Enjoyable watch

So far this is very enjoyable to watch. There isn't a "Bad Boy" demeaning young ladies nor is there mindless ladies. I can wait to watch the rest of the Series. Everyone know the high school years were something else. Accounting to Episode 1, it explains a lot of what is going on. You must watch it or you may not understand the rest.

This will be an ongoing comment until I finish the series. I really hope other are enjoying it the way I am. Everyone who went to High School can relate to the one that got away. Episodes 1-5 were great! Lin sure knows how to get underneath his skin.😂

9 Episodes in and it keeps getting better. You can see each person going through their own problems while maintaining a positive image on life. I can relate to semi-finals and finals nail biting time😬. The eraser part was so funny🤣. The antics we use to pull in High School😂. I remember the crushes I had on two girls in High School😂. This series remind of those days.

Ep 19 is hilarious. What they do to Pen is great. I can see myself doing that to a scumbag. The lecture part was a great prank. It remember my school days. Plenty of laughs to go around. It is hard confessing to a girl that doesn't feel the same way you do. Been there, done that in school.

I am so glad that the Producers and Writers didn't have the typical "Bad Boy" pouting and demeaning girls in this series nor do they have the weak minded, jerk me around girls. Thank You. It is going to be sad when this series ends. I wonder if they'll do a part 2, like what happened after College, besides getting married.

I finished it. I will recommend folks put this on their watch list.

Maybe some of you don't get it. Here it is: It's not a "Bad Boy" demeans girl and say sorry at the end, to get with her series. It's not a low esteem, mindless girl letting a Bad Boy jerk her around series. It's an enjoyable coming of age Romantic Drama between a boy and girl with it ups and downs. Their friends truly friends with the ups and downs their friendship brings. I will watch it again.

How could i not fall in love with this series. I don't think any of the actors main or supportive role over did any scenes in all of the episodes. The storyline is cute and I just started this series this past weekend with my husband and couldn't stop watching till we finished the whole first season in one day. The main actor does an awesome job playing the hard to read sometimes cold hearted jerk but only shows his vulnerable side to the one who matters most and the main actress does such a great job showing the right emotions and facial expressions at the right scene you can't help but keep watching these two. I can't wait for season 2 if there will be one. If not i can watch season 1 over and over again.

Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace

First of all, before I dive into a long review of this drama, I want everyone to look at the headline above. Yes, the title is ‘RUYI’S ROYAL LOVE IN THE PALACE’, from the title itself we know this is the love story of a girl called Ruyi that happened inside the palace. Fyi, this is my first Chinese drama that I watched, that introduced me into the world of cdrama. I guess, it was worth it. Long ass of episodes, a heartbreaking drama with full of scheming, betrayals, self-reflection, falling out of love and regrets that it’s too late to emerge.

To sum up, this drama is about a girl named Ruyi who have a childhood lover and later on become her husband who was at the same time the emperor of the kingdom, named Hongli. In their younger days, they vows love towards each other and promised to stay by each other’s side through tough times and happiest moment. Ruyi wants nothing but love from her husband. However, the journey inside harem is not as smooth as everyone ever dreamed of. It fulls of scheming, betrayals, pretending to be so called ‘nice’, abusing powers, and gaining the emperor’s affection. Ruyi, in her best intention, try to stay away from all these immoral values. But, as a concubine inside the harem, she can’t avoid from being schemed and hurt by other women who have jealousy towards her. This is where she realised how tiring it is to be a king’s woman but at this point, her love towards Hongli was still stronger as ever. She wants to accompany and be there for him, because she knows how lonely the title of emperor that her husband had to bear. To cut it short, years goes by, and scheming inside the harem getting more intense, and everyone was affected and even the emperor slowly losing trust on Ruyi. This is when everything started to fall apart.

This drama tell us that no matter how much you love someone, your love alone can’t change that person to become the best version of himself. Ruyi thought that the love she have for Hongli would stay deeper even after years changes. But when she looking back, the person who he loved back then was no longer exists. It is just an arrogant emperor who thought everything he did was right, lustrous and easily swayed. From this point, she gave up on her love and wanted to be in peace and free as she used to be before she marrying into the palace.

