Hello dear readers,

We're back!

We are Anushka (for now Half-Blood Prince) and unconditionallyyourss aka 'The Hogwarts Twins.' As our pen name suggests, yes, we are proud Potterheads. We are big fans of 'Harry Potter' as well as avid drama watchers. What if Harry Potter was a C-drama? That sounds very fascinating, right? Okay, we know the cast doesn't make perfect sense, as the story starts with 11-year-old Harry, but we are doing it for fun. So, why not?

Through this article, we are going to see what the perfect cast for the Chinese Harry Potter series would be. Are you excited? Let's start our magical journey!

Let's find the perfect cast!

Disclaimer: This cast is only from our perspective, you might have a different view.

Lin Yi as Harry Potter

Harry Potter is the soul of the series, so shouldn't there be a perfect person for this role? I think Lin Yi would be the best option for it! Clearly, there are many similarities with the visuals of both actors. Though Lin Yi is a newbie in the industry and still has many things to learn, he sure has shown improvement from Put Your Head on My Shoulder to Love Scenery. I believe he can pull off Harry's role.

"Expelliarmus!"

Deng Lun as Ronald Weasley

Deng Lun could carry Ron's role perfectly. He did a great job in some very popular dramas, which include Ashes of Love, though he didn't get a chance to portray any characters similar to Ron. But he sure has the capability to do so. After seeing Deng Lun's clever yet intelligent character in Because of You, I believe that he's a good choice.

"Bloody Hell!"

Dilraba Dilmurat as Hermione Granger

Brave, intelligent, smart, observant, and a bit nerdy are the key points of Hermione's character, not to mention the willingness to sacrifice. Dilraba sure does look cute, but she has a very strong personality and we can definitely see it through the roles that she has played. After seeing her play a strong female lead in The Long Ballad, Dilraba would be a good choice as Hermione.

"It's LeviOsa, not LeviosA."

Zhang Shuang Li as Professor Albus Dumbledore

Albus Dumbledore -- the best of the best, and the most intelligent! Our favorite principal. He's just as important as the main trio. I've seen many of Zhang Shuang Li's dramas myself and he always plays those wise, not easy to fool, old men. He also has a calm and kind of mysterious aura, which makes him perfect to play Dumbledore.

"It's not our abilities that make us who we are, Harry. It's our choices."

Wallace Chung as Professor Severus Snape

Severus Snape is one the most important characters, and not to mention my favorite, too! Wallace Chung is a veteran actor, having had the experience of more than 25 years. In his last role in The Sword and The Brocade, he portrayed a mature and dense character. As Snape himself has a dense, mature, and dark side to his personality, Wallace surely can play the role of Snape perfectly.

“Look at me... You have your mother’s eyes.”

(Oh my god! I can hear him!!! Snape is the best!)

Jing Tian as Ginny Weasley

Ginny was the character who didn't get justice in the movies compared to the books (in my opinion). So for her character here, I'm gonna base my reference off the books, as I loved her character more there. She was brave, confident, smart, and not to mention, a little badass. The perfect example of "beauty with brains". Jing Tian nailed her previous role as Si Feng in Rattan. She was stunning and astonishing there. There aren't many similarities in the visuals, but both are absolutely beautiful. Jing Tian as Ginny would be the perfect combo!

"Close your eyes, that way you can't be tempted."

 Zhao Jinmei as Luna Lovegood

Luna has a bubbly personality, but not just that -- she is brave, too. She looks innocent and has a curious mind, which made her a great witch. Jinmei gives a similar vibe. She looks innocent but has a lot of capabilities. After seeing her in The Blessed Girl, I was amazed by the type of characters she can play. She'll be a good choice to play Luna's character.

"I've interrupted a deep thought, haven't I? I can see it growing smaller in your eyes.”

 Xu Kai as Draco Malfoy

Xu Kai is well known for his character Gu Yan Zhen in Arsenal Military Academy. In it, he was a clever, quick-witted, rich guy. Draco is also from a rich family. He was misled by family beliefs but was clever and quick-witted too. We can definitely see Xu Kai playing Draco!

"POTTAH!"

Song Wei Long as Cedric Diggory

Cedric, the perfect guy -- smart, filial, intelligent, social. He's someone we have to include in this article. He helped Harry through a lot. Song Wei Long and Cedric already look very similar in visuals. The majority of the characters Song Wei Long has played have that sensible yet smart guy personality. He'll be a great pick for Cedric.

"Exactly, you know the prefects' bathroom on the fifth floor? It's not a bad place for a bath. Just take your egg and... mull things over in the hot water."

Xing Zhao Lin and Yang Yang as Fred and George Weasley

Zhao Lin and Yang Yang having so many similarities in their visuals that they seem almost identical. There aren't any twin brothers in the Chinese drama industry so we picked them instead. Fred and George have a naughty side to their personalities, but are ambitious too, having goals for the future. As Zhao Lin and Yang Yang have the capability of playing versatile roles, I see them as the perfect fit for Fred and George Weasley.

“You're a prefect? Oh, Ronnie! That's everyone in the family!"
"What are Fred and I? Next-door neighbors?”

Zhang Zi Yi as Professor Minerva McGonagall

How can we forget Professor McGonagall? She had an important role in almost every part of the whole series. Zhang Zi Yi totally impressed me with her acting skills and capability after starring in The Rebel Princess. I haven't seen any of her other work, but she can definitely play Professor McGonagall. Wise, smart, yet strict, but only because she cares for the well-being of students -- this describes Professor McGonagall's personality.

"Why is it, when something happens, it is always you three?"

The trio be like ┐( ∵ )┌

Ning Wen Tong as Rubeus Hagrid

Hagrid... He has always helped our trio ever since they got into Hogwarts, until the end. He was always approachable, friendly, and helped everyone. I've seen Ning Wen Tong in All I Want for Love is You. He always seems like an approachable person who talks to everyone with ease. He seems like a great pick for Hagrid's role.

"You're a wizard Harry!"

Last but not least...

Gao Weiguang as Tom Riddle aka Lord Voldemort

No one can deny how important the role of Voldemort was to the whole series. After all, it all started and ended with him. To be honest, it's the most challenging role to play, and Gao Weiguang has the caliber to do so. The first time I saw him was in The Legend of Fu Yao, and he impressed me. Later, I saw him in many dramas, and he definitely has versatility. I want to see him in a darker role, and nothing can be darker than Voldemort, am I right?

"Voldemort is the past, present, and future."

For the few people who don't know the Harry Potter series, it is a series of seven books by a well-known author, J.K. Rowling, and was adapted into a series of eight movies. If you have never given them a try, then you should do it soon because you are missing out on some good stuff. Start with the movies and get to know the story, if reading books is not your cup of tea. Once you start the movies, I say there's no going back. You'll come out as fully brainwashed Potterheads, haha! (Not trying to scare you, I just wanna say that they're really good.) Once you have watched the movies, you can give the books a try for insider, untold stories, and a deeper comprehension of the plot.

Happiness can be found even in the darkest times if one only remembers to turn on the light. - Albus Dumbledore

Harry Potter is an amazing story that teaches friendship, acceptance, and perseverance "even in the darkest of times." ;) It will be our light and stay in our hearts. Always...

This is the end of our wonderful journey of exploration. Hope you enjoyed the ride ;D
