maybe it's me, but this ep was kinda tame…

maybe it's me, but this ep was kinda tame in comparison to the previous one, it was kinda boring & found myself pausing multiple times until i finished it. Niran didn't seem like he was hurting for money - but what do i know, maybe he is - given what Fei said, maybe he was kicked out of the family - time will tell. but him not destroying the vessel the Yao was put into - who knows Pete's involved in capturing it - doesn't bode well for Pete when that thing gets lose - which it will.... but in the next ep Niran wants to use the demon inside of Pete, so maybe his life's gonna be put on the line just by being associated with Niran. starting this i kinda thought that Pete would be the "bad-guy" what with being possessed & all, looks like Niran aint that holy, if anything he kinda shady. *************************************************************************************************************also i don't like Pete's sister(?) like she is renting with whose money? given the fact their Uncle wants to sell their childhood home from under them & isn't ready to support Pete, am sure the one supporting Ploy is Pete, yet she acting like a spoilt brat?? not cute - *****************************************************************************************************************************side note: didn't take me more then a sec to recognize Krist, even in that get-up, found it/him hilarious...

Slow but steady

A slower episode, but seeing some story progression, loving the series so far, wish there 100 more episodes ahead, but all out at once as weekly would be torture

Prince Xin: a misguided and tragic good guy?

I'm glad I got what I'm curious about: back story into Xin Wang. My finger crossed that he is an actual good guy who loved and cared about his wife the entire time. Maybe he'll turn bad or go mad later because of his obsession for her? I hope it won't be the case even though it seems kind of likely because of plot holes and cliche. Sigh.I just realised, the characters I'm drawn to in this series all have something in common: expressions and emotions. They make me feel things. They seem human. Except the FL. But I do see this type of people in the real world too. Some other thoughts: https://mydramalist.com/769787-dong-feng-xin#comment-26891254

Five Stars

I am enjoying this drama, I like the leads, and other cast members. I wish the F/L wasn't, so hard to get. She is not forgiving at all, and appears to play hard to get, or shes faking. At any rate, she is dragging it. I find BOP intriguing, with great M/A, and good acting. You can always count on , treachery, betrayal, great costumes and strong yet delicate, intelligent female leads, in Chinese dramas. I admire that. All in all, a great cast. I'm enjoying.

Tian Yuan's reminder & Prince Xin

Another enjoyable episode with good fun from Peter Ho, He Yu and everyone's favourite second couple. I just want to note down two highlights for me:1. Tian Yuan sharing with FL about ML's love and sacrifices for her:+ Yes, it's very nice and heart-warming...- At the same time, it's full of... cliche and plot armours: ML is too OP for a sick person. His poison is supposed to eat his life span away. But damn, dude has a commanding physique, even a veteran general is impressed. If I'm that sick (let's say, his illness is like that of cancer), I won't be able to charge head first at the enemy troupe full of poisoned arrows OR run through the night up-then-down-then-up-again around some alley and mountain on a one-person search party OR climb up a snowy mountain at a dangerously high altitude without proper gears (is it the "chi" thing?) because I'd be out of oxygen and delirious before I get anything done. (Thinking to self: It's a fantasy. It's fictional. It's the grand gestures. It's entertaining. Logic be out the window, bye bye, it's okay.)2. I'm still very intrigued with Prince Xin. This could have been a story with him and FL being the leads. But, I'm good with the current story too. Just being a little greedy. Some thoughts I have about him up to this episode: https://mydramalist.com/769787-dong-feng-xin#comment-26880116

Mao, oh Mao...

There's a lot to talk about, but I might focus on Mao this time. 👆As expected, he just pretended to reconcile with WuYi, yet he still wants him to live, and that includes curing his illness. But for what reason? To make him watch how powerful and loved he has become? To get JiaYu for himself and watch WuYi feeling bad, envious or jealous about all that? Or is that some brotherly sentiment from deep within that he's trying to hide? 😒🤔But he won't be able to get JiaYu — she's not in love with him anymore, which leads me to wonder if he lives in some sort of denial about her feelings, maybe still thinking WuYi has stolen her from him? 🙄 But that's not how it works, Mao! 🤦‍♀️😮‍💨And I did notice the change in how JiaYu and WuYi address him now by his full name — Li Mao. No more A'Mao or Yizhi... That shows us how distant they've become by that alone. 😬Also, did Mao know beforehand about the attempt to kill the Grand Tutor? Maybe he even orchestrated it so he could have a reason to accuse the Xiaos again and get rid of the living proof of his not-so-royal lineage? 🫣😬🤷‍♀️But WuYi has now saved JiaYu from Mao, and even threatened him. Next time he won't spare him... And when will that next time be? When the Northern forces arrive? 🤨

