Storyline Issues

Started on 9/18/2020, finished on 9/25/2020. After pondering about this show for almost a year, this review is my verdict.

Overall: 8.5/10

The Story: 6.5 out of 10.
The premise was charming, but the execution was not. (((((Slight spoiler: I disliked the memory loss plot, as it was pointless and made simply for a longer story. It is also cheezy and cliché in my opinion.))))) No spoiler version: the ending was not as quick-paced and riveting as the first half. The plot was dragging extremely. The writer conveniently writes twists so that the plot moves smoothly, but it is not done well. It is messy and illogical. It felt like the writer could not think of anything else, something that would tie seamlessly into the beginning information.

The Acting/Cast: 8.5 out of 10.
Although I was sort of annoyed with the female lead’s (Han Hyo Joo’s) acting, it is bearable. The male lead’s (Lee Jong Suk’s) acting was just okay as well. I liked the cast of the male and female actors. They had great romance and chemistry. The acting that I enjoyed was of the female lead’s dad (Kim Eui Sang). His acting was phenomenal and made up for the mediocre acting. I also enjoyed the bodygaurd (Lee Tae Hwan) and the acting of the female lead’s brother (Lee Si Eon).

The Music: 9.5 out of 10.
Although the music is not revolutionary, hearing the music gives me nostalgia and memories of this show. I loved the main theme of the show, and the music was placed well with the show.

The Rewatch Value: 10 out of 10.
This Rewatch Value plays a big factor in the rating of this show. Although the story was not that great, the suspense and emotions are overwhelming. This show can be watched multiple times, unlike other shows. At the moment, you will love this show immensely. This show is very charming.

Conclusion:
W is a show with a questionable plot and writing, but amazing emotions and writing. It’s an essential show to watch, just for the feels. If the writing and acting were better, this show could easily be a 10 or 9 out of 10 (an 8.8 or 8.7 as of MDL ratings). The writing/plot is a let-down.

the general idea was good
it was talking about character development and how to accept each other
the characters spoiled it
i saw their acting were overreacting
and i couldn't bear when they make their sound thick as a kind of being funny
it wasn't funny at all

they should remove comedy from the genre
it was crime to say this sh** was comedy
i didn't even smile

the fashions were awful

the end was somehow open one, although both leads loved each other
the most annoying characters for me were
banba & mayaya both were horrible literally this wasn't autism nor something mentally
this was kind of sh**

i dislike the show and began to give up totally JD
after (from 5 to 9 ) & (we married as a job)
i couldn't find something good as them to watch till now

From Queen of Tears to Viewer's Tears

April 28, 2024

Queen of Tears is that Kdrama that I have been waiting for ever since it was announced. For me, I definitely had great expectations with this series and I think it did deliver that.

I do believe that the casts carried the majority of the little plot holes that kind of existed. Nevertheless, it was a great ride of show in terms of really feeling rom-com, angsty, dramatic, and mysterious vibes of it.

The chemistry is oozing, that was something that we all cheered and devoured. Like when are we going to find our own Hyun-woo? Our main leads put their best acting and solidified their A list Kdrama actors' status for sure. Before watching the finale, I have been seeing the reviews or the criticism of other viewers. And I must say, there is a point of overly hatred towards this drama. I definitely agree that certain plot tropes and progression could have been better in a sense. Like there are couple characters that were introduced but never really was served a sense of purpose in a way. But I do think that it is more on the minimal side, and it will only really really bother you if you pay attention like a detective.

For the first quarter of 2024 kdramas, I can definitely say that Queen of Tears deserve its popularity and support from both local and international audiences.

That 2 hour finale was amazing and I think that it something I would love to rewatch again as my comfort show.

