So I'll be writing my first review so cut me some slack
I found this movie on Kissasian by sheer luck and I do not regret watching this at all not even one bit
watch it.
I think it's a good movie accurately showing one of the worst sides of the business, especially in Japan. It deals with suicide and generally being at a low point in life
The plot was meaningful and moving and it touched on some important issues in our society regarding work, family connections, depression & suicide. The two main characters did well in their roles and were believable
If you are pondering whether to watch this movie or not, just watch it
why?
Because it is a film that I truly believe everyone should watch
a movie that can change your perspective
It deals with seeing hope in the midst of all the harshness of reality against you and seeing what matters to you in the end
I am a very bad critique when it comes to movies but this movie struck a chord in my heart because of Jonghyun that I actually shed a tear or two in the end
watch it.
Some may not enjoy it as much, some may find it even better than I did
There is no romance FYI altho there is bromance but it is not BL
so with this
Do watch it'!

This is not strictly a sports drama. It's a political and power-struggle drama that is happening in a baseball profession setting. I know nothing about baseball, but I was never, not even once, confused about the plot because of my lack of expertise. So, if the minimum interest you may have in sports is the reason you are on the fence whenever you should watch this show, rest assured, it’s far more than just baseball.

It has one of the best varieties of different characters representing different viewpoints. The supporting cast is not just a background for the main character to shine. They all have individual stories to tell that are well incorporated into the main plot. As much as they are shaped by Baek Seung Soo’s decisions and actions, he himself is also affected by people around him. It’s an amazing group dynamic that makes you care for every and each character.

For a drama focused on the sport, it deals with a lot of different, important topics like: women in positions of power and workplace, nepotism, disability, patriotism, family versus work. All in a really natural and not “in your face” manner. This way you can enjoy the depth of the story without feeling lectured and patronized.

The cast did an amazing job in bringing these characters to life. While I’m not the biggest fan of Nam Goong Min, I loved him in the role of Baek Seung Soo and I could not picture any other actor playing it. While at the beginning Seung Soo was a bit mysterious of a character, and it was not easy to figure out his motivation, as we progress more into the story, we can discover how gentle and simply good of a person he is.

I also truly enjoyed how much of a loser the main villain was. He was not this powerful, all knowing, smart and cunning mastermind. He was a power hungry man who was willing to give up his integrity to keep the social status he was able to achieve. Extremely scared, extremely cowardly, extremely desperate.

It had its fair share of character development, making me, by the end of the drama, love a character that I despised at the beginning. We see a truly natural and gradual change in our main character, as he slowly opens to people and is willing to let go of his fears and struggles.

Overall, I thought it would be a sure drop from me, and I gave it a chance only because I adore Park Eun Bi, and yet, I enjoyed every second of it. The strongest point of the drama is for sure the amazing cast and set of main and supporting characters. I fell for more than one character and will come back to at least rewatch some scenes from time to time.

I'm not gonna lie saying this: I decided to watch this drama because of the big amount of comments saying that it was a "No-No".
A lot of people dropping it and stuff like this.

So, I just got curious and decided to give it try.
Once finished it, I can tell that it wasn't THAT bad. I mean, I was expecting something definitely worse
(I prepared myself for the worst).
It wasn't a masterpiece but it was decent. I liked it.

The way writers built each character in a different way, with a different (and sad) background was really a good idea.
I liked that.
Still, I can understand why people lost their interest in it: there was no development. This is 'cause writers preserved it for a big finale. But I'm gonna talk about this later.
I think that another problem was Soo's character. He was so marginal, kinda meaningless. The writers weren't able to let viewers get attached to him. They could have worked so much on his character...
Talking again about the plot development.
The problem was this: the whole drama IS in the LAST episode, basically.
I'm serious. It was like the writers put all their ideas there. In fact ep. 16's finale was SO rushed. It's really a shame. This could have been a lot more interesting and entertaining and there could have been a different development of the story itself, but also of characters and their relationships.
A lot of WASTED POTENTIAL.
(OST awesome. I really liked it).

We Are: Entwined Hearts & Uncharted Paths

Should you watch "We Are"? Honestly, it's a bit of a mixed answer. The storyline is quite simple, without much depth or intense drama. But if you're looking for a show that emphasizes healthy friendships and relationships, "We Are" does a great job of that. This was something I was really hoping for, and it delivered well in that aspect. The genuine connections and positive interactions between the characters are refreshing and heartwarming.

