What a great drama! This drama was so poorly marketed! I never watched it because of the way it was marketed as some foolish boy who's a pushover to a mean girl. Talk about false advertising. I just recently watched it and IT IS AMAZING! What great storytelling and what FANTASTIC ACTING by Choi Woo Shik. I've never really paid attention to this actor (only noting that he plays support roles in a lot of movies and dramas) but man, is he good! I don't think I have words enough to describe this drama - JUST GO WATCH IT. I PROMISE YOU IT WILL PROBABLY BE ONE OF THE BEST DRAMAS YOU HAVE EVER WATCHED. The story is not really about a love between a boy or girl, it's more than that. It's about the sacrifices that everyone makes (and thereby becomes a "ho-gu" aka "a fool") in the process. The story deals with some solid issues that affect our society today and deals with them so deftly, with detail and sensitivity that you come away feeling positive. The characters are extremely well developed and there is cuteness abundance, especially from the main character Ho Goo. So, definitely check it out!

Honestly, I really liked this show! However, I have more than a few complaints about it. I love Agent K's character so much on how he is so smart and knows what to do. I also love the bromance he has with Woon Gwang. My main problem was Do Ha......Her character was SOOOO annoying!! This show is called "Man to Man" but she just keeps butting in. Not to mention from episode 1 to 16 every time I saw her I cringed at her hairstyle... Plus her dad was also an annoying character, but the father characters are usually like that so I let him slide. Another problem was also the story. The first episode was so promising (besides DoHa) but in the middle it got really slow and repetitive. It did pick up again towards the end though. My overall thoughts are it was a pretty good show (except DoHa) but I think watching it once is enough.

Short review:
Mel Be's driving on the lost highway with Hippie riding shot gun and supplying the entertainment. We're the passengers in the backseat enjoying the ride. Every bloody minute of it.

If anything...The music wins all the points. Jesus, the best music I have ever heard. Hippie (Ken--lead actor wrote all the music, composed, and produced all the music himself for all of Hippie's music in U-Prince series).

Long Review:
Seriously, there should be a page just for the U-Prince's. Series reviews are weird to do. Out of ALL the U-Prince's this one is my FAVORITE.
Top 3:
1. CRAZY ARTIST
2. GENTLE VET
3. THE SINGLE LAWYER

I haven't watched all the U-Prince's. I am familiar with all the actors. I had put all the series on hold forever. I seemed to have watched the ones I hated, hence the reason I never stayed. *cough* geologist *cough*.

This story is a cool guy meets nerd girl and sparks fly and love is in the air. Most people are done and bored by it. I like it. I think for me, it's because I was a nerd in high school (all girls mind you). Yup, glasses and all. I was attracted to the bad boys. I had fantasies that I would be walking in my uniform and a guy in motorcycle would think I was hot and from there it would bam. Thinking back, it sounds creepy. But hey, I was 15. Anyway, this is the premise.

Again, for most it's a very boring trope. For me it's a safe trope. I love them. I was actually worried people would spew hate on it because of it being safe. However, as I was watching it...this was far from a safe trope. It was very powerful. Furthermore, what was interesting for me in the drama was also interesting for other people who might have found it boring.

It's a trope that was carried by absolutely great acting. The actors here had great chemistry. I bought into their relationship. I felt it. When they asked "Rewatch Value" ---> I rewatched episodes as I waited for episodes to be subbed. That already tells you how much rewatch value it has. I rewatched over and over and over again. That's how much chemistry they had.

This actress can cry up a storm. Those tears are fat ass tears. I have no idea where they come from. They're like rain storm tears. Jesus, so much so, she had me crying. You feel Mel Be's pain. The lead character Mel Be is sweet and analytical, but carries a soft and fanciful side to her.

Hippie, the Crazy Artist is her perfect polar opposite but balances her analytical side and they meet on this plane of equality where they both find mutual likes for different reasons. You'll note the planetarium date. There is a mutual meeting of minds and sharing of interests that bonds these two. She inspires him and makes him more spontaneous and she joins him on the adventure she provides the direction for.

It's great fun.

