"The more secrets you know, the sooner you will die"

Flying Swords of Dragon Gate Inn was a weirdly addictive drama despite uneven storytelling and even more uneven acting. If you are looking for a drama centered around the famous Dragon Gate Inn, look elsewhere. This inn might as well have been named the Flamingo Palm Tree Inn as little as the mythology of the inn played into the story. If, like me, you see where Nie Yuan is listed as a main character, prepare to be disappointed. His Zhao Huai An was a supporting character who occasionally lent emotional and martial arts support. This was primarily a palace drama and a case of missing royal twins who grew up to be the princess and crown prince. The only trouble was, only one person knew how to identify them and he wasn’t talking.

There will be slight spoilers from the first few episodes in the next *two paragraphs* to follow because the synopsis is not what this drama is about, if you want to avoid them, please skip down to general comments:

*The emperor’s consort Lady Lan bears him twins while he is away. The jealous empress manages to steal the girl baby while Dr. Feng quickly takes the boy child and gives him to General Yu who hands the baby off to Zhao for safe keeping. The eunuch and close ally to the empress, Wan Yu Lou, accidentally kills Lady Lan. The emperor returns to find Lady Lan dead and only a deformed daughter that he orders to be killed. Wan and the empress work to cover up their vile deeds with Wan agreeing to secretly adopt the baby princess. The two are determined to find the missing crown prince as well.

*Twenty years later Hu Zhong Yu is one of Zhao’s disciples, though Zhao isn’t around much. Hu also vowed to protect the young master of the Ma clan, Ma Tian You. When the Wanma Hall is destroyed and the young master goes missing Hu goes in search of him. During this time, he rebuilds the Dragon Gate Inn with the help of the Xia princess Bu Lu Du and tomb raider Gu Shao Tang. Later, Hu sees Tian You entering the palace grounds and follows him. Dressed as a eunuch Hu ends up serving the Western Depot under You Jia and his second in command Yu Hua Tian, a no-nonsense warrior who unknowingly to You is one of the adopted daughters of the evil Eastern Depot commander, Wan Yu Lou. Hu and Yu find themselves going from adversaries to allies as they struggle to survive the dangerous politics of the palace driven by an incompetent emperor and a treacherous Eunuch Wan.

This drama focused on the relationship between Hu Zhong Yu and Yu Hua Tian. The two actors had a nice chemistry together and were fun to watch. The other dominant stories involved Wan and his “daughters” and how he used them to gain power and advantages over his enemies. Zhou Huai An and Jin Xian Gyu showed up to guide the patriotic rebels against Wan and to give sage advice. Two of the most annoying characters to ever set foot in Dramaland were the princess Bu Lu Du and tomb raider Gu Shao Tang. They bickered non-stop and fought over Zhong Yu for 38 ½ episodes. They were childish and downright dangerous to have as allies. With the exception of Yu and Jin as the drama progressed, most of the female characters were not shown in a positive light. Thankfully, Yu, for the most part, was a thoroughly competent warrior and character. She protected those she loved and was unafraid to stand up to evil. On a side note, I was happy to see old kung fu movie star, David Chiang, in the role of Dr. Feng.

While there were scenes at the Dragon Gate Inn, they were few and far between. Most of the action took place at the palace. The “Who’s your daddy?” storylines gave a slightly different angle to the usual fight for the throne trope. It also changed relationship dynamics when people thought they knew who the royal children were and caused heartache as well. The censors could be felt when characters awkwardly declared that love was only between a man and a woman. This sentiment was largely overshadowed as one of Wan’s daughters deeply loved Yu thinking Yu was a male eunuch. Hu fell in love with Yu thinking the same thing. Both still loved Yu when “he” was revealed to be a woman. Love was love regardless of gender which felt like a bold step for a Cdrama. Flying Swords of Dragon Gate Inn could be campy and fun, dark and emotional, with terribly uneven acting and annoying characters, but it was also hard to stop watching.