Aside from her love story, this drama also portrayed the life inside the harem, the struggle of the empresses and concubines to gain the emperor’s favour and to usurp the power. It’s a unique story that shows not only a love story, but friendships, family and even various cultures. I was amazed with the beautiful traditional costumes and how different it is with one another. I love the traditional instruments played by the concubines, the opera song, the food, the setting, etc. It was beautiful and portrayed realistically. 10/10 for the cinematography and the efforts from production team.

In addition, the acting from Zhou Xun is outstanding. No wonder she was listed as one of the Four Dan actresses in China. I love and love the way she portrayed herself as Ruyi, how she bring this character to alive. Wallace Huo’s acting is equally good. I hated his character tho, and that’s mean he nailed the character of Hongli. Other side roles are doing amazing job for their respective characters. I hated the evil characters and I pitied some of the innocent characters that was keep being stomped in this drama. Everything was perfectly written and portrayed. And yes, it’s a long drama but it’s worth every thrill, heartbreak, pain, anger and tears that being poured.

Imo, a lot of people fail to understand what this drama is all about. For those who give up just after few episodes because it was boring and pointless, I hope you find a courage to give it another try. This drama is engraved in my heart, I love every bits of it. I still remember the line Ruyi said to the emperor, the last time they met each other; “Flowers bloom and flowers fall, there is timing to them.” She wanted to remind Hongli that their love and marriage were happy at the beginning, but have a sad ending at the end.
This drama is truly a masterpiece and one that would stay in my heart for a long time.

Cliche, Cheesy, Candy (Eye) with a Cold CEO

Sometimes the sum of the parts are just not the whole. when i put the starts for Story/Acting, etc... the recommended rating for this is 5.5, but I rate it 8. Nothing about this drama drove me crazy and nothing thrilled me beyond usual. It was simply just a drama for leisure time - perfectly fine... so 8 is the enjoyment rating for me... because of those cheesy lines that made me smile because they were so cheesy...
If you are like me and you sometimes need a fluffy bit of pretty to mindlessly consume, this is just fine.
Of course: if you can't stand the same old same old , than this is not for you.
It is essentially a predictable romcom with a "flash" of fantasy - actually it is a shame they did not make use of the fantasy elements a bit more.

What I mean by predictable:
-cold CEO finds one true love and becomes best boyfriend
-FL is the only one who can cure ML
-mandatory amnesia storyline
-ML has 1 or 2 other women trying to break them up!
-FL has another suitor - love triangle but not
-FL and ML have to spend 24/7 together for some reason
-FL works for ML
-meddling grandparent
-leads are either orphan or from a single parent family

What I mean by "flash" of fantasy-
-2ML has a moment early on where he reflects on his journey - then nothing until the final episodes and that time they just gloss over who he is without explanation on why, when how!
-FL can cure ML - but then later the explanation of who she is does not really explain why?

But all of this is indicative of the drama itself being bits of other dramas of its genre - just put together with cringy moments and lots of "skinship" to keep you watching. And they did keep me watching all the way to the end. I was in the mood for the silly stuff. So if you are too, it is certainly fine to skip through 🥰

Tonhon Chonlatee is a cute Thai BL Series fell down so much at the end.

at first i really like this series, it was so fun to watch, at the first few episodes of this series they never disappoint you to make you happy

BUT AFTER EPISODE 7 DOWN TO THE END I FELT THAT THIS SERIES IS TO PROBLEMATIC.

HOW THEY REPRESENT THE "GAY" GENDER, HOW THEY REPRESENT HOMOPHOBIA
HOW THEY REPRESENT SURROGATE ETC
THEY NEVER REPRESENT THEM SERIOUSLY INSTEAD THEY REPRESENT ALL OF THESE AS A COMEDY SKETCH OR SKIT (but it's not funny at all)

AND I THOUGHT THE LAST EPISODE COULD SAVE THIS SERIES FOR BEING DOWN BUT NAH, IT BRINGS THE SERIES MORE DOWNHILL.

WHY TONHON DECIDED TO HIDE HIS FEELING FOR CHONLATEE FOR A LONG TIME AND CHOOSE TO BECOME HOMOPHOBIC? ?

