One of my 2016 favorites, and that I can honestly say it needs more episodes and deserved to be extended. Read somewhere that the writer wrote the drama for 16 episodes, but network had to stick to 12 so we were shortchanged with Jiwon's story :( Aside from that glaring fact, I still forgive the drama overall for giving us relatable stories of women coming of age and their friendship.
What about the romance aspect of this drama? Is it good?
The chemistry between Yoo Yeon Sook and Seo Hyun Jin is great, but not central to the show. What really drew me in is their journey and growth as individuals and their romance is a bonus!
Can attest to the binge watch factor of this drama - almost caught up to episode 15 after 2 days. Bok Joo and Joon Hyeong are the cutest, most adorable puppies - SWAG!
So happy somebody wrote an article about him ^^ Really love him, his acting is getting better and better. I think…
Oh hi one of 30 people that watched Bubblegum! I actually enjoyed the drama a lot, and you're right about the story being more character driven.Him and Jung Ryeo won had great chemistry although the rest of the story could have been improved. I also have the song "Our Season" from the drama on my regular listening rotation.
I'm conflicted. I'm getting the impression that the show is trying to get me to sympathize with Soo…
I don't think we're meant to endear to Soo Yeon. Rather, it's to show that marriage itself is complex and there are other reasons as to why some couples choose to go that route (not that cheating should be condoned or anything especially with married couples). It's easier to root against Attorney Choi since he's so blase about his affairs and we see his wife condoning it anyway (as long as he doesn't get caught). But with Hyun-woo/Soo Yeon it's a completely different dynamic and as we can see they are dealing with this differently. It's a theme that is constantly shown in the drama, from the couples featured on Hyun-woo's show to his SNS followers and how they respond to his story.
So I think the remainder of the episodes would focus on their choices - from what drove her to adultery to its consequences (should they stay together or not?). Was Soo Yeon actually thinking of leaving him when she had the affair or was it a spur of the moment thing that have now snowballed really badly? I think the show is pretty realistic in that couples and society in general deals with adultery in different ways.
And here I am thinking I'm getting a break after this hectic drama cycle - apparently not! I have 3 on my To watch list and now adding Night light to it :D
So I'm taking on my first ever long drama aka Six Flying Dragons. I have to admit I'm not a sageuk watcher previously (the only one I enjoyed was Arang and the Magistrate and that doesn't really count lol) let alone a 50 episode one. But now I'm watching both Moon dramas and while each has their own strong suits, I decided to pick up SFD since I was craving more of the political machinations of history and from the reviews this seem to be right my alley at the moment. On episode 2 right now and I'm enjoying it so far - hope I can hang on!
Loving all the meta on episode 7 - the ugly sweatshirt made an appearance and Oska is wearing it! Louie must have forgotten that he was a swindler on his past life as well.
Thank you for featuring him! His smiles are everything :) This year has been so stellar for him with the success of Reply and Moonlight, hoping for greater things on his future projects!
On the second (or third? frankly it doesn't matter at this point) reset, I finally accepted that I need to check my brains out and accept no logic when I watch. I'm with you on Dad, it could have been a fantastic story line that can stand on its own but nope. And Soo Bong-ah, he is my saving grace for this drama. Even the writer admitted that she didn't really thought and care about the ending - that's like Writing 101 and I'm not even a writer. LOL
I saw the raw episode 7....oh my gosh!! Be still my rapidly beating heart *kyaaa* ❤
I got spoiled on Twitter with the Bogum fan accounts I follow. So they expected me to adult the whole day at work, while I'm randomly smiling around knowing what's waiting for me at the end of the day. so excited to watch already!!!
Omg is chae soo bin gonna end up with the crown prince
History is the greatest spoiler, so from what I've read from different sageuk/history buffs Lee Young married Jo Hae-yon which is Chae Soo bin's character. So we might actually see this one happen during the drama. But who knows what kind of liberties the writers will take on one.
I can't believe Kim Yoo jung is only 16 and is already so, SO good. Her and Park Bo gum did so well conveying their emotions thru their eyes during the dance, it was so mesmerizing. The first two episodes were cute, but the next 2 brought the story to another level! I'm hoping the show keeps getting better, with the introduction of Chae Soo bin's character next week and the Prime Minister and Queen conspiring against our Prince. And of course, the cute interactions between the Crown Prince and Puppy! This is the one of two good things to look forward to on Mondays (including SH:R)!
First episode was not good, but second and third episode are better! I really feel bad for the tortured 4th prince, and Lee Jun ki is so good as Wang So. And I almost forgot how bloody politics are back in the day, literally.