While there are some enjoyable moments, the pacing really becomes an issue, particularly between Episodes 9 and 13. This section felt especially slow and could have been condensed, making the whole series tighter and more engaging, probably fitting better into 12 episodes.

So, while it might not be the most thrilling series out there, its charm comes from its simplicity and the heartfelt bonds it shows. If that sounds appealing to you, it’s definitely worth a watch.

"In this group of friends, even though university life is tough, life's ups and downs, plus love's twists, keep things always stirring.
We are... friends who argue but care so much about each other that sometimes, we end up flirting."

Confusing and Tiring

Just to be clear, Im only giving this show a 6 because of Kim and Copter, the show is a big confusing mess taking itself too seriously and tried to give us a big smorgasboard that didnt really work.

Let me talk about KitMark first, cause they are the main reason why i watched this show. Kim's acting can sometimes be silly but as silly as it is he is still lovable, and Copter is, as expected, always a pleasure to watch. Put them together in a scene and they just complemented each other well. The sad part is the series lacked consistency and at the last few episodes it felt like they were donwgraded to support characters.

Now lets discuss Bas and his character Wayu. I didnt enjoy him in 2moons but at least he was tolerable there. Here, the constantly crying Wayu is just annoying. His character was written like a princess who is more delicate than a real girl and is almost always vulnerable (and fainting or falling) and in need of assistance. He even needs help in washing his own hands for crying out loud. Girls act tougher than this guy in real life, its frustrating.

Whats with the supernatural element in this show? Thanu and Phai's destiny premonition or whatever you call that came out of nowhere but acceptable. But doing the same exact thing for Thanu and Wayu just pushed it to the edge of ridiculousness.

And then there's the fact that this show featured hundred thousand actors that everyone felt like minor characters. I hate shows that feels like nothing is happening after an episode, but this one tried to cram too much that you end up forgetting what and whose show it is in the first place.

One thing i also have to comment is the fact that this university has almost non-existent straight characters. I know this is a BL show, but for for the love of the goddess all girls were treated as shrieking accessories that oggles for cute guys even if he is obviously gay. I think in the finale they even forget that the real world has girls in it.

Will i rewatch, hell no, not even the KitMark scenes. Will i reccommend, maybe for tweens and for those who are still stuck at home and nothing to do but watch, but lower your expectations and i mean really low. Yes im glad that i at least get to watch Kim and Copter again, but i hope producers in Thailand realize how ridiculous it is to produce exactly the same low quality university themed BL stories over and over again - gay life is not this black and white boring.

A short, nostalgic cute warm and fluffy drama....

Serendipity's embrace is a short romcom about first love, second chance romance, friendship and more.

It's a drama filled with warmth, lots of cute and fluffy moments and is most definitely going to give you nostalgia from the old Korean romcoms.

It's a cute drama that balances romance and comedy and considering its short, nothing felt repetitive or draggy....

The PLOT is something you have seen before, it's cliched and troupey but definitely executed in a way that feels warm and entertaining and engaging....the pacing is decent, nothing feel too rushed or too slow..it's the perfect pacing for the eight episodes.

The CAST did a great job, I must say this is one of my most loved characters of Kim so Hyun..her character as hong Ju is fun vibrant, clumsy, cheerful but at the same time not cringe or annoying...you could tell she was having an amazing time taking on this role.

Chaejongyeop's eye acting is definitely something worth of praise..he expresses him self through his eyes and that's something you could see especially in the earlier parts of the drama where he came off as a bit unexpressive...I also loved how he wasn't the typical cold male lead but rather just quiet, calm and mature...

Other characters were also a fun addition to the overall casts and I love how we got little to no toxic characters..it felt refreshing.

The characterisation was perfect and I loved the cast chemistry and how they all complimented eachother perfectly which added to the charm of the series.

The CHEMISTRY between the leads was one of the major points of this drama, their interactions felt cute and warm and natural, I loved how their conversations flowed so naturally at times it didn't feel acted and if anything made me wish that this drama was a bit longer then it's definitely the leads interactions together which gave me lots of flutters and butterflies.

Overall this drama was amazing, something simple yet cute to watch as in to take a break from the heavy plots we have been getting recently, something to remind you of the old k romcoms that were the reasons why we became kdrama find, something funny and cute to giggle it....this drama was exactly what it promised to be, a cute fluffy ROMCOM.

Do I recommend it?

Absolutely....you will have a great time watching this especially if you looking for a short, simple yet cute ROMCOM to watch!!!!