kochi looked so adorable this episode teehee

OKAY THAT ENDING GOT ME . . . i still think cattleya is extremely underrepresented with literally every egg being put in the paruru basket but i think I’m just going to move on from that after this episode. this is definitely the best episode so far. hokuto is definitely one of the best actors in the cast so he did deliver when it’s his turn to. i think that’s all i really have to say. it was a marked improvement.

Trap for north or betrayal?

This episode had a series of events that has the North against the Xies and disguising as Xiao Ju to kill Tutor Xie. Mao makes a deal to get WuYi spared, but with who and what in recompense? LeJun tries to get home but is caught. Is she aware that Wuyi pronounced Prince Wenxi dead? Mao knows the truth of his father’s death but uses it to frame Xiaos and try to get control of the army. Tutor Xie was taking a path towards redemption but was cut down to be silenced. Is Mao covering up his lineage trail? WuYi has come back with Ye slaves in the north and diverts his original plan to rescue JiaYu. Her conversation with Mao was very calm and collected. She didn’t waste effort showing him emotional turmoil in any fashion and assured him she chose to be by WuYi’s side. She has outlined the plot pretty thoroughly and didn’t even bother giving him contempt. She just assured him whether with WuYi or no, her life’s plan would be to follow WuYi’s course for the people. She congratulated him on having the disposition to be emperor. 😝They keep showing his concubine with odd looks so it remains to be determined what side she is on. This plot of the north has drawn out the shadow guards who have not been used until this new development. I think Mao got a surprise that JiaYu could stab him up close and personal. When it seemed sure they would be captured, WuYi intervenes but lets Mao know their next meeting he would not be spared. Was satisfied that his parting shot was cutting off the top knot. Mao lets them go because he knows the rest of Xiao family is slated for execution and WuYi won’t let that slide without showing up. It is unclear if this is all a ploy to deceive the north or if Mao is colluding with the north to get his sister back and control of Beifu army. Is this a plot to soften collateral damage from a war with the north? Prince Qi, Eagle King and Xiao WuYi…….are any of these three working together? Or are they separately trying to keep balance of power? Prince Qi is showing malice at not having complete control of JianKang. Has his ambition overrode everything else? It seems too quick a turn around after seeing WuYi destroy the phoenix heart tokens. There is no logic for him to want WuYi to live and to want his head on a platter at same time. So who is really in disguise? Everything shifting to definite war with the north coming. Prince Qi seems determined to keep himself top power no matter the cost but even JiaYu could not decide what was fact or fiction with him. She just knows where her heart and allegiance lies and it’s not with him.

WE HAVE HUSBANDS!!!

What a beautiful ending to a beautiful journey! I've grown so attached to these characters, and sending them back to the novel feels bittersweet. I think there couldn't have been a more perfect ending, and it encapsulated all the emotions we felt throughout the series so wonderfully. I loved the director's cameo and all the little subtle nods to real life. Saying goodbye to Sun was so beautifully done, and it made me sob! I couldn't imagine that being done any other way, and seeing Sun in the physical alongside PobmekSolar was something I didn't know I needed! The switch between the scene outside the school where Pobmek shows his ring and the proposal scene was swoon-worthy - I couldn't stop squealing! I truly love this show with all my heart and can't wait to see what PerthSanta gets up to next!

Solar has a kinder heart than me, that's for sure

Firstly, I'll say that I am the biggest hater of Solar's father - nothing can justify leaving your very young child alone after their other parent has just died. That being said, we finally have more information about Solar's mother and it is so heartbreaking. I really love how this series has touched on so many different important themes and doesn't shy away from showing the realities of these conditions. The montage while Solar and his father read his mother's letter broke me because you could feel how hard she wanted to fight to be better for Sun. I also love that whenever either Solar or Pobmek are going through something particularly devastating, their other half is always in the scene with them as if to signify just how much support they give each other. And I have to shout out Santa's acting once again - the constant switching between Solar and Sun was so distinct yet smooth and continues to show off Santa's amazing acting skills!
