Late for a meeting, Kotoko was running along the corridor in school and bumped into Naoki, their lips meeting. Naoki showed his disgust, but Kotoko started to idolise him, who was good at everything from studies to sports. When Kotoko's house burned down, her father's good friend Machiko invited them to move in with her family. It was then that Kotoko realised Naoki was the elder son of Machiko, who took up read morethe role of a fairy-godmother to bring the two together...despite the fact that Naoki was disgusted. Not discouraged, the clumsy and not-so-bright Kotoko started to do everything that would change her impression on him. Gradually, the icy-cold Naoki who disliked girls started to feel for Kotoko...

1-The reason i watched this : i watched it because it's the adaptation of one of my favorite stories "Itazura na kiss", i'm a huge fan and i watched this drama right after finishing the anime, it was the first drama adaptation that i've watched before "Playfull kiss" and "It started with a kiss".

2-Storyline/plot : They even changed the original manga story and didn't follow it plus it was short that read more i couldn't get the time to fully focus on it.

3-Acting/Cast : the female lead was totally an unforgivable choice, she ruined Kotoko's image in my mind for a while, she's so annoying that i end up not feeling sorry for her when Naoki treats her bad. The rest of the cast wasn't bad and i believe that the lead male was good.

4-Music : Fair enough

5-Rewatch value : people who liked it will rewatch others won't: it's as simple as that.

6-The ending : It was kind of rushed; it happened so quickly but it's not a bad ending.

7-Overall: I was kind of disappointed in this drama adaptation, it doesn't suit the huge size of Itazura na kiss. I believe that out of the 3 other dramas adaptations the japanese version was the worst yet seing Itazura na kiss's story all over again totally worth watching so no regrets.

I originally began watching this show, but dropped it for awhile due to lack of interest by episode 4. Recently picked it back up after having seen the other adaptations of the series, and still didn't find it very interesting. Maybe it was because I'd seen the others completely first, but I felt a lack of effort for the story. The lead actress was a little over the top, though I know read more her character is supposed to be a little... eccentric...hyper... whatever you'd like to term it as. Takashi Kashiwabara, the main lead of Naoki, did well and really carried the majority of the series in my opinion. I won't rewatch this show very often, if at all, because the female lead annoyed me too much. I don't like giving a bad review, but... this was a dissappointment.

I know it's older than the others recommended, but it's really the one that started them all. Like all of the adaptations, the plot strays a little from the source material.

They're based on the same manga ,,Itazura na kiss", so they both have the same plot, except that ,,Kiss me" is Thai and ,,Itazura na kiss" is Japanese :)

I watched this couple of years ago. It was a nightmare. Never seen a girl like Kokoto . Following a guy like a puppy. My first & last Japanese drama. Thanks to this drama i never want to watch any J dramas

Don't base every J-drama on this one. There's some pretty good ones out there where the girl doesn't follow the guy around like a puppy. It would be awesome if you gave J-dramas another chance

I agree with AriRiv, Why would you judge an entire genre of something based on ONE thing you saw. That's ridiculous! There are a ton of great Jdramas with strong female leads, other genres such as mystery and crime, and other great actors!

Japan cant do romcoms for the life of them but if you're willing to explore other genres I highly suggest Hours Off My Life and Kamisama Mou Sukoshi Dake and Mother if you're looking for good plotlines and deep, emotional characters. For crime (which Japan seems to have A LOT of) I'd suggest Siren or Subete ga F ni Naru where the female leads can either take care of themselves or have strong character development. I'd also suggest the Japanese Liar Game. Although the lead female is kinda pitiful in the beginning, she is able to grow to take care of herself and learn the art of.. basically conning people.. Because I personally gravitate more toward romantic dramas or sweet love stories, I'd suggest Nobuta Wa Produce. This is a high school drama (Japan also has a shitton of these) about a socially awkward and insecure teenager. She's not strong or competent but with the help of 2 of her male classmates, she begins to feel loved and cared for as well as come out of her shell. This has a lot of character development and has my all-time favorite drama character. He's weird, bizarre but SO FRIKKIN CUTE!! From 5 to 9 is another cute romcom. The female lead is strong, opinionated and can take care of herself. Last Cinderella isn't exactly what it sounds like but does have the woman-searching-for-a-man premise. Despite that, she is a single working woman who takes pride in her job and can fend for herself. She is very self-sufficient and believes in herself. All these dramas are ones I personally enjoy but you may have a different taste. My point is that they're not all the same. Itazura Na Kiss is a remake of a manga. It's a high school romance and isn't supposed to be taken seriously but more of a romance that shows that persuasion and persistence pays off. it's obviously not like this in real life but it's a drama.. don't take it seriously. Truthfully I haven't seen this version of this story but I've seen pretty much all the other versions. Although Kotoko is degrading to females, it is a cute love story.

I enjoyed this comedy. The character of kotoko is one, i wouldn't be surprised if some people found her annoying. But I loved her energy. episode 8 is probably the best and is very funny.

this version's kotoko is very's not that she's ugly or what. but she is just too much. it's amazing how naoki could accept her. love is really a miracle o____o

good thing that all of the remakes are hundreds times better than this, especially the latest Japanese remake.

Is this the drama that kickstarted the asian TV revolution? Although looking back, it may seem the worst piece of sh*t, I think it gave the foothold for Korea/China/Japan/Taiwan to start branching out to the awesomeness we have today.

TBH started this because of Kassy (the lead actor), and I think he did a pretty good job as Irie. I agree though it could get a bit annoying esp with Kotoko around, but if you went back to the original sources, you'll find that she's not exactly a peaceful character in the first place. So I justified the annoying-ness of this jdrama with that. This is the only version I was able to sit through without wanting to throwing something since it deviated from the original story, so it all comes down to personal taste I guess.

I watched this cuz I've watched the korean and taiwanese(my fav) versions and I wanted to see how this one was portrayed. And it was okay. I didn't dislike it and it had funny moments. I can't wait to see the remake and how it'll compare. I feel like I know the story so well after watching so many versions and the anime lol.