I highly recommend this drama for anyone who is searching for something sweet, funny romantic but not really dramatic. The actors and actresses in this drama are all beautiful and above all, our main character can sing really well. I can’t help falling in love with Si Tu Feng’s angel voice and the catchy rhythm of all the soundtracks, especially the song named “Star”.
The best part of this drama is the end of episode 27/30. When Si Tu Feng had to engage with a girl he did not love to prevent her from suicide, he suffered a lots and felt guilty with his real girlfriend Chen Qing Qing. However, with the support of Quin Quin’s grandfather – he encouraged her to chase for what she liked and dreamed of – QuinQuin decided to stopped the engagement party. The most epic moment of the drama was when QQ came into the cathedral, using the “shake hand ticket” with Si Tu Feng to shake hand in 5 seconds with him. (For every album there was a ticket designed by QQ, which offered a fan can shake hand with their idol in 5 seconds). However, QQ not only had 1 ticket but she had hundreds of them ? All the tickets fell down from the ceiling right in front of the amazing reaction of all the guests. Meanwhile, Si Tu Feng was so touched by this moment so he decided not to let go of his real love easily. He held QQ’s hand and ran away before apologizing to the girl he did not love at all. He couldn’t lie to himself, his friends and family anymore.
For me, I consider this scene is one of the best stunning moment which makes me replay many times to watch it again. The song “Star” was played right in this moment made it more romantic than ever.
I really hope for more and more drama like that. I think I would recommend this here for everyone. Hope all of you will give this drama a try.

one of my favorite cdrama

I started to watching this because of Zhao Lusi, the amount of episode made me hesitant to watch. However i ended up loving it.

-

From the beginning there's Cheng Shaoshang with her abandonment issue, her only-depend-on-myself attitude, and how she always on her wits to fight back anyone who bully her or people around her.
Her issues were believable and i could relate to her sometimes. I love that her attitude changed little by little to portray her growth.

I also noticed Shaoshang's Mom growth. She was really harsh at first and motivate Shaoshang by always comparing her to the 'perfect' cousin. Then her slowly realizing the good in her daughter.

The portrayal of the Cheng family were great.
They're mostly funny, especially the Grandma, who has downry addiction, and Shaogong, who loves to do divination.

Ling Buyi story was quite a plot twist for me, that i don't know how to explain about it without spoiling everything.

The romance started real slow, but had great build up. I really enjoy watching how litle by little their love for each other grow.
How 2 people with their own issues tried and failed to understand each other, how they got to overcome their differences. Their struggles & the damage were realistic. But they could added a bit more build up to the relationship and a bit more intimate scenes. ZLS and WL have good chemistry.

I really like Emperor Wen, it's funny how he always urge LBY to get married. There's also the lovable Empress Xuan and straightforward Consort Yue. It's my first time seeing such healthy relationship between Empress and Consort.

Side characters like, Yuan Shanjian, Lou Yao, Wan Qiqi, Qiu Fei and Qiu Qi were a good addition to the story.

For others the political side of the story could felt boring and repetitive, but for me it was easy to understand and i like it.

I can't forget the fact that the pacing in the first half were too slow. There's too many side characters that showed up, forgotten, or suddenly moved to the next stage of their lives. And the amount of wicked woman are just ridiculous.

The acting were great! Everyone did they roles perfectly.
When Ling Buyi in a bad mood he scared me out. Sometimes even when he's happy he creeps me out too. WL's acting is spot on, he did good job as LBY.
I'm used with ZLS doing funny/cute roles all the time. It surprised me seeing how good she is in the emotional scene. Also I'm really amazed with Xu Jiao, i can't believe she was the same kid in CJ7. Versatile actresses indeed.

Other thing I love is the cinematography/VFX. They indeed give a lot effort in it. It's just very screenshot worthy. I feel like i took screenshots of the scenery in every episode. However there's too many scenes were in slo-mo, probably for dramatic effects, which gets me frustrated at times. They could've cut it and use the screentime for something else.

Both intro and outro didn't include spoilers like how way cdramas usually are.
The music used were good, my favorite is the outro song and the flute instrumental.

It might be a bit of a long drama, but I'd definitely rewatching this.

-

With all being said, Love Like The Galaxy is not the perfect drama. But watching the whole thing was a great journey. I couldn't count how many times i go from laughing, crying, squealing, angered, then laughing, crying again and again. This is now one of my favorite cdrama. I'm gonna miss it so much.

I'd recommend this if you like historical drama that has a lot of funny moments and slow burn romance.

