Just enjoy it!

I had a lot of fun watching this drama. Twice. I don't remember ever seeing an idiot as cute as ML is. Actually, there was a lot of idiocy throughout the drama, but I guess that's the charm of this drama. Either someone will be amused by that sense of humor or they won't. For me it was an excellent escape from too serious matters and really excellent relaxation.
But this drama is not just about humor. It is also a neatly told story about responsibility, family relationships, neglect, abuse and trauma. Difficult topics are here, but covered with light humor, as if the scriptwriter did not want to burden us with drama, but only smuggled some "wise" elements. For me, this drama gave me food for thought, I was rooting for ML, who undergoes a transformation and we find out why he is the way he is. For me, there is a neat combination between lightness and laughter and serious themes. I really liked the statement that when a polite child comes home late, he gets a rouse, and when a naughty child comes home a little earlier than usual, he gets praise. As a polite child, I understand this perfectly :)
So if you want to relax and don't mind some shortcomings and sometimes idiotic sense of humor, this drama is for you.

I was a bit worried this drama would be a little bit too cliché and damn it was - but beautifully made!

The story is quite simple and easy to follow and there are no huge surprises. If you look closely at the characters you get to see their struggles and beauty and weirdness. At some point - towards the end - the drama kind of was a bit dragging because of those "yes, I will be with you" and "no, I can't see you, my pride or my familie's status won't allow it"...it got a bit too much towards the end for me.

The acting was really really really really good. This is my first drama with Ji Sung and I never really understood the fuss about him, but damn that man can act. And his facial expressions were to die for. This drama will simply entertain you because of Ju Sung's acting and facial expressions xD
I think they did a very good job with the cast, I even liked the antagonists who were so cliché xD but in a good way

The music didn't stand out for me that much, but it was good. I would probably watch this drama again if I need something light and funny to watch.

Overall not quite a 10, because the end part just draaaaagggged a little

I quite like this series in the beginning. It's a warm and funny movie.
I also like how this movie turns the second lead female to be friend with the first female lead.
Love rival doesn't mean making people into bitch hahaha.

actually the story is so typical, rich chaebol likes poor girl. Nothing new, just that the girl is pretty strong.

I like all the acting here, everything seems natural. I watch this drama because I like Ji Sung.
But all the castings here are wonderful, especially president Cha hahaha.

But towards the end of drama, it's getting boring and annoying, it just dragged. Like typical drama, there is a big misunderstanding, poor communication between them, I actually have skipped 4 episodes for those unnecessary mellow drama, i just hate the sadness and tears that caused by misunderstanding, it's just unimportant, i skipped and just watch the last episode hahaha, and just read the recap in between when i dun understand. Coz i don not want to waste my time watching a very lengthy kdrama that has pointless plot just to lengthen the drama and episodes.

This is a really fun and lighthearted drama. Since lately tv have been reairing old dramas I ended up encountering this show.

I thought it was only in recent series that Choi Kanghee has started doing characters who are quite feisty and knows how to fight... so this drama had intrigued me after seeing Queen of Mystery as well as Good Casting. Same with Jisung tbh. Like it was interesting to see his earlier works as compared to his more recent works and seeing how much his acting capabilities had expand since.

All in all, the drama was quite enjoyable and not too heavy, which means that you don't really have to stress to much while watching the episode. And the rest of the cast was also pleasant and charming and the comedy was well timed and enjoyable. It was fun to see how Eunseol and Jiheon's story unfolds and how they try to work their way out over the things that life had put in store for them.

Overall, this drama was surprisingly fun.

This drama mostly revolves around the emotional rides of the lead roles. Their emotional ups and downs are main plots for the drama. And all this ups and downs have been shown mostly in a comic way. It's like a cheerful journey with confusions. All the characters have some sort of comic sense which will refresh you throughout the drama.
As for the antagonists, their character was not extreme. There were no big tragedy or hectic extreme evil content in the drama. As this drama has only 18 episodes , they did not include unnecessary tragedies. They stick to the main story all the time. I was little lost in episode 1, but from episode 2 you will in which direction the drama is moving, and they did not change their direction till episode 18.
In terms of acting, this drama is next to best. Ji Sung has played a very interesting character as main lead. He will definitely make you laugh hard. Choi Kang Hee played the independent and strong girl No Eun Seol. She is very mature and considerate, while Ji Sung's characterCha Ji Heon is very immature and impulsive. This North pole vs South pole contrast in their character makes the drama as lively as it can get. You will want more of them to watch.
The side characters are included in the main story. They are very closely related to main story, their story is integrated to the main leads' story. So you will find interest in side characters' scene as much as main leads' scenes.
Music is the best in this drama. bgm and the theme song are really refreshing and energetic.