Straightheaded male lead falls for the cute and persisted minded female lead.

With this drama being 24 episodes long, i would expect the cute scenes to come slightly earlier. This was a slight disappointment because they official got together so late, like finally at ep 16 ? Like what was happening during the first 16 episode? I mean it was kinda due to the male lead's character being kinda blockish , and straight forward. I think it started strong, where it had the potential, because the first scene was a cute encounter between the female and male lead.

The female lead actress is short is stature, which makes her cute)( although many people dont like the actress) anyways.... She bumps into the male lead ( literally) and falls into the river on her first day of school. She wanted to transfer to another major. She is saved by the second male lead ( who turns out to be her childhood friend, which she doesnt find out till later). She basically missed the chance to take the transfer test and gets stuck into the sculpting class/major. I forgot to add that she knocked down the male lead's sculpture. They are now in the same class.
Male lead is a straight forward, cool, wooden character. He's good at sculpting. Through various encounters the male lead starts to crush on the female lead. During the first 16 episode, he likes her but doesn't staight up say he likes her. On many accounts his dorm mates ask him to take the initiative. The female lead also has a good friendship between the second male lead.

The sweet part comes from their kiss and finally them being together. Those scenes are especially cute. I feel like the drama now just pack it all the end , all the sweet and romantic scenes. This drama , they shot their kissing scenes a little different, they dont show them full on kissing , but dont directly film it, so its moree mysterious lol ? Another thing thats really cute is their height difference. But overall their romantic scenes were super cute, like them dressing up in japanese kimono and dating :)

I dont think they developed the story particularly well. If you asked me there isnt a heavy focus on their sculpting class. The last bit focused on trying to save their major and not let them close out on the sculpting class. I didnt like the girl who had a crush on the male lead. She acted like she was weak and pathetic to get the attention of the male lead and also the female lead. She tried to to be friends with the female lead.... She was literally in almost all the scenes of when the female lead and male lead were together, like seeing them together and then you see her sad face .... lol . I was like , why are you everywhere they are???

The mini drama deals with small romantic cliche sequences. It seems to be very random without connection but it leads to one point in the end. There is no special music, no deep plot or character development. The male actors are handsome in different ways, the female lead is clever, pretty but a bit strange. It is a lighthearted time killing entertainment. All in all, this is a clever promotion for the movie with the same title (planed release at 23.06.2018). The viewer get the chance to get to know the cast and a first impression of the editing style... I will watch the movie!

Among the dozens of dramas dealing with the time travel trope I've seen, this is one of the most intelligent ones, in my opinion competing only with Long Love Letter, an older Japanese drama with which it oddly shares more than it may seem.

The plot is surprisingly cohesive. I believe this is due to the fact that it doesn't linger on the technicalities of time travel itself, that is how did Jin fall into the past, why or what's the trick. By glossing over the sci-fi aspects, the drama can focus on the consequences of his jump, how his being in a place where he should not be is going to change not only his life, but the future he knows, triggering a chain of uncontrollable events.
Furthermore, it gives both the main character as well as the viewers the chance to reflect upon the ethics of the medical profession. In this sense, the drama is at the same time current and timeless.

It's strength however is in the portrayal of 19th century Japan. I grew increasingly fond of the side characters, was enthralled by the Courtesan Nokaze's story - also the most harrowing character in the drama - laughed at Sakamoto Ryoma's antics, adored Ogata sensei's wise demeanour and loved to meet all the other famous historical figures, also finding out that in choosing the cast and costumes, they tried to stay true to the physical appearance of these people as shown in ancient portraits.

All in all, scenography, photography and acting are excellent. Each episode introduces new characters and medical challenges, all of which I found extraordinarily interesting and intriguing, so much that I binge watched 11 episodes in a little more than 2 days and am now eager to start season 2.