With the title "I'm sticking with my past because you are my future", the special episode of the Taiwanese LGBTIQ+ themed romantic drama series 'VIP Only Special' ( 保留席位 番外篇 / VIP Only Extra Episodes, Bao Liu Xi Wei Fan Wai Pian, Pao Liu Hsi Wei Fan Wai Pian) brings us return to Gu Jing, the handsome and attractive chef who owns a creative and retro restaurant, and Liu Li, the BL-themed novelist who rents a room upstairs from Gu's restaurant, to update the viewer on their romantic relationship.
On this occasion, the setting in which the characters develop will not be the meat noodle shop owned by Gu to which Liu Li goes every day to carry out his writing work, but rather a natural environment of rivers and mountains where the characters will go couples to enjoy a weekend.
Starring Stan Huang as Gu Jing, and Chen Xuan Yu as Liu Li, the episode will confirm that the author who uses the pseudonym Morris continues to write and publish best-selling romance novels based on his real-life experiences, having Gu and her tender and exciting love life are the main source of inspiration.
Directed by Lian Yu Zhe (Anti Reset, 2024), the episode, about 28 minutes long, gives us romantic interactions between Liu Li and Gu Jin, with tender and deep kisses added, which will delight lovers of the genre.
Based on the script written by Cai Fei Qiao, Xiao Yi Wei and Chen Liang Ci, the audiovisual delves into the relationship between the two boys who began to fall in love when Boss Gu asks Liu Li to go on dates with him to stimulate his imagination at a time when he suffered from writer's block and found no inspiration after being rejected by his platonic love.
Without the usual beard and with a candy in his mouth, the Taiwanese actor Stan Huang, with his fiery look and charming smile, has the power to continue making the public fall in love. This time I find it much more attractive and fascinating.
With the growing chemistry between the two protagonists, the audiovisual allows us to appreciate how the two boys live in harmony and support each other, allowing them to overcome difficulties and experience personal growth.
I would like Vidol, the Taiwanese streaming platform that makes BL series such as 'Stay by My Side' (2023), 'VIP Only' (2023), 'Anti-Reset' (2024) and 'You Are Mine' (2023) , continue releasing Special Episodes and new dramas of the genre.
The public will also be able to enjoy how the audiovisual returns to Yao Shun Yu (Hsiao Hung) and Xia Shang Zhou (Parker Mao), the protagonists of 'You are Mine', a Taiwanese drama of which we were also recently able to see a Special Episode.
Much more can still be extracted from 'VIP Only'. I would love to see, for example, a romantic relationship between Liu Da Ren (Tim Cheng) and Lai Dai Yi/"Lai Tsai" (Kurt Huang), as well as Gu's chance to convince Liu Li's parents to accept the marriage love relationship between the two boys "with the same attitude that you used with my parents", referring to the way in which the young novelist defends Gu from his abusive mother in the series and affirms that there is a loving bond between the two.

THE GORE!

I was rewatching movie "hold me back" (2020) a couple weeks back and i was so drawn to the voice of A. I'm sorry but yes that was the first time i notice Tomoya Nakamaru.... IM SORRY OK?!! So i was looking at his filmography and found that our man is on kamen rider project and also with Hidetoshi Nakajima?? SIGN ME IN. Thats how i end up watching this. The story is quite heavy for a person like me who's here for having fun, but i still enjoy it thoo. I never watch kamen rider project outside the anuall so this is a first great experience to finally relish the reputation of adult tokusatsu.

I know I should wait a little longer to let me pulse settle down before reviewing this show, but I just can’t help it. Hotel Del Luna, right now, is the best show I’ve ever watched. I realize that my taste is not the same as others, so I’ll explain why I think this is so fabulous.

Story:
This is a morality play with people portraying virtues or as in this case the faces of God. In episode 1 we are introduced to Jang Man Wol (portrayed perfectly by IU) who is revenge happy and is killing everyone she comes in contact with. With an interesting altercation with the grandmother persona of Ma Go Shin (stunning performance by Seo Yi Sook), she thrusts her angry sword into a tree and becomes the owner of a hotel for ghosts remaining on earth to deal with unresolved issues before moving on to the next step.

Flashforward 1300 years and the Hotel Del Luna is a gorgeous hotel with the anti-hero Jang Man Wol and her interesting employees still helping or not the dead. The hotel requires a human manager to deal with the mortal world and Goo Chan Sung (sigh….Yeo Jin Goo) gets the job (through some interesting back and forth between him and Jang Man Wol). Each episode deals with different guests and their afterlife needs. This show has it all, horror, romance, bromance, suspense, comedy, fantasy, and more. It does tackle the serious subject of holding grudges beautifully

Characters:
There wasn’t one actor that didn’t do a “kick butt” job in this show from IU’s performance as Jang Man Wol to Lee Do Hyun’s insane second male lead story line to the cameo performances from such greats like Candidate #1 and #2 played by Lee Shi Un and Lee Joon Gi (both were amusing). I wrote a couple of articles on the show, so I won’t go into detail nor will I give any spoilers just to say, every character was well written and acted….although I would have loved a little more screen time and lines for the grim reaper because he was just delightful. And the cameo of Kim Soo Hyun at the end…..well worth it just for that scene alone!

