Non stop action!

This is the movie for you who like over the top-non stop action. Don't think too much and just enjoy the ride.
Want a solid story? Forget that, Carter is more like "The Raid" - its truly ALL about the action.

Carter has some of the craziest action scenes ever made and the camera work is absolutely insane. I was blown away. I wonder how the heck they even filmed many of the scenes, they must be wizards or something. The CG was obvious at times but it still didn't look cheap, and remember this isn't a 200 million dollar Hollywood production.

I can see it becoming the next Korean production everyone talks about globally, that's how iconic i found this movie to be. Good job and congratulations to everyone involved!

(⚠️ It has full frontal nudity and brutal throat stabbing etc)

9/10 from me, a must watch if you like intense over the top stupid fun non stop action!

Good

Knowing both sides of a story is important, and if you're open-minded, you'll definitely adore and enjoy the movie. There isn't any revisionism in the film, and some people seem willing to feed negativity, which is unhealthy. I know u guys didn't even try to watch the movie so I noticed that some people here are mired in diluted ignorance?.

A Movie that teaches all about youth, first love, heart break & life...Watch it

I absolutely love watching youth movies/drams cause they teach you so much about life and to have realistic expectations from it. This did just that.

The story was amazing and I really loved the cast. The acting, characters, plot were all outstanding. I really loved the friendship between the Male lead and the support characters, its something we all dream about, about our friends being with us till the end of it no matter what.

The ending honestly killed me and though I expected it to end this way I still had tears in my eyes by the end of it. Lets just say I'm a sucker for happy endings and against knowing better hoped for it till the end credits started.

I totally enjoyed this movie and would definitely recommend it.

Action or fantasy?

Let me start this off by saying that I love both action and fantasy movies. However, to me this movie was just a series of gory and extremely unrealistic action scenes strung together by a thin story line. It seemed more like I was watching a game than a movie at times.

At one point I honestly wondered what the genre was.

It starts of with a lot of blood. Followed by loads of falls and jumps out of windows, numerous fights on the road and a lot of zombie like infected people.

Also, the camera work was brilliant at some point but nauseating most of the time.

The acting was ok and I did like the overall vibe of the movie, the quality was there but it just didn't come to fruition.

All in all it's fine to watch it without having to use your brain and if you love action packed movies. Just don't expect an elaborate story or characters with a lot of depth.

Brace Your Flight to Avert Catastrophe

Personal Note before Review: I have reassembled my thoughts before pouring mine out due to being influenced to look at letterboxd's reviews (before the official release, because they watch pre-screen from Cannes Award last year), then my mind goes screwed all over then messed all up like *rant-rage mode activated* so I prefer to opinize mine rather than hearing their thoughts instead

TL;DR: What if you already plan to take a vacation abroad, but when it comes to an emergency situation; you've come unprepared beforehand? What if you have zero knowledge of what's going on up there, but decide to side with the fault before reading the room? That's basically what happened during this watch of its announcement theme. You'll never know what's up or below, sky or land, just to resolve a calamity

I have come up with its pros and cons, but most cons are from their perspectives and my assumptions (which doesn't mean that's their overall thoughts. It's just a theory)

PROS:

It's Not That You Instead of Delving into This Story But Must IMMERSE Their Experience
There is a reason why I should encourage you to use the upgrade cinema feature (4DX or Screen X if you afford it): this one. As you can see from all trailers, you need to experience how it feels to fly through the horizon, while encountering the crisis itself. It slowly starts from the usual atmosphere on land, then before departure, then all... all combined into one while knowing their solving to each problem

Every Main Lead Nailed Their Tasks. Period
Nothing goes unresolved in this film. They made a great job settling down every precise detail of its roots. From solving cases to ongoing aviation crisis, which is why I really love this development so much that I want to rewatch it all over again. I have no queasy feeling for this film for the first time I ever had, which is funny coming from myself, who dislike marathons such mediums

It Will Leave You Emotional Depending on The Circumstances
General to personal, for some main leads' stories. Leaves you wondering why, but you found the answer throughout the film. Can't say it's unpredictable, but all I can say is unexpected

A Reality-Check Eventhough It's Fiction
But I believe this director collect/researched all investigation cases, especially major ones into this remarkable movie. Sad to say that this is not from the true event, but he leaves wonderful, inspirational traces behind, even after his previous creations. Salute

Now, to its CONS:

Longer Movie Duration
I realized that some of the watchers I observed during that, are dozing off; and bigger 'alarms' (you'll see why) woke them up. I don't think this one is a part of the weakness for this film because I find it overall enthusiastic (yet also wondering how some can endure watching not instead of 2+ hours, even from web movies like 4+ or maximum 8 hours?)

