If someone says that they watch a lot of K-dramas or that they are a k-drama fan, which dramas do you expect them to have seen?

Basically I'm looking for a list of dramas that you believe to be the pillars in k-drama land. Whether terrible dramas or amazing ones, a list of dramas that you think are the essential building blocks for the k-drama genre.

Oh, I know all about those "foundation" dramas. xD So many I've seen, so many I haven't haha. I think there should be like a beginner's guide to navigating through Kdrama. No matter your taste, people should see the older ones. Kdrama 101 or something lol. I mean, so many dramas now are remakes or follow a similar storyline or there's a parody etc...I wonder how people watch these without knowing the "basics". (My sister hasn't seen BOF even though we both started kdramas way back when that was basically the only thing showing :P)

Anyways here's my list! (I've seen the bold ones)

Modern Dramas:
-Boys Over Flowers
-Playful Kiss

-Jewel in the Palace
-Princess' Man
-Iljimae
-Gu Family Book
-Moon Embracing the Sun

Newer ones that are now considered:
-Fated to Love You (K-version)
-You Who Came from the Stars
-Healer
-Reply series (94/97/88)
-Kill Me, Heal Me
-She Was Pretty
In bold : those you nead in order to understand something in other dramas.

Those I didn't watch :
Reply - I read about it a lot on this forum but I can't bring myself to start one.
Winter Sonata - I actually never watched that one but I heard about it a lot in other dramas.

Modern time :
City Hunter - "Revenge heroe in modern time" genre, plus supposedly adapted from the manga of the same name (this was a huge scam even though the drama was great)

Coffee Prince - For gender-bender freaks (I'm one of them.), this is THE reference. Although I personally think this one is already old-fashioned.

Full House - I think this was my first kdrama, and it is the same for most people who started watching kdrama around 2004. When it aired, it was kind of the representative of 2 drama genres : "living under the same roof" and "in love with a celebrity". But now, it has grown a bit old-fashioned.

Goong - Just like Full House, this is a famous manwha adaptation.

Healer - Hidden identity genre with action.

I Hear Your Voice - Great plot, great music, noona romance and mind-reading

Kill Me, Heal Me - Romantic comedy about a psychological disease (DID).

You Who Came From the Stars - Romantic comedy with an alien!

Period dramas :
Bridal Mask - Revenge genre but during the japanese occupation which made it quite unique.

Hong Gil Dong - Just like Winter Sonata, you get some references to it in other dramas from time to time. This is a period drama about a Robin Hood type heroe.

Iljimae - Just like Hong Gil Dong.

Jumong - About the founder of Joseon

Queen Seon Deok - For many people, this is the best saeguk ever. A LOT of references to Mishil, the evil character, in other dramas.

Sungkyunkwan Scandal - a period drama AND a romantic comedy at the same time, that's the only one I know.

The Painter of the Wind - This beautiful period drama won numerous awards. Plus, you get to learn a lot about the importance of royal painters.
Oh, wow, that's interesting. Although I think it quite differs from person to person what dramas they watched so far, which year they started etc.
Everytime I read something about starting kdramas and someone wants to know with which one he/she should start, many people suggest Boys over Flowers. Seriously it almost cames up everytime. But I never watched it. Although it may have been aired just one or two years just before I started watching kdramas. I never had the urge to watch it. Maybe because I'm already too much into dramaland and I heard it's full of clichés. Plus their hair! (looking at those pictures...)

Okay, well. So, as me I would say, dramas you really should have watched are:

You're beautiful
The Greatest Love
The Princess' Man
The Moon That Embraces The Sun
Bridal Mask
Stars Falling From The Sky