Music:
Wow…the music was just exceptionally good, so good I even downloaded a few songs. The Done for Me and Can You See My Heart songs are used in key scenes that just made me cry or shiver in dread. They were my favorite, but the rest were wonderful as well.

Re-watch-ability:
Needless to say, I have already re-watched this all the way through once and picked up a few more key insights that I missed the first time thru. I recommend it because it is just as good, if not better, the second time thru.

Overall:
I JUST LOVED THE MORALITY PLAY! There is something about symbolism and stories of right and wrong that I just adore…I can’t get enough of. HDL really hits it out of the park with the what is good and what is bad question. Hotel Del Luna blends the morality play and the other genre’s beautifully…if you didn’t like it as much as I did…sorry. All I can say is this show speaks to my sensibilities. The writers obviously had me in mind when creating such an awesome show. (Ok not really but it felt like it!)

A really good drama, but

I waited this drama after lost you forever for Zhang wanyi and also for chu ran who I'm also a big fan of, so I was really excited to watch this

The production is good, the casting and acting especially Zhang wanyi. I really love the way he acts whether it's a serious drama or a comedy he can really carry the whole show. Wang churan also, I love her acting and her sweet softy aura. I watch both of their previous drama before so I'm not worried about the casting or acting of them. The story is also good and the leads has a really strong chemistry and tension which what keeps me watching this drama. But I expected too much which is, I should not do for a 40 episode drama. I actually want to see more of their story like the back story of luwen and how cool she is, also the backstory of ziyu and miantang if they really love each other(?) ziyu's backstory as the late crown prince son is also interesting. And also the angst, I thought this will be angsty especially between the leads, I expected a strong enemies to lovers between them. But yeah they already fell madly to each other (which I also love. I just want to see an angst between them, like being in love but also has to be enemies first). There's a lot of questions leave hanging but this drama focus on lead's love story so that's okay. Afterall the genre is romcom and they give justice to it. The overdramatic husband huaiyang and his iconic expressions lol, and calm pretty wife miantang who always assured and calms her husband. I will not disregard the comedy of another leads the funny zhennan and He zhen their interaction always makes me laugh and also touch. I also love empress xueji how she's really open minded and didn't let her self be on the side of evil even how bad she was treated in her familys, she's unprejudice and so kind. She always understands ziyu and do not felt any jealous to fl, to the point that the Emperor didn't deserve her.

This drama still deserves an almost 10 ratings, as this is one of my favorite comfort drama of the year❤️

A GOOD HOBBY

I particularly liked the entire plot of this K-drama. He brought up issues that are common to Brazilians today, namely inequality.

The story is very engaging and keeps you hooked from beginning to end. The delivery men, their objectives, the life story of the main one and the story of 5-8 are very interesting and “intriguing”, so to speak.

The action scenes were very well designed and unlike other dramas, these scenes do not seem superficial or unrealistic at all.

I admit to having fallen in love with the actors and having cried at the death of the “useless” guy :(

It will definitely be a drama that I will recommend to someone in the future.

Korean BL ... what to say about it? I love Korean storytelling. And seeing Korea is making BL series is a reason to be excited. Talking about "Where your eyes linger": the chemistry was great, the acting, the music. The plot was nothing revolutionary, but they added some angst like you don't see it in Thai BL (for example). In general, it was a great watch with very complex characters. It was hard to guess their motives most of the time, but it all came together pretty well at the end. There were still many plotholes and looking back I get the impression they were beating around the bush. It was obviously a BL story, but many people wondered until the very end if it will be only bromance - that tells you a lot about how their relationship was portrayed. Korea still isn't very clear and straight forward about gay love. But that's okay. With this series they only tested the waters. Hopefully we will see more Korean BL series in the future. This was a pretty good start.

First half - great. Second half - just ok.

The rating was 8.7 and I thought it’d be awesome possum.

The first half of this drama was full of cute shenanigans and was really pretty funny. I laughed quite a bit and enjoyed myself a lot. The drama was very cute when the two leads first got to know each other and before they became a couple. The misunderstandings were not agonizing. Rather, their misunderstandings were kind of cute and engaging. I really had a fun ride for the first half of this drama.

The second half of this drama was not quite as enjoyable and funny as the first half though. There were parts that were rather ‘meh’ and ‘hmm’. The love between the couple was sweet and sincere but it wasn’t sizzling hot and ‘wow-whee’. After the leads got together, they were rather ‘meh’ as a couple.

Overall, this drama is watchable. I just do not think that it’s worth 8.7 / 10. I’d think that it’s more 7.5 / 10 :)
