My Girlfriend is A Gumiho (2010) - this drama is just the right amount of rom-com and fantasy. This drama is funny and great but heartbreaking as well. Of course I am definitely smitten with the second male lead (as usual). This drama is hilarious and good. I could probably watch this drama again (*if I have a copy) because it has that rewatch value in it. It’s my first Shin Min-a drama, whenever I encounter her in other dramas, her gumiho role has become her legacy/trademark role. Lee Seung Gi is also good especially when it comes to comedy.

Graceful Friends (2020) - I bow down to the main cast. Their acting is on another level, the younger cast should be ashamed. Can anybody explain the ending? HAHAHAHA. I was so confused with the ending. Who was the killer? Since I'm so imaginative, I already suspected Choon Bok. Well, anyway the story revolves around the theme of friendship, maybe this just it. In fairness, I was not that stressed compared with The World of the Married, but still amazing, JTBC knows who to choose for the cast. I truly like the side stories outside the crime part, I did really like those. Touching.

Hands down, the BEST season of Arthdal Chronicles!!

This is the second drama that got a 10/10 from me for the year 2023 so far. (The first one being Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938)

This season is totally different from the other three seasons, from different actors to, a much more developed background setting, directing etc. The storyline is also more powerful and engaging and keeps you on your toes until the end. This season starts 10 years after the end of 3rd season and talks about how Eun Seom, Saya and Tanya, the sword, the mirror and the bell worked together to capture Arthdal from the tyrannical Tagon.

And if you are worried about the change of actors in this season, trust me Lee Joon Gi and Shin Sae Kyeong, playing the roles of Eun Seom/Saya and Tanya were AMAZING!! They were the perfect Eun Seom/Saya and Tanya that Arthdal could ever get!!

For kdrama lovers who haven't watched the previous season, it would be very difficult to directly watch this season because everything that happens in this season is one way or the other connected to previous seasons. So I would recommend watching the previous seasons before watching this. Although the only drawback would be, in my opinion, the previous 3 seasons of Arthdal Chronicles were relatively boring and frustrating.

The OST was perfect.

BEST DRAMA EVER MADE!

Hand’s down, my absolute favorite drama of all time! The acting, the music, the storyline…all of it was absolutely perfect! The fact that the actors got married in real life was icing on the cake. They had me all the way in! I laughed. I cried…a lot. My heart raced. There’s nothing bad that I can say about it. Each episode was like it’s own movie and I never wanted it to end. The plot was so rich and well defined. I literally felt like I was in the story. This was one of the best dramas for me!

Sizzling Chemistry, Amazing Kisses, Beautiful Cinematography

Subjective Gut Rating - 8.75

Netflix dropped all 9 episodes of “Doona!” and it became a Doona weekend for many, including myself. Maybe because I am in the mood for a melo-healing drama after so many comedies, I really enjoyed this. The initial setup and plot aren’t that unique, but the chemistry makes it worthwhile. Though this is not a perfect drama, it gives me the feels and touches me.

The chemistry between Suzy and Yang Se Jong is sizzling. I LOVE their kisses ? and yes, I said it out loud). It’s been a while since I last saw a couple (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Thai) who gave so much emotion into these kiss scenes. We have two actors who are not shy and really participate and give me all the feels. I am not just talking about sexy/sexual kisses, but the sense of uncertainty, the should-I-shouldn’t-I type of emotions, and the love they feel for each other. Aside from the kisses, their scenes together are lovely. I really enjoy how their relationship started from strangers, who don't care for each other, to loving each other so much that they beg for the other’s affection and attention.

It takes a man like Lee Won Joon, gentle, adorable and forgiving, to deal with a selfish, emotional and broken diva like Lee Doo Na. The two of them are an odd pair in a way, yet they complement each other so well. Both are flawed (even the adorable Won Joon) and make flawed decisions. But since this is not a romantic comedy, their questionable decisions make this drama even more intriguing.

