From my opinion 'The Village: Achiara's Secret' is a failed attempt of trying to create a dramatic mystery with a bit of horror in which a girl is trying to discover an identity of a killed person, thereby revealing a very ugly truth.

Though in theory it might have been a nice story as a series, it failed on several occasions. The actors were not in the correct roles and/or acted below standards. Story was very basic in which the story was predictable several episodes advanced. Trying to create side stories which were pretty useless and non-interesting. Though I have had some spare moments of joy within this series, I can't give more than a single five for this series, which I think is on the high side.

Yong Pal definitely had potential and I was very excited about it after finding out what it was about. It seemed like something different so I decided to watch.

While the story was good, it didn't have enough time to develop. I felt like everything was rushed and that they didn't wrap it up very well. The biggest problem was that the female lead had major character issues and she wasn't ready to be in any romance until she solved them. Her relationship with the lead mainly consisted of her using him and then throwing him out when he became useless. I understand that that was how she was raised and that in a way she was just doing what was natural to her, but in the end, the issuse were never solved and I felt like their relationship was very shallow. It made me sad that they ended it like that because with a little more time in the drama it could have improved drastically. In short, I feel like the romance aspect was a total disaster.

While I didn't like some of the characters, I was very impressed with the acting and it was amazing to watch these talented actors bring the story to life. I have seen some other dramas with Joo Won but I was suprised at how well I liked him for this role.

Even though I feel like this wasn't a great drama, it never got boring or slowed down and I kind of liked that. It was really exciting to watch and it was entertaining so if you are looking for something interesting and fast paced to fill your time then I would say, "Go for it!" but if you are looking for a really well done drama with an amazing romance, then this may not be for you... I really enjoyed watching this drama but I will not be watching it again.

Hello everyone.

After the first episodes I thought the story was pretty cool for its intensity and definitely promising, but after a while it was perfectly clear they had no idea how to put it together in a coherent way. A lot of things in this drama made no sense at all, like the President´s behavior when he found out what was going on and how easily he ignored the whole situation, almost like building up people´s expectations and leading them to nothing.

Another flaw in this drama was the fact that only Lee jong Suk's character developed while the rest of the cast pretty much stayed the same, even though this drama is characterized by putting its characters through hardships that should've instigated even the slightest change in their personality.

Despite acknowleging the hard life the main characters had since a very young age, I didn't want Han Seung Hee to end the way she did because Jin Se Yeon's acting made her look fake, cynical and unpleasant, making her seem completely out of place. The whole drama involving her identity didn't help either, because while it was interesting and intriguing in the begining, it became a neverending boring drama that only confused the audience.

Honestly the last episodes were lame and full of unrealistic situations. The poorly done ending showered with this drama's characteristic predictability made me question my friend's sugestion to watch this drama. This time not even Lee Jong Suk´s outstanding acting could save him from this drama, that just like his hair, was a mess.

I can't believe I forgot about this drama...
Overall its great! Its really satisfying... I give the story/plot 8.5 ,because I wish that they had gone more into some of the stories in the drama. It had a lot of twist, my brain was working for once when watching a drama( I haven't seen so many twist since I Gap Dong). I had a lot of ,,Bad guys" drama flashbacks too ( the feel T.T), if you liked those dramas you will most probably like this one too.
The cast and acting was amazing 10/10!!! The music really fits the drama, I wanted to sing a long but I don't know korean.
Watch the drama, there is something satisfying about it (probably the many twists)!. After the second episode is when it really might get some people, if they are more into normal kdramas.

I just rewatched it again, after some time passed and decided to give it a higher score. I dont know why I like it better the second time. :)

CONS:
*2nd and 3rd episodes where way too slow
*plot was so annoying at times I almost dropped
*songs sometimes feel out of place

PROS:
*the "good" parts are way better than average dramas
*acting is great, especially In Guk and the butler
*likable cast of characters (them ajummas)
*hilarious comedy
*great song choices (Monster X, GFriend)
*mostly good pacing
*very lighthearted (finally!)
*rich son that's not a douche (bless)
*not many flaws in plot

Overall one of the better dramas out there, would totes recommend

I loved it. LOVE the main guy. His acting, voice, everything is so good. I wonder why he doesn't act in a lot of dramas... The story was also interesting, and I liked that for once the female lead is so forward! (at least in the beginning :D)

I normally don't feel like re-watching dramas, but I want to watch this one again for all the funny moments!

