i stood UP when kumi koda showed up

you know what you’re getting yourself into when you book a ticket to cliché city located in trope–y county. but before i gwt into that i will say . .. jesus CHRIST this episode was fast+paced. this was literally a feature+film lengthed episode & they were speeding to get us to here. i don’y think I’ve seen a drAMA rush this fast before beside tokusatsus but i am relatively new so. it mellows out during really key emotional scenea though & the second half is a lot better. i definitely do feel like they were scareds we might be bored out of our minds seeing this again & did as many outrageous things that you come to expect to keep us hooked. which ik guess I’ll talk about now 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ I’ll stat with my a*n*jell oshii YUUKI. because there’sss not much to say !he’s the silly comedic relief but he’s pleasantly hot & manly & that’s exactly my type !i hope they use him well 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ i like shu. there are these quirks about him that’re really ridicuously trite like him being a herbalist. he might as well have a fedora glued on. but fujigaya plays him well. he nails being a gentle lover ,gentle & attentive. i was surprised by how quick both of them found out. i ummm kind’ve don’t like this because like the whole point of a mulan plot is that you are being Loved no matter what but that’s the gay man part of me talking. I’m open to seeing them try to do something interesting with the secret not being a secret anymore. i jhabe an inkling shu is going to have a major flaw with how that preview is going. like i know shu isn’t going to get miko’s love but i would like to see a good fight ,BECAUSE I LIKE HIM BETTER 。but thAT’s besides the point. i do like him i like that he’s smart & thoughtful. really nice progression of the nice guy character type. 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ now renI’m actually really interested in his mysophobia[ which feels like an aversion to impurity given what I’ll talk about with miko next. ]it helps him seem more like a brat then a sadist. he’s okay when he’s not repeating the staple bad boy dialogue to make sure you hear him loud then clearly on why he’s upset. & does the reasons he say make any sense ?hell no !how on earth has miko been acting arrogant ?even when she was acting up when she got drunk he literally has no justification to say that like this is beyond misunderstanding he’s literally just lying. he’s the one that suffers most with being a cliché ,like reeally badly it’s terminal. tamamori is doing great though he does carry a lot of nuance to his performance 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ now ,i genuinely did not expect how religious this show would be. i knew the band name was angel but like . . . SHE’s A NUN ?DEVOTING HERSELF TO GOD FLOR HER FAMILY ?it’s literalyl SO much but it is extremely compelling. her pure naïveté stesm from this & i do like it & am interested to see where it goes. now i have not seen the koreaqn original so I’m just judging this drama in how it stacks up with others in the archetype. but there’s so many fascinating things they have going on when they’re just rocking & not shoe±horning in this banal scenario to entertain you. it’s literally so many tropes at once it’s exhausting to get through. i like miko but I’d like miko if she got to act with more thought & not convenience for what people are guaranteed to like. also i initially thought miss u would be the twins’ mother & possibly ren’s mother+figure too but wow they shot that down extremely quickly. which thank god but also likke,I’m going to have to watch this second episode to get what they plan to do now. her secret & motivation are both splayed out there already what is she going to do ?。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ i hope our president has some dimension to him. i was really intrigued by one of his last smiles. i don’t like flat antagonism. it feels annoying when things are just annoyingly unruly for no rhyming reason. i have a lot of hopes for this sholw to have more to it than fan_service. the music is like genuinely really incredible though. i do like this production. tere’s a lot being put into this show & i think there’s something. but they have to acxtually make something & not leave energy as potential.

Jealousy has begun

Navigating feelings is tough. I don't know if Qing Ye realizes why she feels the way she does, but I think she's more aware that Xing Wu who seem less aware of what was going on.

The Retelling of a Life

A nice new time travel mechanic. I prefer other dramas sprinkling the "future past" throughout the first episodes rather than a whole flashback. This solution isn't bad, but I would have liked some more action, especially because the flashbacks skip through time quite fast.

First episode leaves a very good impression

My first impression of this drama is very good! The world looks beautiful, and I especially loved the desert theme. For me, it associates with something rough, untamed, and quite unpredictable—something that’s hard to survive. Introducing our likely male lead, Fu Jiu, against that scenery looked absolutely perfect because he completely fits that vibe!Speaking of Fu Jiu, was he the same guy Chu Zhao saved from the whipping? It was hard to tell because of all the blood on his face in that scene, but I suspect he was. Either way, I think he's a keeper. He looked loyal to Chu Zhao, maybe even already had some feelings since that day when she saved him... However, Xiao Xun looked suspicious from the very beginning, and the way the whole backstory went down, it completely proved he couldn't be trusted. But the major star of this episode was definitely the female lead. Yes, she was naive and trusting, falling into Xiao Xun’s trap which led to her death, but all of that did a great job setting the stakes for her revenge against him. I definitely need a few more episodes to decide if I’ll stick with it, but man—revenge looks incredibly good on Chen Duling!

The wait was totally worth it!!

Gmmtv 2025 series have mostly disappointed me, so I started this with the lowest expectations, but the first scene was enough to immediately hook me. TayNew's chemistry on screen is next level. Loved it!! Can't wait for next episode.

Hope seems far away

There are lots of battles, but each time it looks like they might succeed, there are setbacks. Ji Ling returns, but it still seems hopeless because Jiu Ling/Wu Yi won't stay dead.

Li Lan Fang was happy to play mahjong

Qing Ye's co-conspirators in revitalizing the shop were Xing Wu and Liu Nian. She and Xing Wu were even playacting in front of Li Lan Fang to get her buy-in.
