When I heard that My Amazing Boyfriend was based off of My Love From A Distant Star, being a huge fan of the South Korean drama, I jumped right into My Amazing Boyfriend. Aside from the fact that the female lead is a bright and cheerful actress and the male lead is a more reserved and immortal/not human being, the two dramas do have significant differences that make them both unique.

To start off, I have never seen Kim Tae Hwan in drama land and it turns out that he's actually a model. Wouldn't be too surprised, considering his height and chiseled, nice face. He's become one of my latest heart throbs, but at last, there were a few flaws in his acting I couldn't overlook with him playing Xue Ling Xiao, the monster...

Such as his hair, he looks so much better with his hair styled back...the hair just didn't suit him. A bit of a waste of his handsome face to be honest. Since it is his debut in acting, he still has a lot to learn. Many times, I couldn't tell his true emotions and motives, such as if he really loved Tian Jing Zhi in the earlier episodes or if he was just using her. His acting was a bit bland and has a lot of room for improvement. I didn't know if they cast him specifically because he'd be playing a 500-year-old monster who probably has no emotions and doesn't express them very well but that would make sense. But comparing him to Kim Soo Hyun from My Love From A Distant Star, I'd definitely say that Kim Soo Hyun spectacularly pulled off his role better.

Wu Qian played Tian Jing Zhi well. She was energetic, cheerful, and funny. My favourite scenes of hers are when she got drunk and actually spoke what her heart really wanted to say. It was pretty touching and cute. There were just a few times I feel like Tian Jing Zhi messed up and I couldn't feel sorry for her...but she did end up developing as a character and maturing and understanding the ways of life near the end.

The side story/mystery of this drama was in my opinion, very predictable. (Because who else could the murderer really be??) I wasn't hooked by the mystery, but the cute romance. The execution of the mystery was still enjoyable though because it was the main cause of the cute rescue scenes, and the mystery reveals Xue Ling Xiao's backstory near the end of the drama.

Speaking of the ending, though it was a bit rushed and I seriously wish they make a second season! Overall, I did enjoy this drama a lot because I'm a huge sucker for cute romances and it didn't fail to satisfy my needs.

i really hate the idea of a cyborg in a drama, it kills the realistic part of the thing. BUT this one is awesome :D
there is chemistry, realistic plot, i laughed, cried, smiled, shouted out... this is the first web drama that i call a "drama" i haven't watched a drama like this as in 15 minutes per episode. highly recommended.
Although Kyuhyun's acting a bit Lacking BUT i am convinced and swayed my feelings.....

For me I'm very picky about what I watch but this is one of my ideal drama
Though the story is a bit confusing I still like it because I had fun because of the personalities and how they handle each personality.
The cast and acting was great! To be able to handle 7 types of personality is one of the evidence it was awesome.
I really like the OST's lyrics it really fits the story
This is one of my favorite drama

Well, I hate to write bad reviews about a drama, but I was really excited for this one and kinda left me disaponted.
I watched because Moon Chae Won was such a nice actress in "Innocent Man" that I was sure that was going to be a nice drama. However, I couldn't feel anything between the main leads, and I am really sorry about that. I found myself cheering for the second male lead the hole drama.
Soundtrack wasn't my thing, The story had everything to be good, but I think it was so much that it became confusing.
For me, the only strong point was the acting: the evil Min Sun Jae was awesome (looked really like a crazy person), the main leads had also a great acting.
If you are really curious, just watch it, some parts are enjoyable.

Before I get started in the review, I have just one thing to say! Yes, I did watch this show because Kaname Jun was a lead actor; yes he does appear in every episode; however, I suggest that you not let him become the ONE AND ONLY reason you are watching this drama.

The story is absolutely heart wrenching, sad, upsetting, thoughtful, unique, ingenious, kind, silly, happy, and filled with a lot of genuine honesty from a family, from friends, and from coworkers that you don't really see a lot of from this genre/type of drama. To be honest, I was a little hesitant in watching (even if Kaname Jun is acting as a main character) this series because it seemed more of a comedic take on family life while being a detective. But, once I started watching the first episode, I realized that I was wrong. This show sincerely and seriously takes on the aspect of being a working detective and head of the house hold; it shows, in true honesty, just how hard balancing two jobs (detective and father/husband) can really be. So, to me, this show is very much true to life.