The weak point of this show is the music. It's so repetitive, by the end I wanted to tear off my hair. Personally, I'd have appreciated the use of some traditional music, of which there are vague hints here and there, but not enough to establish a mood. I believe the ost is made of only one song and one or two instrumental pieces. A mediocre choice, in my book.

I have no doubt I'm going to re-watch this soon enough, possibly with a watching partner who's as interested as I am in the medical field. I suggest you try out this drama only if you like medical shows: that's the main focus of JIN, so if you're looking for something else you may be disappointed.

Honesty is key- This drama made Hyun Bin unlikeable

That is a hurdle to tackle. Making Hyun Bin, one of the most charismatic and magnetic Korean actors working today, unlikeable. Thank God for CLOY in that sense-otherwise I might`ve remembered him as this arrogant, borderline psychopathic Jin-heon whose pathetic indecisiveness almost made me drop my first Korean drama. Alas, that didn`t happen. Like many mentioned before, it is important to acknowledge the good parts of this drama, which is obviously acting and even the story wasn`t written half bad. Kim Sun-a as Kim Sam Soon is great, she sells it completely(it`s kinda funny to see what Koreans back then thought fat was) it`s just that her character is so grading, also bordering on psychopathic. This drama shows two very unstable people falling in love(?) only their personalities, in reality, would never, ever work.

The ending and kissing scenes are probably my favorite parts of this show, as the ending is strangely mature and complex, when compared to what we`ve been seeing so far- utter displays of unnerving immaturity on both sides. That being said, now I`m going to go in on just why this whole drama is so farfetched, and incredibly disagreeable. And it all pretty much stems from Hee-jin. Not her as a character, in it of itself, but just how many times she`s used as an excuse for both Sam Soon`s and Jin-heon`s problems. In fact, I commented on one of the episodes that, even though Jin-heon has ended up with Sam Soon, he`s still sus in my eyes, because up to the last episode, he was all about Hee-jin, despite having feelings for Sam Soon. He never once instilled that confidence in me of being over Hee-jin and his indecisiveness, coupled with a few scenes of Sam Soon plainly taking his disrespect just pushed me over the edge and had me giving this score to this drama. I love strong characters, and I don`t mind characters to whom I can`t relate, or even like, but I can`t forgive this hot-n-cold take just on the basis of first love. In "Coffee Prince", Han Kyul was also in love with someone for 9 years, but when it came down to it, he gave up. I just don`t feel like Jin-heon ever definitely gave up, though they were hellbent on proving that to us. It just didn`t work. And I also strongly dislike how their main troubles were related to that love triangle, as if they themselves aren`t a whole mess and a half to deal with. At times I felt exasperated, just HOPING that one of them will nip this at the bud and move on. Yet, they ended up together. I don`t know, the main leads, although brimming with chemistry, just mismatch as a couple due to their tempers. And when most of the story is about that, it becomes a chore to watch.

Now I get the low rating...

Loopholes are everywhere. I do not understand the logic behind the "portal". and there are many scenes that you, as the viewer, may have to assume that 'maybe they brought it with them'. also, though I like Xing Fei, there are parts in the series where her expressions do not match the scene, and Xu Kai Cheng's acting is awkward (for me). Also, the chemistry between them is sometimes a little bit too forced to my liking.
What got me through the series is the fast-forward button; without that, I would have dropped this series after the episode where they got back to the 'modern' world.
What I hate the most about the story is the lack of communication between ML and FL. and I really hate the character of An Jingling, like what is wrong with your logic!!! you that is known to have a good mind is lacking logic. Like where is the logic in that!!!

