Expect the Feeling of 'Meh'

At first, I only watched it because of IU, but watching the movie as a whole was worth it. Now I know why it's called Shades of the Heart

I recommend watching it if you watch Slice of Life kind of film or drama.

Your feelings will just be 'Meh', if you know what I'm saying, It can be boring for a lot of people, you may also get the similar feeling to a drama 'My Mister', when Ji-An (IU) is listening to Dong-hoon just walking his way from his work all the way to a friend's bar through the wiretapped phone but the feeling of getting to know different people's stories and their perspectives can be quite nice, whether a person is thinking that everything is moving quite fast or a person realized that he/she actually received a bad news sugarcoated in a good news

I can see the artistic intent, but it was too uncomfy for me

I went in relatively blind. All I knew was that it was a dance arthouse film with no dialogue, and relatively sapphic undertones at times.

My very first thought coming in was that the sound was very much ASMR-quality. Personally, the only sounds I liked was the pen scratching the paper and the sounds related to the water. Everything else was quite uncomfy. Even the background music that would show up from time to time put me on edge - and I didn't get the impression that it was supposed to. Visually it was rather off-putting too. I was prepared for it to go a body horror route at any minute, but it always stopped short of it.

Without reading the description, I was wondering if these 4 women in white that the house's resident can't see were actually an embodiment of her random impulsive thoughts as she went about her daily tedium and musician's block. They gave off a very "last brain cell" vibe. I did wind up reading the description a few minutes in and was able to shift my view on them pretty quickly. They're spirits. Spirits that are caught up in all the childlike wonder of their senses. Sounds. Smells. Sights. Textures. They got excited over each new discovery, getting swept away by their implications. Sometimes dangerously (and creepily) so.

I liked the overall story, but was left with questions (that the director's interview mostly cleared up). And I didn't like some of the choices made in the story's portrayal - even once i got past the sounds. Nonetheless, the spirits' smiles were semi-contagious and the contemporary dance sequences were pleasing to watch.

At least the musicians' house is temporarily cleaned of its build up of regular human detritus?

I was watching this on a delta airplane flight and let me tell you, TEARS... So many feels and emotions depicted in a movie unlike anything I've ever seen before. This definitely will be a favorite of mine for life, and although many are saying that Naho's character was boring and the actress did not do a good job, I disagree. I was so immersed in that movie (despite the occasional pauses due to the announcements on the airplane). I literally gave zero cares in the world about the people walking by that saw me bawling my eyes out. It was worth it.

This movie as well as the manga (and probably the anime too) has changed my life forever. It's showed me the value that I have as a person and that if I were to give up and lose faith in everything, it will destroy my family, friends, and more.

I highly recommend this movie. It's a great one!

I didn't really have very high expectations for this as I realise it's quite difficult to make a live action of this kind of series but I was not disappointed. Bear in mind that this is a completely different story from the manga and anime, yes the main theme is the same and they have some of the characters but the way the story goes is different. I went with a friend and she did not enjoy it just because she could not stop comparing it to the manga/anime. So if you can get past that, you should like it.

First of all, the acting was okay-ish. I like Miura Haruma but this role was not for him. A lot of his expressions felt really forced and awkward. I feel like some actors would have been a better fit. Kanata Hongo was brilliant, in my opinion. He suited Armin's role and even though his character was not used to his full potential in this part, I think he did a great job. The actress who played Mikasa seemed to fit the role and she did okay but for some reason I could not force myself to like her, something about the actress was kinda irritating.

There is barely any character development and basically no background information is provided, which was a shame. They also turned Mikasa into someone she's not. She's weak and dependant on Eren in the beginning but turns into a cold person who would even abandon her friends later on, she's badass but it feels wrong for some reason. I did not like that at all since that's not what she's supposed to be like but then again, it's a different story.

It's difficult to rate the story because it's only part one and as I said before it's completely different. Some of the scenes seemed unnecessary but overall the story is interesting. The intro scene was painful to watch though, it was too melodramatic and the acting was kinda bad.

What made this film good for me was the titans. They were incredibly creepy, I got the chills when the first one appeared. The graphics were done very well and the titans looked very real. It's also quite gory but if you have seen the anime or read the manga it should not come as a surprise.

The music was also good, I especially loved the ending song by Sekai no Owari, it suited the ending.