IN SUMMERY ,
If you are thinking of having some light chilled out time with romance and comedy, this is the drama for you.
THE ROMANCE WILL MAKE YOU FEEL LITTLE OVERWHELMING
THE EMOTIONAL CONTENT WILL MAKE YOU CRY A LITTLE
BUT THE COMEDY WILL MAKE YOU LAUGH SO HARD
AND THE FRIENDLINESS WILL GIVE YOU A LOT OF COMFORT

The relatively low overall score for "Protect the Boss" on MDL is surprising. Reading a few of the random comments, it seems the negative scores are from a number of people who didn't finish this drama. I've just watched it again for the third time through the years, and it is as warm, funny, and sweet as always. This is a classic Korean RomCom without the usual stereotypes, but with brilliant, hilarious Ji Sung and a great cast. It has some slow moments in the middle and toward the end--the usual stretch for the contracted episodes--but it's lots of fun. What's so amazing about Ji Sung in all his dramas is that he can do absolutely everything: break your heart, scare you half to death, and make you fall off the sofa laughing out loud. He is a treasure. But the entire cast in this one is terrific, with characters to fall in love with and stories to cherish as they develop. "Protect the Boss" is a light, feel-good drama, beautifully written and directed, that is superior to most and on several "top kdrama" lists. It deserves a far better score on MDL.

STORY:
I could not carry on watching so dropped it after they tried to put ridiculous and predictable twist such as an ex and jealousy and his feelings. Would not have probably minded if they told the story in a shorter length. Eight more episodes seemed easier to just predict for myself instead of sitting through. I really hoped she was kept as the kiss-a** lady from the first episode, but that was lost once she was hired. But I did enjoy the scenes he kept getting hit by his father (hehehe)
Another reason for dropping this is the fact that I could tell that the one I rooted for (the underdog) was not going to end up with the girl.

ACTING:
Had no problem with the acting for Ji Sung and Kim Jae Joong potrayed their characters well and even managed to pull off the comedic scenes; storyline just failed them.

The problem for me with this show is that it became extremely predictable after the 5th episode. It started out good and really funny, but as it dragged on it got less and less fun. I did like how the lead chick didn't let people look down on her just because of her past. But once I could tell exactly what would happen, I lost a lot of interest. I would not recommend this show.

I liked tha main characters (Kang Hee & Ji Sung), but in my point of view Jae Joong didn't perform very well. I think if the director had admited another actor it could be greater, because the story was actually OK.

Except because of this con, I recommend it; because the story and the main couple is OK.

I'm making this review of my point of view. I expected quite a lot of this drama because of Ji Sung, but the perfomance of Jae Joong was weak. Sometimes I was going to drop the drama, but I didn't because of the story.

P.S. I'm not a hater or something like this towards Jae Joong.

This is the third time that I am watching this show and am still enjoying it so much. The cast are so good in their roles, especially after seeing them as so many other characters in different dramas.

The main actor Ji Sung is so versatile and is the main reason I am watching this for a 3rd time. I have just finished watching him in some more serious roles and wanted to remind myself of his acting in this light hearted comedy - and am as always astounded with his range.

The female lead is also someone that I really enjoy - Choi Kang Hee. Have really enjoyed the dramas that she has been in.

Finally the supporting cast are so good in their roles, each one adding so much to the overall story with their quality interpretation.

Overall even third time through I am enjoying this drama very much.

Pretty good kromdrama show!

After watching the episodes on YouTube, it made me realise so much how wholesome it is! The story goes is that a girl named No Eun Seol , who experiences hard luck when it comes to employment and that was until she is hired to be her flashy cold hearted yet socially anxious boss, Cha Ji Heon. The amount of things he said to her were ABSOLUTELY nasty and I mean, FairPlay that she kept acting level headed while he was doing this to her. Yes she is known to be a strong character but she did a great job at being professional lol. I liked how the story deepdived on the Ji Heon character like just because you’re born into a rich family and become the next successor of the family corporation, it doesn’t mean that you’re gonna be always confident in yourself. That’s what this kdrama did a pretty good job on that part within the ML character development!

The ending was sweet btw with both Eun Seol and Ji Heon getting hitched, that includes Moo Won and Na Yoon (btw both are hotties ngl). Also I really liked the father and grandmothers interactions like the pair of them made me laugh throughout watching the show! This should be not be a masterpiece or that great personally but it’s nice to watch if your heartstrings need to be pulled even more x)
