Japanese Movies

It was spectacular and I think it's my first time to watch a J-movie based on World War II.

The story is set in 2004 after Matsuno's funeral, her grandchildren Kentaro and Keiko discover that Oishi Kenichiro is not their biological grandfather and therefore they decide to discover the true story of their family: their biological grandfather was called Miyabe Kyuzo, who died in the Pacific War as a Kamikaze pilot. Miyabe had an astute ability as a pilot of fighter planes, but he was extraordinarily afraid of death. Thus begins his story told by his war companions, at least from those who survived: initially it turns out to be a coward but continuing to investigate it turns out not to be.

The plot is not slow in my opinion because based on how the story is told this procedure of facts is right. I'm not good at 'history' so I can't say anything of what has been told but I found interesting.

You could already imagine the little final love story as it had happened and I appreciated seeing it because it was needed in this plot ;;

Good effects and good cast/acting! If you liked "Pearl Harbor" you might also like this, so.. recommended!

I mainly chose it for the cast, I wasn't entirely aware of what it was about. For me this movie is quite good. If you are looking for a horror, this is not the one for you! It's mostly a friendship school drama with a hint of mystery and suspense. The acting is good but not always perfect. I didn't regret watching it but I don't think I'll watch it again ;;

I only watched it out of my pure curiosity.
It is absolutely not my thing. Nothing to criticize about the acting, some parts I also found funny but it is shabby.

What an incredible discovery.... Initially I was tempted to watch it only for the cast but I enjoyed this movie much more than I expected!!!

The plot was a little confusing but I loved this bizarre story. I think if it had been a multi-episode series it would have been more interesting (?) Idk ... I don't think it was necessary but there is also a weird romantic story between the 2 main roles (perhaps it was predictable xD) that near the end of the movie I appreciated ;;

I loved the scenography and the COLORS. Excellent shooting job and the background music for action scenes is perfect!!

All the actors were so good! I was sad for some of them because they only appeared on the screen for a few minutes. I loved the characters (Killers): especially Skin and the 2 women, even if they were c r a z y ...

drama is better!

maybe it was better to miss these (almost) 2 hours watching something more interesting .....

- boring;
- good OST/songs (?);
- poor special effects (in those years was it acceptable?);
- many useless scenes and few dialogues;
- poor acting;
- looks like Godzilla vs King Kong (the fight scenes);
- parts of the story reminded me some famous American movies.

- Good cast!!! It is set in Japan and Thailand so there are actors of different nationalities for this reason most of the speeches are spoken in English;
-It's the 2nd time that I watch this movie and I was amazed to see 2 actors that I have already met in two of my fav BL (thai) series and tbh I do not mind their presence (xD). Nhing Nirut Sirijanya of Until We Meet Again [Korn's father] and Thanayong Wongtrakul of TharnType [Type’s father];
- Good special effects and fighting scenes, although not always credible but it looks like one of those American films with good parts of actions;
- Some scenes were trivial despite being funny! For example, the scene of the 2 cars in the race was fun;
- As I expected Inspector Zenigata was stupid but at the same time funny;
- Jigen and Goemon was my 2 favorite characters, but Lupin too! This trio was superb for me!

It's full of violent scenes and visible blood so I don't recommend watching this movie to sensitive people.... "Killers" have really a good and interesting storyline! It tells the story of 2 people: Nomura, a Japanese psychopath who (particularly) kills girls for sheer taste and fun. Bayu, father of a little girl and husband of Dina who lives in Indonesia one day he sees online a video of a woman who is killed. The same video had been uploaded by Nomura. Bayu took a taxi one evening and 2 people tried to rob him with guns but at that moment he managed to save himself by killing them. He film the blood-filled bodies of the 2 dead boys and upload the video online. After this Nomura begins to chat with Babyu making him understand that "a murderer is hiding inside us" and that he should continue to kill people to understand how he feels. I will not continue to tell the story in order not to spoil the ending but it has been really well done although it was not to my liking at the beginning. The final part I think was the best to end this movie in the best way!!

Ahhh I really loved Kitamura Kazuki in his role ;;

"Ichi the Killer" is dark and twisted. Of course, one of the strangest movies I've ever seen in my entire life but I think it's a masterpiece of its kind with a certain charm of disgust.

I loved the acting of Asano Tadanobu in the role of Kakihara, it was damned extraordinary: I have seen him in other roles but this I think will remain my favorite!!