It's a long and full of grammatical error review, but thank you for reading (◍•ᴗ•◍)

Unexpectedly Funny, Underrated GEM!

I seriously went into this drama without any expectations, but I liked the ML and I felt sorry that he got paired up so badly in his past dramas which I mostly dropped.

This one started out pretty standard. Set is ... super fake. Those bad wigs especially on the ML when his hair is down made him look so bad. However, if you at least make it by ep 8 then you'll see that this is more of a comedy Xian Xia like a Starry love type. ML's voice (dubbed or not), suits the character very well, gives him that sarcastic feel. The drama does get serious as it progresses so less comedic moments later on.

Story quality is way better than the set quality. There are quite a few interesting supporting characters with sufficient screen time to build up their characters as well. I think if you are looking for new blood (young pretty faces) this is not it.

But if you want:
1. A great actor that can portray this kind of semi bad, inner good, partially sarcastic character
2. Enjoyable dialogue and not the typical ML/FL will just focus on Love and nothing else matters
2. Interesting supporting characters
3. No Nasty 3rd wheel can't get a clue but just trying to steal the leads away & wasting screen time

Then this is a great watch!

Fav. Moments:
Ep 8 FL won't die. Probably the funniest Ep
Ep 26 ML's realization. Hit the spot! OST is killing it! ML .... TY for being the ML!
Ep 29 The show down
Ep 32 ML's guilt proposal followed by the makeup scene

Not so Favorite:
The Ending ... It was just meh....
Then I find out there were supposed to be 6 more episodes they cut off. Y Y Y Iqiyi you cut off good dramas? So wrong....

Shin Hye Sun Running Circles Around Oppas that Can’t Act and a Crappy Plot that Can’t Plot

You know a writer has overestimated themselves when a show with an interesting premise, distorted timelines, flawed characters and major potential turns into pure, convoluted, nonsensical garbage.

❌ The writing and execution in this is seriously bad. Like one of the worst I have seen in a long time. While the drama starts out very promising with unreliable protagonists who slowly reveal their intentions, it loses the plot somewhere in the middle and just ends up being vomit on screen that calls itself a script.

❌ Some things are added just for the sake of it - no logic or reasoning required. Random dead bodies in random freezers, random trucks of doom, random cabins in the freaking forest. There is so much randomness is this show, I was half convinced the writer was on shrooms.

❌ The drama tries desperately to be complicated but ends up coming off as confused as a floppy fish out of water. This was what I was afraid of when I saw who the director was. I have watched almost all of his dramas and things with him go either way. Either he nails his execution and gives you masterpieces like 25-21 and Search WWW or he completely fucks things up like in King Eternal Monarch. Unfortunately, this drama has the same floundering headless chicken execution that King Eternal Monarch had and it’s just sad.

❌ Then, there are the crappy love interests. There are literally three of those in this drama. The third ML is there for no reason. He is also basically a brother figure of the FL’s long term ex boyfriend (the ML) and his pursuit and feelings for her are just awkward, messy and add zero substance to the plot. Just one of those random things the show throws in just for the sake of it.

❌ However, ofcourse, the major downfall of this show are the two main oppas. First of all, neither of them are good actors. They are bland, plastic and have zero nuance to them. Also, their screen presence is in the negatives. I swear Kim Nam Gil’s sock has more screen presence than all of these 3 oppas combined.

❌ Second of all, both of the two male leads are severely unlikeable and selfish for the majority of the show.

❌ The first ML, Hyun Oh, who breaks up with the FL after eight years of dating is trash human being number one. He is selfish and thinks that the world revolves around his mommy issues and the fact that he has two dozen grannies to take care of.

❌ Oh, poor him, his sad oppa problems give him a get out of jail free card to be the most toxic, wishy washy faded red flag that you want to 10000% avoid in real life. And, when I say red flag, I don’t mean the sexy bad guy red flag, I just mean dirty mud blood red flag that is just disappointing and annoying.

❌ Their entire relationship is just about him. He constantly makes her feel like he is better than her and she constantly doubts herself. After dragging her along for eight years and breaking her heart, he still doesn’t cut it off clean. He keeps giving her mixed signals and doing things for her she never asked for so she can never fully move on. And the moment he hears that she COULD move on, he is all scandalised about it.

❌ This man’s head is so far up his own ass that he never realises how someone who he has claimed to love for YEARS is in unbearable pain. And while, I did like their past relationship scenes together and was initially rooting for him, with every episode it seemed he just got worse and worse. By the last episode, I wanted to throw him off a cliff and call it a day.