Overall, it's very Japanese if that makes sense. Some scenes are very weird, kinda artistic, the kind you would see in an independent film but it's quite common in Japanese cinema. it's a good film but not everyone is going to like it. Just see it with an open mind and don't compare too much.

the story is quite not pleasing into the eyes if your going to watch it. but its based on the reality life so you need to deal with it. the actor /actresses act well very convincing. the music is good. As for me I won't watched this ever again. I can't move while watching this kind of movie. I can't believe it really exist even I've experience this kind of physical abuse. I just seat on my bed while watching this I just giggling with anger. Why do they need to do those things are they human or demon opps sorry for the word. I just spill out my feelings towards the movie. I really cried out of this movie. Thanks to the producer who made this it gave an open eyes to all who are parents are being abusive with their children.

When I read the synopsis for the movie I thought it'd be a typical romantic comedy through and through but most of the movie turned out to be a serious and mellow take on how relationships shape you up.

The story wasn't a novel idea but it was well executed. I loved some of the little bits and pieces of the movie. The characters were realistic and believable. What surprised me the most was the end of the movie. I had thought would be the message in the end was completely different than what was actually delivered and I wasn't upset at all. Being someone who knows what Jini went through, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I agreed with the end.

The actors did a splendid job making me believe in their performances and relate to the characters are real people and not just figments of imagination.

I'm really bad at noticing music in a movie unless something stands out especially so forgive me for not being able to really comment in this department.

Despite how much I liked the movie, if I was given a choice to rewatch it, I'd be in two minds. On one hand it gave a realistic view about relationships that was refreshing. On the other hand, I watch rom-coms to escape reality and feel good so I'm not sure if I'd watch it with that mind set.

It's a good movie, something you can pick over at the weekend and watch. Don't watch it with the delusion of being a friends-gathering sort of movie though.

Doushitemo Furetakunai is a great manga by my favorite BL author, Yoneda Kou. This movie faithfully reproduces the most serious parts of the manga. The dialogue comes straight from the manga, and the framing of shots is a very close copy of the visuals in the manga. Unfortunately, by copying the original, the director turns a visually beautiful manga into a static and dull film. Perhaps someone who hasn't read the manga as many times as I have will enjoy the artistic framing and angles. But I couldn't help wishing that the cinematography would be more dynamic, to capture just how dynamic the original manga artwork is. Film is a different medium than manga, and it needs different techniques.

A second disappointment for me was that the humor of the original work is completely missing from this adaptation. The original balances its angst with a wry, subtle sense of humor (which runs throughout even Yoneda Kou's most brutal works). The humor was, however, omitted here.

This is an example of how an adaptation can lose the spirit of the original by being overly faithful to the details. Some fans will like this faithfulness, but I found myself wishing I'd spent these 90 minutes rereading the book.

You may be wondering how this low overall score has happend!? Because this movie is totally crazy! I watched it with a few friend a while ago and we are joking about it till now...
The story is not so bad but nothing special. But the way the movie is created is really uhm perverted? crazy? Totally exagerated? sunken in blood? - Yes!!

The Acting is outstanding because I cannot really imagine how actresses/actors can play such crazy roles without permanently laughing!!
You can not take anything in this movie seriously. I think of this move more as a comedy or a parody of the gore genre.

If you are into totally perverted stories and want to laugh about thousands of litres of theatrical blood and a totally unrealistic of filming, you will like it. Otherwise I think you will be psycological hurt by this "movie"! ;)

I came into this movie expecting a lot since a lot of people had recommended it to me. As a result, I was somewhat disappointed.

Story: 7/10 The story was slow in the beginning since it started based on her just wanting her ex boyfriend back, which was rather pathetic. Gradually throughout the movie that changes.

Acting/Casting: 7/10 The acting was great but the characters themselves didn't really make me want to emotionally connect with them.

Music: 7/10 It did it's job but not much else.

Rewatch Value: 4/10 I don't like rewatching movies, and this one wasn't even that great (imo) so it's something i wouldn't rewatch.

Overall: 7/10 This movie is ok for a boring sunday. It's not something very memorable in my opinion.

Going to preface this review by letting you know that the sexual abuse in this movie is pretty graphic. And somewhat frequent. If that's something you can't handle, I would suggest not watching this movie.

Story: The story, sadly true, is about deaf and mute children who suffer constant sexual abuse from the people paid to protect them.

The movie is a lot more graphic than I would have originally imagined it being, and in the end, that's what makes this movie so amazing. It seems so incredibly real the whole time you're watching it that it just breaks your heart. Every scream, every tear, and every bit of abuse you witness on screen just tears you up inside.

I really enjoy the pace of the movie. We get some time to see the main characters, build a connection with them, and see how affected they are by the abuse, and this movie leaves a huge impact on you because of that.

