This movie has got violence, blood shed and cruelty but yeah!! if you can handle it jus go for it. I'm a girl and i absolutely got impressed from the start till the finish. Everything was so perfect in this movie. The fight scenes are something which you have never seen anywhere.

As for the crime parts, it is the emphasis of the drama. This drama requires brain and focus for you to keep understanding the whole situation. They have domino effect from one case to another. Ji Bai and Xuxu are just human, they sometimes did it wrong, they accepted it and move on. That's the most important part about the investigation side of this drama that I like. Each characters complete the other.
Music and cinematography are great. Not only fair enough, but they really put extra attentions to these factors. I love the OSTs, background music and cinematography which helps me understand more about the scene.
Definitely the best Chinese drama I have ever watched so far.

I'm like a little obsessed with crime shows and stuff so I'm being a little harsh. Overall, if this was the first time I saw a crime show, this would blow my mind. But alas, I've seen a few good ones so this doesn't really compare that well.
The story was good in the sense that most questions got answered. You find out who almost everyone is at the end. But what bothered me was that the story wasn't really tightly connected. The overarching theme was really loose and it felt a little bit forced, like parts of it was inserted just because it'll add suspense but it didn't really relate to anything too significant.
The overarching plot was predictable and too typical. I mean it's still a decent drama, I would definitely recommend, but it was a *little* disappointing.
But the individual crimes and stuff, that was kinda neat. Props.
What I appreciated was the comedic relief, they were inserted a really good times so you're not psychologically stressed the entire show. And it really builds on character development.
Acting: 8/10
The main characters really worked well together, not to mention the male leads were definitely eye candy ^^ Character development only really happened for Dr. Qin, the rest kinda helped him a long with it. Which was cute. But development was pretty typical and expected. At least the acting was professional.
Music: 6.5/10
There were not really a lot of memorable OST parts that I could remember. I'm pretty good aurally so I would remember a song that relates a certain scene or whatever. The only vaguely good parts I remember is the quirky tune during comedic relief parts. When ever that music came on, I just felp more relaxed because nothing bad is happening.
Rewatch: 5/10
I don't typically rewatch dramas, but this was short and sweet enough to maybe go and pick out my favorite episodes. What I love about these dramas are that the beginnings are individual crimes and stories so you can watch it separately.
Overall: 7/10
It was a little disappointing that the overarching theme was too loose and typical. It was too predictable and thus a little anti-climatic. But the individual crimes were pretty decent and enjoyable.
If anyone is looking for a good crime show starter or just a laid back drama, this is definitely a good one.

Also let me get this out of the way at the top: never have I ever suffered so much from second male lead syndrome. Honestly if I could find me a Jun se I'd be one happy girl. It was so refreshing to see a male character that did not have to change to be acceptable for the girl. You knew he wasn't gonna win out, but as he said in one scene, it wasn't because Eun Sung didn't like him, she just allowed someone else into her heart. So classy all through out to be honest. Even when he was hurt by Eun Sung he didn't cling to her or try to persuade her, he didn't bad mouth Hwan, he didn't say some ridiculous line about it being OK that she didn't return his affections because he can love her enough for the both of them (makes my blood boil). He expressed his disappoint in a non malicious way (and he definitely had a right to because Eun Sung definitely lead him on even after her feelings for Hwan started. She knew how he felt and waited so long to shut down any expectations he had about their relationship) and still stayed by her side even after it, with no intention of winning her affections.
Now when it comes to Hwan I have to say that I wasn't charmed by him or really all that impressed. That's not to say that he was a horrible guy or anything, but this drama did such a disservice to his character by having him act like a petulant child for 9 straight episodes. I was incredibly bored and over his attitude that by the time he started to "change" it was a little too late for me to actually start investing in his character. Now had this show been a seasonal show and they could actually take time to flesh his character out more, then maybe I could've rooted for his character more (individually, not as a subset of his relationship with Eun Sung). But 9 of 28 episodes with absolutely no change (and actually getting progressively worse)? Wasn't here for it. It also didn't help that his change was so superficial in that all that happened was him doing what he should've been doing in the first place. You're 27 and you don't wanna work? You're 27 and you treat people like crap? You're 27 and you throw tantrums worse than a child? There was nothing hard about his grandmothers' conditions and yet you would've believed she was asking for the world. And yet I'm supposed to be impressed that he became a decent human being? No, everybody should have a level of decency in them unless they're a sociopath. Now having said that, I didn't hate him. He didn't really illicit any reaction from me save for a few eye-rolls and some rare smiles (yes I smiled a couple of times because as I said he wasn't horrible).
Now 2 characters who did illicit reactions from me where Seung Mi and Seung Hee! OMGosh did they ever. I started out absolutely loathing Seung Hee because never had I ever come across such a vile character before who wasn't a sociopath. However that loathing quickly turned into respect because as much as a snake as she was, she knew she was a snake and didn't mind slithering. Her daughter on the other hand drove me up an effing wall with all her self-righteousness. She wanted to pretend she wasn't in the grass slithering right along with her mother. Truthfully Seung Mi needed psychological help because no one should be as dependent on another human being as much as she was with Hwan. Shit is unhealthy as hell.
Eun Woo was adorable as ever and the actor that portrayed him was fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every time he was on the screen.
Eun Sung was OK. She was like a strong weak girl. I could tell how much she wanted to be strong and how determined she was, but there were far too many times where she was so naive and gullible that I found myself yelling at my computer screen. Her ability to smile through most situations though was really admirable.
As far as the relationship between Eun Sung and Hwan, it wasn't my cup of tea. There was banter, but very weak imo. I like playful relationships and theirs was more childish. It was a whole lot of meh to me tbh.
I definitely could've gotten behind a Hyeri/Jun Se pairing though. That girl was such a Jun Se fangirl. May I join the club Hyeri?
As far as recommendations go it's definitely not something that hasn't been done before and probably better and at 28 episodes it is a bit long and quite frankly could've been shorter, but if you don't mind getting frustrated and a few non-sensical things here and there, you could definitely do worse.

