Good but annoying

The first season was really good, I'm not sure why I watched this one, honestly, I would've been fine with just season 1 because it ended very well. The whole series was just really annoying to me.

First of all, I disliked Ji Woo's character, he turned from a cold person with a soft heart to a cold person with a cold heart, we didn't get a full reason why he left Seo Joon, just that everything Seo Joon did annoyed him which was just an easy way out, instead of saying he was scared to be in a relationship or something that made sense.

It pained me to see Seo Joon trying too hard to get Ji Woo to like him again, he needed to move on because he didn't deserve Ji Woo and the way he treated him. Seo Joon even found out Woo's restaurant wasn't doing well so he did everything he could to get people to come to the restaurant and Jo Woo was still stand ofish.

The little girl was extremely annoying to me and they were she was calling Ji Woo "dad" She needed to stop, Also her "running away" and hiding in the cupboard just because her mother couldn't pick her up was unnecessary.

I wish they could've found someone else for Seo Joon, he was just too pure for Ji Woo

Good fantasy romance with electrifying chemistry between leads .

My review will be a comprise of what I liked the most and the least about My Demon:

✅️ As a fantasy enthusiast, I loved the fantasy aspect in this drama. A demon who really use his superpower even it is just for small things like switch on the lamp or help in housekeeping lol.

☑️ I enjoyed most part of the storyline especially in the first half. The first 10 episodes was interesting and addicting enough to me. But things got draggy from episode 11 - 13 I started to skip alot especially side character's story . At this point , I find myself didn't care at all about the secretaries love story & Jin Ga Young plot line. The main couple scenes also became too cheesy for me to digest haha. Thankfully things started to get better when the angst part came again in episode 14 till the end. Those last 3 episodes were a total tearjerker to me .

☑️ Average villain plot line .Nothing you have not seen before in a crime and family feud based drama.

✅️ The chemistry between Kim Yoo Jung -Song Kang was sooo lit! The eye contacts, skinships, how comfortable they acted around each other, all the jokes and teases ... Like they're really in love with each other. I'm not surprise if later we get a dating news of them haha.

✅️ Acting from all cast were good. I've first known Kim Yoo Jung as a child actor in Dong Yi . I liked her acting in that drama then I watched her in Moon Embracing the Sun , May Queen , Angry Mom & Love in the Moonlight. Watching her here made me think my girl has grown up , how fast time flies . Now she's eligible to get her own bedroom scene too lol. Anyway I enjoyed her acting all the same here. I could feel all her agony, sadness and her crying scenes made me cried with her too . Her young age & youthly visual to play a 28 years old Do Do Hee does not bother me much here because her great acting concealed if not all most of it. About Song Kang ,this was my second drama of him after Sweet Home. He didn't impressed me in that drama but I quite enjoyed his acting here. He did a good job in potraying a playful, cheeky and self-absorbed demon but very protective of a girl he likes. His great visual did help compensating what fell short from his acting lol.

✅️ Great OST. My favourites : True -YOARI and Say You Love Me - Sam Kim.

⭕️ My ratings for episode 1 -10 & 14-16 = 9/10 and episode 11 -13 =5/10.My final rating = 8.5/10.

I'll end my review with my favourite quote from the drama , " You humans love to blame fate for everything. But, fate is nothing more than a web woven by a myriad of choices of your making. " - Lady Beggar .

Hometown healing

Jan. 21, 2024

Welcome to Sam-dal ri is definitely that kdrama for healing. Not revenge.

For starters, I know a lot of other people have mentioned how they love how this show gets better as it goes on. And that is so true. I never really expected to love this drama if you asked me around the first few episodes. It is a slower pace slice of life show. It alleviates that fast-life city feeling, as it is set in a small town. You know, as a person who grew up in the city, I kind of feel jealous and I really do want to experience that slower pace type of living.

The plot of the show is amazing, it is pretty good in terms of the story telling and how it was delivered throughout the episodes. I did wish though that the so called "antagonists" got much harsher ending for all the things they have committed. I do know that this is not a revenge drama but regardless, it fell flat in that area.