BADDEST HEART LINE

This is an exquisite drama that is the first and more realistic in it's context, it has got a very wonderfu and powerfull chemistry between the main leads that is Tian and his brother Yang as well as his better half Jiu however I must say that some characters might be shallow but the plot and the execution is remarkable much as I still find Zhang's reason for committing suicide in the first place absurd and stupid and there's the annoying fact that Yang has a mother who is totally ungifted and dense and she's pretty good at stirring trouble for everyone that she doesn't benefit from. But really the bromance beats me as the blood brothers Tian and Yang have that affection that just beats any other that I have known in any drama before it makes me jealously wish things were the same with my brother and Jiu is probably the best character that you'll admire for being quiet and a bit dumb when it comes to things like love, I respect Tian who understands the weight of that uneasy burden of being the first born and I appreciate that about him while his Mother Madam Li even if she can go overboard at times and is extreme, she portrays the very best struggles, pains, fears and strife of motherhood which is what made me on a whole scale refer to this drama as the most realistic youthful bl drama that I have ever seen. I can't also forget the remarkable length of the episodes that makes you explore the whole story in detail and I like the fact that the pacing is perfect to the point that the story doesn't feel rushed, compressed or summarised. All in all, To Sir with love makes me understand what the true picture of coming out is and doesn't portray it as a garden of butterflies and rainbows as most dramas do but rather it gives you the hardships, rejections, sacrifices, betrayals and regrets which form the most true composition of life, for 2022 having been the worst year of my life, To Sir, With Love has emerged as one of the good things that have given it a good close and is one of my best bl series I have watched for this whole year.

It took me a while to get into this drama. The first 10 episodes were really dull and I don't blame the actors/actresses, but I do blame the storyline. The story did pick up after episode 10. Cheng Xiao (Lu Qing Qing) is the type of actress that needs to grow on me because my first impression was okay but not someone I can truly praise right now. I would have to see more acting from her since this is just my 2nd time viewing her. She really does well in dancing and singing. I did love the main lead actor Jason Gu (Nangong Yi Xin) but this was my first time seeing him play a serious role. I loved all of the martial art and the fantasy was great. The costumes of the Empress were all beautiful, never seen that design before and I applaud whoever is the designer. Thank you to all the actors/actresses who did very well.

Beautiful cinematography, wonderful cast, stellar acting, amazing story

I watched this drama on TV, waiting for it every day, 2 episodes, and rewatched it again when it was re-broadcasted on TV. From the first episode, I could tell that it was a great drama. When I started watching I didn't know how many episodes it would be, thus it didn't matter that it was 74-75 episodes. Just felt a kind of lost when it ended.

Story
It was supposed to base on a real person, though the story was modified, it is a great story altogether. I could really feel the despair whenever the Wu family face a particularly difficult time and amazed at Zhou Ying's way to overcome each difficulty.

Acting/cast
Sun Li as the protagonist is amazing, but basically, every actor/actress did their job very well, even though their role was just the maid or the bodyguard.

Music
The music was wonderful. It keeps playing in my head long after I finished watching.

I didn't feel bored after rewatching it a few times, as each time I notice something I didn't realise before.

A tribute to math, pure love, humanity...

I’m starting to watch Melancholia by getting myself to be more open-minded in the definitions of love, and not just what a social condition leads us to accept it. Melancholia portrayed “taboo romance” related to socially-sensitive topics about student-teacher relationships developed through their love for mathematics, though it never crossed the line. Love is a universal language as an expression of feeling, it is a human heart. I respect the author for her courage to bring this theme into the drama.

BaekJi couple shows us a pure and innocent love story, that differs from the typical romance we've seen so much before. The romantic scenes are shown by how much they love and care for each other through math and actions, rather than lots of passionate physical scenes. This math couple is loving each other in a very meaningful way. The two of them are healing each other and changing each other lives to be better people. Their relationship is far beyond the usual typical lovers. 7 years for finally she acknowledged him as an equal and partner she falls in love with and be socially accepted. They got their well-deserved happy ending after all the melancholic love journey they had to undergo. The ending is so mature, beautiful, simple but clearly shows us that they are a couple, absolutely mesmerizing.