❌ Then, comes the second main oppa, Ju Yeon. I didn’t like his and Hyeri’s (Fl’s second personality) dynamic from the get go because it came off childish, awkward and silly. Which is fine because that was who Hyeri was supposed to be as a character. What is not fine is that when he learns about her disorder, his reaction is the WORST thing imaginable.

❌ Instead of consoling her or feeling for her, he makes her apologise for hurting him, REPEATEDLY. And then, keeps insisting that she bring the other damaged personality around because he is in love with it.

❌ The whole delusion around the fact that he is in love with a fictional personality and wants her to remain sick just so he can fulfil his own kinks is SICKENING.

❌ After that, I really didn’t see the romance in him waiting around for the personality to show up. It was just stupid and even though the drama later tried to convince us that he’d take her as both Hyeri and her original personality, his actions clearly reflected that he is still very much hung up over Hyeri.

❌ Ofcourse, it’s inevitable that the oppas do get some redeeming moments in the last couple of episodes where they finally focus on people other than themselves but I don’t really give a fuck. I make judgements on characters as the way they are throughout the entire drama not their last minute actions and from the way these two were, the only happy ending for the FL would have been was to stay alone and away. Hell, the 3rd ML who was basically irrelevant cannon fodder was the most likeable option.

❌Also, speaking of shitty things in this drama, let’s talk about the whole DID thing. I usually don’t care about the science and logic of these tropes and I don’t care here either but I feel like it’s almost romanticised. This constant question of were you more happy as the other personality? Then this whole grown ass man being in love with and constantly reinforcing the other personality after knowing the woman for one single MONTH.

❌It gave me a bad taste in my mouth because the FL’s second personality is just a defence mechanism and it’s unnatural, born out of trauma and shouldn’t even exist in the first place, much less be reinforced and constantly validated.

❌ But, I shouldn’t have cared about the technicalities because this drama seriously does not give a shit about authenticity. It pulls out the worst “Oppa’s love heals everything even if it’s freaking DID” card I have ever seen in a drama.

Especially when that love is toxic, unwanted, weirdly codependent and downright stupid. They didn’t even try to pretend like they were using the illness as anything other than a plot device.

❌ To top off the nonsense, every single problem in these people’s lives MAGICALLY gets solved in the eleventh episode. DID? Cured by good old Oppa humping. ML’s reason for breaking up with Fl in the first place which led to this 14 episode worth of junk being made? Solved in 2 seconds. Love triangle? Solved with a good old smiley, breakup date.

It is just outlandish how bad the writing is. There is no real healing or character development anywhere. You won’t find it even with a NASA grade microscope.

✅ So, is there anything good about this show? Yeah, it’s Shin Hye Sun. She is one of my favourite actresses and like always she does an excellent job here as well. Her acting range is insane. She is nuanced, charismatic, expressive and delivers both her roles with perfection.

✅ I loved her as the damaged, sassy, broken, insecure, overly dependent and deeply flawed Ju Eun Ho. She made me feel for her struggles and I absolutely rooted for her. (Atleast, I did root for her before she became a manic panic obsessed oppa groupie who was legit like “I missed your toenails” to her shitty ex boyfriend.)

✅ While I wasn’t as much of a fan of her Hyeri personality with how over the top she was with the whole childish get up, and the exaggeratedly slow speech, I still appreciated SHS for it because it did the job of what the show wanted to deliver with her.

✅ Shin Hye Sun grossly overpowered all other actors with her talent in this drama and it showed. She single-handedly carried it on her back and I hope she asked for a freaking full body deep tissue massage along with a hefty paycheque for this.

✅ To be honest, there are some other good aspects of the show as well. For one, the skin ship and the kisses in it are good. Some episodes pack a surprisingly emotional punch. There are some great cinematography and OST moments. Moreover, the ups and lows of a relationship in flashbacks are also nicely shown but overall, it’s not enough.

❌ Because when you don’t have all the plot holes, the unlikeable male leads, the bad acting, the terrible writing and the confused timelines, you have uninteresting side filler characters taking up the screen.

❌ The grannies are boring, the office people are annoying and all other supporting characters are lacklustre. The only one interesting side character is Hye Yeon but she doesn’t have enough agency to make you invested.

❌ Which is why, on the whole, this drama does feel like a lot of wasted potential and has the tendency to turn your brain cells to rot.

Take my free advice; save your time and your IQ and go watch something else.