Okay, let's start with the basics first- Park Hae Jin. He was such a good choice for this role. I completely understand now why the makers were so keen to take him for this drama. He played his part perfectly and delivered the right amount of emotions when it was needed. Everybody has been complaining about the female lead and it did get annoying and cringe-worthy at times, but at the end, i realised she was really good with emotional scenes. There's this scene where she is crying at K's hideout and she really nailed it there. Looking at that scene I realised that maybe she was a major miscast of the drama. Apart from them, everyone did pretty weel in their acting department.

Writing of this drama could have been even more strong. I think the makers couldn't create what they wanted to. But nevertheless, the comedy and bromance part of the drama was the highlight point. The bromance between K and Yeo Un Gwang & K and Prosecutor Lee Dong Hyun were the best. He seemed so much more comfortable with them than Do Ha.

I really liked the music of this drama. They were catchy enough to be hummed while watching the drama.

The best part of the drama was how it ended. Everyone got their closure and there were no unwanted answers left, making it one of those rare dramas with the satisfactory ending- especially with Park Hae Jin in it. I may have only discovered him on Cheese in the trap, but in Man to Man, he really did blow me away with his acting skill. I will definitely re-watch this drama after some time.

Special mention- Park Hae Jin's eyebrow flicks are LIFEEE

This drama is for the one who are patient. If you don't get nervous and angry quickly this drama is perfect for you, because it really tests your patience.

Rome plays the playboy Kongkai let me tell you haven't see yet such a horny male lead in any of the dramas I have watched,

He is on duty for.. you know what. He jumps from his mistress's bed to his wife's bed.

He's stupid enough not to see the true colours of his mistress Na Prungchat portrayed by Songkhla Pornchita let me tell you she does such a great job that you end up hating the girl.

Prungchat is the daughter of a rich family, she's a model, her makeup is always bright, I believe they chose bright colours on her lips as her lips looks bigger with bright colours. She has never been loved, so clings on men.

Arunprapai potrayed by Hargate Araya Alberta, she's bright, beautiful have a successful career, she marries Kongkai out of love, as her bf impregnated a girl and for him to do the right thing she marries Kongkai, at first there was no love, but they eventually fall in love.

Though it took Kongkai such a long time to understand that he loves Aru, but it didn't stopped him seeing that ugly mistress.

Mistress has done everything in the book to trap Kongai, each time she got him back, and when he finally said he loves his wife, she used the pregnancy lie, to get him and she was nearly successful, whereas his wife is actually pregnant and kept it secret

We do have an annoying maid, a messenger of the mistress, her inside info about Kongai, and she also learns her lesson from her.

We have such a loving & caring mother in law, the other maid, she was loving and caring, she's the mother of the annoying maid...

We have a family lawyer, he helped Kongai w/o all the time for him to give the right decision

Things go pretty slow in this drama, we don't get to see romance in each episode.

But the ones who are patient enough get to see the happy ending.

If I were the wife in the lakorn, most possibly I'd have already kicked his unfaithful ass..

Oh but she's so caring, loving, giving, that she did not do anything to hubby and that cheap mistress.

If not I'd have asked him to get tested for STD / STI .. I mean it doesn't even happen in western dramas, let alone expecting to see it in an Asian Drama is a bit nonsense but I'm only expressing my opinions

You can call me mad, mental but I cried so much when Prungchat became a nun and when Kongkai, Arunprapai and the gay friend visited her after she became a nun

PUNGCHAT becomes a nun after her husband got killed by his own mother.

The temple scene was intense & emotional

I don't usually write reviews but here we go!

About the plot, I personally think it's really good! It involves a lot of different themes but I'd say it's mostly fantasy. If you haven't watched it yet, it's a drama about a group of students of different backgrounds in a special martial arts school, but the school is involved in a lot of fantasy and I really liked that part!
I agree that in certain points the plot could have been better written, but overall it's a really good plot.

I really enjoyed the cast! Despite the fact that there were maybe two specific scenes where the acting could have been better, it wasn't as bad as some people make it seem. I think the characters were well portrayed.
The character development was a little bit too fast in my opinion, but it was still amazing to watch!

I also want to add that I personally really liked the soundtrack as well, but music taste is a more personal thing.

Not gonna lie, I was left with some questions about some of the characters, and sometimes the characters and storyline developments did go a bit too fast, but we should take in consideration that this drama was supposed to be longer than it actually was, so the fast pace became a requirement.

Overall I really enjoyed this drama, mostly the character development that the main and side characters went through, and I personally want to watch it again!

