With the popularity of english movies and series like Twilight and Vampire Diaries, I wasn't expecting much with the storyline but seeing as this was Ahn Jae Hyeon's first time to take on a lead role, I was kind of rooting for him. Upon watching the first episode, I wanted to drop the series all together, Gu Hye Seon's acting was annoying and it made me wonder how she was so much better before. The storyline could have worked if the actors were able to deliver them to the audience.

Story: It was refreshing to see vampirism as a form of virus. I would say Ji Sang's drive to continue being a doctor despite his vampirism was commendable. However, I kind of liked it better when he was actually doing doctor operations and stuff rather than roaming aimlessly in the hospital. The pinch of romance was okay too what with the dangers lurking just around Ji Sang, he needed something to ground him.

Acting: Ugh, I don't know if I should say sorry for saying this but seriously the acting made me cringe and ask myself why I was watching this drama at all. Ahn Jae Hyeon and Gu Hye Seon had NO chemistry together which is so frustrating. Ji Jin Hee was the only one that could act but even his acting couldn't save this wreck of a drama.

Rewatch Value: NO. Just no, I just want to move on.

This is a very strange rom com, but in a good way. In many ways it's a love triangle between a shy doormat, a rebellious man-crazy ghost, and a very vain chef. It's also a comedy about a team of chefs in a restaurant (Think "Pasta"). It's also a mystery thriller, which keeps it engaging when the love story starts to follow too closely to the K Drama standard plot. The plot may be a little hard to follow in the beginning, since there are so many characters, but it eventually all comes together. The story also switches from comedy, to romance, to thriller, refusing to stick to one style completely. It's definitely an ambitious plot, but I think Oh My Ghostess succeeds.

The cast is outstanding, and the reason why the complicated story works so well. Park Bo Young is the most impressive in a lot of ways. She switches from timid to bold believably, which is what makes the love triangle work. She has great chemistry with Jo Jung Suk, which is a huge plus, although I was often annoyed by Seon Woo. The scenes when she aggressively propositions him are hilarious, and a nice change from how these romances usually develop. Those scenes are what convinced me to keep watching.

Many of the supporting cast members are as engaging as the main characters. The bromantical team of Chefs, Bing Go the ghost hunter, Sun Ae's father, Seon Woo's mom, Im Joo Hwan's smile... Still, Kim Seul Gi is my favorite of the main cast. I was rooting for her from the beginning, and she is the show's star in my opinion. She made me laugh out loud, and cry buckets, and I looked forward to her scenes the most.

I had to give this show a high rewatch score, because I am already watching it again. Since I know the story now, there are moments in the beginning that I see differently, and it's making me like the drama even more (Especially the first episode). I became so invested in the characters that I enjoy watching the story again from that perspective.

Overall this drama was a happy surprise. It had elements of two dramas I love ("Pasta" and "Master's Sun") while still being original enough to stand on it's own. There are definitely predictable moments, and filler comedy moments, lots of coincidences, and some over used K Drama standards towards the end, but I was still never bored. The thriller element wasn't the strongest storyline, but it was still good, and certainly entertaining. I was happy with how it all ended too, which is important when you have so many characters that you suddenly care about. I definitely recommend watching this one with an open mind. You may not be into it in the beginning, but if you're like me, you soon won't be able to stop watching it, as if you're... wait for it... possessed.

Slow And Dull The Series

Honestly this was one of the most boring BL's I've ever seen. We started off pretty slow and it never really sped up. Not gonna lie I had to watch this sped up lol or else I would've never gotten through it. We're back in the engineering genre, which is okay I don't mind those too much. I liked seeing Lhong from TharnType in another series! Bbom was cute and a badie with the drum kit. I would say episode 3 things kinda started to happen, but lord it took too long . There was way too much unutilized time that could be developing characters or plot wasted on scenes with eating, drinking alcohol, sleeping or just a bunch of nothing. This was this series downfall and it never stood a chance.

