I see that this doesn't have a review yet so here is one. I'll try not to make it long but I can't promise anything, so please bear with me or not whatevers I don't care... okay here I go!
Story- The plot is like any other historic drama; there is betrayal, political intrigue & war. But I guess this has a small twist, it is center around Gye Baek. On how read moreall the secrets & lies of the royal court change Gye Baek's life; separating him from his love and turning him into a great general.
Acting/Cast- As for the cast they all did very well. I like all the actors however I'm very impress with the kid actors. Two adult actors stood out to me, one being Song Ji Hyo. I felt that she really became her character. The other person is Hyomin, even though she didn't appear often; the times she did she impress me especially in her big scene.
Music- The soundtrack was nice and went along great with the scenes. I especially believe that the song "Do you Know" by Yang Pa, fits perfectly with one of the main themes of the drama.
Rewatch Value- is 7 because I don't rewatch things often but this one I would, since I really enjoyed it.
Overall if you want to see how a royal court's lies & betrayals changes a person's life & destroys a kingdom or if you just want to see a good drama, check out Gye Baek!
I will start talking about the story. The drama is set during The Three Kingdoms Period. It tells the story of General Gye Baek of Baekje, which is a very well-known hero of Korea.
The story is very interesting, never boring, and the actors did a great job, but I couldn't help but hating some of the main characters. I didn't find a love story read morewhich was interesting enough to catch my attention. Perhaps that's the main reason I can't give this series a global mark of 10 points.
The music is quite nice also. When I was watching the drama I didn't notice it very much, but after finishing it and listening to some of the songs included in the soundtrack, I was surprised with some nice songs.
I think it has a high rewatch value also. The main problem is that it is quite long, so I wouldn't watch it again right now, but probably in future I would feel like watching it once more.
I like this drama but just don't like all the deceit in the family and how they are all so hungry for power. I know it's a drama but it seems all Asian dramas no matter where they are set end up the same . Korean history to me is mind boggling the killing of brothers , mothers everyone that gets in they way of their power. I have now read a lot of Korean history and it seems that the dramas that claim to be true historical sites are true to form. I know all history has its evil stuff so no judgment just saying.
I haven't seen this yet, but I'm thinking about it. I've watched several historical dramas and movies in a row. Sadly, if you watch Historical dramas from any country, from any time period, there will be deceit, hunger for power, and filled with greed. I don't like it either, but that's what the world has been filled with since the Beginning...
You are right I have watched a lot of Kdramas and Cdramas , not much else but they killing of family for power I have not seen as much in other history as Korean and Chinese drama. But I am not that informed on history aspect of other countries. The way of the world is what it is you are right.
It´s a great Drama :)
Actually there was a moment I was bored while the queen and her followers were struggeling for their power. But now that Gye Baekwas send away to the border of Silla, only because of that "frightened" King and the Crown-Prince...it turned out realy nicely.
I have begun to like this Drama a lot. And I am beginning to get usedto the cool and composed attitude of Gye BAek in htis Drama.
I can just hope he and his brother will reunite soon, and not struggle for many episodes again until they realize the truth (:
i have to say the beginning was amazing i was in love with the show i expected so much from this drama but i was shocked to see some great actors flopping i mean the acting was horrible compared to the child actors.
