Character wise, Mei Nagano was spot on. She was just so refreshing to look at. Miura Shohei on the hand also did great. But sometimes I just want to comb his hair lol (I know, they're just referencing the manga but still...) and Alan Shirahama... well, I may be a little biased about him since I was really pegging for Kentaro, never-the-less, he pulled it off somehow. The little smiles he makes were really cute.
All in all, it was a great live action. Plus, it was quite faithful to the manga despite some deleted scenes and characters.

I didn't have much expectation for this show as I was watching it because the storyline seems really interesting and Taecyeon is inside. However, Woo Do Hwan totally stole my heart so much more than Taecyeon (I'm so sorry) I ship Dong Cheol because he is so true to himself even though it got him into so much trouble. (He's so dashing too)
This story really shows that how extreme certain people may be after having faith in the religion but this show made it real bad and disgusting. How disgusting humans can be in order to gain power and how bad the society is. Be it in the show or not, some times it's just how the society works nowadays. The rich gets richer and can do 'mostly' whatever they want to have their own personal gains.
Storyline is amazing. Full stop.
Nothing like what other kdrama would do, not much of a love story but a lot of kinships and bromance.
Bromance game were quite strong despite some 'loop holes' that i find it weird but nah.. Not allowed to give you spoilers.
Every cast has their own story at the end of the day and that's what makes this show perfect. All cast be it supporting roles or main roles, they did their part to make this worth while. There are characters that you would be disgusted and also some surprises here and there when they happen to discover more secrets.
Music wise i don't really remember much except some sad scenes and not forgetting the initial "15" introduction part by the main female lead (her voice is gooood) though i don't understand what she says everytime at the beginning, heh.
I wouldn't really rewatch this show as i wouldn't say it's my real favourite. (I don't really rewatch shows unless it's my REALLY REALLY favourite if you get what i mean)
But that doesn't mean it won't be your favourite since everyone has their own preference!
So please, enjoy the show and discover some secrets in the cult!

I think the main problem with this story was that by the end, you still feel unfinished, there are way too many things left unanswered.there are a lot of aspects that the drama introduced but didn't explore further. The ending was kinda rushed, while around 2/3 of the story was draggy. I feel like they focused too much on the second male lead, not enough on the male lead.
The good parts: i like the main protagonist that she was not just a helpless damsel in distress looking for love. She actually work hard and fight for what she believes it. She was not a pushover, and she is basically a good person but she is cunning. I love the character Yuwen Yue,played by the handsome Lin Gengxin.i'm quite sad and annoyed that they didn't focus a lot on him and the people around him. There are some interesting characters surrounding him but the story didn't cover that so it makes those characters very i dunno what the words to describe it but maybe ''one-dimensional''. They didn't tell us their back story, only slightly touch on it which sort of make it worse.....back to the good, it is also nice that we can see the struggle of the main characters. They may make questionable decisions that we may not agree with but they often have their own reasons behind it. ( would have been a lot better if they does that for some of the supporting chaarcters too...) i think the best story makes us able to emphathize with the characters and this drama was able to do that for me to a certain extent ,thats why despite all the flaws, i still like it.

Wow... where do I begin? This is all you need to know about this drama. It is not an innovative drama nor does it take itself too seriously. It delivers exactly what you expect it to deliver...which is lots of beautiful people in beautiful costumes with a beautiful soundtrack to go with it. It is a fantasy so of course there is going to be lots of shitty CGI. This drama is also not short on overused cliches: Female lead loses her memory (check), Male lead is stoic and cold (check), Male and Female leads are so in love they do illogical things (check), Evil, scheming, jealous women who desire the male lead (s) (check) (CHECK) and there are more but it would be a spoiler... (CHECK). I also fast forwarded a lot of boring side arcs. This was how I managed to finish this entire thing in 3 days.
BUT! Here is the huge BUT in this review... BUT.... boy was it entertaining. The main story arc, which is the love between Bai Qian and YeHua, was so captivating that it made up for all of the sleep I lost. Watch this drama for Mark Chao as YeHua. He gave the performance of his life. When Yehua was in pain, I was in pain. When he was in love, I was rooting for him like a childish school girl. Yang Mi as Bai Qian wasn't as impressive but she had her memorable moments. I give her lots of props for portraying multiple characters. She managed to bring to life three different characters in Siyin, Su Su and Bai Qian while still retaining the element of continuity that made us all believe that they were still part of her original character Bai Qian. She also kicked ass as Bai Qian (which was refreshing). I only wished she recognized her feelings for Yehua earlier. Like COME ON...GIRL... return the passion please!
Huge Con: The story does not truly start until the second act which is probably why people would drop it early on. The main male character (Yehua) doesn't officially show up until episode 8 or 9 for crying out loud.
In summary, I loved this. It was a great ride and I will definitely rewatch (and skip all of the nonsense filler story arc again) just for my dose of Bai Qian and Yehua.

And can I just emphasize how much I liked Touma and Sebumi's duo in this drama. They really complemented each other so well. There was never a boring part when those two are working together
Chief Kotaru is a lovable character as well!
Great acting and performance overall although the plot of the story gets confusing at first. There was just the right mix of wierdness in the story that makes the whole drama unique.
Totally would reccommend this!

