The remake started out good but eventually it just felt like a cheaper version of GTO. The original was a masterpiece and this one was just average. The new Onizuka was just not even comparable to the original. The side cast is what made this interesting at first, but eventually even they couldn't pull off the show for me. I wouldn't say that it was bad, but it just wasn't that great read more IMO. I'd say that if you've already seen the old one then don't bother watching this one unless you really really want to. And if you have not seen the old one then watch the old one instead of this one.

I loved this drama. I hadn't seen the original live action or read the manga so I was new to the story. I thought the plot was amazing, but after watching this I went onto watch the older version and can see why people say its better. However I prefer this version because it is much more modern and more violent.
I thought the cast were really good- at lot of actors read more I had never seen in anything before- it was nice to see Kawaguchi Haruna in something other than Ouran. Shirahama Aran was brilliant and was the best out of the young actors in my opinion. Sometimes I thought it could have been acted better, but overall it was good.
The music was fine, the problem I have with music in most dramas is that sometimes they pick music that doesn't fit with the scene and ruins it for me, but GTO didn't have that!
I've already watched this twice and have just brought the DVD so I think its safe to say its now one of my favourites!

Both have Yamamoto Yusuke and Nishiuchi Mariya in it, except that they are lovers in Yamada and the Seven Witches.

Both are about school life, ragging, family problem and other school problem of student. difference is in GTO a male lead a teacher try to solve and in 35 sai no Koukousei a female lead a student try to solve

I loooooved it. I was gonna give it a 10/10 but it got a bit weaker near the end when the plot started changing into something else. Gonna watch the sequels!

The English Subs available is just so very very bad that many got lost in translation. It actually meant Onizuka's German SUPLEX power.

I hate choosing between the original and a re-make... Remakes tend to be worse but it's gotten a really good score too! Help.. Maybe I should just watch both?

Onizuka is the kind of teacher I want to be. Someone that can reach out to his students and help them become successful in life.

When I first saw Ryuji, I was like "Ha! He looks like a super hot version of Shirota Yu(not that he wasn't already good-looking)... wait a minute... It IS Shirota Yu!" How in the world did he get so hot? Forget the ugly stick, this boy got beat by the Stud Stick for a decade straight. My goodness. Very impressive, sir. *Slow clapping* *Drooling* \(*o*)/

I really loved this drama. I'm a sucker for these good life lessons and such. Some parts really hit home. And Onizuka is a riot haha :)

After watching the original GTO drama, anime and read most of the manga and being extremely attached to the series, I can't say this remake did the series justice. However not a bad attempt and had some nice touches to it, to make it more modern and relevant!

I'd really like to see a second season of this show.

Make it a slight bit grittier like the 98 version and not so episodic and I think you got gold on your hands.

I started watching it thinking it could never live up the original...and it doesn't, it lives a life of its own! It's true it didn't make me cry as much as the old one, but it made me laugh a lot more! As a big GTO fan, I loved it!