Political Issues Included, Hence Biased Favor of Its Propaganda
Yes.... this one, is pretty much undeniable, and I see the pattern there. I mean, not willing to take any risks from certain countries, hence being one-sided and all. I don't want to be specific on which country, but you'll see, again, why

Regardless of any endings they made: happy, sad, or open-endings, I'd still rate this 10 anyways, because they have portrayed everything beautifully, and made it a Hollywood-esque level of VFX, cinematography... even its storyline, too. I've been more than glad despite its 2-year delay, it's the most worth watching; therefore the best Korean movie I ever watched so far

the initial idea was good, but after watching, feels more like a miss then a hit. (if i'm not wrong, this among the longer movies that STRONGBERRY has produced and yet it feels unfinished. while the shorter ones, weren't as plot-holey for want of a better word).

did Mrs. Kim know Bum Soo was gay? was that why she contracted Hyun Woo to fan-boy over him? not a female?!? and if that was meant to be some kind of weird motivation tactic, WTF she treat him like garbage? Hyun Woo was the good cop, while she was the bad?!?
1. there's no logic in spending money on a guy that u don't believe in.
2. not to mention, ur distracting him with another guy and then getting mad, he got distracted?!?
3. why invest so much on someone, u don't even have a contract with?!? and if all this wasn't enough, get Hyun Woo was desperate for money (why idk). but he took on a job that became more then a job, then he developed genuine feelings - ok - fine - understandable. but Why not come clean? Why hang out in the same place where u might encounter the person that hired u in the 1st place, that might get u caught and then(!) WHY run, and ghost someone u care for???
but the biggest WTF to date, is Bum Soo giving up everything for a guy that ghosted him with no explanation and they end up together - what i miss - why there no continuity from one scene to the next - no logic - yeah i can guess. but there things u leave to the audience's imagination and then there r times it feels like a copout - so yeah this a miss IMHO

this plot wasn't that complex and yet somehow the end product is complicated - or a mess. pity

What we do for love

The Wedding Banquet showed what people will do for love--love for lovers, love for tradition, and love for family. The movie's title comes from a raucous and drunken wedding banquet that seemed to signal the beginning of a couple's life together. Problem was, the couple being celebrated were a sham and the real love was between a gay couple trapped in a show for one man's traditional parents from Taiwan.

Wai Tung and Simon had been lovers living together happily for five years in America. Wai Tung lived a busy, upwardly mobile lifestyle by all appearances assimilated into American life. Meanwhile back in Taiwan, his parents were ready for him to be married and producing grandchildren unaware he was gay. So determined were they that they set him up in an expensive matchmaking service. Simon decided Wai Tung should marry Wai's tenant, Wei Wei, a broke artist without a green card, to help her out and get Wai's parents off his back. The ruse worked well enough that Wai Tung's parents decided to come to America for the wedding. Cue the merry marriage high-jinks and misunderstandings.

The Wedding Banquet could have veered off into slapstick comedy or morose melodrama but Ang Lee managed to walk a fine line as Wai Tung confronted his life with Simon and the expectations of his family. The comedy arose more out of character and the situations these people found themselves in rather than random sight gags much to my relief. Wai Tung loved Simon and his parents and didn't want to disappoint either. He also felt responsible for Wei Wei who was obviously in love with him. Simon also felt real as he became the odd man out while the farce took place in his home. And Wei Wei ended up facing the emotional consequences for marrying a man who loved another man. Both she and Simon came to love Wai Tung's parents. Throw in the parents with their own complicated emotions and what could have been a trite story turned meaningful and heartfelt.

The actors were all quite capable, with Gua Ah Lei giving a truly complex performance as a mother wanting her son to be happy, preferably within the confines of their traditions. Winston Chao and Mitchell Lichtenstein brought their characters to life as they bickered, loved, and fought to be together.

1993 was a different time than today. In most states gay couples were not readily accepted and marriage was out of the question. New York, for the most part, was more open-minded. This movie, without resorting to being preachy or patronizing, showed a loving gay couple working through their problems, albeit with some hilarious and heartbreaking moments. The relationship felt real and consequential. It was also a time when cell phones were as big as WWII walkie-talkies and were used for the sole purpose of a phone and to make the occasional call---minutes were expensive!

Made for only $750,000 Ang Lee poured more heart than money into this film. Even with a few rom-com contrivances, I found myself rooting for all of these people. I desperately wanted them to have their happily-ever-afters. The Wedding Banquet wasn't perfect, but it was perfectly funny and heartwarming and romantic. In the end, everyone learned a little more about love and acceptance even when they didn't come in the package that was expected.

Dreams are meant to be fulfilled!

Rebelling against loved ones and age itself, a group of 17 elderly motorcycle riders (average age 81) banded together to drive the 1178km / 732 miles around the outer edge of Taiwan in thirteen days. Short on sentiment but long on spirit, Go Grandriders was an engaging documentary of fulfilling one's dreams.

