A very "re-watchable" worthy Romcom Mystery drama

It's the type of drama that reminds you why you love watching kdramas in the first place.

I'm sure most of you have the same concerns when it comes to Song Kang being the main lead in dramas. He wasn't an A-List celebrity and hasn't made a big name for himself in the acting industry yet so his dramas wasn't always a "must watch". I was a little hesitant to start this drama at first but it was always trending #1 on Netflix so I decided to give it a try. I love Kim Yoojung in romance dramas like Lovers of the Red Sky, Backstreet Rookie and Love in the Moonlight, so I was like "why not?" Went in with no expectations but boy was I wrong for doubting the quality of this drama because the ending of the first ep left me breathless and I immediately binge watched 5 episodes after that.

I think the production value, the soundtrack and the chemistry made this a very enjoyable romance drama. The ending for every episode is very pretty and it made you feel "things". The soundtrack and the editing works very well to make you feel like you're really watching a "romance Kdrama". It brings out this very romantic feeling that made you feel like you're in love yourself. Song Kang and Kim Yoojung were dubbed as the 'visual couple' in this drama and their charms definitely brought out the 'rewatchable' value. The two of them also brought out their emotions very well and I was so touched I cried for the first time in a drama.

Their chemistry gets better and better as the episode goes on, it makes you wonder if the actors were attracted to each other in real life. They felt shy in the first few episodes but their chemistry gets better it becomes perfect. You can feel that the actors genuinely enjoyed the kiss scenes in the episodes. Every interaction felt very natural and enjoyable to watch. Curiosity got to me so I watched the behind the scenes for every episode and they seemed to get along very well with each other off screens too. Their behind the scenes became a hot topic on twitter, weibo and tiktok, it's always trending in the searches and everyone seemed to be very invested in this couple's relationship and chemistry off screens? I can guarantee there's definitely some sort of attraction between the two. Don't believe me? Watch it yourself.

Plot-wise it was pretty interesting (imo), some people may think it's very cliche but that's actually the writers setting a trap for you. They tried to make it look like a cliche romance drama but there's actually plot twists in every ending of the episodes. There's like 4 different mysteries going on in this drama and the mysteries slowly reveal themselves. Each one leaves you more shocked than the other. I was pretty hooked on the plot because the drama seemed very uplifting but it's actually pretty dark?

Overall, it's a very uplifting, romantic, sweet and cute romance drama with a hint of mystery and very dark themes. I think Song Kang found his color in acting for this one. This character fits his real life personality very well. Kim Yoojung too, it's refreshing to see her as a mature and headstrong character. It's NOT a cliche drama where the male lead always have to save the damsel in distress to satisfy the audience. The couple balanced each other pretty well in this one, both male and female characters save and mend each other in their ways. It also feel like there's no gender barrier between the two, there's a very satisfying equality in their relationship and it feels very healthy.

Song Kang definitely made himself noticeable in this drama. He's never in my list for good looking Korean male actors but whatever they've done here with him, whether it's the styling or the mullet adjacent hair, i couldn't stop myself from re-watching every close up scene of him making those expressions. He made the best expressions in this drama and I can say he improved a lot in acting. Kim Yoojung is pretty good too, as a more mature and headstrong female lead in this one. It's very refreshing to watch the two of them together.

I couldn't help myself but gave it a 10/10 for this drama. The plot, the soundtrack, the actors, the chemistry, it fits the type of drama I'm looking for and I love it so much I even bought the soundtrack album myself so it's definitely a must watch if you love romantic dramas. Not your cup of tea if you expect a more fast-paced drama. If you're a person that loves romance, this is for you. if not, watch it to relieve some stress.

fyi: i know kpop idols like zhanghao and ricky watched my demon too. possibly because it's so popular in china and they're both c-line idols. you should def give it a watch if you're a die hard romantic

I don’t get why people are marking this so low?!

I’ve now watched this twice. The enemies to lovers plot is a tad predictable and one could argue that Huang Juan Zhi’s character does forgive Wayne Songs character a little too fast, BUT…. It does explain that he liked him anyway and had been caught out staring at him across the school so maybe he just hadn’t come to terms with what that feeling actually meant until he was persued.
The ending oh the ending. People are complaining it was the worst ending ever and I’m sorry but that’s ridiculous. It’s all in the title make each day count because you don’t know what might happen. The shock factor was brilliant I for one didn’t see it coming. And the TEARS!! ? yes they could have got that point across some other way such as a breakup or an illness or even just an accident but I think they wanted an impact. They wanted to punch you in the gut. I think they succeeded brilliantly.
Wayne songs acting at the end broke my heart. I think if you overlook the small things the overall story is just so sad and beautiful because these things ACTUALLY happen. We don’t want to think about it but it does and sometimes I like a good reality check.
I think if you haven’t watched it then you definitely should.