I feel the most important thing to re - iterate here is that don't skip this drama because it may seem like the continuation of Tharn Type 2. Rather decide whether to watch it based on the consensus I'm going to present hereafter on why to watch it or not.

REASONS TO EXCERCISE CAUTION BEFORE YOU WATCH
Oh, where do I start?
Blackmailing ✔️
Gaslighting ✔️
Harrasment ✔️
Trying to pass off mental health issues as just being violent and manipulative ✔️
Trying to make the lead saying that he wants to imprison the other lead romantic ✔️
(Honestly listing all the toxic stuff that happened in this series might take a whole other review.)

THE REASONS TO WATCH

Now for the reasons to watch.
The number one reason you need to watch this is because, it is in fact, not a continuation of Tharn Type. Yes, Fiat and Leo are in it, but it feels like the characters here are a more accurate representation of what they were meant to be in Tharn Type 2. The storylines of both characters are explained much better here, and there are actual explanations to their behaviour in the prequel.

And yes, watching the prequel would help you understand some scenes better, but Don't Say No works as a standalone series just as well.

The second point as to why you should watch Don't Say No is because of the cast. I haven't seen most of the actors in any major works before this, and for beginners, they're quite good. They seem to have captured the essence of their characters perfectly and it says a lot about the actors when they are able to invoke the exact emotions from the audience suitable to their actions. Yes, some of the crying scenes and the intimate scenes could have been better, but for first timers you could tell they did their best.

Finally, if neither of the arguments have convinced you, or you're still on the fence, my final defence : Leon ☺️.
Just watch it for Leon. That boy has got me and Phob falling for him. Honestly I was quite suprised that such a sweet and respectful character is present in the MAME universe, but he is, and honestly, I believe he's reason enough to watch the series.

So there you go : this has been reasons to watch or not to watch Don't Say No.

Sweet + Entertaining + Fast Pace

Positives:
-Entertaining: I tried so many of these sweet dramas (modern and costume) and this one stood out for entertainment value. Pacing is great and I never got bored. It actually does have a simple story to tell and the romance/jokes are not trying too hard. Their daily lives are full of interesting moments which made me smile, lol, squeal, excited, and wanting more.
-Perfectly cast: GORGEOUS respectable yet full of contrast male lead character (main reason why I watch dramas) plus a cute and assertive female lead, with a young and energetic cast of friends. They all fit their characters well, have fun interactions with each another and delivered good performances.
-Fight scenes: there are a good amount here done by male lead himself and the martial arts director and crew deserves recognition.
-Production: although not a big budget drama, everything from wardrobe, hair & makeup, setting, camera work, fight scenes, CG are done well. Nothing annoying stood out that takes away from story/characters. I can tell production cares and want to deliver a fun drama for people to enjoy.
Negatives:
-Some typical romance cdrama tropes but with a male lead like that, who cares...
-Over simplified throne struggles which is not a reason I watch this drama.

So if at the end of the day you just want to come home, relax, destressed, and enjoy something easy and fun, watch this. =)

Everything about this drama is superb. Let me tell you that I only had few little times in my life this feeling while watching some Asian or western show, this amount of excitement, fascination and admiration. I've fallen too deep in this endless hole named Nirvana in Fire and I don't want to go out from here ever. No seriously, this is one breathtaking, majestic piece of art, it crawls under your skin so naturally, so addicting and it stays there, I think forever. Every detail is incredible, from such high and expensive production, brilliant idea and intricate plot, amazing script where each episode was heavy and carefully detailed to magnificent acting, character development and music. I don't think I could ever put in words all the praise I have for this drama nor I think it could ever be possible, it just has to be seen to be understood.

I cried, laughed, cringed, shouted, smiled, raged and did all sorts of things while watching this drama, I even had to make pause of few days cause I didn't want to finish it. Ever. I know, it may seem too subjective, I guess it is but if I take out all too attached feelings still this is a drama which deserves to be praised and greatly received.

