I prefer movie bc I don't have much time to watch drama, but you could still recommend drama
The less popular movies/drama that are actually great.
'Beautiful' not necessarily limited to heart warming, just something really great.
Brief description on why it's great would be really helpful *no spoilers pls :)
for movie, i usually watch western soo i dont know any if you want the asian one, but:
Letters to juliet: It is about a girl finding a letter that should have been sent 20 years ago, but got stuck, and the girl trying to find the letter receiver (i dont know, i just love the plot and it's not ordinary, and it's shoot in italy)
we bought a zoo:  i think this one is an underrated movie. I REALLLYY love this one because i just love family movie, and this one is not ordinary too and based on true story, it is about a family who lost their mother and buy a zoo

actually thats all that i can think of
oh by the way, here's some thai movies that I think has a great plot:
Teachers diary
May Who
Hello Stranger
i know, they arent underrated but if you havent watch it, go watch it!

ps: give me some suggestion too if you have a recommendation for underrated movie! thankyou
^^ Ohh I love 'Letters to Juliet' as well..Also my sister watched 'Teacher's Diary' and she liked it too :)

I'd recommend these movies that I find kinda special...

Like Father, Like Son --->This is a family related movie. It feels so realistic and it kinda makes you still think about what you saw after you're done watching the film.
Orange ---> Another one of my favourite movies. I thought this would be like a typical shoju romance movie...but this was quite different and more serious.
Train to Busan ---> It's a zombie movie I know...but it was very touching and I loved it!
Bunny Drop ---> This is a lovely, heartwarming family related movie...and very cute!
The Crucible ---> This is based on a true story and it's quite disturbing and distressing to watch...but it was worth watching.
How to Steal a Dog ---> this was so cute and also funny. and definitely heartwarming and a family friendly movie to watch. :)
Hear Me ---> most of this movie was in sign language but it wasn't boring at all! :)
Bangkok Traffic Love Story ---> This was very funny, cute and romantic...I'd highly recommend it if you like rom-coms
All About My Wife

I hope you enjoy watching them! :)

Also if you don't mind English movie recommendations...

A Street Cat Named Bob ---> This is a lovely movie and it's a true story. This too is about a friendship between a man and a cat. :)
The Age of Adaline

Thanks. I've actually seen all of your recommendation haha.
My MAL list is not updated on what I've seen, sorry bout that.
I'd highly recommend Koe no Katachi (anime), but the manga was more 'intense' It includes a deaf girl, bullying, being an outcast, suicidal thoughts, and redemption. The manga could be finished in a day, bc each chapter has only like 22 pages? If I remember it correctly
Other great anime movies: Spirited Away (one of my favorite), Howl's Moving Castle

IzzyDramaLover
Woah! Thanks big time for the descriptions!! :D I've actually used to read the Orange manga.
I've seen most of what you've recommended :) Like Father, Like Son sounds great
The Crucible - I'm still mentally preparing myself for it.

I'm actually not much into romance or 'families',
but I know there are great ones out there so I wouldn't mind such recommendation :)

Themes such as lost in life, redemption, self-discovery, improving self, looking for jobs, positive main lead despite hardships, will be great.
I enjoy action/thriller/psych movies as well, movies that makes me think.
I also enjoy movies w/ funn/really smart characters yet still punch your emotion during sad scenes
(e.g. The Girl Who Leapt through time, I like the anime version better than live-action)
Movies that's not pure 'sad/mellow', I appreciate movies that gives off diff feelings, but great story is a must
Since this drama just recently ended... I'd like to recommend Circle. Its ratings in Korea are painfully average and it deserved so much more. http://mydramalist.com/22671-circle

This isn't a perfect drama by all means, but the story is still very beautiful and well-crafted. It posed a lot of philosophical questions and would challenge your thinking through every episode. It's ultimately a story about two brothers and their deep love and care for one another.

There are 2 timelines, one in 2017 and the other in 2037, but this is not a time travel/time slip drama. Each episode is told in 2 parts for each timeline. Good acting from the cast, most especially the main leads.

If you will ever consider this drama, avoid the spoilers at all costs!

WOW WOW WOW!!! I think I'd absolutely love this!!! If you have more, don't be shy recommending those haha
How do you also keep updated on new dramas? Do you keep updates on Kdramas only, or also dramas from other countries?
@Doubtly Yay! I hope you'll enjoy it~ There are only 12 episodes so it's not too long. I mainly watched this drama because I am a huge fan of the lead actor, Yeo Jingoo.

I'd also like to recommend another movie of his that flopped in the box office, Shoot Me in the Heart - http://mydramalist.com/10354-shoot-my-heart

Among the themes you mentioned, this one touches on being lost in life, self-discovery, improving self, and positive main lead despite hardships.. I don't want to delve into details but it's basically a movie about two youths who get stuck in what seems to be a helpless place but find hope and friendship in one another. This one has an uplifting and positive message. :)

I'm mostly watching Korean dramas and movies these days as I'm attempting to brush up on my hangul. I get updated on the latest korean dramas through dramabeans. :D