The use of mathematics as a subject makes the uniqueness. Being a non-mathematician, I can feel how math could be so beautiful. Melancholia shows us a unique perspective on "human problems" through the eyes of a mathematician and uses the meaning of mathematics as a metaphor in the journey of life and love.

Melancholia gives us life lessons in many aspects of life and also portrays humanity. This drama shows the character development of casts and proved that people can change and be better. Melancholia also explores parenting, the education system, mental health, injustices and privilege for high society, unbridled ambitions, academic and corruption scandals, etc.

Giving you the rollercoaster of emotions, Melancholia with its pure romance, beautiful osts, and beautiful cinematography will be one of my all-time favorite KDramas. Big thanks and cheers to the screenwriter, director, casts, staff, and crews for this beautiful drama, especially to Lim Soo Jung and Lee Do Hyun. They proved that they could fall in each other regardless of the age gap as long as they love and match each other. Their chemistry is on fire!

Watch it because of Evan Lin

actually I've started this drama the first time and then put it down after watching 1 episode, because at that time I felt nothing attracted me to this drama.
but after I finished the drama "Fall In Love" starring Oliver Chen with Evan Lin, I started to be interested in Evan Lin's acting there and restarted this drama, and I was quite surprised because his acting was very good even for his first drama in FIL and second for Crush. he delivered very well, like an actor who has been acting in the drama world for a long time.

I feel that the development of the story in this drama is quite interesting even though after 16 episodes everything seems to have changed drastically in terms of the story and the main leads character, but so far I can still accept it, although I wish the author would maintain the male lead character as a famous songwriter after he turned into a CEO. it would be great if it was kept, but yeah...it doesn't disappoint me either of course even if it's different.

the acting of the casts in this drama is also good, but lacking for second leads in my opinion. What makes and attracts this drama is only the main leads for me. both in terms of their chemistry which is really very good or in terms of their good acting performance, especially Evan Lin. (I became a fan of him after watching this drama and Fall in Love), but wan peng's acting doesn't really stand out in my opinion here, but well it's still in a good category for that, although sometimes I still feel her acting development is not that different from her other dramas .

I quite like the soundtrack in this drama, especially what Evan Lin brought after episode 16 entitled "yuan lai wo hen ai ni" I just realized that he is also a reliable dancer and singer.
this is one of the romantic and sweet chinese modern dramas.

OVERALL : 9/10 for this drama.

“The Effect” definitely had a strong effect on me. It’s really impressive how they turned the cliche-situation of the beginning (very similar to average BL dramas like 2 Moons) upside down. Sadly, the production value was a bit underwhelming, I feel like they could have put a little more effort into that, especially when there’s only three episodes. But the storyline was very well-done and so true to the title!

Shin as a character seemed so real, it really hurt badly. They also did a good job in depicting the aggressor (Keng) as a victim in his own right, without downplaying his actions and thus leaving no space for the audience to sympathise up to the point of forgiving him. Maybe adding another episode to the series would have helped to make Keng’s development more realistic though, him cracking up in ep. 2 seemed rushed to me. The supporting cast was okay (didn’t see the sweet Pramote/Bright thing coming), Keng’s parents felt out of place though. I liked how in the course of ep. 3 one could see how little the people around understood how much of an effect their seemingly small actions and talks could have. Boy Sompob’s song was heartbreaking as always, the overall use of music was just meh. I honestly don’t know what exactly the ending is supposed to mean, but it doesn’t really matter imo.

I’m impressed.

Exceed Expectations!!!

At first I thought this series is one of many, not unique and mainstream. I was right and I was wrong. Yes, BBS is one of many but it is so unique that it vanquish all of the cliches in typical BL dramas that we loathe. I would like to dissect this series in few criteria:
1. The Actors & The Acting
I have watched Nanon and Ohm in their previous works and no doubt that they are good but BBS has elevated them to the
point of being great. Their chemistry is out of this world. Whether its spoken dialogue or mere body language, they both
nail it. I could feel the pain of jealousy and the pain of longing just by looking at them. Not many actors can do this. The
supporting casts also nailed their character. Pat's father and Pran's father make you wanna punch them in the face.