Story: "The bright and dark side of the world of stars is dramatically captured in this drama by giving a realistic depiction of singer-wannabes ambition and their dash for stardom.
A story about the painstaking work it takes to become a popular singer, the intrigues and betrayals arising from constant meetings and partings, and heartbreaking love that blooms amidst all that. It presents viewers with a glimpse of a life that burns like a flame." MBC (taken from Asianwiki).
Cast: Hwan Hee as Rex - He's been in the industry since he was 13 and he's being suffocated by not being allowed to do the kind of music he wants to do. He tries to break free. I liked him, despite his rude demeanor and sour attitude, he is really just an innocent kid who doesn't know how to share his feelings gracefully - I found him adorable and loveable ^_^ Half of my heart shipped him with Sangmi.
Ji Hyun Woo as Hyuk Joo - He was a rebel in school disobeying everything and was even a part of a gang, he turns into a dancer and goes through hardships with his teammates to make it. I liked him and the other half of my heart shipped him with Sangmi as well lol - He was a total fool in love and that was what mattered most to him... which honestly made it easier for my heart to be split in two. He loved dancing as it made him happy. It was his first dream so to say.
Seo Ji Hye as Sangmi - She was the awkward girl who is a huge fan of Rex - a total devoted and loyal fan - b/c of an incident she tries her best in a field she isn't good in and in doing that she discovers her true talent. I loved her! (to be honest I love any character SJH plays when she is equally innocent, sweet, smart and loveable) ^_^ As I said above I shipped her with both guys hehe - of course if I had to choose I did prefer one over the other but there were a few times where I was ready to kick him to the curb lol
Kim Ok Bin as Hee Soo - I didn't like her personally as a character - she was very selfish and at times quite manipulative (as Hyuk Joo's friends said) she's not all bad however - she is nice but she was just too selfish (and in that there was a lesson to be learned for the viewers) - With all choices there is a price to pay.
Nam Hyun Joo (Poppin Hyun Joon) as Manjong - He's a part of Hyuk Joo's dance team and for me he was the cherry on top of the Ice cream so to speak lol - I was totally shocked when I saw him as I didn't know he was in this drama! but I was even more surprised when I realized he wasn't just a "guest" but had a "supporting" role to play in it! Needless to say I loved it and loved his role in this drama even more - he was smart, clever and entertaining and he always gave good advice!
The rest of the supporting cast was great and I enjoyed everyone - it wouldn't be the same without one!
Music - I loved most of it (there was one English rap song played early on that I did not like and one song of Rex's that I did not like b/c well... uhm... yeah lets just leave it at that - you'll know why if you watch it lol - it's the lyrics ya'll) - but I LOVED at least 3 songs if I remember correctly - one was by Rex (or Hwan Hee) called 'Tomorrow' (and I actually listened to it before I watched this drama several times lol - I have it on CD - I LOVE it), there is a Ballad song by Ji Hyun Woo 'The Single Eyed Fish' (and I'm a total ballad lover so it speaks to my very soul lol), and one BG ballad song by a female artist that I don't know that I really liked. I also quite enjoyed Hyuk Joo's fathers Trot Song lol
Re-watch Value 8/10 - Definitely worth re-watching - and I recommend it to music lovers!

At just episode 1, I was sure I would love this drama.
And now, 20 minutes after I finished the last episode, I can say I was correct.
I love series and movies that are not black and white, but where you have to judge the concept of 'evil' yourself - what is too much, is revenge always bad, who is the real bad guy - things like these.
The actors... oh, the actors. Im Ju Eun was way better than I expected, but the guys... Lee Seo Jin and Park Gun Il were both just awesome here. Even if the series hadn't been good, I would've finished this just for those two.
I wouldn't say the genre of this is horror though - more psychological thriller, but mostly a study of humanity, in my personal opinion.