If you are weak of stomach I don't recommend it ..but if you like scenes of extreme violence and torture this is definitely the one for you! I don't think another movie could ever stand up to the legend this classic has created.

This movie was very c a l m .....

It has an interesting plot and good acting from the cast. Despite the ages of the actors I appreciated their chemistry ;;

I think "Pieta in the Toilet" could be an excellent melodrama but it was not easy to pay attention from the beginning to the end because of how they dealt with the storytelling: sometimes you could get distracted because of many scenes without dialogue or long pauses.
Some parts I liked a lot! For example the scene of the 2 protagonists in the pool with the goldfish or the last few minutes where you can see the portrait he painted on the bathroom wall of his home.

I recommend it but it is not one of my favorites.. it is one of those that I would not watch a second time in the future ;;

The beginning of Tokyo Tribe was bad, continuing has become better. Suzuki Ryohei's acting was great! The character who played Sometani Shota was too 'serious' for my taste but he did a good job. Seino Nana's character can remind you (if you saw the drama) Akasaka Riko in "Kyou Kara Ore wa!!", she was good at her role.

If you don't like violent and "dirty" things, don't watch this. Keep in mind it's a movie of Sion Sono! If you like gangs, rap, fights and boobs this is for you. Definitely, lol.

When I saw the trailer I wasn't so sure I was watching this human vs alien war movie. Even while watching I wanted to drop it, but I was able to continue it until the end because it was not so badly and in some points it was different and interesting. During the end credits I was also able to discover the song of one of my favorite J-pop groups, I'm talking about the J Soul Brothers with "Break of Dawn". I didn't know it was the "Terra Formars" soundtrack.

First of all, the best thing is the cast! Even if they are forced to die one after the other you will not be sad since each character appears for a few minutes so you do not get attached to them. They are mainly people defined by society as being useless and rubbish, therefore to "cockroaches" and each of them has different stories that unfortunately they are not deepened. Until the last minute you don't know who will actually survive and who will die.

Speaking of these aliens... they always have the same expression, it is not clear if they are good or bad until they show a first move. Honestly, for me it's all very disgusting because I don't like little insects: I liked the idea but these cockroaches are really ugly, including the characters who transformed themselves with their DNA to become strong and beat them.

It is certainly not the best Takashi Miike's project I have ever seen, but it is not even so "bad". I have seen worse projects than this. Obviously I don't recommend it but if you are a fan of this director you must not miss it!

I'm a big fan of director Takashi Miike, despite the negative comments I liked "Sukiyaki Western Django". Some people think this isn't his best movie he's ever made, but overall (in my opinion) it wasn't bad!

For lovers of the genre there are many clichés of western movies: dusty saloons, alcohol, cloudy blue skies, badass men and women, monolithic characters, guns a go-go, ladies to satisfy their pleasure / prostitution, orphaned children, characters seeking revenge, etc.

The story involves a very basic plot (and even too trivial for some): a struggle between the Genji and Heike clans (also called the Whites and the Reds) to find a treasure. Also, there are a woman and a lone bandit who has to decide which side to be on. And other secondary characters will be shown continuing with the story, but almost everyone will kill each other.

My favorite character is Yoshitsune played by Iseya Yusuke. I think he was well built, despite being an asshole, he had an excellent stage presence. Ruriko was also an unforgettable character, a woman who gives these gangsters a hard time.

I recommend it absolutely but without high expectations since not everyone likes this genre ;;

Takashi Miike ..a name, a talent.
"First Love" it was pleasant! All the elements that you can easily find in a movie by this director are present: gore, prostitution, drugs, yakuza, gang battles, guns, severed heads, blood, crazy and wacky characters, hallucinations, etc...

I read some reviews that the ending was not very satisfying. I think it was okay. Leo after the bad experience he had and the news of the brain tumor (successively finds out he doesn't have it) has returned to live his boxer life as before, but now when he wins a tournament he can demonstrate his happiness. Monica, on the other hand, is trying to change and live her life for the better. She no longer takes drugs and lives in Leo's house. Their love story wasn't put as a plot priority but there are soft moments that make you understand that between the two protagonists a deeper feeling of a simple friendship will be born (Although, initially, they may look like an older brother protecting his little sister).

