Love the drama. Because of this drama I became a fan of wolfs. The actors were all awesome. Love the plot. The only thing that was missing so that could be perfect was between Bai Zheng Qing and Jiang Xin there was a little lack of chemistry when it came to kissing and everything...
Otherwise they were all fit for there roles. The thing I especially love about this drama is the read more loyalty and brotherhood between Bai Zheng Qing and his surroundings.
The drama is worth watching don't miss out for those who love romance, history, mafia, some comedy, unexpected and expected type of drama.

My expectations were not high when I started the drama. It was raised when I saw Hawick Lau's character as Bai Lang. Suave and smooth. I fell in love with the character. Tiffany Tan was described as brave, courageous, and kind--very naive. She was brave when she acted against Bai Lang and charged into enemy territory. Though it was stupid, it did suit her character. But that character disappeared half way through read more the show. She became another stereotypical damsel in dramas. Where did her courage and bravery go? Did she drop it? Well, she didn't bother to go find it cause the drama lost spark half way through the drama. The only thing that kept me going was Bai Lang. Suave.

The second leads were bearable. I didn't like the thief, Xiao Han's character at first. Her character was only an annoyance and didn't really spice the drama. After going through more than a third of the episodes, her character was better. Her acting was explosive as an antagonist. Though, not to reveal many spoilers, her character description based on previous actions didn't really suit her later actions. Like the damsel, she dropped her character and forgot to pick it up.

The second male lead annoyed me the most. I may be biased towards Bai Lang because he was so hot but the second male lead only served as an annoyance. I didn't feel anything for him.

Overall, the script went stale after 20 episodes. The beginning kept me interested because Bai Lang and Jiang Xin's chemistry was too cute for my heart. But after that, it went stale and boring.

The setting is a similar time period. There is a war turmoil and yet two people meet and fall in love.
Both stories have male leads that are from a militaristic type background and the leader of a large group that controls lots of territory. The lady is engaged to another man but another man comes into her life.

Both dramas are during the post modern Shanghai era. They both involve strong powerful men. The romance in both dramas are similar as in the men is dedicated to their leading lady despite all odds.

Actually dropped it around the 20th episode. Probably because I've just seen Cruel Romance before, but the plot is quite weak despite being super similar to CR, and none of the actors really convinced me...

I cant help to compare this drama to Cruel Romance I think (for me, for my own opinion) Cruel Romance is much better than this even though I don't like the character of the main lead actress.

I barely finished it cause i hated the main female character. She's absolutely a one dimensional, over righteous little angel sort of protagonist that I actually have to say I despise seeing in dramas. There's a problem when the antagonist has more character development and character depth in her pinky than the protagonist had in the whole drama. I still have to say I really liked the drama because i cared about and had attactchmgents to the other characters and the plot, although not very original had good things in it and the drama had many well executed moments. I do have to say that the last couple episodes and the ending is a complete mess though. They very obviously rushed it.

It took me a long time to finish this drama because I was waiting for the last 10 episodes to be completely subbed in English. This unfortunately didn't happen so I watched them with subs only at 70/80% which practically spoilt the most important part of the story as many important chunks of conversations were missing.
In any case I enjoyed the plot on the whole which was lively and interesting although not very realistic in many parts. What I appreciated most were the settings, the costumes and the good acting of the leads.

i was gonna comment on how similar the plot seems to be to the Thai drama Pan Ruk Pan Rai, only to find out that they were based off the same manga. I really do hope that the mother daughter duo wont be as annoyingly naive as they were in the Thai drama because it just drove me crazy

This drama is so good! Just finished it. I am so addicted to these types of romance historical chinese dramas, but almost all the ones I watch are either raw (no subs) half the drama or they have crappy subs with so many missing parts.

Lol I need to learn Chinese for this!

Oooo.... I started this and, well, it got old real fast. I really do hate to say this but Hawick Lau & Tiffany Tang had 0 chemistry imo. Hawick did his best to look cool and bad and sweet all wrapped into one, but it didn't overcome the lack of connection from his leading lady. I don't know if it's her character or her in particular, but I just wasn't buying their loveline much at all.

Why are Chinese dramas so long?

    • Reply
      werwiewowas95 May 12, 2016

because they are mainly daily dramas unlike in taiwan, japan, korea where you many many dramas at the same time and only 2 episodes per week. Imagine a drama ending after 2 and a half week :P