The Grandriders included retired military, civil servants, policemen, a pastor, and a housewife (who had to pass her driver's exam to join). They were all in average shape for octogenarians with a fair percentage suffering from hypertension, diabetes, or cancer. They all had their own reasons for taking the trek, most often boiling down to---if not now...when? Despite family members and loved ones trying to dissuade them, they stayed the course to show that just because they were old didn't mean they wanted a life without something to do and look forward to and those things were worth the risk.

The Hongdad Senior Citizens Welfare Foundation provided resources for the trip, including a bus for riders to rest on when they needed to, medical assistance and providing places to stay along the way. As the director said, in our 20's and 30's people are marrying and raising families. When people finally have time to do the things they want they are told not to leaving many elderly alone and lacking purpose. The documentary showed how people find that life isn't much fun being left alone without something to look forward to and this trip was the spark and rejuvenator some needed.

Taiwan's roads provided challenging situations with dangerous traffic, falling rocks and washed out roads from a previous typhoon. Police escorts joined them on various legs of the journey to give a measure of safety.

Grandriders didn't delve into sentimentality when allowing the men and woman of the trip to talk about their lives and reasons for undertaking the difficult journey. Men on different sides of different wars shared a moment of peace and unity as soldiers. A kamikaze trainer's tale of training young men to die was particularly moving as was a husband's story of taking his wife for "one more ride, honey" with her picture on his handlebars.

The shots of riders on harrowing roads could become monotonous, broken up by shots of sunsets on the water or mountains. Trips to nursing homes with the bikers sharing cheer with the residents or children on the sides of the road cheering them on were heartwarming.

Go Grandriders could have benefited from a more deft hand with the photography and traveling shots so that we could experience the ride along with them more. The heart of the of the story though came from the courageous and adventurous senior citizens reminding us that they were still capable and energetic and that one's dreams give us motivation and reason for living at any age.

a story about love, friendship, lost and acceptance.

this is the one movie if you have a child and wants to adopt a pet. no matter what pet, this one is a good reference. teach them how to love, be responsible and also about how to deal with losing the loved one.

love is universal, across humans and animals, no age boundaries friendship.

in this movie, it has good scene, soundtrack, also good instruments too. slow paced story line yet very touching.

a good family movie for the weekend with your children or the love one.

two hours peaceful movie, a bit sad, but it teach us many things to overcome.

Overrated

The movie is overrated. The scenes were too weak and does not excite people to continue watching. storytelling is too shallow. Although I appreciate the effort in putting up a film, I felt the lack of substance in the scripts. Cesar Montano and Ella Cruz is okay. I felt Ruffa still has a long way to go in acting. If they could focus on one main storyline, that would have been slightly better. Also, If they could highlight some of the scenes and make it look like it’s not rushed, that would be better as well. I felt like I watched an amateur movie. Surprising that there are a lot of people who still watch this. Hence, my headline of being overrated. Overall, I am not satisfied with the movie production, cinematography and storyline. It’s not the actors’ fault that the story is too shallow.

Don't watch this shitty movie! It should not considered as a film, because films are art of expression. Art should provoke and disturb, but it should not distort facts and history.

I feel sorry to my fellow Filipinos, the great history where we fight for democracy and end the dictatorship has been ruined just because of being a fanatic to politicians. They just "moved on" for that tragic experience of our ancestors. But the family who made the country worse become now their 'hero.'

One more thing, this whole film is from a rude director, that should not be considered director in the first place.

Pustahan, may tatahol....

Awesome

I loved this movie! It jumps right into the main characters live and his story, it keeps you interested and engaged. There were funny parts and though the character growth was fast paced because this was a movie it was well done. The hollow (bad spirits) were so well detailed and a combination of interesting and scary. I really enjoyed it and was sad it ended so soon. I know absolutely nothing about the anime Bleach, so this definitely makes me want to dive into it. I highly recommend for action movie night!

Gigantic suspense through skies and clouds

The scale of this movie is so gigantic you wouldn't be able to imagine how they were able to build a story development in such an impressive way. The suspense just keeps on rising like climbing through skies and clouds, accompanied by best of class soundtrack that heightens every stakes. The airborne action scenes are of course groundbreaking, but what's more surprising is the depth of its story is so powerful, it's equipped with a lot of factors on a global level, especially in the latter half of the movie it puts human principles into test, spanning across every possible behaviors when they're pushed to their limits. Given its constructive ending, even how ugly humanity is sometimes, they're suggesting a glimpse of hope that we all deserve during a catastrophic situation we faced everyday.

Feel good with a right ending

Good story.

STORY - nice story about a lawyer that is killed by mistake in heaven and, to return to her rightful place, has to take the place of the mother and wife in a family. She has to endure a completely different life, but in the end, she understands that love and be loved is the best thing she can have.

ACTING - good. All is done with competence

MUSIC - Did not pay attention to the OST

REWATCH - if I stumble with this I can watch it again. However, it will not be in my rewatch list!

OVERALL - good story. If you like light feel good and a little comedy this is good to watch. The ending is good, because I have in my mind the follow up...
