To say that I "liked" this film would be considered an understatement. The original Japanese film adaptation was already amazing, however, the execution in terms of delivery and cinematography by Korea set the bar to new heights.

The story provides a refreshing and heartwarming story about family, love, hardship, and a promise. The story telling of the film is set a pace that causes little confusion, if the the viewer has read the synopsis prior to watching. The opening narrative prepares the audience for what is to come and meaning behind the narrative does not fade through the film. Despite, the beginning setting the film provides light humor through the film where the audience would not be expecting. The ending of the film will leave the audience feeling satisfied and not disappointed as the are no loose ends. The choice of cast, So Ji Sub and Son Ye Jin, were great. The visuals and quality of acting both actors provided were well suited for their roles. Furthermore, their younger counterparts, Lee Yoo Jin and Kim Hyun Soo, provided admirable skills. The overall use of music throughout the film highlighted the message and importance behind each scene. In conjunction with the cinematography employed allowed an engaging and enjoyable viewing experience for the audience.

As previously stated, based on the delivery and cinematography this re-adaption of "Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu" exceeds the quality of the Japanese film. I personally highly recommend to watch this film in its entirety, as the delivery of the story is well carried out and has little to none loose ends - leaving the audience with a lingering feeling. Although, you will foresee what is to come re-watching this film a second time will provide a more in-depth understanding between each interaction.

So anyone who knows me understands I watched this because of So Ji Sub. It isn't really my genre of choice. However, I was pleasantly surprised at this heart warming story. It was sweet and I didn't cry. I think the way the story is written and directed made me feel more happy than sad. I love that house. I would totally live there. The way they tell their stories of how they met, feel in love, and heartbreak was beautiful. that kid is just the cutest thing.

So Ji Sub and Son Ye Jin are excellent actors no matter what. Plus they are easy on the eyes and had good chemistry.

The music is pretty.

I would rewatch this.

I recommend this movie to people that are into love stories.

I went into watching this movie expecting to cry a lot... and boy did I cry. It was 2am last night and I woke up my mum (bad decision she was pretty mad I was still awake lol) but I don't regret it at all. This movie was incredible, and once it's finished you'll be so thankful you that you've watched it. At first I thought it was going to be this depressing film that just made me sad ALL THE TIME, but I was wrong, and I'm so thankful that I was. This film made me smile, laugh out loud and cry, that's when you know it's a good movie. Don't not watch this because you think it will be too sad for you, because it's just the right amount of sadness along with a lot of happiness.
I'm a huge fan of So Ji-Sub so that was one of the main reasons I decided to watch this, but I also really loved Son Ye-jin's performance in Something In The Rain, and neither of them disappointed me. They executed their roles perfectly, along with the little boy I was extremely impressed with all of the acting in this movie. The story line was well written, and I definitely didn't expect the plot twist and the end (I guess you will have to go watch the movie to know what the plot twist is). The whole plot was unpredictable but that's what made it so amazing.
In regards to music I don't really remember the sound track, but I really loved the song Some by Bolbbalgan4.

Overall I would highly recommend this movie, I'm going to rewatch it tonight and I don't think anybody should be deprived of the pleasure to watch this, because it was just that amazing.

I hate tearjerkers. I literally do but I'm helpless against them. I postponed watching this so many times but my love for both So Ji Sub and Son Ye Jin took over and I ended up watching it.

SPOILERS AHEAD

I guess I am among the few who watched the Korean version without watching both the Japanese versions and I'm happy because I went totally clueless. The twist (if you can call it) is very good. I was totally shocked. The moment the second truck hit her I almost jumped out of my seat. I was literally shocked. I was dry eyed through the story till the concert at the end. The moment Ji Ho opened his mouth I knew I would cry. Also the end was nice. Like someone had mentioned before hand the bicycle scene after the teary moments was a good addition. The ending was bittersweet. She could have stayed but I guess if she did then they wouldn't be together in the first place.

Also there are some good cameos here. Especially from Gong Hyo Jin and man Park Seo Joon was shock for me too. When they first didn't show him and we could only hear him I was thinking that it was a familiar voice and voila. Pleasant surprise indeed.

All in all this is a sweet watch. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

This film is all about family, love, tragedy, promise, and hope. A refreshing and heartwarming story with the sense of aftermath reality when you lose someone you loved. But don’t worry, this movie brings a light humor, life’s appreciation, and an unexpected twist. It will never bore you at all.

The visuals and chemistry of both actors are perfect for the story. Acting-wise, it was convincing and relatable. The cinematography brings the scenery to be poignant and unforgettable.

I would recommend this movie to all kinds of viewers. It will teach us how to value our family. Enjoy watching!

Beautiful

So Ji Sub and Son Je Jin both have wonderful voices, which was perfect for the voice-over work that was done in this film. This was a beautifully sad, yet uplifting movie, about the power of love, and choices we make - even knowing how things will end. The little boy in this was marvelous as well. I don't want to give anything away, but I will suggest you have tissues handy and watch for the surprise cameo at the end (seeing a recognizable face was fun, but it kind of took me out of the show.