The story was just like an episode from the anime, but the acting (especially by the American girl) was not good. Also, most of the talking was worded way too dramatically for my taste. I thought I would love it because I like a lot of things like it, but it was just not right. I could watch the whole thing just fine because the action in the couple of fight scenes was good enough, but I wouldn't want to watch it a second time.

I kept seeing this drama pop-up for months without really bothering to watch it but oh boy do i regret it now.
This one left me with a feeling of emptiness rarely felt before, there's no over-the-top drama, the main couple communicated and faced problems head on without doubting each other and I just *sigh* it's so simple yet it's brilliant.
I decided to watch the first episode as a way to procrastinate studying for my exams and 30 episodes later I wanted to go back and re-watch it all over again.

The main leads were too perfect but that's just what the story's about - two perfect people meeting each other (although the kiss scenes were a bit...).
There's also a side BL story that wasn't explored as much as I wished but with China's censorship roles I'm not surprised (I ended up reading the translated novel to realise they were in fact together in the book and they were too effin cute)

Overall, it's been less than 24hours and I'm itching to re-watch it just to melt from all that lovey dovey action.

A less tragic Nirvana in Fire meets Lord of the Rings!

I writing this review with 9 episodes left (I wanna take the rest nice and slow coz I don't want this awesome drama to end).

It's important to note that the drama went into production before the author finished writing the web novel, so if anything the movie version might be truer to the original work and differ from the drama.

OK, enough of OT stuff, back to the core of review:

Fans of Lord of the Rings will rejoice that FotD is essentially a reimagining. You have the Star Formation that gives power to the Empress that is essentially the One Ring. It is essentially detrimental to Empress (it's actually something evil that is controlling her), yet she has trouble letting the precious-s-s go.

Then, there is CCS dagger-like sword that looks like Bilbo's Sting dagger. And of course the little dragon ZS is modeled after Smaug the Dragon from The Hobbit, but a good kind dragon, not an evil one. Then, when LL teased ZS with hard-to-guess riddles, that scene essentially imitated "Riddles in the Dark" between Bilbo and Gollum in The Hobbit.

Superimposed over this are scenes remiscient of Nirvana in Fire: Sick guy returns to the Capital to attain his destiny, elite guards getting murdered to frame someone, the main hero can't actually fight against powerful villains but uses his cunning to subdue them, an Imperial ruler that is cold and "heartless" even towards her own child, etc.

Nevertheless, the drama packs an awesome punch coz let's face it there is nothing new under the sun, only inspiration from some works that existed before!

“You have a face that says, ‘kick me’”.

“I searched for love like a madman all my life, but I’ve never loved myself.”

I like how the girls watch each other’s lives like it’s part of their daily television viewing.

The girls’ personalities are so different. We've got the doormat, the man slayer, the quiet one, the bossy one and the princess. They have a hierarchy of course with the two main seniors, and the three younger ones. But I liked seeing them cross the boundaries to team up together.
I think the main thing about this drama is that since we have five heroines we get a lot of personality. Things that we don’t usually get to see in Kdrama heroines, because obviously they all have to be different not the same cardboard cut out copy.

The girls have different combinations of dynamic because obviously the girls aren’t always all together at the same time.

Eun Jae
Eun Jae is the seriously boring one who is so meek and mild and the only interesting thing about her is her love interest and her backstory. So weird that such a personality has a mother like she does. The story starts and ends with Eun Jae though, and in a way, it kind of wraps it up nicely for me. We underestimate her screen value for most of the drama.

Yi Na
Senior Kang is the man slayer, and even though she was the second to arrive at the apartment, she kind of reminds me of the oldest sister. Taking everything for granted but secretly protective over the other girls.

Jin Myung
The quiet one is my favourite. Because she isn’t exactly exaggerated quiet. She’s just no-nonsense and dignified, and I loved her so much. I like how I’m surprised every time she speaks or smiles and jokes around, but she totally owns it. I really felt for her as she cuts off romance before it has time to do anything, it’s totally something I would do. There are so many things about her that I really could associate with. I had such a girl crush on her. Everything she does is awesome. The other girls also act like Jin Myung owns the house. It was sweet how much they thought of her and how she didn’t even realise how much they respected her. In a way she’s so gentle but she’s for sure the scariest of them all. Even though she’s the reserved one she has no problem being part of the girl team and being one of them.
Jin Myung’s dreams and longings are so intense and unattainable for her. She wants so much but feels she can’t ever get there.

