Loving this drama is such a lonely feeling, I feel like I'm the only person in this world loving it xD
Please, don't feel so bad - it's awesome that you are enjoying it so much :) The fact that we are liking or not some things is not so important as long as you spend your time happily watching it.
objectively speaking, han sung's death is a smart plot move. it's the classic killing the last person…
Yes, it's disappointing that his death is not having bigger impact on characters and story. I am really disappointed, how show is not "using" support characters in interesting way - they had SO MUCH potential.
This was my first and probably my last historical drama... personally think this was terribly done with such a…
@dearD4NI indeed Moonlight Drawn By Clouds was good :)
I recommend Empress Ki; King's Daughter, Soo Baek Hyang; Love in the Moonlight (aka Moonlight Drawn By Clouds); Queen In Hyun's Man; Rooftop Prince;
If you are looking for light, relatively short, comedy-like sageuk try "The Three Musketeers" I liked it very much and loled so much on it <3

@Isobel, I agree with @ayowaddupkrease don't let it be your last sageuk - there is plenty of very nice historical dramas and I am sure you could found one you like - with nice actors, good plot and music and interesting characters.

I agree, they have very nice cast and very interesting support characters, and yet they did not showed much of them and their background story. It would be so interested to see more of them.
I was loving this drama, but they are messing too much with the real history... It was such an amazing era, but…
@CarlaSantini I totally agree. At first I was afraid that they will try to make Sun Woo "true king Jinheung" by telling he was switched after birth or smtg (so even tho Sam Maek Jong would though of himself as King and raised by Queen as a Royal Prince he wouldn't be one ect.), but now it's not an option. Also though that Sun Woo will allow "fake" Jinheung to be king "simple coz he though he is king all life", but that would be heartbreaking as well :(
Problem now is, that Sun Woo can be seen as a person who has "some right to the throne", but in fact Sam Maek Jong and Sun Woo are not competing for the throne, because THERE IS already a king = King Jinheung! It seems that they are "competing", because Queen was reign in the name of Sam Maek Jong, but in fact all this time he was named, true king even tho he had nothing to say, coz Queen not allowed him to.
So only way Sun Woo can be a king now is via rebellion - which may happen, but will not be successful - even sageuks writers wouldn't dare to change history THAT MUCH! If Sun Woo would became king, it would mean era name and king name change and we know it didn't happen.
Maybe I am in favour of Ji Dwi, but saw enough sageuks to know there are some borders they don't cross, otherwise they won't be sageuks any more.
I really think he is doing a good job acting his first historical drama.
But maybe I am not good person to judge coz I really like him as this character :D
So is anyone here who can explain who Hwi Kyung Kong is? I just don't get it >_<
Hwi Kyung Kong is fictional character.
Queen's husband was hers uncle in fact. Ji Dwi father was King Galmun (갈문), who was the younger brother of King Beopheung (법흥). King Beopheung was a father to Lady Ji So. Lady Ji So married her uncle King Galmun and they had son Ji Dwi. Jinheung was a Sacred Bone on both sides. King Galmun was never a true King (he got this title coz his son ascended the throne).
King Beopheung died without having legitimate sons and passed the throne directly to his grandson Jinheung (his sons who survived were illegitimate = no claims to the throne, there for theirs sons aka SW have also no claims).

Sun Woo can't really be a King as he is suffering an illness - if Hwi Kyung Kong have been disqualified, when Sun Woo is suppose too. That's why Ah Ro's father and Hwi Kyung Kong are pushing SW for the King - precisely because HE IS UNFIT and they want to destroy Shilla's Sacred Bone system by putting "common" King on the throne. ;)
If Master Hwi Kyung Kong is SW's father, then he is Sacred Bone only in theory as his father was disinherited by the Royal Family and is regarded as commoner - so are his children and descendants.
Can Ah Ro just stop getting into trouble already? Like seriously! It was pretty predictable that Sun Woo would…
I can't stand Ah Ro getting in trouble all the time. Girl srly?!?!
I also think, putting Ah Ro in danger was not the wisest move:
1) it looks now that SW only step forward to save her (BORING, how many times we can see the same "scheme"?)
2) if the intention of writer was to show that SW know that Ji Dwi is a King and he wanted to protect him, when it intention was destroyed by Ah Ro involvement and it look again like "romance-related" and it would be MUCH better to make it "bromance-related" instead.
3) if SW knows JD is a King and suddenly is protecting him, it's then quite a BIG plot hole, coz 2 episodes ago he wanted to kill him no matter that and now suddenly he is protecting?!?, is he changing his mind so fast? XD
4) it made JD look like a scared idiot and I hate it.
I really do not like the fact, that Ji Dwi is struggling and preparing to became a true King for sooo longggg time - I can understand that he has hard time when he was young and in hiding all his life, but we are already at 70% of drama progression and THAT moment, was the THE BEST TIME and place they could have reviled his identity - honestly when I saw EP 14 preview and saw Ji Dwi "face of firm decision" I KNEW he will do it, I was SO convinced that THIS IS THIS MOMENT, but no... THEY HAD TO RUIN IT.. now SW will again have all the spotlight, will be mistaken for the King and will have "epic fight" with Beakje Prince and Ji Dwi will be looking as stupid coward King despite the fact that he wanted to protect Shilla people. :(
"Statue Kissing" - omg, I don't like it... >.> Especially in Love O2O, main lead was kissing so passionately but girl was like a wood... zero emotions, zero reaction... are these Asian girls so innocent that they are terrified by a kiss? XD
----
"2nd Lead Syndrome" starts to annoys me, coz so many times they are better people (sometimes they are worse jerks ofc) than main leads (who are cold stupid rich jerks but are loved by female leads) yet they are usually ignored and pushed away. I think I saw only once a drama, where female lead ended up with 2nd lead!
Also in not-romantic dramas, 2nd lead (like in Beak Dong Soo or Hwarang) is imo more interested than main lead and shroud/is stealing the whole attention to the point I was hoping they rename drama for "Assassin Yeo Woon" instead...
That is that dramas are for :)