The cast is amazing and I feel like this drama is very underrated or underrepresented in terms of all the kdramas that on the smae air-time as this one. So please give Welcome to Sam-dal ri the love and recognition it deserves!

An outstanding and invigorating series.

From start to finish, both characters encapsulated the essence, making me feel like I was truly in my homeland, spending quality time with my family. This show earnestly endeavors to depict the emotions inherent in every relationship—be it with parents, siblings, or friends. It highlights the idea that even when we hit rock bottom in our lives, there is always someone from our neighborhood or circle of friends standing behind us, ready to offer support. Ji Chang Wook and Shin Hye Sun delivered exceptional performances, showcasing incredible chemistry both as lovers and childhood friends. It's been a while since I've seen Ji Chang Wook make such a remarkable comeback, and he looked handsome in every scene. Finally, I love the whole friends' gang Power Rangers they were the best!!!!!

I Feel So Many Things

I know I'm technically about 5 years too late to watching this, but that doesn't matter. All that matters is that I finished, yeah? Now, this review will not be like some of the other reviews in this section. I LOVED this show, so I won't be agreeing with the rest of the peanut gallery in regards to this show. Like always, I did NOT feel the same way the majority of the K-Drama fandom felt about this show. Not at all, and I'm perfectly fine with that.

I do want to start off by acknowledging the elephant in the room here - usually I only find myself salivating and obsessing over the female leads in this story. However, Ha Ru (Rowoon) is absolutely positively divine. The show did such a great job at creating the buildup to revealing and introducing his character to the audience. The first time I saw him, my mouth dropped. I was absolutely shooketh. I was stunned by how absolutely beautiful this man is. I've never been blown away by any of the male leads in most K-Dramas and that's something I've had to deal with for quite some time and I was fine with it. The entire time I watched this - that was the only thing going through my mind. I was awestruck by his beauty. Don't get me wrong. The actress that plays Dan Oh is adorable too. They were both a very good-looking couple. However, I'm now in love with Rowoon so there's that. Now, onto the review.

While I will agree with some fans about the story not making sense, I don't care enough to stress about it. I'm one of those annoying fans who doesn't give a fuck about a shoddy plot, just as long as the characters are likable and I get my romance. Yes, I'm THAT fan. The plot could fall apart in 5 episodes and be held together by a single piece of thread for the remainder of the show and it won't matter if those characters are hitting all of the right beats and tugging on my heartstrings in the way that I enjoy. I do believe this story lasted far longer than it should, but that's always been a pet peeve of mine regarding most of these dramas. Most dramas don't need more than a certain number of episodes to tell the story. In that way, I do feel as if the writers dragged certain things out that they definitely shouldn't have, but what can you do? The pacing is the issue in that regard. Also, having two love triangles in the same show means that I am entitled to some sort of financial compensation for emotional damages. Down with love triangles! It's not 2008 anymore.

Now, The Writer. The hand wavy God-like figure writing the comic within the show. I did have an issue with this part because I honestly thought that Ha Ru was The Writer before they revealed that he wasn't. I feel that may have been far more interesting. Ha Ru is The Writer who somehow ended up in his own book. Ha Ru, The Writer, jumps through that weird black hole to get in and get out of that make-believe, fictional world. That's what I initially theorized but that's not what happened. I don't like the fact that we never found out who The Writer was either. I did like the subtle meta digs the characters would take at The Writer though. I found that kind of funny. I never saw Boys Over Flowers (?), so I don't understand that reference. Sorry!