This review will make me look like a bit of a jerk perhaps, but this movie was too plain and not that special. Sure, the storyline was quite unique, didn't even know that there was a previous Japanese movie like this. However, I felt that the movie was lacking like a backstory of the "accident". Wasn't a fan of the supernatural element in this, probably because of the lack of special effects. Personally, I enjoyed the cinematography and the warmness that this movie delivered. I'm a fan of the leading actress, but I felt that she couldn't get into her character. In addition, I personally felt like there was a lack of chemistry between the main couple. The child actor was cute though! In my opinion, there are way better Korean family or supernatural movies out there, this one was mediocre I guess.

A Compelling Story of Love and Family

If you’re looking for a romance, then look no further. This story will twist your heartstrings and make you hold on to the one you love. It’s a story of love, family, and the possibilities of faith in a promise. It was a beautiful fantasy of love.

The acting was fantastic, with So Ji Sub as Woo Jin, the father, and Kim Ji Hwan as Ji Ho, his son. The two of them brought life to the concept of a single father struggling to raise his son while having issues of his own. Ji Hwan is a great young actor with a bright future. The wife and mother, Im Soo Ah, was portrayed by the amazing Son Ye Jin. She brings light into every drama she’s in, and in this one, she was especially bright.

This is a compelling drama and worth your time to watch.

The plot of the movie was very straightforward and simple yet the story was still heartfelt. Most importantly, the chemistry between the two leads is amazing!!! There is something about their eyes that makes you fall in love with them as well! Hope to see more of them in future projects!

Hoped they could've extended this a bit more, even for just another 30 min, so that we may be able to see more of SJS and SYJ 's life together both in the present and the past. Not really sure what's the reason behind her death? Also, since she knew that her second chance was for only a limited time, I was hoping she could've had a better "good bye" to her husband. Besides her diary and Jiho, she left nothing else for him. Hoped she could've written her husband letters also for his birthdays like what she did for Jiho. Anyhow, still loved the movie and will recommend it to people who are into this type of stories :)

PS: Can't believe SJS and SYJ were able to pull off roles as college students. Koreans in general are like vampires, they don't seem to age much!

PPS: Love the best friend of Woojin! Thank you for adding some humor :)

I can’t believe I put off watching this for so long. I wish I hadn’t! To be honest I was scared of the tearjerker synopsis, already knowing how effective So Ji Sub and Son Ye Jin would be. But by giving in to that fear for all this time, I underestimated how uplifting it would also be, a story with so much heart told in such a simple yet clever way.

STORY

The plot in hindsight is relatively straightforward, but the way the plot unfolded wasn’t... in the best possible way. I don’t want to give anything away, so I’ll just say that the pacing was deftly handled, and the thoughtful swaps in perspective were perfectly timed as well.

To be honest, a lot of So Ji Sub’s films seem to aim to capture this kind of feeling... this quiet, steady story filled with equal parts love, tragedy, and hope. In my opinion, this is his film that best manages to balance those elements.

CAST/ACTING

Speaking of So Ji Sub, he was pretty wonderful in this. A quiet, mostly subtle performance that managed to convey so much. At first I was surprised that he didn’t react with more shock or disbelief in the beginning, but as the story played out and you really got a sense of their love story and the family’s bond, it suddenly felt right.

Son Ye Jin was ethereal, radiant, just completely perfect in the role. I like her in anything and everything though.

The real scene stealer though was Kim Ji Hwan! There was a moment towards the end of the film where I suddenly realized that that entire time I’d never realized that this kid was acting. I really believed that he was a child who was experiencing these things. That’s so rare for ANY actor, let alone a child!

MUSIC

Honestly, I don’t remember any of the music at all. That’s not necessarily a bad thing in the case of the score, which supported the story without overshadowing it.

REWATCH VALUE

I don’t typically rewatch movies, but some of these scenes were so sweet... I just might!

OVERALL

Don’t shy away from this film based on the tragic premise. As the movie itself wants us to understand, sometimes experiencing the sad and painful parts are necessary steps on the path to the most fulfilling happiness and beauty.

Memorable one

This is a South Korean remake of a Japanese movie from 2004. I have seen the Japanese movie twice. It’s a wonderful and solid drama movie with a lot of warmth and love. I was skeptical of the South Korean remake, but the quality pleasantly surprised me.This is a good and moving interpretation that doesn’t do much wrong. The only negative thing in the movie is the child actor who plays the young son. He’s not good at all. The remake follows the original from A to B after what I can remember.

Where do I should start from?
I decided to watch this film firstly because it seemed to have both fantasy and drama which are the two genres that I like the most in Korean productions, secondly because of curiosity, I mean, I wanted to know if the woman was going to come back literally from death or just as a ghost. I can say that I was expecting a lot and it didn't let me down.

This film is absolutely gripping from beginning to end. As far as I know this film is based on a novel called "Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu" written by Takuji Ichikawa; I can say that the story is very original since I haven't read/watched something similar before. In my opinion it has a good deal of romance, fantasy, and drama without falling in any cliche, therefore the plot has a totally unexpected twist at the end that will make you think and say "oh, that's why". Moreover this film will also make you go through a lot of feelings such as happiness, sadness and nostalgia.
The characters are very well-developed and the cast is wonderful, in my opinion all the main characters have and excellent chemistry so, this film has both a great story and good actors.

Don't miss it! If you like this genres or alike you will spend such a great time.