The acting is pretty good all-around. It probably wasn’t too difficult for Suzy to play a pop idol. But her emotional scenes are done well. Yang Se Jong reminded me of his character in “Thirty But Seventeen” but in this drama, there are more heartbreaking moments. I mentioned earlier about the kisses and there are a few shots where Yang Se Jong/Won Joon behaved shyly and passionately which totally made me fall for his character. I also enjoyed Ha Young’s portrayal of Kim Jin Joo. Under other circumstances, I would root for her happiness with the male lead. I felt for her and wanted her to find someone special.

The cinematography is beautiful and the songs complement the scenes well. I am actually surprised at the lack of songs played during some romantic moments. Oftentimes you would hear loud music blasted on screen for any hint of a romance. But here, there’s a lot of silence in the scenes between Doo Na and Won Joon, and that adds to the emotional impact of their acting.

On another note, I really cannot stand Choi Yi Ra, Miss Brazil. She is so loud and annoying. I wanted to mute her whenever she comes on screen, and especially when she’s with her two friends. I also find her little side romance unnecessary. I would have liked the drama to focus more on Doo Na’s relationship with her manager. Oh, and Hello Lee Jin Woo, you are looking mighty fine in that suit, acting all arrogant and bossy. ? The few flashbacks we got of Doo Na and her manager were not enough to tell me why she was so obsessed with him. It has to be more than liking him and clinging on to him as if he’s her only family. I also would like more scenes of Doo Na and Sweet Dreams’ group members (before and after).

Moreover, I also felt that the anxiety and panic attacks that Doo Na was experiencing were swept under the rug. Aside from being abandoned in a house alone, there was no talk of therapy or help. Did she miraculously heal by being abandoned, sleeping and eating a lot? Did love heal her? It seems too easy for her to set foot on stage again.

As for the ending, I want to believe that it’s a happy ending. I want to believe that after the emotional reconciliation 4 years later (and I love that scene), they came to understand each other again. That the very last scene is a very discreet way for them to meet in Japan for business individually, and having secret dates after work.

I definitely recommend this drama if you are looking for a melo-healing romance with sizzling chemistry. Fans of Suzy and Yang Se Jong should not miss it as well.

An easy watch throughout

Started watching this at the beginning of this year, GAVE UP, then came back, so my memory of the start of the story is fractured.
Overall it was a good watch, I liked all of the characters (especially Akaji's character idk why lol). story was ok too, the moral of the story was kinda basic (carve your own path in life) with rather simple mini stories but surprisingly none of them were annoying, made it rather relaxing.
Ending was obviously idealistic, almost Deus ex Machina for one, felt bad for that guy getting cucked in the end but o wel, could see it coming. Wholesome nonetheless.

A Drama with a Great Premise that fails to Deliver

Behind Your Touch really caught my eye from the trailers I had seen of it and the lighthearted goofy tone it had promised really enthralled me. It did a fantastic job early on in the drama but it later failed on that premise going down a much darker tone while focusing too much on the main plotline's twists and the twists of the twists. With the cast it had, I expected much more but because of the writing's focus too much on the plotline twist, their performances were overshadowed by trying to deliver the twists.

The cast itself was perfect, every single actor and actress played their roles perfectly from the main cast to the supporting cast. Han Ji-min, Lee Min-ki, and Suho all did fantastic jobs with their main roles leaving nothing but the best performances. The supporting cast was also perfect, especially Kim Yong Myung the guy that called Ok Hui unnie always and dated her. He is probably one of my favorite recurring characters out of all of the dramas I have ever watched. I always looked forward to seeing him in a scene.

The story itself started out really great with its lighthearted tone with in the first few episodes which had spots of dark plot points here and there which was fine. But the drama quickly turned into an unnecessarily dark and violent plot. The story itself as well relies heavily on the major plot point of who the serial killer is leaving only slight hints here and there. I myself predicted the Shaman being the serial killer correctly but there could have been a bit more hints. The reveal for the serial killer was actually pretty well delivered I have to say though. Because of all of that the drama fails to establish proper relationships between the characters which the drama desperately needed. Outside of the investigation work, the two leads only interact about their own personal lives very little .