The cast was brilliant. From Hu Ge as too intelligent and clever strategist with many secrets and Wang Kai as loyal, brave and reckless prince who were the main leads in this woven plot, to other side characters: funny and dense General Meng, sweetie pie and awesome martial artist Fei Liu, astonishing and beautiful princess warrior Ni Huang, calm smart and always looking relaxed consort Jing, joyful, carefree and weirdly intelligent Lin Chen, crazy over power and greedy Emperor, faithful and innocent Jingrui, the dignified Marquis Yan, the most loyal retainers of Su ge ge, all of them were simply outstanding, list is too long. ;)

The one who shined the most in this drama is no doubt Hu Ge as Mei Chang Su, he was truly amazing. Man who lost everything where he was young, who lived and fought with only one purpose- to avenge his family and all those innocent lost lives of Chi Yan's army. He became a grand and calculating man with intelligence higher than everyone's else. I loved how Hu Ge portrayed him, as cold, emotionless man who didn't let feelings get in the way and cloud his judgement not one single moment, always being rational and moving forward according to his plan which he was making for 12 years. Cause in this game he couldn't afford himself that, otherwise his enemies would easily defeat him. But under that shell he was the same Lin Shu, kind with good heart and will to fight against injustice and evilness. I fell so much for him, his gestures, mind, expressions, movement, everything was really powerful about that man.
And the other one who has won me was certainly Prince Jing. He was opposite of Su Zhe, quick-tempered and disobedient, always hot headed and too reckless but loyal, brave and firm in his decisions, I really respected that side of him, his unyielding morals and fighting for justice no matter what. It was so entertaining to watch two of them bickering, arguing and sharing their opinions, prince Jing was always bringing fear to Su Zhe cause he was the only one who could actually make Su Zhe's plans not going in the way they should and mess something up, I loved their bromance, their powerful bonding, their attachment to each other, they looked so cute, sometimes like a romantic couple. ;) And I think that Wang Kai really nailed it, he is such a talented and great looking actor, looking forward seeing him more in the future.

I enjoyed in the feeling they gave me, their characters so endearing and strong, greatly written indeed. I enjoyed in all of them but those two especially captured my heart along side with little monkey Fei Liu. What is so fantastic and attractive about this drama are so many awesome bromances, friendships, funny moments in all that seriousness and revenge fights, many of those characters were like a family, I loved their talking, their joking around the house, their ultimate protections towards each other, and that subtle, little amount of romance I really really loved, it was such a wonderful addition to all those powerful feelings.

Without even one little dull moment, I can only say KUDOS to the whole production team and the writers. Production quality is so high and impressive with great action scenes, wonderful costumes where even the shades of colours fitted perfectly to the characters who wore them and not to mention settings and sceneries, every scene shot outdoor was really delightful for watching and every scene shot indoor also was beautiful. Effects and CGI look very realistic, which is pretty awesome for some Chinese drama. And the best thing of course is the script, it is something the most important that made this drama to be this breath taking, intense and phenomenal.
Oh well what else did I expect when it's the same team from whom big names like Battle of Changsha (personally my fav.), The Disgusier, All quiet in Beijing and Love me if you dare are from? ;)

So if you like badass action scenes filled with fantastic developed story line, interesting plot with revenge, political maneuverings and intrigues, astonishing melodies (music in this show is so beautiful, whole OST is wow) and if you're into The Count of Monte Cristo kind of feeling then you should definitely give it a try. Plus many eye candies who weren't there just to be eye candy, they actually had a role and importance. ;)
It may seem too confusing in the beginning with introducing too many characters but after a few episodes you''ll get used to it, just don't give up.

I got too attached to this drama, too fascinated by its existence and in such an emotional state I dare to say that I'm anticipating more dramas like Nirvana in Fire, more dramas which will engrave in my heart and capture me in their little world for a lifetime. Thank you. Thank all of you who participated in making this grand and glorious show. I'll never be able nor I ever want to be able to forget this drama, the most wonderful Asian drama with most mind blowing script.

If you are bored then it’s quite interesting to watch . But the plot was very annoying.

What I like in this drama is it’s very light, watchable to avoid boredom and the story was slightly different from other dramas.
But I seriously hate this drama because of the FL’s character. She is nice, cute and simple as it shows. But without knowing the truth how can she just move out from the house and blamed her parents for her biological parents’s death. Is it really that simple. If someone addopted you adter your parent’s death and loved for the long time, and suddenly someone tells you that they are the murderer of your parents, how could you believe the stranger instead of them who are so nice to you along the years. How could anyone be so rude to them? If I was in her place, I would suspect them, but thinking of all those years when I’m being loved by someone that much, I’ll definitely try to find out the truth but I wouldn’t leave them that easily. This is the only reason why I hate this drama.

A complex story with many more deep-seated conflicts and emotional drama than it initially reveals

Prologue:
"Motel California" piles up drama in reverse, so to speak. The more we learn about the past, the more we understand of the tragedy...
Dramatic. Grievous, too, yet rounded in itself. Not joyful, yet the ambivalent emotions subtly creating a strange kind of warmth, because it's about human beings. Deeply hurt, insecure, imperfect and even embittered human beings who try to put aside their suffering, even suppress it, and still live their lives as best as they can.
Demanding, because as audience we might initially be somewhat reluctant to open our hearts to these people in "Motel California". (But we should, it´s worth it.)
A bitter, moving, and yet beautiful story about despite their defect nevertheless lovable people.