Ji Won
Then there’s the bossy one. She’s also the eccentric one but I liked how she was the comforter of the group. She had the biggest heart and stood up for justice and all. She observes and understands people. She’s also desperate for a man, she’s everything and she tries to be so friendly and I also feel that annoyance when you try so hard to make someone like you and it just doesn’t go down. I like that Senior Kang wasn’t the only one who could talk with guys. Ji Won is so confident she kind of overpowers her men, is all.

Ye Eun
Actually, she probably bored me the most. I was really glad that she broke up with her douchebag.

Romance
It was also really great getting interested and involved with the girls’ love lines.
I could kind of see myself in all of the girls and the way they approached romance. From Senior Kang’s trust issues, to Jin Myung's too-busy excuses, Ji Won's forwardness, to Eun Jae's awkwardness, and Ye Eun's attempts at putting on a show.

“A party?”
“Yeah. They’ll be a cute girl, a lovely girl, a glamorous girl"

This drama has a bunch of fresh faces. Sure, I recognised a few here and there, but it was nice to see nobody that I already knew from another drama.
Also the fact that there are a lot of get-to-know-you relationships in this drama, it was cute and fun to see how they developed from shy or antagonistic or friends-to-lovers (“Friends shouldn’t photoshop the reality of their lives to one another”). Korean love interests, are such softies, so innocent and nice, it’s very satisfying. Also, they’re tall haha.

Even the landlady was so funny with the way she threw things at the men who lingered around the girls’ door. I really loved that part near the end when all the love interests show up one at a time to check on their lady love and each lady is so surprised to know that she has a gentleman who would bother to show up.

There’s very little soundtrack involved, which is refreshing.

Man to Man had a lot to live up to right out of the gate. Hawking an all star cast led by Park Hae Jin. This drama was going to be part spy drama, part comedy and part romance, all beautifully wrapped with a red bow. Though I don't think it was ever able to live up to its sky high expectations, I do think it was a pretty fun drama.

Man to Man's handling of its comedy was top notch! There were a number of moments that just had me rolling, especially when they were featuring the dynamic between stoic Kim Guard, Cha Do Ha and Yeo Woon Gwang. This trio kept me rolling. The effect that Woon Gwang and Do Ha have on the normally straight faced and unflappable Seol Woo kept me in stitches. I think this drama initially touted an amazing bromance between Seol Woo and Woon Gwang. I personally feel like there was some untapped potential that the drama could have played up a little more.

Overall, I think the drama had some trouble with balancing the suspense and romance. I tended to get a little tired of the political power plays. Nor was I ever all that intrigued with Mo Seung Jae's role as the main antagonist. I felt like the romance between Seol Woo and Do Ha seemed a little unnatural. I loved how they played off each other, but as a romantic couple ... the drama never really got me there.

Even though this drama can come off as a little unbalanced and a bit all over the place, its comedy is its saving grace. I so enjoyed watching Park Hae Jin play in a comedic role. His acting chops and range are on full display in his role as Kim Seol Woo, ghost agent and body guard. To be honest, I wish this drama was touted more for being about friendship and the family you choose. I worry that this drama will be remembered for not being able to live up to its hype, but I think it's a worthwhile drama. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a comedy with a little action on the side or anyone that is looking for some amazing Park Hae Jin eye candy haha!

Let me first start by saying that the casting director did a great job casting Cnblue jonghyun and seungyeon a previous old WGM couple as leads in this drama. No skinship scene looked forced and their acting was really good. I wouldn't really say it was the best drama out there because some parts of the story were a bit questionable. But nonetheless it really stook to being a romantic historical drama.
So I definitely recommend this and for you guys give this drama a try.

I really enjoyed this movie.
The story is actually quite simple but it worked well and was good.

I loved Yoo Hae Jin here. His character and acting was perfect. As for Lee Joon, his acting was great but I didn't like his character that much. I wish his character was better than that. I would have enjoyed the movie that much or maybe even more if his wasn't here.
But I liked the ending and I maybe wouldn't have enjoyed it that much if he wasn't here.

Anyways, the acting is great, the music suits the movie well.
I would rewatch it and enjoyed it that much I think.
This is just a lovable movie. Perfect if you want to want to watch something light and not think too much.