The drama itself however did deliver on the whole psychometric powers concept pretty well with how they use the powers and the funny consequence of using it too much. The music itself in the drama was pretty forgetful outside of the opening theme and the cinematography for the drama was solid. Overall, it's an okay drama that flip flops on concepts which personally for me disappointed because I would have liked it if the drama committed to one concept.

Gawin is a Leading Man!

I think I along with everyone else who saw It at the time were shocked by the announcement that Fluke Gawin Caskey was going to be a lead in a new BL with none other than Krist Perwat. Now I had no prior experience with Krist, as I have not seen SOTUS yet but when I saw Gawin, of course I was instantly on the bandwagon to watch.
I mean after all I am a Gawin FANATIC. He's one of my top 5 Favorites ever duh! After Dark Blue Kiss, Enchanté and NOT ME, I was hooked. I could see his star power and I was waiting until we got to see him again.
So I went into this series completely unaware of what it was going to be about or who was in the cast, I genuinely went into it blindly because of my love for one of the leads, and I have to say, I wouldn't have it any other way. I got to experience every emotion to the fullest. And let me tell you this series was amazing. I am genuinely upset that it hasn't received the attention and recognition that it definitely deserves.
This series genuinely impressed me a lot. I mean speaking about Gawin alone, this is a complete turn around from his other characters. We got to see him play one of the biggest and cutest green flag characters I've ever seen. In his other roles he's more gruff and more intense. (Excluding Enchanté) More of a fighter and survivor. Here we got to see him play the role of the cute, clingy, ball of fun but who still has great opinions and values, and speaks up vocally about what's right and wrong. Willingly pushing away and separating from toxic people. As He Should like the king he is!
Like I said above I had no prior experience with Krist so I genuinely went into his acting blindly. And I gotta say he was amazing. Krist is the main character so we spent most of the time with him going through his journey.
We get to see Kawi struggle, hurt, learn, accept and evolve throughout the series and it's a beautifully painful ride. The show's themes highlight living life the best and most authentic way you can. We get to see Regrets, Personal Growth and Authentic Love.
And don't even get me started in the amazing supporting cast of characters like Pear and Max who were wonderful friends, played by none other than the absolutely Beautiful Aye Sarunchana and the adorkable Aou Thanaboon.
I can't praise it enough. If you haven't yet, or you're not sure you should please please, check it out. Do it for Gawin at least ?

Unbeliebubble

Holy smoke. I don’t know where to start.
I was craving thrillers/murderer/mystery/crime and I heard about this drama that has an outstanding twist. Which is why I decided to watch it. First of all, the family. I love them! I love love them. Eun HA! She did an amazing job portraying her character as their daughter. She sometimes gives me BABY FEVER?.
The main couple though, Holy! The way they show their love to eachother and how they express their emotions are impressive. This is probably my first time seeing a lot of emotional scenes. Lots of crying! Their cries are surreal. They really demonstrate their love and how compassion they are for each other.
I just love the couple and the family.
The mystery in general was out of the box. Great THRILLER AND AMAZING TWIST.
i love THE VILLIAN!!! ahh. I'm a big fan of Him since MONEY HEIST. I've been seeing him a lot in dramas and movies and I'm proud of that!
In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this drama. Stunning story! Amazing cast! It's truly Astonishing to watch this movie.
The story itself really demonstrates the mystery of the murderer cast.
I just love it! Never seen the side of JOONGI in this GENRE AND he's KILLIN IT?❤️?
THE MAIN FEMALE LEAD!!!! I love HER! I'm a BIG FAN NOW! THEY WAY SHE CRIES. Her tears MAKES ME WANT TO CRY WITH HER. I love HER ACTING I LOVE BOTH OF THEM. THIS DRAMA AHHHHHHH!
Soo good SOOOOO good!