"Motel California" is a healing story amidst a structurally sickening, toxic work and living environment. It's primarily about the 'good, true and proper' origin, the outer impression, the 'right' educational institution, the 'right' gender (male). Additionally it is as well about exploitation, discrimination and bullying. It is also a story about love. Primarily between a boy and a girl. The girl ultimately struggles through life as a deeply sad lone fighter after having to leave behind the only much loved, loyal companion – the only one who, in her eyes, ever made her feel warmth, unconditional trust, reliability, and care in a cold, rejecting world.

"Motel California" is a complex story with many more deep-seated conflicts and emotional drama than it initially reveals. The recurring flashbacks gradually provide more valuable insights. This helps us better understand what is presented to us "today." Accordingly, only over time do we get emotionally closer to the protagonists, i.e., in the course of the second half.
"Motel California" tells of complicated life, of great pain, and above all of the FLs pain, who barrels through life with a disturbingly repellent shell. But many others also carry injuries and scars. Wonderful actors help us feel the drama within the drama through their strong performances.

The story, based on a novel, tackles demanding material. Quite courageous, because what torments and drives the two protagonists internally is not always pleasing on the outside. Especially the FL, with her incorrigible defiance and exorbitance, is sometimes hard to bear. Moreover, her deep pain, which sometimes almost spills out of her eyes, can be quite intense. Respect!!! For daring to uncompromisingly and soulfully tackling in a KDrama the distressing, uneasy dark side of emotional realities in an otherwise highly polished South Korea. And for Lee Se-young to take on the difficult, deeply wounded, ambivalent, and insecure character of Ji Kang Hee, who fights against the rest of the world from a seemingly lost position.

This is not a light-hearted KDrama. "Motel California" is not easy fare. Nevertheless, the latent severity is repeatedly dissolved by soul-warming scenes or channeled through pointedly inserted, humorous scenes. Additionally, there are soothing details between the lines, e.g. in dialogues, mise en scene, and atmospheric lighting.

What ultimately turns out to be a love story, at first starts of somewhat clumsily. At times, it might feel like a study of an almost toxic emotional dynamic between a man and a woman. In their rather awkward addictive habit and sometimes inappropriate ambivalence the love between them still seeks its way in difficult terrain. Over time we get to know the characters a bit more – their motives and backgrounds, as well as their unresolved, unredeemed feelings of guilt. Compassion may spread. And quite a lot so. This is KDrama par excellence. It's worth sticking with “Motel California” and not abandoning the two main leads (nor everyone else) along the way.

Layer by layer, the cloak of forgetting and suppression is gently removed over the 12 episodes. This cloak protectively covered the unresolved feelings. Yet, ultimately it turns out as emotional prison that has long prevented authentic, sincere encounters and healing communication.

The 'Motel California' ultimately represents a nurturing vessel for such encounters and healing. It is a symbol for origin, stigma and opportunity alike. The 'Motel California' forms an island in the sea of cruel rumor mills, social control, social ostracism, and discrimination. The name of the motel – "California" – represents the dream of another world. The motel as an establishment, in turn, stands for what the protagonist was always ashamed of in her childhood. For what caused her to experience painful 'othering' as a child. She was different and grew up under shattered, disreputable, and ultimately tragic family circumstances. I.e. that she is different – not as she should be – was (and is) mercilessly mirrored by her environment. She was not recognized as a full member of society in a small world where everyone seems to know everything about everyone else . And the 'disreputable' that clung to her was inevitably linked to the 'motel' in her eyes – the motel as a mirror of her inconsolable, almost unbearable, and still unresolved injuries of her childhood and youth. Nevertheless, the motel is also her home and witness to her forgotten (including good) childhood memories. "Home, Bitter Home", so the title of the original novel. At last the Motel also becomes a social hub for those who are ready to find redemption. This is thanks not least to Kang Hee's father, who, with his liberal, unmistakably patient, and trusting manner, opens the field for it.

Nevertheless, I also have criticism:
Quite inappropriate in view of the difficult, emotionally complex theme of this KDrama are, in my eyes, the really intrusive product placements – almost as if a commercial break is being inserted every now and then... Cringey!