Each actor played their character with respect, honesty, kindness, and sincerity; and I'm not saying you don't see that anymore, but even down to the child actors I felt that their skill and talent was close to perfect for each story and case that arrived. I'm very glad that I decided to watch this show and I definitely hope a lot more people give this drama series a chance!

Lol, well this is different, my first 9 across the board :P
I really enjoyed watching this drama ^^ Finished it in the span of 3 days. I've read that this drama was supposed to have 24 episodes and was reduced to 18 b/c of low ratings - which is unfortunate b/c I really liked this drama but at the same time I don't know what would have happened if they had 24 episodes, as I personally felt like the 18 they gave me was all it needed - they rounded up everything nicely and gave a very satisfying end :D Showing that this fight for peace and unification is not over but has just begun ^_^ A Great story with great actors!

Story: Starts off with our lead characters working as a unified North/South Team on the Korean Peninsula where scientists are gathered together to find an alternative energy source. The team is disrupted when a North Korean opposition to peace terrorizes the place. The team is then separated. A love story that crosses borders, with a South Korean Scientist and a North Korean Scientist who met 13yrs ago while studying together in Russia - they met again as this unified team. and their fight to stay together and love is tested time and time again. In the meantime Seo Myung Joon is also in the run for President! *This drama is mostly based around action, romance, political and military - but not really war (as there is no real war scenes)*.

Cast: Seo Myung Joon (Hwang Jeong Min) and Lim Jin Jae (Kim Jung Eun) are the driving force of this drama - more than anything else that happened or could happen in this drama I wanted these two love-birds together ^_^ But is love allowed to cross borders? Seo Myung Joon was definitely my favorite character in this drama, when others wanted him to lie or cheat, he refused every time. His heart wouldn't let him lie. He's a man who feels a great sense of responsibility for things he says or does. If he's made a promise he's determined to keep it - whether that be to the public, citizens, his country or his girl. He's a Scientist who ends up in the political race for President, He's says he'll run to become the President of a Unified Korea. Of course he also has another reason for running. Lim Jin Jae is a North Korean Scientist who has a very difficult life, what with her mother being a North Korean "revolutionary" leader, who is cruel enough to rid her own family. and her father who is a pro-peace-democratic North Korean. *I thought they did good casting her and her father as I thought they really did look alike (especially in the nose)*. She struggles to stay with her love and protect him when she's away from him, suffers through countless torture, while holding onto the dream of being with him again.
Then we have our "supporting" characters: Min Dong Ki (Lim Jin Jae's friend, &colleague who unfortunately stands on her mothers side. But he also cares for LJJ as more than a friend). Park Hye Jung (a reporter, who follows Seo Myung Joon around for news reports and ends up fancying him) *for which made me dislike her a bit - she was fine with me until she overstepped her bounds one day lol* The NIA/NIS? guy who I liked and hoped would eventually get together with the reporter girl ^^ Lim Jin Jae's dad who I thought was very wise. and countless other people. All together they made the drama wonderful.

Music: Absolutely beautiful ^_^ 'The Shadow of the Sun' by: MC. The Max, 'If We Were' by: Hwayobi, and another song that I can't find but it's lyrics go: "Don't Cry again. Don't fly away. Fly away..." It's sung in a deep-ish husky sounding male voice *I really wish I could find it b/c I really loved this one the most*

Re-watch Value: 9/10 I'd definitely re-watch this drama again - if only for the beautiful painful love story ^_^

I'd recommend this for any fans of 'Assembly' as I think they have a bit in common and or anyone who enjoys watching North/South dramas :)

This was my intro into Asian fiction and the responsible for my stay.

I loved everything about it.

Show Luo is amazing, Rainie Yang is amazing, Lee Wei is amazing.

The story is funny and cute and full of twists. Characters are lovable. There is no way in which you don't fall in love with them all. All kisses are rewatchable. You will have the urge to put all the songs from the OST in a playlist and keep on listening to them even years after having watched it.

This drama is a hit. Watch it now!

Personally, I loved this drama so much --but I know mine is NOT a popular opinion. My friends who've seen it find it kind of boring. They think I loved AB because of Jiro Wang, who is my ultimate bias. Actually, I started loving Jiro BECAUSE of this drama.