The most particular characters were 2 in my opinion and were more interesting than the leads:
1) KASE, my favorite character, a Yakuza villain who with the help of a corrupt policeman will try to sell drug bags and pocket half the money. He will be forced to run away and hide from his own people. His plan failed because of Leo and Monica. He was the funniest despite being a traitor and coward. I laughed in many of his scenes, even when you shouldn't laugh... I'm sorry xD
2) JULIE, a crazy girlfriend. After the death of her boyfriend, she starts chasing Kase to kill him and seek revenge. She frightens more than anyone else, honestly. You might remember Harley Quinn.

I think in the future I will watch it again for 1 or 2 times, but I don't think of classifying it among my favorites. But ..of course, I recommend it!

I had wanted to watch this movie for a long time (I had seen the trailer xD) because I was a lot curious about how this story could evolve and I finally succeeded!!!

It was interesting but some parts were very repetitive. Not the best movie I've ever seen, but it's not that bad either.

Good cast! Honestly, Yoshizawa Ryo (also) in this role showed how talented HE IS. I loved him!

NOOOOOOO WHY

Okay, I think this is the classic (beautiful) movie but with an absurd sadness. Not a perfect plot, but lovely nonetheless. Leaves you with a bittersweet feeling.

One thing I would definitely change? Miwa. I'm sorry say this, but her acting needs to improve. Instead, Kentaro sent me a lot of emotions. I loved his character. I suffered with him almost all the time, sad.

Music was okay! I recommend it but not with high expectations. It was a good story but once you discover the ending I don't think you'll want to watch it again.

I'm a huge fan of the anime, I didn't mind this adaptation!

It's nothing spectacular, but it's a good movie if it's seen with your family.

I thought this would be all cringe but it's cute and funny!!
And I loved Sano Hayato here <3

Great movie and story! Good cast! I loved Sakaguchi Kentaro and Nagano Mei here. Definitely worth watching, recommended!!

THIS IS SO HILARIOUS

It's a musical / Otaku style. Keep that in mind. 

For some, these characters might be really unbearable. I loved the cast, they were so good at playing their roles! If I had been in their characters I would have laughed many times, lol.

If you like it, one of my recommendation is Kyou Kara Ore wa!!

Every J-movie I watch (mostly romantic) is always a real find for me.
I was totally unaware of the plot so I didn't know what to expect ???
Honestly, I loved it but it was all SO fast. There have been no moments where Shima and Gen had a crush on each other and vice versa. They have always shown a feeling of mutual disapproval, even if at a certain point it was going to be understood that the story would end with their confession of love xD
The whole cast was great, good chemistry! I liked their roles: the protagonists' friendship-family relationship was enviable for anyone. I understand it might not be that 'nice' to watch for someone.. but I was not bored (honestly) so... yes, I recommend it!

Wasn't what I expected ??

This movie has a really strong main plot but it doesn't follow all the stories equally, in some scenes it was boring for me.

The plot follows 3 stories of teenagers with mostly love problems, while (for some) there are family problems in the background and a lot of self-doubt / insecurity. Although.. I wouldn't really consider it as a "romantic movie". The romantic feeling is present, but not always.

Good chemistry and great cast who were good at playing their role. I loved each couple's relationship, some parts were so cute!!

the last few minutes have been so intense and strong... but i found it boring, i skipped many parts.

is a well known j-movie... and it is evident that "High School Debut" deserves a rating below 6.. childish and poor acting.. but it was "fun" in some scenes, I think. I don't recommend it.

"My Paris is here."

This short movie is set in a beauty salon (hairdresser). The story is about family problems between father and son, after divorce and mother's death. But after many misunderstandings they finally manage to make peace and work together.

The acting is good. I recommend it if you want to see a japanese short movie!

Okay, but HOW handsome was Matsuzaka Tori in this role? I loved him, really. The whole cast was exceptional but Jin's character was the one that impressed me the most of all.
Some scenes were very slow but not boring, they represented this (real) story very well. The plot tells real facts that I always appreciate seeing, for example the initial conflict with the family was quite sad. I was happy to have seen a happy ending. Recommended ^^

First, I don't know if it's because of the actress (Aoi Wakana) or the role but couldn't stand Rio. Sano Hayato (Ginzo) is an actor I love, but he could have acted better here. I haven't seen much chemistry between the two main roles (forced acting).
The plot is nothing special: predictable and many cliches. The love triangles were so hidden, didn't even make the story more interesting.
Overall, it's just another teenager/fluff movie.