Acting/Cast: Gong Yoo has been my favorite actor from the second I started watching Korean dramas/movies. Given the storyline and his ability to always grab me with his acting, I knew I wouldn't regret my choice to watch this movie. I was definitely not disappointed by this man. His ability to just jump into any role and play it perfectly is fantastic.

Baek Seung Hwan, Kim Hyun Soo, and Jung In Seo all deserve praise for their acting in this movie. They all managed to portray abused children so perfectly that you believe every single second of it. When they cry, you cry; when you have to sit there and watch them get sexually molested, you cry.
If you're anything like me though, even though each of their stories breaks your heart, Baek Seung Hwan's acting/character will just kill you.

Jang Gwang also did a fantastic job in his role. Not only did he have to play twins; he had to play twins that both sexually molested students.

Music: I only remember two songs from this movie, and that's only because they play a pretty vital role. Normally I would score low for that, but the lack of music playing in the movie really helped. Instead of distracting you with music, it lets you focus on everything that's happening.

Rewatch Value: So far, I've watched this twice. I'm sure I'll watch it many more times in the future.

Overall: Overall, this movie is sheer perfection. It's brilliantly told, the acting is spectacular, and it manages to just make you sit there and think long after you've finished it.

A first

So this was my first Japanese BL movie, and although I didn't go into it with high expectations, it was an okay movie.

There is RAPE – very GRAPHIC. This is not a spoiler, this is a warning. If you cannot stomach that, then don't watch it.

This is a horribly conceptualized story about obsessive love, control, rape, cognitive dissonance, and abuse. We have an individual who will leave everything in his world behind, everything he has owned and search to the ends of the Earth to find this fig mental "thing" he has deemed his love. Then he will take what he "loves" and FORCE it to "love" him back. DEMAND it. The absurdity of it all is that everyone around the victim seems to believe the victim was blessed to be loved in such a way. The victim sees the absurdity of the situation but then falls prey to this thinking and believes the lie of those around him.

Since this was my first Japanese manga, I didn't get the whole story line. the start the over-acting was hilarious - yeah bad acting - but it was funny and wasn't taking this seriously, as also found some of the character's likeable - not Natsuko (who just went from bad character to worse!) but other character's in that orchestra where quirky and fun to watch.

Defiantly not a good start to the JP Drama!!!

Recommendations are welcomed for any good Japanese BL Dramas!!!

It was fun and enjoyable but nothing special. I didn't find any chemistry between the male leads and the heroine. I have nothing against the actress, she's cute and can act cute but she's too short for the main lead. Sparks aren't there for them. They're more of a sibling than lovers. The actress is cute but doesn't really have that natural "aegyo" in her. Also, at point, I thought Yokohama Ryusei's character is more solid than Yosuke's. Ryusei being a second-lead almost stolen the spotlight away from male lead Sugion Yosuke. I think it has more to do with the acting. I may like Yosuke more but I have to admit that Ryusei has more presence and is better in acting here in the movie compared to Yosuke.

Despite those issues I have with the movie execution, the show has its moments. Cinematography is good and having two ikemen guys fighting over a girl is always a pleasure to watch.

Firstly, be warned that some scenes are *extremely* disturbing and this movie is for mature audience that can handle very sensitive issues. The movie is also based on a true story.
That being said, the story is a very painful face slap of injustice and a sad reality. It's a great movie for it does exactly what its meant to do and you feel exactly what your meant to feel. It's really sickening to see how inhuman people can be. The characters are very authentic and the actors delivered well.
Though it's a good movie worth the watch, I don't know how many people would enjoy the re-watch.

My Tutor Friend 2 is different than the one that came before it. This one is more realistic but still hilarious. I actually liked the story better in this one and the ending was cute. My only problem is the romance was better in the first one. In this there was not really a confession/hug/kiss anything to connect them romantically. Somehow though he just ends up following her all the way to Japan? I dont know but the romance could have been written better.

I loved the leads together and they had such a good chemistry. I wished the writers used that to thier advantage. The supporting cast in this was okay but not as memorable as the one in the first.

Overall this is a good movie that can be watched again but in a few years.

This movie was interesting for a historical drama depicting the writer's take on how the Korean alphabet came into existence. It was not particularly engrossing or exciting, but it was interesting to watch things unfold in a theatrical presentation. And culturally and linguistically speaking, watching the development of the Korean language was very interesting.

I would not recommend this movie to the average viewer. If you do not have an interest in culture, language, and/or history, you will likely find this movie boring and dry. But if you do have an interest in at least one of those things, you will walk away feeling inspired, even if creative liberties have been made.