Let's tackle my favorite aspect of this show now, shall we? The lead couple sunk their claws into me and they never let go. These two have my heart and will always have my heart honestly, because they were just that perfect. They had the right balance of angst and happiness. I did not care for the long, drawn-out love triangle though. I'm past the age where love triangles interest me so I would have preferred that Dan Oh and Ha Ru's relationship woes were purely about fighting their predestined fate instead of fighting with Baek Kyung (just wait for it because I have a LOT to say about him). I know some people had an issue with Ha Ru seemingly only existing for Dan Oh, and I don't see the issue. Most men need to learn how to stand there, shut up, and look pretty sometimes. It's a necessity, if you ask me. Plus, that's a favorite trope of mine - man only existing to serve, worship, and protect his female love interest. Again, what is the issue here? People kept saying that Dan Oh's journey was minimized to simply loving Ha Ru, but it makes sense. For all intents and purposes, Dan Oh is a teenage girl. What did people really think her priorities would lie? Have you ever actually talked to a teenager in high school? Their priorities are mostly about what they're feeling right now in that very moment. The attention span is short.

With all of that being said, let me drag Baek Kyung for a minute. I did NOT like him at all. By the end of the show, I still didn't care for him. I didn't pity him either. The only feeling I had by the end of the show was wondering whether he fixed what he screwed up because he thought it was the right thing or if he did it because his guilty conscience started to eat him up inside? That's where my mind went, because I didn't buy his so-called redemption arc. The writers (all the Baek Kyung lovers should blame them for sure) spent too much time on him being the antagonist and not enough time actually developing a believable redemption for me to buy it. I didn't buy it. Yes, he fixed it but it was AFTER he fucked it up. What he did was the bare minimum. He killed the girl he claimed to have true feelings for and suddenly realized that forcing someone to be with you when they don't want to be and removing their agency and free will is wrong. Finally! He realized this in the fourth fucking quarter! You realized this in the penultimate episode? Wow. We can blame The Writer for making him a jackass on the stage. But what's his excuse for him being an asshole in the shadow? What was the reason? He treated Dan Oh like crap the entire time, both on stage and in the shadow. But you expect me to believe he truly had feelings for her? He only started to feel something for her once he realized that she started to have a mind of her own. For the longest time, he kept trying to convince her (and Ha Ru) that her on-stage self was the real her when it wasn't. Baek Kyung never liked the real Dan Oh. He liked the girl who constantly chased him after he spit in her face (metaphorically speaking) and humiliated her in front of their peers every single day.

I didn't like the Dried Squid Fairy; I couldn't stand him. The boot licker in him agitated me. Why are you so adamant about following the rules and allowing things to happen to you without attempting to change them? It was clear The Writer lacked creativity, so who cares if you change things here and there? The Writer didn't have enough creativity and imagination to walk outside of their own front yard. Who cares? Burn it all down! Buck the system and stand up for something for once in your miserable life.

Now, I LOVED Lee Do Hwa! After the main two characters, he was my favorite. I enjoyed his character so much. I hate that he didn't get his happy ending but I knew it wouldn't be possible. Yoo Ja and Nam Joo were ... something. Yoo Ja became an interesting person to watch and I liked her. Nam Joo was there, I guess?

Okay, are you still here? Good! You get a cookie. Would I recommend it? Yes! Don't listen to the naysayers. If you want to watch it, watch it. Decide how you feel for yourself. I would definitely rewatch certain episodes again; I wouldn't rewatch the whole thing because there's just too many episodes but definitely some of my favorite episodes now and then.

This had so much potential but it tanked so fast. Especially since it's common to a lot of other shows that center around this kind of setting.
As the show went on, it got more annoying. They started off expecting us to already know the characters (and if you're anything like me, it can take a looooong time to remember who is who) so I actually ended this show not knowing who was who. I kid you not.

Close to the end they talk about things like we are supposed to know what it is only to reach the end and THEN they show what it was. So for a while I thought I had missed a chunk of the show cuz I didn't know WHAT rumor they kept talking about.

The show was all over the place that way. Throw in a random ghost and it's like even the writers weren't sure what to do with the setting. lol. I admit the ending was new. I don't think I've seen a ending like that. But it does lead to more questions cuz..... How do none of the parents know? None are freaking out?

I get it's a show but there's just to many plot holes and no character development either. It was scattered and pretty basic.