Worst outcome in xianxia genre

with starring of zhao lusi in this drama , i am waiting for this one for so long ,but i really continue anymore because the only watchable thing is cuteness of A yin ...
i love the type of dramas where at least one person is mature enough to handle situations but here both A yin and yuan qi are too much immature and because of many annoying characters like peacock , i can t continue anymore ...
Story, CGI, visuals, nothing really measured up to the other big budget xian xia dramas of this year like Till the End of Moon or Lost you Forever.

i have very much expectations for its OST s but they are nothing but disappointing ...
i do not think this drama has anything for viewers ...so do not waste your time ...

Initial charm fades with clichés, dragged-out plot.

"Watashi no Oyome-kun" kicks off with a promising premise—Hayami Honoka, a corporate ace with a messy secret, and Yamamoto Chihiro, a domestic superhero, forming an unlikely alliance. The initial quirkiness and chemistry between the leads, played by Haru and Mahiro Takasugi, create an engaging start. However, as the story progresses, the charm begins to wear thin.

The plot struggles with a lack of direction, relying heavily on annoying tropes and clichés, making it feel like the narrative is moving without a clear purpose. The attempt to break societal norms and gender roles is overshadowed by frustrating misunderstandings, overused drama, and numerous unnecessary love triangles.

While the lead couple's chemistry remains a highlight, the constant interruptions to their romance and the exaggerated misunderstandings contribute to a sense of irritation. The characters, particularly the side ones like Akamine, often come off as overly comical, destroying the balance between humor and genuine connection.

As the series reaches its later episodes, the pacing falters, with the story feeling dragged out and losing the initial fun that drew me in. It becomes apparent that the show could have wrapped up sooner without sacrificing its essence. Despite the shortcomings, the presence of Haru and Mahiro Takasugi keeps the interest alive, and moments of adlib add a touch of authenticity.

In conclusion, "Watashi no Oyome-kun" has its entertaining and funny moments, but a dull plot progression, irritating clichés, and a waning charm in the later episodes might leave viewers wanting more. It falls short of being a standout romance drama and may test the patience of those looking for a more substantial and well-paced narrative.

Shin Hye Sun is the Queen of the kingdom and Acting

The story is funny, chaotic, emotional and engaging. It will make you laugh out loud so many times during the messy situations FL keeps ending up in. There wasn't a moment where the story felt dragged or unnecessary. Each and every member of the cast did their job well depicting their characters but the star of the show would be Shin Hye Sun.

She has proven again why she is one of the most versatile actresses. Be it humor or emotional, she nails each and every scene. She managed to show a man in a woman's body so smoothly that it does make you believe the character.
Her sweet yet chaotic loves story with the king. Knowing that the person king fell in love with is actually a dude and FL having conflicting feelings at first regarding this is quite fun to watch as to king this just a normal love between a man and woman but for FL it is pretty much being gay. Both of them went from fighting each other to fighting for each other and the entire journey was beautiful.

I would say it is a must watch whether you are Shin Hye sun fan or not. You won't be bored at all while watching this.

The year begins with a good start even though the first part of this was released just before Christmas Eve. Reminds a bit of song of the bandits, but a few years later with fantasy elements. Even at the end of the Japanese occupation and World War II in 1945. Spoken almost as much Japanese as well. Delivered good action that makes it very exciting. With a bit of light horror and no war, but a bit more scary at times. Experienced it a bit slow at the beginning but it still has a pleasant pace.

I like the chemistry between the leads, a bit odd. No one who falls for the one at the first moment, the relationship is formed over time which I like. Playful, caring and serious is how I would describe their relationship. Like that their relationship doesn't take a lot of focus on the seriousness they are involved in. The moments come when they can get closer to each other. I perceive Jang Tae Sang as way too confident to an almost comical level in the beginning. He is brave and rightfully so.

This is a very different hospital series with its Frankenstein inspired way. Also see similarities with the host and duty after school when it comes to monsters. Also better than expected, as I don't watch much sci-fi/fantasy. Can also find that Vincenzo has similarities to this one that I can see without mentioning any details. Surprising with its characteristics and plot twists during the course of the action.

For those of you who have seen Mouse, you can also say that this contains a philosophical and ethical thought experiment. Which is practiced practically in an impossibly good way. You can see and decide for yourself. No value is placed on this for you to experience and judge for yourself. However, much more extreme and inhuman in my opinion. Many well-known main roles and supporting roles that many of you have probably seen before. I was a little skeptical at first, but I can really say that it is good. Great soundtracks and very interesting!!!!

Seriously, every week I watch but it only gives me headache. Him is being selfish (I think).
He is with Nail just cuz he is identical to Blue .
And Nail after listening to people talking about blue, y he is not making an effort to see his pic which Atlast showed in ep 6.
Plz Nail stand for urself and just stop being in this toxic relationship.
Him, if u love Nail truly, y u keep thinking a Blue.
No matter what ever the story is as being an audience we need to watch a justified relationship not a toxic one coz this makes us feel remorse.