It can be a tad boring and frustrating at the beginning -frustrating because of the female character attitude -and dubbing :/-, but once the plot thickens, it makes it all worth-while.

The OST is genius, and some of the songs still strike a chord in my heart nowadays, after a year of watching it.

Time traveling to solve murder mystery is the one sentence story of this drama, liked the crowned prince. Park yun chun and ha ji min did their parts well. The crown prince while searching for the murderers of his crown princess ends up in bak ha's rooftop, 300 years later. An interesting love story line which keeps you on your toes, liked this drama. Even though at some point story is predictable, it is not dragging at all. Overall a good drama worth watching. Must say what an ending! aah!

I can't give any less than 10 to this drama. Powerful, is the word to describe it. Hopeless and full of hope at the same time. This drama kept me wanting more, even though I cried a lot. This drama made feel hope, wanting everything to change even though I had the feeling that it wouldn't happen. The cast is great. Of course some supporting roles are just meh, but the main roles (the love triangle, Emiko-sensei, Madame-sensei, all the teachers), those where perfect. Powerful scenes, powerful thoughts. We can learn so much humanity from this. From Kyouko. That was the greatest thing on this. The music, oh my god. Now I can't even ear the song without feeling sad.
No, this drama is not a comedy. Is not remotely funny. It's sad. It's beautiful. Makes you feel kindness, and makes you feel hate. Makes you think, more than anything. Because the story makes me so mad! Children, who have hopes and dreams live in a institution without knowing the world beside those walls. And if this sounds awful to start with, we can see that they don't care. Of course they are curious about what is over the walls. But they can be happy, they can smile, they can cry, and they can love. And we think "How can they be happy". Well, they are. And it's amazing to see how cute they all are. They are perfectly normal children, so kind, so human. Suddenly they are told that they are clones, created to be donors. This is awful. This is truly nonhuman. How can we create people so that they would live their entire life surrounded with death and sadness? Because they can't only donate. Before that they will take care of those who already start the donations. This is awful. This is truly, truly horrifying.
I think that this story has so much more than most of people can see. I could see so much beyond the love triangle. AlI of the situations that those 3 have lived were really life lessons. I can see the awful path that humanity is taking (I would not be surprised if this is actually going on somewhere in the world). I could see the moral dilemma and the gratitude that the normal people have for them. I could see that, even after a life knowing that you must do that, you can still be afraid, you can still feel love, you can still scream for help. I could see Kyouko growing up with a tender heart, full of intelligence and kindness. Because in all the bad times she had a positive message to take. She was a great person, so human, so gentle. Because even though you wish to kill Miwa, and you think she was an awful person... Kyouko can see behind that, and made her really happy. You know the movie "The Pursuit of Happyness"? This drama is like that: Everytime you think they will finally be happy... Something breakes your heart a little more.
Manami was more than we knew. She was great character, I would love to see some more episodes with her and the rebels but... This drama is not about it. This is not a happy drama. They don't know what is a happy end.
About the rewatch value... I think that this drama has so much details that we can't see for the first time. I think I will totally watch it again. It's worth it. But not just now.

It's not and easy drama to watch. It's not to "only pass some time" and "just get my mind of my work". Makes you think a lot, feel a lot. It's not only a love story. It's the love story of people who are doomed, and, like any other human, fight with themselves over a doomed life.

I totally recommend it. Hope you enjoy it! :)

One of the best series I've watched and it tackles about important and realistic topic. The plot, and the cinematography is remarkable and so are the casts. It shows and teaches us how to love a friend, a family member, and a lover unconditionally. This is definitely worth watching over and over again.

I just finished this drama and now I don't know what to do with my life. This is one of THE best dramas I've seen in a long time. It was a drama that kept me hooked for all 20 episodes; none of the episodes felt like "filler" episodes or just to make the drama last for a certain number of episodes. I don't really write too many reviews, but I just have to let everyone know that YOU WILL NOT REGRET WATCHING THIS. I was on the edge of my seat for much of the time. Ji Chang Wook and Park Min Young had such good chemistry as a couple. I never thought I'd go so crazy just to see them hold hands! Music was great, too, and really the entire cast did an excellent job. 10 STARS!!