If you wanna watch something slightly different and not too impegnative this movie is for you!
I love times-slipping movies and this one let me taste what was like during the sengoku period in Japan, a period known for the costant military conflicts. Of course It doesn't shows much violence, after all the protagonist is just a kid. The romance between the princess and the general is more like a side story, true love is just one of the many themes displayed... Friendship, loyalty and so on. It's one of those movie that leave you with a warm feeling and a clear message.
If I was able to make you just a little curious, enjoy! =)

For the hype that this had, the reviews and the amount of times this was featured in this year's poll, I had some expectations with this one but they were not met. This is the 4th drama of 2016 I watch with the same "jerk male lead + sweet female lead + 'nice guy' = triangle" trope and, from best to worst, I rank this one 3rd out of 4.

My biggest issue with this drama (apart from the fact that I’m not a fan of leads who act like jerks and who we’re supposed to find romantic rather than toxic) is that the story is all over the place. There’s a story-line involving the three brothers, with a mystery in the middle, which gets resolved halfway through and ends up going nowhere. There’s a story-line about the restaurant they have and trying to make it succeed while not selling out, and it also ends up going nowhere. There’s a story-line about the female lead’s quest for professional growth which ends up only serving the “romantic” story-line. There’s a backstory of a character to make them less two dimensional which also ends up going nowhere. All in all, it’s like every ingredient which could have turned this into less of a cliche and more innovative was pushed aside in the benefit of the overused story-line of the love triangle.

Out of all the characters, the only one I found memorable and whose performance I enjoyed enough was Nomura Shuhei’s Touma (the youngest sibling). He’s the only one I feel has a story arc which involves making personal changes, realizing mistakes and repairing damages he has caused. The rest, I can’t say much. It seemed Miura Shohei’s character was going towards a reasonable development and in the last few episodes his entire character turned 180° for the sake of the cliche romance. It seemed that Kiritani Mirei’s character had more substance to her than being the sweet main lead who tends to be too kind for her own good, but all about her drive and career seemed to just serve the cliche romance.

And Yamazaki Kento’s character deserves a paragraph on his own. He is the jerk male lead, the one we’ve seen at least 4 times this year: we saw him in Dean Fujioka’s Mamiya Hokuto in Happy Marriage, in his Kurosawa Ayumu in Please Love the Useless Me and in Shiraishi Shunya’s Uehara Hisashi in Good Morning Call. I really dislike this trope, I think it’s toxic as heck, but the rest of the dramas at least tried for me to feel for the guy. They intended to introduce a backstory (mostly tied in with family grief) in which I could say “oh, so this is why he’s a jerk”. It never worked, but they tried. Here, everything that happens to this character, all the troubles and external arcs to change him, happen in the timeline of the drama. There is no reason why he acts this way and he doesn’t change his attitude with anything that happens to him. He has that kind of extremely subtle character change which stans of him will call development but I call bad writing.

The reason why this drama isn’t my complete least favorite of the bunch is because it’s very nicely filmed and, mostly, decently performed. The shots were brilliant and they paid attention to detail, the cinematography was very enjoyable. There are some things in the story I found interesting, like the family mystery I mentioned, the somewhat complex way in which they tried to introduce the “ex girlfriend” cliche and the youngest brother’s character growth. But it doesn’t have enough to be different from the rest of the dramas with the same trope.

All in all, if this is a trope you enjoy and male leads being jerks is your thing, for some reason, this is a very well done one of those. If you’re looking for something innovative, different and devoid of love triangles, dates in aquariums, firework festivals being a “big romantic deal” and lots and lots of misunderstandings and “I hurt you because I want to protect you” scenes, there’s not much here for you. Except for an omelette with a burger inside, which is pretty good.

I was honestly not anticipating this drama much but what an amazing surprise it has been! Even though there were some flaws in the earlier episodes, this drama has constantly gotten better and better and now at the 13th episode, I can't seem to stop smiling at the gorgeousness that is our main couple. It captures the essence of first love so beautifully and without using the numerous usual cliche tropes we see in k-dramas. Watching Bok Joo start to like Joon Hyung and both of them falling for each other more and more as their relationship advances is so reminiscent of similar experiences everyone has sometime or the other in their lives. To people who've fallen in love before, it is the best kind of nostalgic ride, letting us live those small, defining moments once more and marvel and grin at how once, we were exactly like our 2 leads. Moreover, to all those who are yet to experience love, it's a wishful dream for an experience like Bok Joo's and Joon Hyung's. And for everyone who once had love and now yearns for it, this drama is sure to make you ache even more for the giddy, passionate and unforgettable feeling of 'first love'.