That's actually quite simple. At one point, I thought « Wow ». I was already hooked from the start (or rather around episode 3 because that's when the main leads actually meet for the first time) but later I really fell in love with the characters and the story. I was impressed, which nearly never happens. I was so eager to see the next episode that I ended up reading the novel... only to be frustrated by not being able to finish it. Yes, unfortunately for now, you'll only find the first half translated in english on internet. (EDIT : now completed! Advice: watch the drama before reading the novel.)
Story :
It's a little difficult to follow at first because there are a lot of characters and informations to remember. When it started, I thought it would be roughly one case every three episodes. So I didn't really care about the criminals identities and that's where I was wrong. It's actually one big case. The first case leads to the second, which leads to a third even bigger, and so on. Episodes are short but intense on informations. You have to stay focused to follow this drama, be warned.
Drama vs novel
Personnaly, I love them both in a different way. In the novel, I love how intense the main leads relationship is. We don't have their inner thoughs in the drama, so the focus is more on the investigation, which gives off an intense feeling too. Hence, I did not mind the difference, but I'll surely see a lot of things in a different way when I'll rewatch it. For instance, Ji Bai feelings are less obvious in the drama. He smiles at her, confides in her, stays by her side... They just made Xu Xu realization of her feelings more obvious than the novel through her drawings. Still, I think you'll appreciate the drama more if you watch it before reading the novel.
Acting and characters reactions
Realistic. I have to word it that way because, when it's a romantic comedy, chinese and taïwanese dramas tend to exagerate situations. Fortunately, they choose to focus on the investigation for this drama, so the acting is also very serious. The one thing that actually doesn't feel right is Xu Xu drawing cartoons. I felt the way she was portrayed in the novel, being someone really mature and logical, was more realistic.
Music and cinematography
I loved the opening song and even more its clip. So beautiful and kind of sensual, even with animals drawings. It goes well with the cinematography. Some sequences are beautiful. I loved how they make use of some silent moments. One little thing bothered me in the first few episodes. At times, the camera trembled too much, probably to give a suspens feel. But overall, it was really well-done.

This review may contain spoilers
SO FAR (because i haven't watched the entire series - even though the rules to this says that you should) I loved it.
WHAT I HATED, (and this is no spoiler since it happens in the first ep) is that Korn and Knock stumble upon so many problems. I get that the series is titled "Bad Romance" for a reason, but i swear it was only directed and Korn and Knock. You'll see them cutesy in 20 minutes, and then the next 20 they're stumbling again. I wish they were just stable for at least one episode.
OTHER than that, this series is pretty legit. Just saying. I mean they've got me on the edge of my bed and I've binge watched everything up until now. I haven't laughed or cried at the same time for so long.
WHAT WAS SLOPPY was the sound effects. they literally had slapstick sound effects such as a car honking or a horse neighing or that *plonk* sound when you fall. It was the only thing that made this series less attractive, but honestly when you look past it, the story made my heart flutter and break within just one episode.
A 100% must watch. I promise. You'll get frustrated here and there from Knock and Korn but come on, you'll love it.

Im happy to report the opening two episodes i was swept away. The opening theme is one of the best ive heard in awhile (its a trademark sound similar to CSI) and the cinematography was so nicely done. Those drawings adorable and gorgeous. Finally i now couldnt imagine Ji Bai as none other than Wang Kai and Xuxu none other than Olivia. They both suited the roles to a T.
Yet there is a but after putting out these praises. Of all the 3 novels from Ding Mo i find the love relationship in When Snail falls in love to be the cutest and sweetest. And just the right balance with the crime solving bit. But the production crew in this drama has opted to tip that balance and scale down the romance. I understand roles get magnify or diminish and plots do change in adaptation. But i cant really agree its for the better with some of the changes. Nevermind that its more centric on police detective skills, crime solving and profiling and character growth for Xuxu.
Just to name a few: Xuxu's pursuer was scraped off. Xuxu as the solo disciple to Master Ji scrap off. The JiBai pursue first got a 180degree treatment. The reason why JiBai went to Myanmar changed. Yao meng character changed but since its for the better im ok with that.
Lets just say cause i read the novel there were certain things i was waiting for and came up empty waiting and watching from beginning to ep 15. Nothing. Then we go from nothing to suddenly 75% in their romance development. I get it thats its snail" but that sudden development didnt have time in earlier episodes to plant and bloom properly.
Then episodes 18 to 21 was so epically good and bolstered up by such commendable acting from both our leads.
This drama could have been a solid 10. All the more cause we know the chemistry between our leads is powerful and that i felt was not fully unleashed. Ive been left in vain wanting that bit more for our lion and his snail. To the point i wish theres a special episode to see more of them as an item.
Il definitely miss Wang Kai as a detective n that man rocks the white shirt blue jeans look. Again want to note awesome casting of him n Olivia. This among the best C dramas have to offer in 2016. DO WATCH and if you love more romance development Do READ the novel.