I don't think there's any chemistry between Tik and the other lady.
Nat's ex fiance's wife keeps accusing her running after her husband while it's vice versa, The main guy's married ex gf doesn't go anywhere but always hangs around the main couple , his lawyer's delusional wife & daughter trying to break the couple with the help of the ex fiance and the other delusional wife of the boyfriend.
God help the ones who wants to the watch this lakorn

The main turnoff for me was actually the acting. It made the whole story less credible. The only good actor was Nagano Mei and she played a secondary role. But I guess it is quite understandable since Inoo Kei is quite new to acting and Yamamoto Mizuki is mainly a model. Thus, overall, the cast choice wasn't that great and it deflates the value of the story itself.
I had high hopes for this movie since the manga is so famous but :/ I was honestly disappointed.

The drama is clearly low budget. You can tell by the costumes/props and at some point, it looks like a home-filmed thing. However! That does not subtract anything from the amount of pure substance in this piece ;)
Considering the Chinese government censors and all that, I'm very proud of what these people managed to put out!

This has 27 episodes in one season and has more time to tell the story, it feel more natural yet the chemistry is not there. You know he loves her, she hangs out with like 5 other guys while trying to distance herself from Dao Ming Si I am not sure that was in the manga, it sure wasn't in the other three versions.
This version has no amnesia and no "Lost in Snow" Incident which the other three did.
Lei's character (Rui) is ok TBH the Korean version fleshed him out so much better and while I love Oguri Shun as Rui there just wasn't much meat to his story.
Xi Men -The potters son/Tea maker/ who knows what his fathers job is in this, is an interesting story arc, and better done than Hana Dan this couple was my favorite in both BOF and MG.
So here's my recommendation Watch HanaDan for Domiyogi/Makino, watch BOF and MG for other F4 love stories.

This movie definitely played with my emotions and made me happy one minute and sad the next. Though that is one of the characteristics of a good movie.
Though I think the whole Sae thing was a little off it added an interesting plot.
The background music wasn’t all that noticeable but it was incredible when it did stand out.
I would definitely watch this movie again and recommend it to others!

I came into this drama for the cast alone, but I got much more than I was expecting. If you are expecting a great romance, you may be disappointed. There are some romantic feelings, but it is not the main point. The quartet of flawed but likable individuals find friendship and support at a time when they all have a deep need for it. As a hardcore romantic, I thoroughly enjoyed the friendship and didn't feel any lack due to the barely there romance.
The best things about this drama:
1) the acting- the casting could not have been more perfect. Each actor seemed fitted to the role, bringing out the best in their character.
2) the characters- perfectly imperfect, and quirky. Their interactions with each other made each episode special.
3) the witty banter- I applaud the writer. So very clever. This truly made the drama a joy to watch.
4) the music- brilliant!
Quartet may not be everyone's cup of tea, but for me, this is the best drama of the year.

I was very hesitant about this drama in the beginning. The colors were so bright, the title cheesy. I was afraid I would suffer through a soupy and exaggerated melodrama with lots of shortsighted intrigues and superficial characters (what I experienced with My Sassy Girl). The only thing that pushed me into this was Im Shi Wan's dashing historical look in the promotionals. And even though I was still unsure while watching the first episode... when a young man's voice began to tell the story of a frightened little boy, born into a world where he had to face fears and prejudices, hopeful expectations flared up.
It is hard to put my feelings for this show into words. If I were to describe what kind of drama this is, I would say that it depicts the story of the Crown Prince and his struggle to become a man worthy to reign over his country. Im Shi Wan is an incredible actor. I have seen many historical dramas, but his interpretation of a Crown Prince and his performance were a pleasure to watch and a gem among so many others. I was absorbed in his acting, his happiness, fears and his inner and outer battles. Constantly between trying to protect the ones close to him whilst falling short on accomplishing his own desires and dreams over and over again... To see him never giving up and always trying to get the best out of every situation, he became the only character I deeply cared about. And I had the urge to give him a hug more than once. Behind that imposing royal demeanor he upheld at all times, only tiny facial expressions revealed the stinging pain he was feeling inside during constant encounters that tried to marginalize him and drive him to his knees. I was overwhelmed by his endurance and felt his hurt every time he did.
The rest of the cast did a relatively good job as well, even though most of them never reached Im Shi Wan's level. But every single one had at least one thread I could connect to. The script gave them more than just one layer and when it mattered I was able to either hate or like the king, the queen, the second male and female leads or the side characters. Maybe the only one I was never too fond of till the end was the big bad wolf. But half the fault lies within the writers who tried to give him more depth during the last episodes but instead went a little over the top.
I enjoyed the love triangle, which I usually don't do in dramas. I think what I liked the most about it was that the female lead was never solely responsible for the two male leads' actions. It just either pushed or slowed down the inevitable development all of them had to confront at some point anyway. And even though bromance was endearing, it was always meant to meet a poignant fate, with or without the additional love interest.
While the first half of the drama started slow, lighthearted and sometimes even funny, it built up its climax with subtle steps, and it never failed to gradually increase the ultimate danger. It led its characters to life-changing decisions while it forced them to grow up too fast while facing the consequences of their actions. Somewhere during the second half I was worried the writers might chicken out of the path they created for their characters. But they did not - for the most part. The final aftermath might have felt a little less sever than what it could have been, but it was still satisfying. I have no idea how others felt about the ending, but I really liked it. Somewhere along the way I realized that it would be one of the most reasonable finishes and my hunch eventually proved to be true.
The King Loves is definitely one of the better sageuks out there, so don't hesitate to start this. It is a pleasant, moving but also tear-jerking drama that will stay in your memory for a very long time.