Other things that bugged me was why there gotta be crazy BL fans or whatever in these shows!? Like know your audience, that's just stalking. As well as, Jin is kinda a user throughout the series, and just a lame character. He knows Bbom likes him and he's using him for food and transportation which isn't cool. At least by ep 5 after the kiss Jin is admitting he has some type of feelings going on but he just doesn't know what he wants to do with them. Dude hit the jackpot having Bbom in his bed all the time but is too dumb to realize it. He also gets hurt playing soccer multiple times lookin like a fool. And I didn't like that he lead on that one girl on either, she liked him and he's so not into it. At least he told her eventually but it should've been before the date

Keam and Ball seem hella cute. But again, these men need to stop leading women on in this! They also didn't really pan out at all so what a waste.Continuing on. I swear to god if I had to hear Jin say one more time that he doesn't know his own feelings Imma scream! Dude cut the crap, and then 2 seconds later he's like "I'LL DATE YOU!" Then we get cutesy stuff and then cut to them spooning half naked in bed. Wtf the whiplash. Why would anybody put up with Jin for so long? I'm honestly curious lol because he's so boring and indecisive. There's no emotional benefit to the relationship for Bbom and sure as hell isn't a physical aspect to it. So why?

Okay another thing. I don't know what kind of f***** up friends Bbom has but you don't dose someones drink EVER and what makes it worse is that they pressure him to finish it before he's about to drive. Awful AND if that's not enough they slip a condom into his pocket, implying he should "get laid" while hes going to be clearly not sober. I did not enjoy this show very much at all lol and I don't know how anyone did. The best parts of this are literally the theme song and some of the other music. As well as, Bbom as a character was good. Skip this one or just watch his scenes.

Gone with the Wind, My Dearest…

It’s worth noting that the genre tags on MDL are historical, romance, drama, melodrama and not comedy, because even though the start has all the hallmarks of a romcom, as it progresses it gets a great deal more serious. I didn’t find the transition in Episode 4 altogether convincing and that is probably because the contrast in tone and overall production style between the start and what was to come is so marked that I couldn’t reconcile them. By the end, the impression was that I had watched two different dramas. Yes I do get that the writer wanted a contrast between peace and war, but for me, the frivolous approach to the opening didn’t lay a credible foundation for what was to come.

There is now a well established practice of sugar-coating a 21C story with pretty costumes and sets borrowed from an earlier era and dumping all the inconvenient things like the contemporaneous social rules and attitudes. The opening three episodes of this production sit very squarely in that camp. The costumes and sets are far too rich, clean and bright for the period and the social interactions are so far from the 17C that they had to script a line about how this village had lax attitudes to contact between men and women.

The story then transitions into sweeping epic mode and does a very creditable job of fulfilling the demands of flawed characters, poisoned chalices and lesser of two evils choices. At heart it is a love story and the character development of the two lead characters is the thread that binds it all together. This first part focuses more on how war and difficulty transforms our heroine from petulant, manipulative teenager to a strong and capable woman. And I suspect that the second half will focus on the male protagonist whose character also needs to grow somewhat.

The plot surrounding this love story is the politics of the time, which is given a creditable depth with a side serving of weeping melo. My gripe, which is not overly huge, is that the love story and the politics were not quite enmeshed enough for me. As a result it felt a little fragmented. The male protagonist was half-heartedly twisted into the political plot, which was correct for his character, but not helpful for overall cohesion.

I did enjoy the range of characters which offered the actors a chance to get their teeth into them with varying degrees of success. Namkoong Min can be smooth, slippery and enticing anywhere, and I think that Ahn Yun Jin stepped up to the plate with the later episodes, but her performance was a little patchy in places. Perhaps because of the irreconcilable styles I mentioned earlier. Another notable performance for me was Choi Young Woo as the barbarian general.

