This film proves that yakusho koji is the greatest japanese actor alive today. In the film he always wrecks his…
Well me too I was excited to watch them, only because I wasn't familiar with Yakusho Koji, I just thought "director of confession and my fave actors in the same movie in supporting roles, that has just got to be some thing worth it"

As for the awards, as I always say it's politics. I have loved Okada for a long time and have watched most of his works, and I saw how he grew in acting, but still doesn't compare to what we saw in that movie. I just think the "power that be" (whoever that it) is liking him these days, what with giving him lead in both a Taiga and a nationalistic movie.

Love your reviews! Making me want to watch it more!! I loved the use of flashbacks used in confession so I'm pretty sure I'll love this!!

I love me some Hidetoshi Nishijima so Genome Hazard is going on the list if it isn't there already. This movie…
I've seen the drama and it's basically the same as the movie, except the movie's mystery took the more extravagant route ;)

On Kageri Yuku Natsu Apr 11, 2015
Title Kageri Yuku Natsu Spoiler
Let me start by saying that I really love that dorama, but I have a couple of complaint :P

I just really hate the villains! I hate the way Japanese dramas seem to whitewash them. I'd try to understand the criminal once they're behind bars paying for their crimes and living through it. When they are out and free, well I'd care more about the well being of the victims.

I swear if I was the son, I would've destroyed Kaori's shrine and would've wanted to see her spirit bleed! And Muuto is no better! Silent and carrying on the criminal's wish makes you just the same. Argh horrible!

The other villains got their poetic justice, while their actual crime, though still big, is small than the main criminal's crime.

P.S. I think that Yoriko's real mother was a lot sweeter (not as much as the father, though, I guess!) and more…
Yup totally agree. I didn't want to say the nature of her mother's presence here but in reality her mother was sweet, and wanted to teach her daughter about emotions. The mother Yoriko sees is really just a self reflection, and she tells her what Yoriko thinks of herself and not what her mother really thought. I just think we tend to be harsher on ourselves than we actually deserves. I actually forgot to mention, I also love how much Yoriko cares about her dad. You're right he was probably her only friend, and that made them really close. A lot of times we can't follow her way of thinking, but accepts her it either way.

Review Maids
Wow your already done. One of my top motivator of watching this drama is the focus on the maids and those of the lower class of the era. Your review makes it seem this drama is perfect for me ;)

Yay so this one has been subtitled! I downloaded the first episode but was afraid it would take forever to be subbed as I'm used to with short series but I guess it's getting better ;) such a high rating must be good been looking forward to watching Sorimachi Takashi in something good.

Review Gunshi Kanbei
Oki finally got to read and as usual, excellent review. I have to agree I did find Kanbei was overly idolized in here, as opposed to the other characters who we saw their good side and their darker side. That doesn't mean he never took a heavy decision. You should watch more of Okada Junichi. His eariler works were mostly comedy but he was pretty good at it. He did grow overtime as an actor but he was always better than your usual JE idols.

Nice article! Haven't seen taiwanese drama for a while. This one seems interesting ;) I like the mystery genre and if it's well paced it can be a nice watch. My problem is the length though. Is each episode really 1h30?

Article J-Drama Food
Awesome article!! You really didn't leave anything! I love japanese food!! My fave is Okonomiyaki!! I feel in heaven when I eat it! You just brought me back to my trip there, one year ago.. I WANNA GO BACK!!

But you made me realize I missed out on a couple of food, but I did try my best to try most of it ;) Sushi there may be good, but japan has so much more to offer when it comes to food! Well not so much on dieting though :P

Glad you liked it :D I think if it wasn't for Ji Sung, this drama would've come and gone and hardly noticed by many including myself. With all the problems they had with casting, they really hit a jackpot with him being cast even though it was last minute.

Sounds good, but in keeping with the jdrama formula for this genre (and other genres involving romance), I bet…
It is but the leads do have chemistry