I had a lot of high hopes for this show but was quickly disappointed.

Experience

So my experience was the best i loved it from the actors to the writing to the way it was portrayed this was my experience and I think everyone forgets that it is a after a BL romance novel but they also forget that in other country’s romance between men is forbidden so that’s why it’s a little confusing to some of others but they should also look more into the show as they legit got married like 5-6 times. Also the bunny and donkey kisses the bunny represents lan wangji and the donkey is Wei ying. And the ending is like the most satisfying to as you can clearly tell lan wangji went back for Wei ying and it’s such a happy ending compared to like half the couples who didn’t get one, so I would say this was one of my favorites. And it’s like my 15 time watching it

The FL will be known by everyone soon!

Derailment has a very compelling premise and a pretty good twist so I was entertain and engaged throughout the whole series despite some lows for the show as a whole.
1) The actress playing the FL is INCREDIBLE. She will be well known soon and I will watch everything she is in moving forward. She is incredibly talented and a big part of why I stayed engaged with the story the whole time. I recommend watching just for her performance.
2) Speaking of acting I don't know if the actor playing the ML was the best choice. I've seen him in other romances and never had a problem with his performance but I don't think he pulled off the smooth and collected guy-in-charge part of the role. In the moments of warmth, kindness, and caring with our FL he did great and I think his previous experience translated to that part of the role.
3) The main sci-fi and mystery element got a little overshadowed by the FL's day to day in the later part of the show which I think displeased viewers who were mainly there for that. I however, like seeing these parts of the FL's character because it was the first time we get to see her happy with her life. However, it did feel like they rushed back to the main storyline for the last episode.
4) Romance is a part of the story but it's not a major component and there's not much lovey doveyness to the romance so if you want to watch it for the feels I'd pass.
Overall, I liked the show the whole time I watched it; I was never bored and don't regret watching it. Although, I doubt I'd watch it again. So if it seems interesting to you, I'd recommend trying it. It's definitely not a hard pass but it's not something I want everyone I know to watch.

A trama é boa e envolvente

A história me prendeu, adoro a atuação da Lee Ji Ah, mas o que houve com o final? Achei um pouco frustrante, ainda que tem outra temporada pra concertar... tenho altas espectativas para a próxima temporada.

An Uplifting & Fun Show

I am an American and a senior citizen. I regularly enjoy K_dramas and have been impressed by the quality of the productions and acting. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching "Welcome to Samdral-ri" and liked the story line, the characters and thought the acting was first class. Ji Chang Wook is always good, no matter the role, and gets great support from Kim Mi-Kung as Sam-dal's mother. If you are looking to watch something fun, entertaining and heart warming, "Welcome to Sandal-ri" will fill the bill!

Real, emotional and a must watch!

I LOVE IT

this was such a cute drama with just right amount of fluff, fun, angst and drama.

the acting is superb, from the main cast to supporting cast and the grandpa character just gave this drama a finishing touch and its perfect. i watched this on youtube and i saw the comments saying they felt 2nd embarrasement in watching it because of the female main lead which i dont get at all??? she's cute and i didnt felt that at all???? she played the character so well. now on the male male lead, i always know him as a good actor so i already know this is gonna be good and he didn't dissapoint! he suits these type of characters so much lol

i love the main couple so much, they just paired so well and i felt the chemistry even on the start. i didn't felt any cringe moment and i just enjoyed everything from start to finish. the kissing scenes are 10/10 lmaoosoaoao I LOVE IT. i repeated those scenes a couple of times before proceeding lol they dont need those heavy bed scenes to show their chemistry!! its like watching two people who dont know anything about love falling in love, ITS CUTE.

for the story and pace its just right. i love how every in misunderstanding they try to resolve it right away especially on the MML pov knowing how his character is. i just dont like how they ended it with her choosing him over her career? im just not a fan of those type of things where woman have to give up her growth for a man but in this one she's also thinking about the grandpa who have only a few months to live so i'll give it a pass i guess!

overall, i would def recommend and someghing i will rewatch it i feel like to.