The music was a mixed bag. I liked the opening sequence, the low camera angle, the muted tones and the silence followed by strains of music that had echoes of history in it. But we soon graduated to the hackneyed swelling strings and a full-on Kolly-Bollywood dance. In general, the music disappointed. The introduction to the unsurpassable singer (Ryang Eum) in the story just felt ordinary to me, although later instances were more convincing. There were however, some good OST ballads, mostly used for the ending credits.

Overall, it would be churlish to call this production average. What stops it from being exceptional is the uneven writing that created a somewhat bumpy ride. However, it was good enough for me to want to embark on part 2 when it arrives.

Had high hopes but it ended up being another cliche

There are a lot of reviews and others have already pointed out some points I agree with but I'm not sure why they all gave a rating of 8, when this drama is a 7 at most. As another reviewer said, this drama is quite monotone (I never found myself excited/really happy/anxious). I really liked the set-up of the story with the fake amnesia. There were definitely going to be some tropes in there (rich CEO does what he thinks is best for the girl), but the execution/storyline was just plain and offered no twists, every possible basic cutesy scene somehow executed in a repetitive lame way (might be something to do with the chemistry or acting), and very uneven pacing (a very draggy middle and very medium-paced beginning and end).
If they somehow managed to pull of a unique storyline (which I was expecting) and cutesy scenes, it could've easily been a 8.5 or 9. One thing I did like was the OST, specifically the song at the end of each episode (can't tell if part of the reason is my eager to get through the episodes). If you have extra time and are comfortable with skimming/skipping through a few scenes in the middle, this drama might be for you. The beginning and end is good though, so at least you won't feel unsatisfied.

rape is not romance.

Jao Sao Prissana and its male lead character, was old the day it finished filming. But, a drama-teaching moment in the depths of apathy, that can be found in a male lead personality. The male lead is nothing, if not apathetic and momma's boy. The male lead doesn't care who he marries, because, there is a hostess bar waiting for him somewhere. Or, how many, illegal as that might be, as long as mom says to. Marrying his step-cousin, was like watching paint dry. Yes, that apathy was maddening. If an emotion crossed his face that I believed, those rape scenes wouldn't have made me confused, but angry. Confused, in what(?) just happened, with a rewind to confirm. There was no reason for the male lead to rape the female lead (twice), nothing. But, then laying all the sins of this plot on the female lead was just as cringey. 'Rape culture', doesn't belong in any story, much less this one. The underlining revenge plot without a rape, would be worth a remake. But still; Rape is not romance, and does not belong in the romance genre. Avoid.

I enjoyed this drama. The acting was very good, and the writing was funny. The chemistry was amazing and their are many scenes that are incredibly sexy without being overdone. However, My Queen would have benefited from being shorter. Towards the later half their are episodes the two main characters don't even appear in together, and the angst keeping the two apart seems contrived. That said, I completely recommend it. Just don't feel guilty about fast forwarding a bit during the later episodes.

One of the best historicl dramas

Lets start with the story although it had some clichés, like the struggle for power within the court. We also get to see new things like a soft male lead and our tough general female lead. The roles got reversed which is something refreshing to see. Our female lead was also smart and was never a damsel in distress. We also have two loyal friends who never betray her and major character development from all of them. We got to see how our duke changed from a playboy to someone demoted to his wife. This story has to simply the best historical drama out there. I also loved how they stayed loyal to each other after they started getting along.

No idea what’s going on , but I kind of like it ???

it’s been a long time since I laughed so hard.
the drama was first introduced to me on instagram by the account kdramaswithitunnu. I must admit that I have no clue where this story is going but I like it better then the cliché King the land… sorry not sorry.

on the otherhand I wish I could slap some sense into these jealous women. if there is no trust or you have to fight this hard.. then it’s not meant to be. Although some of the men seam the be missing a backbone. I do hope it grows back by the final episodes

Seriously what’s going on …… I hope there is a season 2 because, I don’t know what just happened in the last episode. It’s like a rollercoasters ride but you get stuck before the drop . Not mad just confused ???

Short and sweet fluff or two hours long ad?

