, and from the actors and all parties involved. I could either fully love or fully hate, this one I am stepping back and will just say that it’s not living up to expectations because I really didn’t have any.. but it’s actually really good.

for the first time in a while for me I’ve found a romantic comedy with an absurd idea but this time the drama does it right by going full comedy. This drama is truly a comedy and the ideas and scenes all meshing together make it a fun watch, and one where I still care about the characters and their relationships.

The music fits very well with the drama and so far the casting is perfect for me. The female lead has puppy like mannerisms in some scenes that I had to rewatch because she is too cute, Park Gyu-young is another actress I haven’t seen too much of. I hadn’t seen any romantic comedy of hers before but she is so fitting for this role. She has this energetic charm to her and her whole situation of being cursed is fun to see play out, especially how she got into that situation.

Cha Eun Woo is so wholesome and cute and I love him with all my heart. I can see his role developing and I’m looking forward to it. It’s not too much for him and he’s doing what he does, and I think that’s fine and I really enjoy it. He’s got this presence to him that is charming and lead male material, and he fills those shoes pretty well. Lee Hyun-Woo is finally back to a romantic comedy and is just how I remember him, a more matured and cute guy now-

This drama goes all in with its idea and doesn’t take it self too seriously. It balances everything nicely and I’ll add more as the show progresses, so far I’m looking forward to it and am so happy to finally have a good romantic comedy in 2023 that feels like a romantic comedy.

decent show

decent show, some violence though
k2 was the first kdrama i watched and although i had some mixed opinions about it as i was watching it, i definitely felt like the show was worth watching.

the storyline is quite unique, along with the male lead and female lead’s lifestyle.

ALSO THEYRE LITERALLY SUCH A CUTE COUPLE like i love their romance because its so sweet.

ive probably watched the k2 about 4-5 times (im not too sure why tbh) but i still enjoyed it everytime for many reasons

im not too sure if i would recommend this show to everyone, feels like the kind of show some people would drop because the story gets a bit slow, but if your into the themes listed in the show, and you like watching kdramas, i would definitely recommend.

Watch for the comedy, not the romance.

Rolled on the floor laughing at their humor, very creative and unrepetitive. Multiple plot twist at the end that twisted so much the writer lost control of their own narrative and storyline. Ignored plotholes just to make the plot more thrilling. Unfortunately, the relationship between ML and FL is not reinforced at the end, feel forced. Even the side character relationships are more entertaining to watch than this couple. The crime is mediocre and doesn't make sense at the end (due to plot twists). An innocent bystander ended up solving the whole case and providing the evidence to catch the murderer, doing more than ML and FL risking their lives investigating all movie.

Watch if you can ignore a dumb story for the laughs and cries.

Topnotch story, amazing ensemble acting superstars and perfect direction

????? 5/5! Highly recommended to watch with its intricate storytelling, character depth, acting performances, emotional resonance, and the finale's nonstop action!

This is the best webtoon turned Korean superhero TV series for me (I think this is also the Best Korean Drama this year.)
Han Hyoo Joo, Ryu Seung Ryong, Jo In Sung, Go Yun Jung, and almost all other casts including even the villains are fantastically written. The webtoon writer Kang Full is also the same as their screenwriter so you can imagine how top-notch writing was overwhelmingly done.

It's like John Wick, Xmen, and Crazy Little Thing Called Love movies are all rolled into one. If you haven't joined the craze over this series, please see for yourself.

Best Part of the Series:

- Han Hyo Joo and Jo In Sung's electrifying chemistry. Can anyone please hear me when I say, these two should have another separate K-Series?
- Ryu Seung Ryong's dramatic chop. I will say in advance he will win the Daesang with that performance.
- Go Yung Jung's acting. She is one of the rookie actresses I think will really become someone very popular in the future.
- Han Hyo Joo's chameleon acting talent. She just played a school student (in a flashback scene) for the series Happiness and just a couple of months after ending taping the show, she is acting already as a mom. And boy, her acting is soooo believable.