Pleasantly surprised

Because of all the criticism, thought this would be worst than first season. I actually enjoyed it more, first season had too much going on, wasting a lot of time with minor plots. Lee Joon Gi's acting is surely different from Song Joong Ki's, so the characters are portrait differently.
Also let's not forget there is a 7 year gap between the events from season one and two, they are not teenagers anymore. Same can be said of other characters, they are not goofy anymore. Can't wait to see how Saya turns out on season 3, he's my favourite now ?

Now that is an interesting adaptation

I have read the webtoon but the drama made it so much better. I am glad that they did not faithfully follow the webtoon but instead changed it a little to make the story flow better. The connection of the reincarnations to one person wasn't in the webtoon but was a welcome inclusion.

As expected, Lee JaeWook and Lee DoHyun slayed in their roles. I was quite surprised that Yoo InSoo would fit and play his character as the weak bully so well since I never imagined he could be like that at all. He really is the kind of actor that embodies the characters he play. I loved him in Alchemy of Souls, love-hate him in The Good Bad Mother, and utterly hated him in this drama.

I never thought that they would release only the first part of the drama so I am quite disappointed right now but still they chose a great cliff hanger. I hope they release the second part soon.

Enjoyable romantic comedy with eye candy leads and cute maltese

Castle in the Time is a very enjoyable romantic drama comedy. I love the male and female leads Zhang Zhe Han and Park Min Young! They are both eye candies and their acting is very natural! Being a dinosaur lover, I also love the palaeontologist element in the show. The little Maltese Xiao Jun Jun is also extremely adorable. Now only into the 5th episode, expect more and more exciting twists and turns to the storyline! Go watch if you have not yet done so yet! It is now showing on Japan's LaLaTV and will also be showing on SkyPerfect TV and Thailand's Monomax!

The first 4 episodes was a bang. I just finish the drama yesterday and my thoughts are quite out of place. The drama is packed with well known but amazing actors and actresses in the korean drama world. Seo In Guk is really good, though I can only see his face with death and their conversations. Every episode is a way to present how valuable life is. The most memorable for me is the baby episode, it was not expecting it so I enjoyed it. They put some light moments in the drama, which I like since it is really a dark drama. The ending is a cliffhanger so will see if it will live up to the first parts of the drama.

Kindred To A Time Called Us!

January 2024
07th/8th

I liked ALMOST everything about this drama except:

a: The casting of one of the main female leads despite the fact she has always been amazing in other drama series. Had always hoped to see her in a main role - just not as a high school student.

b: The music on the most part is okay - maybe just a few songs were better than okay. Really loved the bass and guitar battle! I was really hoping for music that stays with you for a long time after - nope!

c: Didn't appreciate Eric Clapton's "Tears In Heaven" song referred to as a "chick magnet" - like it is a "romantic love song" or something.

It could be that the translation was incorrect and hoping that is the case.

It isn't a love song in the sense that someone's heart is broken by someone else (romance) - it is a song about the loss of someone deeply loved (Clapton's son) and them being in heaven.

d: The son in 1995 (from 2023) should have spent more time with his mother rather than the girl from 2023 - there were times she really could have done with his intervention and he just wasn't there.

Even his "dad" more so than the 2023 teen female, but I do get that they were both there for a reason.

What I did LIKE:

a: Seeing what would happen and develop between the "mother and father " in 1995 more so than the 2023 teens.

b: The bromance and friendships.

c: The story with it being similar to "A Time Called Us" with the time travel and trying to change the past to save someone in the future or future for the better only "Twinkling Watermelon" wasn't as dark.

Highly recommended! A+

Great adaptation of the webtoon

Wow. Daebak. I don't know what words could I use to describe my appreciation. The drama's cinematography was top notch. I especially loved the landscape shot after the 12th death. Based on the locations they chose and the actors that were in it, you can tell that the budget for this must be huge.

I have read the webtoon but the drama made it so much better. The connection of the reincarnations to one person and the incident that started it all created an impact that the webtoon somehow lacked. The last reincarnation was expected but that twist for the second to the last (11th) reincarnation wasn't.

Oh Jung Se as the detective was definitely the one that shined the most for me in this 2nd part of the drama but the other actors did so great as well. Kim Jihoon was so convincing that I don't think I want to be close to him no matter how handsome he is, though to be honest I have felt this way about him since I've seen 'Flower of Evil'. The resolution of his arc might be unrealistic but was satisfying.

As an adaptation, this was truly great but it stayed on the limits of the webtoon. Like the original IP, it ended up just moralizing on the effect of suicide, somehow blaming those that killed themselves but did not delve into the how we can address the issues of mental health. But still, this is a show that I can definitely recommend.