I absolutely love Lee Sung Kyung and Nam Joo Hyuk in this drama! They've breathed life into their characters and made them their own, so much so that I can't imagine anyone else ever doing these 2 roles more justice than them.

Looking forward to the coming episodes! Hope the drama keeps on riding this momentum!

I am really amaze on how the creativity of the story made. I like the overall motive of this movie. The offender admit that he is wrong in the last scene which is good part that he learn to admit of his mistake because of love. Love make us crazy sometimes. But I believe the loves depend on how we define it and how we respond to situation. Doing stuffs like rape, or any unlikely inhumane acts is not an act of love but it's a "lust" that cause of some factor of irresponsible kind of love. I believe this movie is really happening in our real life. It's hypocrite to say that we can't do crazy thing because of love. As they commonly say "too much love can kill you". People has its own definition of love depends on how they interpret it base on their experiences and learning. The movie tell us many possibilities of a situation that cause of either true and selfish love. At the end of the line, we realize that love takes time to realize it's truly love. At the beginning, we feel uncertain if it's love or lust. As the time goes by, we can have our own answer of love in the right time. I believe the movie is great and awesome. A movie that Something we can be aware of. I believe its a movie that can make you cry due to several moral lessons of what love might bring you in the end. Enjoy watching this movie.

do not mind negative reviews about BIG and watch it..

this drama is the reason i signed in to this site..
though i was regular visitor of this website i didn't wanted to make a account but all these negative comments and reviews forced me to signed in write a positive review about this kdrama cuz it really deserve good positive review..

Story
it was really romcom plus melodrama..(just the way i like it)
there were sweet cheesy moments funny moment and and also the moments which make make your heart hurt and burst your mind to find a solution for their love story..
but..i must say its a happy ending!!! most people say it was a bad sad ending...but it was not.you just have to pay attention to the story from the beginning..may be for the people who watched from TV could've been little tiresome..but those who do drama marathons like me...it just a perfect drama with all the emotions!
P.S- don't blame about the ending if you don't pay attention..cuz if you did you will understand the ending will not end up getting disappointed..

Acting
Gong Yoo was perfect in both roles...the 30 years old doctor and the 18 years old smart boy..he did his job perfectly as always...he is an actor who i fell in love with for his acting skills first..
i gave a try for this drama despite of all the negative comments and reviews just because i knew he is an amazing actor who wouldn't choose stupid drama..

P.S- You must watch this if you're a fan of Gong Yoo. :P !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lee Min Jung also her did her job well. she portrayed a sweet teacher and dumb girlfriend..even though i saw her in BOF i didn't notice she was this beautiful..but with this character she was so adorable girl.

Suzy was another one who got negative comments for her character..but i think she did her role very well..even though i don't like her that much she portrayed that teen character amazingly..

Shin Won Ho didn't had much screen time so i cant tell about him .

overall the entire cast did their job well

Music
It had good OST..
cuz i know when a drama doesn't have good ost you wont get those feelings on those situations.but here the songs made me feel those situations though i don't understand Korean.

Re-watch Value
i never watch any drama again...so i'm not the person to talk about that.

Overall
IT WAS A REALLY CUTE DRAMA..IT IS WORTH TO WATCH!

,i love this drama!... Especially the actress who performed a great acting and has a sense of humor!...The character of the funny mermaid fits to the characters of the actress well..But Lee min Ho is a nut when it comes in kisseng scene...He looks like a maniquen, he is lacks of romance...I love Lee Jung SUK rather than Lee min Ho when it comes in kisseng scene....Lee Jung SUK is very hot guy who know tomplay well his role...

This movie has so much potential. The plot seems to be interesting and yes, they did stick to it but I think that there has to be another way that they could make the movie more appealing. I did enjoy watching it though because of the curiosity but really, this movie seems off. But the title itself was a great choice since it is really creepy and not that horror type of creepy but it was insane!

For the story, i'm going to give it an 8.5. I like the plot but the way they extend it was not great! I'm super resentful about it.

The actors did a great job executing their characters well especially Nishino-san (Kagawa Teruyuki). He makes his sinister character seems natural. They did really great and I couldnt ask for other actors to play their roles.

Music? There's nothing special about in fact, I havent even heard a music I think haha. It's all like a daily life basis which they wouldnt stress out the music.

And nope! I dont think I would watch it again. I wouldnt even dare to see Kagawa's character ever again. Such a psychopath.