2. The Story Line
Yes it is a university theme BL but its not the focus of the show. Pat & Pran's relationship still the major focus how they
navigate their feelings and uncertainty overshadowed everything else.

3. The Realistic Reality
- What I love the most about BBS is that it shows Asian cultural point of view in realistic way. The obedience of the
children to the parents no matter how naughty they may seem. The un-selfish family-first attitude and conflicts being
not resolved with words of apology. Unlike normal series, the happy ending comes fast and certain, BBS shows that it takes
time to heal.,,, and time can heal.

4. Directing
- Aof proving that he is indeed the director of choice for BL world. All the cliches and bulls***t of BL he vanquished it
in BBS. Aof also managed to fool the viewers by the of episode 11 with the trailers for episode 12. It made me depressed
for a week in waiting for the finale. It is nothing like it seems.

5. The Music
Nanon is indeed a very talented singer and musician and the theme song revelation by the end of the series makes us
appreciates the series even more.

Do watch this series and I hope Netflix pick it up for the whole wide world to watch.

North against South. One (if not the first) Spy-KDrama, atypically action-packed… but hard to get

In 1998, "White Nights 3.98" as a TV production for the first time ventured into completely new territory - not only spatially but also in terms of content. It is about the espionage activities related to the development of advanced nuclear weapons, as well as conflicts between the United States, Russian secret services and mafia, which are carried out on the backs of North and South Korea. The title "White Nights 3.98" on the one hand refers to midsummer nights in northern latitudes and thus to the scene of action: Mongolia. On the other hand it relates to the supersonic flight speed measured in the ´Mach´. Here '3.98' denotes the speed at which one of the protagonists is traveling in a key scene.

------------------
As a child, Min Gyeong-bin had actively witnessed the heroic death of his father, who was able to foil the assassination attempt by North Korean Unit 124 on President Park in 1968 while deployed by the Jongro police. His childhood dream is to become an Air Force pilot, dancing through the air at high speed. Gyeong-bin actually manages to be trained as a pilot, but due the circumstances he ends up being deployed to the secret service. His target is nuclear researcher Anatoly Jang, who is deputy director of the Institute for Atomic Energy Research in Irkutsk, Russia. The FSB, the Chechen mafia and the North Korean secret service are also interested in him, secret information and the latest generation of nuclear bombers. The Nort Koreans mobilize one of their best snipers: Kwon Taek-hyeong.
Taek-hyeon's father was part of Unit 124 at the time. As the black sheep of his family, Taek-hyeon usually had a hard time. After helping his first love Anastashia to flee south through the Imjin River as a teenager, he also lost his heart along with her. He learned how to shoot as a soldier, and as an unscrupulous sniper he can now be bought around the world - including a terrorist rebel group in the Arab world, far from home. Now, however, he is hired by his own people. He's supposed to eliminate Anatoly Jang. Far too late he realizes his target being the father of his first and only love, who in turn is now an agent of the Russian FSB...
-------------------

This KDrama is atypically action-packed: with flight scenes reminiscent of Top Gun, a trigger-happy sequence where the North Korean protagonist shoots himself free in Rambo-style, underwater scenes in the Imjin River (that flows through the demilitarized zone), explosions, and more. The KDrama actually opened up a spectacular new genre in the South Korean series world. And yet. "White Nights 3.98" had a difficult stand in South Korea in several ways. Ratings started high and then plummeted.