An Unsavory Ending

Look as much as I love my boys interactions and whatnot that ending has me a bit sour in the mouth.

Like adding the scene of the friends ganging up on the sister without any resolution for her felt like such an annoyance, cause now I personally NEED to see her go through her own resolution of finding actual better friends and those two girl get their karma.

Plus the fact that we don't get a moment of the twins together with their partners in a group interaction kinda bugged me as well cause not even an apology or something to better clear the air.

And the whole "I like what we flhave now, you're my best friend but I could not see you as anything other than friends" by Jack made me wanna fight.

Sam really is my light and soul and the whole bright reason to be happy. Coulda got more TanSam scenes but I'm happy with it.

The national team picks with little to no cheering up or celebration for either of sides that did and did not get picked just felt more like at "well why did I have to see this"

FirstSprite scene on the court was cute and all but that moment of them laughing was too long and felt forced at that point.

Zee and his girl scene seemed a little outta place and could a been a good moment for FirstZee to happen to walk by and show up but they didn't and it was just welp.

The drugged out "I miss Koh" moment was also a little filler based feeling.

Lack of development for many characters has me feeling a little bugged by it.

Overall last episode could have been maintained differently to feel like a happy ending cause four pivotal moments made me feel it needs more.

It's perfect!

I loved every second! The story was the cute kind of cliche and the acting reminded me of watching anime. Super cute couple and side characters. Soft vibes at it's best! It's the healing kind of romance, that just makes you smile like there's no tomorrow. The couple had the cute kind of chemistry and it makes you want more after watching.

(PT/BR) Amei cada segundo! A história é o tipo fofo de clichê e a atuação me fez lembrar animes. Casal super fofo e os personagens secundários também. Definição de fofura! É o tipo de romance que cura a alma e te faz sorrir como se não houvesse amanhã. O casal teve uma química muito fofa e te faz querer mais depois de assistir.

Having a place to return to.

The ending lines of "Having a place to return to is an incredible feeling" resonates with me so much. Samdalri feels like a safe haven for not only our leads, especially Samdal. in more ways than one, it has become a place as such for me as well the last two months watching the drama

there's something incredibly healing about the show. the bonds and relationships, the companionship, the belonging to a community, your people your weather yiur place. there's nothing like home and there's nothing like having a place to return to, and people to support your dreams. yong pil goes further than just support samdal too there. but I loved how her comeback isn't just cause of him. she did cause she wanted to. love how yong pil was let her walk her way, but hung around to catch if and when she faltered. there's no pushing there, there's no imposing of his wishes her. letting her find herself was the best thing.

ep16 was everything.
My heart is so full. The bonds of family, friendship and community in this drama are just so precious. watching the last ep I felt like I was part of it all. ❤️

~As always, we're going for only as long as our breath allows without being greedy. And whenever we're out of breath, we'll come back to that place. Our small stream, Samdal-ri.

The OST is incredible. I'm so glad I discovered Cho Yong Pil through this. Short Hair has become an all time favourite song. The remastered versions are incredible. so is the Haenyeo song sung in Ep9. It's so hauntingly beautiful hasn't stopped ringing in my ears since I heard it.

though it had it's flaws early and meandering plotlines and maybe unnecessary air time given to certain plot lines which could have been better used somewhere else, the ending just makes up for it. that's one of the most beautiful, most satisfying heartfelt ending of a drama I have seen. my rating jumped from 8.5/9 to 9.5 and even a 10 just cuz of that episode. it's incredible.

and JCW standing in the snow smiling like that with that song in the background and there reunion? please. gorgeous. the power rangers are the best friend group ever and they deserved their second chances. second chances are indeed the underlying theme of the drama anyway.

a place to return to, and a second chance at making it right.

the acting is incredible. the casting is superb, no moment of over the top reactions, very subtle, very real very raw. the Haenyeo group reminds of the ladies in my town❤️ they are all precious.