If you're a fan of series with a clear and non-monotonous storyline, you might feel bored in the beginning. However, this series is truly outstanding. I'm not usually a fan of series like this, and it's not a genre I typically watch. The slow-paced plot, however, only makes me more interested and helps me understand every emotion displayed. The emotions I feel are similar to when I watched the film 'The Handmaiden.' To be honest, I'm a little afraid of the character Kijima Rio because they are extremely manipulative, and I get caught up in their games.

Temptation of an Angel (2009) - who would watch a 2009 drama in 2020? Me! Aw, it is all because of Bae Soo Bin, eventually I start having interest in this drama is because of Graceful Friends. It's hard to watch an ongoing drama since I have to wait a week for new episodes to come out, that's why I started watching this so I could distract myself. This revenge drama is really good but way too unrealistic. So I just fooled myself and finished this in 2 days. I really am invested with the whole revenge theme and the main leads are good. I am in awe with their acting, they were so good. Lee So Hyun did good in portraying Ah Ran – she is so infuriating but at the same time I pity her, and as a viewer I’m quite conflicted I should support her or not. Base on my memory it’s my first-time seeing Jin Tae Hyun as an actor that is on the spotlight. He really portrayed Nam Joo Seung perfectly, I was really amazed with his acting, award winning. Though the drama is serious, I also did like that they tried to insert some comedic scenes with the side characters to make the drama lighter.

Ohmigawd I just love this series

It is a very light and not long series. But the story is very nice, light hearted, amusing and lots of adorable parts. It's definitely my first time watching a series of Rain Lu (main or support) but I have watched various series of Luo Zheng. I have to say, these 2 together really make an adorable couple, especially the cute tantrums and the flustered ways of Luo Zheng when jealousy hits. The psychotic of the Male Lead's younger brother is also abit freaky, but no big harm. Overall, it is indeed a wonderful series to watch

I would recommend this show to be watched, if you are looking for a light, funny and a little bit of romance series. And, if you love it..... you can binge it the 2nd 3rd n etc times <3

The music is also very nicely paired and some of the songs are catchy (for me). Great work to the entire cast for this series!

He was sunshine, I was midnight rain

October 23, 2023

Doona, this kdrama hits so hard, because I feel like it is a perfect story regarding the behind the stories of romances of idols/celebrities with "ordinary" people. This kdrama made me cry at the end because I know the pain of having to choose your career over romantic relationship.

The OST hits so good as well, but Midnight Rain by TS really captures the storyline of Doona and Wonjun. I know a lot of people are mad about the ending being unsatisfying, but I think this drama is about the reality. And the sad truth is not everyone will experience that happy-ever after ending that they dream of. Donna is a perfect example of that.

So please, to all the ones who is asking for that reality melodrama spiced up with angst. Please give DOONA the love that is deserves!

The Man Who Can’t Get Married (2009) - I don’t know why I watched this drama but I guess this was the time that I am searching for something to watch and I read the plot and liked it.

The drama did get boring as it pass by but I also have a fun time watching this one as there are funny scenes that are well executed. The main leads in the drama are a great selection since they portrayed their roles very well. I like that there are no evil characters in the drama as well that is why it is quite an okay watch. If you want to a feel good drama that do not have frustrating evil leads, go watch this drama.

Cinderella Man (2009) - it's one of the dramas that I would have forgotten if not of this post long ago. I didn't even think about Cinderella in this drama, more likely it's like the prince and the pauper. Kwon Sang Woo being Dae San is so cute. He could really pull off this kind of character smoothly. Seeing Yoona here, probably one of her first acting is also good considering she's an idol. More of like a forgettable drama since it has that pretty average storyline with no wow factor or significant something that I would recommend. This drama tells me that trust is much better than money.