There are several reasons that tell us more about South Korea, than about the KDrama. "White Nights 3,98" is based on the novel of the same name and is an exciting and thoroughly entertaining, at times well-done as well. It is also documenting, that in spite of Cold War having already ended, North and South Korea with their particular political dynamic represent the last and still red-hot stronghold of a Cold War that is actually still going on. However, the KDrama comes to TV at a time when the North and the South just startet to look to the future with more optimism, with their hopeful, positive "sunshine politics" and the newly created Kŭmgang-san region dedicated to South Korean tourism in North Korea. "White Nights 3.98" might present a hot topic that is always up to date, though it completely missed the social topic of the time. People didn't really feel like giving their hearts to warring spies - North against South. So even though at the beginning, the series was still in third place, its ratings rapidly went down.
There is another reason for this. A considerable part of the scenes (3 out of 12 months of shooting time) were shot abroad, mainly in Russia and partly in Uzbekistan. This brings exotic flair to the series orbit, which in KDrama is otherwise concentrated on the peninsula. (Compared to other KDramas, the total production costs were accordingly three times as high.) However, the international subject matter, the dramaturgical interdependence with the secret services of the USA and the Soviet Union, also required native speakers who could easily find their way around the South Korean set. It repeatedly seems to be a problem to find a suitable cast - a problem that I already encountered in "Sad Love Story". Eventually, the acting performance of the Russian and American casts can´t keep up with the rest of the production. That's really a shame, because it not only offends the eye, but also the ear.
Yet, the production had to take another criticism. Director Kim Jong-hak, who excited the masses with "Sandglass" just a couple of years before, now caused offense by working with deliberate reminiscences of that earlier production - with similar or even the same scenes. One or the other seemed strangely familiar to me, too. But those who don't know "Sandglass" won't mind. And even so, it doesn't really have to bother. Nevertheless, it was not well received as a 'gag' at the time. The South Korean audience was 'not amused' about it.
Additionally, criticism referred to the rather sloppily drawn central character Kwon Taek-hyeong. In the original novel, the protagonist, who is difficult to grasp, is probably a lot more understandable in his ambivalence and complexity. The series massively simplifies/slims his profile. There is comparatively little left of his dark, evil, unscrupulous side in the script. Little remains of his ambivalence either. You also learn practically nothing about that background. Finally, the story of how he went from being a teenager to an unscrupulous terrorist is simply left out. Only the painful loss of Anastashia remains. In the series version, Choi Min-soo had to make up for a few things with his presence in order to convey a strong profile to this tragic character.

"White Nights 3.98" may be a spy thriller, but it's not a about male heroes only. There are plenty of women involved as events unfold. Of course, there are also tragic entanglements in love. Ultimately, the driving dramaturgical forces are not ideologies, people and homeland, but heart and pain, impulsive and human decisions. Whatever one may accuse "White Nights 3.98" of, it comes up with strong emotional moments in the proven KDrama manner.

By the way, here you can see Park Eun-bin making her acting debut as a six-year-old, and Song Hye-kyo was still in the starting blocks of her career back then, too... if ever you get to see the KDrama. With subtitles it is (currently) difficult to get...

Historical SIDE NOTE:
For me, in connection with "White Nights 3.98" (besides all the entertainment and star encounters), the historical context was ultimately interesting - not only in relation to the contemporary critical reception of the KDrama, but also regarding the true historical prelude storyline:
In 1968, North Korean Special Forces attempted to assassinate South Korean President Park, thus a special ´Unit 124´ had advanced as Black Op on South Korean soil. They had dived through the iced Imjin River and left the demilitarized zone behind. On their way to the Blue House, 7 km east of Paju, the group was spotted by four passers-by and reported to the police. However, the special unit was prepared for this and changed into the uniforms of the local 26th Infantry Division of the South Korean army and split up. Unnoticed by the police and military, they were able to penetrate as close as up to 100 m to the Blue House in Seoul. However, by chance or good intuition of the local police chief, the assassins were confronted at Checkpoint Jongro and engaged in a shootout. 29 of 31 members of the special unit died trying to escape or killed themselves as a precaution. One of two survivors was caught and defected to the south. The other, Pak Jae-gyong, made it back to North Korea and to the top of the military and political ranks.