Fave scenes:

- When Lee Jaeman unleashed the hell out of nowhere and beat 2 powerful North Koreans to a pulp that they couldn't even fight back. Imagine if Kang Hoon gets proper training to be as strong as his dad.
- 2 Daddies of the Year Ju Won and Jae Man teaming up!
- Lee Mi Hyun shows the true range of her superhuman senses. She has more kills in the finale than the rest. Mother is truly mothering.
- Kim Bongseukie and Heesoo's late tactic against the flying villain
- The villain's helpless and pitiful backstories.

People will do whatever it takes to survive; those who will not do so are bound to perish.

— Review Part 1 —

People will do whatever it takes to survive; those who will not do so are bound to perish.

It is a very well-written story, and although it cannot be considered historically perfect, I found it to be largely accurate.

Romance might be at the centre, but its historical war setting plays just as big a role, too. Its intense focus on the ruthlessness of war, neatly tackling transformation, development, longing, loss and the deep unfairness of life, is nothing less than top-notch.

My Dearest not only explores life in times of war but people's reactions to it, and as such, war is questioned by many of the characters from different perspectives.

Of course, in times of war, prisoners were victims of constant physical and psychological abuse, torture and humiliation, and the unfairness of it all could reach inhumane limits.
The women were the target of rape and sexual abuse and were even expected to take their own lives if there was so much as an encounter with an enemy because, to society and their families, they were not pure anymore.

It is outstanding how most of our main characters show a grey moral character and emotional flaws, and their bad traits receive as much attention, or even more, than the good ones.

The costumes, scenery, cinematography and realistic scenes of the horrors of war are the best I've seen in a sageuk.

A must-watch.

24 episode would've been better

i love the plot soo much, it's very interesting to see ancient character in the modern world and i feel like the story was well-told. here's the thing, towards the end of this series it started getting boring and i barely made it through the last 9 episodes for some reason, they could've done the solution/ending of the plot wayyyy better.
overall this drama was really good at the beginning and it gradually got stretched.
the ending wasn't as memorable or complete in my opinion and i feel like they left some things out tho i can't tell what those things are, at the same time so many unnecessary things happened the last few episodes.
(this is my first review idk how to express my opinions, apologies)

Keep walking. I will be right behind you.

This was one of the movies I had been procrastinating due to the heavy theme ─ although I heard nothing but positive reviews about it. It truly deserves recognition and praise, and no wonder has been one of the most memorable c-movies for many.

While the theme is quite heavy, it also needs a careful and realistic approach, which I think they did right. There wasn't any glorification or gaslighting. It was raw and candid. The characters, of course, had flaws ─ even the main lead because she also, like others, chose silence before becoming a victim ─ but those flaws were understandable and for some, relatable.

One of the aspects I like is that they hinted that bullies became the people they are because of their parents, but they didn't use it as an excuse to demand redemption from the audience. Because at the end of the day, it was their own choice to become that person and not a better person.

The acting was really authentic, especially when they used silence and their eyes to deliver emotions. Cinematography and soundtrack, as well as symbolism they used, were phenomenal, added another layer of depth and a fresh point of view to the story. Love the dialogues as well. They are so beautiful and meaningful.

I'm glad I finally gathered my courage to watch this movie and also glad that they gave us a glimpse of hopeful ending.

the acting is crazy

first i’d like to say i just started this because of rowoon. i wasn’t expecting anything from it but it’s actually so good. i watch it really fast like in 2 days or something. the storyline is good but not great. the thing i love the most about it is the acting. both rowoon and bo ah shows the emotions really well. i feel like it’s happening right in front of me when im watching it. especially the scenes in the past, like when aeng cho died i literally cried for 2 hours and it wasnt even that emotional, but the acting was top notch so i cried a lot. it was funny too. i laughed so hard sometimes.
the mist memorable scene was the octopus scene i think. it was so funny and cute, i watched it like 19 times.
the chemistry between them is also amazing they look like an actual couple.
overall it’s really good and you should definitely give it a shot!
