When there is Choi Hyun Wook in a comedy you are sure to laugh. He is really great in that kind of character. Ryeoun does a good job too as a rookie actor. Even tho it is obvious he is still lacking here and there. The story line isn’t that innovative. We’ve seen it before. The direction it takes as well. And we kind of have a hint of how the ending is going to play. But being aware of it doesn’t make it less enjoyable. The comedy and how it is directed make it easily enjoyable. Hyun Wook makes it very easy too.

My time and effort in watching this drama was not wasted. I didn't like historical dramas before and for sure I just watch this one because of the cast. But I did started opening my heart for historical dramas because of this one as well. The story is well written considering that it's not really romance-centric but more on the Melo plus thriller/action genre which I also like. Iljimae may be a 2008 drama, but one of the best historical dramas that is still worth watching even up this time.

Why so many have missed this ?
Everything about this drama was great. Even the length shouldn’t be longer. Best performances from both main actors. People are going to sau “My name” bu Han So hee is incredible in romance dramas and even more in romance/jealousy dramas. She gives such purity to her character, something we rarely seen from her. so why 8.5?Well as the title says “soundtrack” the music should have been better. The soundtrack, the song written process. Everything that deals with music should have been much more better. But as the rest follow we say amen.

This drama is quite likely more on the mature type since it has that realistic flow storyline though for me I was not that into it since I just don't like the genre. Maybe I did watch this is because of female lead which is acted by Soo Ae and I really like her other dramas.
Not a fan of this drama, maybe those who like this type of genre can go for it.

A real-life legend who created a martial arts guild in Joseon Dynasty. His group that defends the King is fighting against a mysterious organization of assassins who plot to kill the King... We got all wonderful friendships, bromance, brotherhood and painful rivalry. A lot of sword fights between enemies and comrades who has just silently sitting next to each other. The acting were so moving and beautiful! All the kid actors enchanted me in less than 4 episodes and I wanted to see their journeys. Also their teen actors, all of them portrayed their characters very well and distinct. It has a stunning choreography and epic OST. The politics are quite confusing and complicated, but I ignored it and focused on the characters and their bonds, it works!
Despite my strong praises, there are shortcomings which actually bothered me throughout, plot is quite messy with a lot of unrealistic twists, with long drags in the middle. (SPOILER!) At a point I lost interest when there’s a twist that really diminish the relevance of the leads, and this infuriated me, why they end up to be so unimportant to the story? So I wasn’t enjoying watching the last quarter episodes and finish it just for the goodwill for the characters, as I really loved them in the beginning of the drama.

one of the most classic school kdramas ever
This is the classic of all classics for me and one of the first kdramas that got me into kdrama world back in the days! from cringe acting to predictable plot filled with school drama, with all its disadvantages it’s understandably bad and weird, but also very addicting. If you’re watching it for the first time in 2023 and expecting much of it - it’s gonna be a disappointment, for 2013 tho it was a typical type of show and it rly has a teen fanfiction vibe of those time lol
This kdrama is not to be taken seriously imo, so I love rewatching, it really brings u back in time ?

I did watched the Korean version of this one since almost all recommended this drama. Eventually it has a different editing than what is what I usually see in other dramas, I find the pacing so hard to understand. I find it hard to connect the storyline since there are somewhat missing parts, which is the style of the editing of this drama.
The drama is cute, fun and light hearted. Yoon Eun Hye did really great as someone pretending to be a guy, I acknowledged that.

Innovative storyline
A very unexpected topic. As most supensful koreans dramas, the director did a godd job as he is very subtle in hints he gives throughout the series.Unfortunately once the light has been made, plot as well as the performance from Lee Seung-gi tend to go downwards. It is not about the ending but how it was conducted. As well he does a perfect job in the first part and second part of the drama but it wasn’t that investing towards the third act.
Dig up other characters would have been better.

The cast is perfect. They embodied and portrayed the characters really well. I also like how the pacing is done in the drama, it just flows and I was not bored watching this even though I already know what's gonna happen next seems it has that cliche storyline of a crime type of drama.
Nice drama overall, would definitely recommend this.

Among all the season series (Winter Sonata, Summer Scent and Autumn in My Heart), this is the only drama that I finished watching so I don't really know about the other dramas in this series. It's a slow paced drama with a lot of throwbacks. I also find the drama frustrating at times, since they could have finished this earlier I think they are vital moments for a touching story that was formed. I cried alongside this drama because most of the scenes are sad.
The OST is great especially the piano pieces - it adds an aura of melo in the drama.

The characters were a bit too comedic that it turns out childish to watchers like me. Though lessons are given to viewers it was not properly executed as a whole.
Not rewatchable as well.

Although the male lead is a chaebol, what I like is that they did not limit the flow of emotions, both with the lead characters and also the side characters. Want to applaud Sun-ah for playing Sam Soon and embracing her role that I could really see her flaws specifically in the physical aspect. I find her awkward with a slim body, though she is really originally a thin actress. She gained weight for this drama, and that is a committed actress.

Dropped........................
Looks like "Revolutionary Love" had more plot twists than an episode of a soap opera! I mean, three attempts and still couldn't get through it? That's some dedication right there. It's like ordering the same dish three times at a restaurant, hoping it'll taste better each time. The protagonist's transformation sounds like it needed a bit more seasoning—maybe a sprinkle of authenticity or a dash of character development. Going from a privileged person to a "champion of the people" is like trying to turn a cupcake into a superhero without the right ingredients.
And a predictable love triangle? Come on, writers, throw in a curveball! It's like playing chess with someone who only knows how to move the pawns.
The pacing issues sound like a real workout for your patience. I can almost see you checking the time, hoping for a superhero to swoop in and save the day, or at least bring some excitement.
At least the cinematography and production quality were on point. It's like having a delicious-looking meal that unfortunately tastes like cardboard. Presentation matters, but so does the substance!
And those attempts at humor—forced jokes are like trying to tickle yourself. It just doesn't quite hit the mark. Maybe they needed a comedy consultant to spice things up.
In the end, it seems like "Revolutionary Love" missed the mark. If only they had added a pinch of direction, a dollop of character development, and a splash of unexpected twists, it could have been a feast for the eyes and the heart.