When they said mini drama they meant it. It is about 2 hours total in length. I have seen it presented as 20 x 6 mins episodes or 3 longer episodes each about 42mins long.

The premise is quite straightforward. The ML knew the FL when they were younger and there was a hint of first love but they lost contact. By some cliché plot device, the ML was transported into the future and met up with the FL again and they are now both working adults. He ended up living with the FL for a while and they fell in love all over again.

The story is fairly straightforward. It has a tropey plot but there was no nasty surprises. The OTP had good chemistry and they made a cute, good looking couple. A big negative was the egregious product placements. It wasn't just the usual jar of cosmetics by the sink or drinks in the fridge. They actually wrote the ads into the script so that the actors pushed one company's products relentlessly. At one stage, the ML got a job selling the products in a shopping centre and, of course, he has to demonstrate the products and tell us all about their benefits.

On the whole, it was a harmless show with a decent plot (point deducted for all the PPL). Cute and fluffy with minimal investment in your time and emotions. Think of it as a palate cleanser between two must watch shows.

Exciting!

The whole series as a whole is really exciting! I thought that I would not like a time loop series as it gets boring over time repeating the same scene again and again. However, each time the main characters do a time loop, it actually gets more and more exciting!

Both the ML and FL are really smart in making decisions between each loop so you definitely won't feel annoyed because they make a dumb decision.

You also get to know and understand most of the background stories of the bus passengers.

The show is mainly focused on how the ML & FL plan to save every passenger on the bus to exit the time loop. There is a slight romance part in the show as well such as hugging, who won't be stressed out dying over and over again, they need to comfort each other-

Overall, 10/10! Do give it a go!

I wish I didn't watch it....

Because I cant never watch it for the first time anymore. I Loved this series so much.

I've seen a lot of comments about the show being cringy and embarrassing. In the words of Viola Davis "To make you feel those moments that you have in private that I'm bringing to the public; They may make you squirm but if you recognize it Then I've done my job as an actor".

So basically when we watched Toh does the things we would not be caught dead doing, we're actually remember those times we thought about doing them or even done them in private so actually seeing it being done in public...on the screen, makes us feel exposed so of course the first thing out of our mouths is how Toh is crazy and etc and try to disassociate his character from us.

No lie detected here. I Jost hope people realize how good this show is in dismantling our perception of others by how the media/society views us.

Brave new Penthouse!!!!!

My absolute most anticipated series ever and the absolute best of the year in my opinion in all categories. However, want to warn sensitive viewers that this is absolutely not a quiet thriller. It basically has a very picaresque plot, which really feels extremely villainous and very nasty. This is a makjang in an even more extreme form, when you didn't think you could get more in The Penthouse incredibly. Builds on a revenge story in many stages that is anchored in various events. Wilder and crazier than ever, compared to what I've seen before.

These 7 different leads with different backgrounds, captured at the same time. There is a reason that is explained why over time. We find out their motives and backstory, how they are involved and what they have in common. The relationships between the characters, their lifestyles and secrets. Also their goals and life history.

Is there a common motive, what happened to the missing girl and what was the meaning of her. Since everyone is sneaky, there are no hero roles in this one. Everyone ambushes each other. Don't feel that everyone is honorable directly because of their moral choices. Romance is never in focus when it comes to this author's series, as there is more focus on family relationships instead. Family relationships are complicated when they are not united, much dividing their desires and goals. At the same time, there are a lot of families to keep an eye on. The family part is only one aspect of the plot.

A mammoth series that is extremely well made with very epic and grand soundtracks. Also has nice effects with its high production quality. Entertaining through and through and very exciting, there isn't a quiet minute before the next thing happens. Indescribable chaos from start to finish. Raw and crazy without hiding anything. The reason behind the title is revealed over time. Really like her way of writing, how she mixes family, music and thriller at a terrific pace. This year's favorite and my personal favorite along with The Penthouse. A magnificent masterpiece!!!!!!
