In Hong Kong in the 1920s, General Xi ze called "Shadow's King" captures the traitors with an order, and he meets Lu Xiao Kui because of 5 Yen (Chinese currency) then they become friends. Xi ze is always proud, arrogant and rebellious. His father wants to find an elite student from the Military Academy and "tame" him, The person he brings is Lu Xiao Kui. I didn’t usually watch movies, unless they are some sort of special after the drama (like HanaDan for example), but this was one of the first movies I watched because I liked the summary. It was not the actors, just the summary. And I did not regret it.

Except for Aibu Saki, I had no ideia of how was the other actors’ acting but they left quite a good impression. Ok, not the best. I sometimes found Daisuke Maki’s face way to expressionless, like he was not feeling it at all. Aibu was also not at her best, unfortunately. But the story itself was really good. It did not have that slow development I recently watched in some Japanese love movies and the whole idea of the story was really cute. The way Tanaka Takeshi felt for the girl and watched over her trough that many years is really something that melts your heart, even more when you see that nothing (really nothing) can stop him from trying to protect her and caring for her.

A love story that can bring you to tears without having to make you wait in unnecessary moments.

This movie does almost all of the right things for an Asian romantic comedy. The leads have great chemistry, the story is grounded and fun, some of the humor is surprisingly dark and hilarious (which I know isn't common for rom-coms, but it most definitely works here). If not for a misstep towards the end, this movie very well could have propelled itself out of the rom-com genre entirely into something deeper and more substantive. It does make a misstep, however, in the last fourth of the movie, where the writers decide to pivot the story into a more dramatic (and quite tonally different) direction. Of course, this is not unusual for Asian films or dramas. It's the genre's bread and butter. But I found myself missing the movie's earlier humor and lightheartedness, and even a happy ending didn't totally put out that disappointment. Still, despite this misstep, everything else about this film is superb.

And the best thing? How realistically compatible the leads are with each other. They both love inappropriate jokes, are unafraid of expressing their feelings and opinions, enjoy trying new things, and are willing to trust each other enough to spend two to three days touring a foreign country together.

I love stories that make me believe their characters are suited for each other, and this story most definitely does.

Had to Force Myself to Finish it

So the male main character quite literally bullies the female lead. It's so bad that she refers to herself as "trash" and "pathetic". And the fact that she thought it was okay because "guys who are mean only want what's best for you, and nice guys are the bad ones" reinforces abuse culture and is the reason why so many women cannot tell signs of abuse.

What made that really disturbing is that she was taught that by her father and the male lead reinforces it. Not to mention the fact that the friends recognized that the male lead was problematic, yet they encouraged the relationship regardless.

Deep down I knew it wasn't going to happen, but I was hoping that the second "male interest" would help her confidence and self worth and would realize what the male lead was doing was wrong. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

All of that aside, the movie was a cliché. The story line wasn't realistic and got confusing at times. There was legitimately little to no point in the "love triangle" part of the movie, I'm convinced the producers were just running out of ideas. The acting was very forced at some parts, but overall, very mediocre. I have seen some of these actors in other films and the acting was 10x better.

All in all, I give this movie a 3/10, would not recommend.

Well, I have a different perspective in this movie. I already guessed who the killer was during the film only because I am a sucker for Suspense and thrillers. As a person who is really keen on solving the conflict of the story, I liked it.

I'm the type of person who would just stop on the middle of a film if it doesn't suit my taste but amazingly as much as I knew she wasn't the killer, I was really interested on how the killer did it. Well that's a shocker. I love how the story showed the different side of each character and how the sequence has been made. It makes you want to know more about what really happened.

I was impress with the music and acting. The actors have done their job well and so was the cinematography. Over-all I'd say its a good film and you should definitely watch it.

I don't usually write reviews. I just read some of the people's reviews. But after watching this on the second time I personally made one just to express my feeling toward this movie.

The movie was PERFECT. (Considering that I already watched almost all BL of different countries) this was a new taste. The plot was lit. Soundtrack was also good. After watching this you would come to realize that actions really speaks louder than words. You can tell based on thier movements that they really love each other but they are scared enough to express it to avoid being judged by people. The kind of story kinda looks like Brokeback mountain wherein they don't vocally express each other's feelings, you can see thier love through caring on each other which is a way better kind of love.

P.S : I've seen a lot of tragic/sad ending and this one is not even a sad one but I literally cried for like 3 hours straight after rewatching this movie and realizing many things.

What happens After SUNDOWN!

Based on the runtime, the experience was enjoyable. However, it would have been better if the movie had a longer runtime, around 170 to 180 minutes. This would allow for a more substantial background story and character development. Additionally, I wished there were more horror elements.

The relationship between the couple, Phloeng and Rawi, was portrayed well, but I was also interested in the development of the relationship between Phutson and Kraiphop. 😁

Another aspect that I want to know about is the backstory of Kannika. If Pharit wasn't the father of Kannika's child, I'm curious to know where the child came from.

Yes! I like more drama and horror 🫣

There are several other aspects of the plot that piqued my curiosity.

P.S. - My review is just based on the movie. I haven't read the novel.

Quick fun rom-com watch

I must say, the kdrama industry has moved so much ahead of the stereotypical plot lines and strict censorship rules. We’re getting something more out of it these days.

I was really anticipating this film. The acting was top notch, characters were likeable and overall it was one quick, fun, slightly kinky;) watch.
The dom-sub relationship parts were cute and nothing too awkward or in your face. It was a good way of representing kinks in sex and regular life.

So overall, If you are looking for a nice romance movie to watch on the weekend, this is a huge recommendation.

A Beautiful Romance with a Historical Backdrop

If we did a crossover between “I Feel You Linger in the Air” and “To Sir With Love”, the end result would be “After Sundown”.

Adapted from the novel “Dap Saeng Rawi” (ดับแสงรวี) by CEO, the movie is a rustic romance with a slight supernatural edge. The first thing I noticed about this movie is that, even though it was promoted as a horror thriller; the story is anything but that. The film is a delicately crafted romance between the main leads, Zee Pruk (Phraphloeng) and NuNew Chawarin (Rawi). The movie is full of cliche tropes- social divide, arranged marriage and revenge. This might make it sound old-fashioned, but that’s the charm of this movie which keeps you enthralled from the get-go. I wasn’t much invested in the horror aspect and only watched this because Zee & NuNew are a force to be reckoned with. And they do not disappoint, although their scenes here are a little less passionate (as compared to their romantic scenes in “Cutie Pie The Series), their chemistry shines through. Let me walk you through the best moments in this movie!

I love it!! I was just watching it because of boredom but this movie even though it takes almost two hours, didn't bore me at all. I enjoyed each minute of it..

Story was good. I haven't seen such a funny romantic comedy with supernatural abilities in a while.. I didn't find it insufficient, I think it was like how it had to be. Acting was pretty good, I think... Music~ I love him singing and his songs~

So in short, it was worth to watch.. I'm happy to watch it and believe me I watched 5 movies today and it was the only one which didn't bore me or made me wanna skip scenes!! Watch it~~
