I've had my first exposure to Asian dramas from my native country before I migrated to Australia; where sadly no Asian dramas are being aired. I don't think this situation is going to change in the near future despite the Asian wave conquering most shores nowadays. So my only recourse is to feed my addiction online.
I can't say how many years its been now but roughly a decade from whence I started watching dubbed versions as they were aired in my country. Now its been almost 5 years that I've become a constant visitor on different streaming sites.
In terms of stats and percentage, I've watched more Korean dramas and films, yet I've realized that the ones I've rated most highly are Japanese ones. While the ones I've dropped the most or stopped watching are Taiwan dramas, their films are nonetheless pleasant to watch, probably because it's a shorter experience. I also don't have much trouble getting through to long historical Chinese dramas both of the wuxia and fantasy genre.
I switch from these countries offerings and into different genres to break the monotony. But I could easily find myself immersed in one type of genre for months without break.
Something else to break the monotony, I've also discovered Anime online. I realized that while I've been watching anime during my childhood to teens, they've been going on for ages. Anime also led me to Manga online. But in this I am truthfully not a big fan. It's simply a difficult media to get into. For one, I'm a fast reader but it's not easy reading manga online, even if I download the materials, they are not usually in a reading format that you can easily navigate, plus most of them are still ongoing series that takes forever to be available online. Speaking of that, since I'm as avaricious in reading as I am in watching dramas, I have also kept a reading list similar of what's here in MDL (See further down for sample of my recently read books)
MDL is just the perfect tool and social hub to keep track of dramas, reviews, or recommendations and essentially useful in helping out fellow drama addicts ^,^
Yay! More power to MDL!
:::SOME REMINDERS TO SELF:::
If you want your dreams to come true, you mustn't oversleep...
Sleep... Oh! how I loathe those little slices of death...
One thing you can't recycle is wasted time...
Doubtless criticism was originally benignant, pointing out the beauties of a work rather than its defects. The passions of men have made it malignant, as a bad heart of Procreates turned the bed, the symbol of repose, into an instrument of torture...