WHY TF TONHON'S FATHER WANTS HIM AND HIS SIBLING HAVE A CHILDREN? WHY THE FATHER NEEDS TO PRESSURE THEM? ALSO I HATE TONHON'S FATHER TO BEING TOO MUCH HOMOPHOBIC, FOR ME THIS WAS THE WORST FATHER I'VE BEEN EVER SEEN IN A BL SERIES, I WISH HE COULD DIE BECAUSE OF THAT HEART ATTACK.

ALSO I HATE THE ROLE OF P'KAPOOK IN THIS SERIES. ( i admit it i also hate her role in Friend Zone 2 but at the end i love her character development.)
I HATE HER ROLE FOR BEING TOOOO HOMOPHOBIC (JUST LIKE TONHON'S FATHER) SHE IS CROSSING THE LINE FOR BEING HOMOPHOBIC, SHE PROUDLY SHOWS THAT BEING A GAY IS A SIN, BEING GAY IS A CRIME. I HATE AMP SO MUCH.😠

FOR P'TOPTOP AND P'MIKE, I WISH THEY SHOULD NOT INVOLVED ON THIS SERIES.
THEY DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS‼️ THEY DESERVE TO HAVE THEIR OWN SERIES WITHOUT THESE TOXIC CHARACTERS. ☹️
AND ALSO FOR P'JANHAE AND THE P'NEO THEY ALSO DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS.

FOR P'KHAOTUNG AND P'PODD
THEY DON'T HAVE ANY CHEMISTRY ATLEAST 10% TBH. ALTHOUGH OUT THEY ARE SO CUTE TO WATCH ON SOME EPISODE SPECIALLY P'KHAOTUNG BUT STILL THEY ARE NOT A WATCHABLE BL COUPLE TO WATCH OUT FOR.
YEAH TONHON AND CHONLATEE END UP TOGETHER IN THE END BUT YOU WOULDN'T FEEL HAPPY OR IN-LOVE THAT THEY END UP TOGETHER.
P'PODD IS FOR P'FLUKE ONLY. 😉

OVERALL I DIDN'T HATE THE SERIES THAT MUCH LIKE THE OTHERS BECAUSE SOMEHOW IT'S ENTERTAINING BUT THIS SERIES DOESN'T HAVE A REWATCH VALUE LIKE SOTUS TOL AND OTHER THAI BL SERIES (EXCEPT IF YOU'RE A FAN OF THE CAST)
THE STORY, THE PACING WAS TOO TOXIC TO WATCH.

ATLEAST THEY TRIED THEIR BEST TO MAKE IT. 🙃

and i wish that this would be the last time that GMMTV and AisPlay produce this kind of series. 😉

Wow! I don't know if it's called aging, but seems like what people like nowadays, just don't feel right with my taste. It's not that I watched this from a recommendation though, and now looking at the hyped in comment section, really makes me feel old. ROFL

First of all, just want to be clear that I like this drama, but not to the point calling it masterpiece. Very far from being the funniest drama I have ever seen too.

To me the attraction of this drama lies in the retrospective time-frame the event took place. That's to be expected from a 90's manga's remake! Just love the fashions, hairstyle, makeup and even some terms that no longer being used in drama like "Tsuppari". Credit to production team for making such a retro drama. It would have been a lot easier to make historical than a retro in my opinion, because it's easy to messed up with the technological fact i.e phone, computer, etc.

As far as the comedy drama concern, I have a mixed feeling. First, the "anime-like-episodic" approach is cool IMO. The slapstick comedy was overdone in some, but still acceptable and entertaining. What I'm not a fan of was that kind of moment when you already get the joke, but they keep over-explaining it (not necessarily lingual) until it feels not funny anymore. I noticed this same style was also in Mr. Nietzsche, which I lose interest after episode 1. However, the adlib and mumbling from Sato Jiro was excellent to be fair.

For acting, don't watch this drama if you're not a fan of Kaku Kento's MJ-like moves. Hahaha... Thanks to that, I feel Taiga was less overacting, if you know what I mean.

The other good thing about this drama is it's full of fighting scene and action. This alone made up for the so-so comedy and the hyperactive Kaku Kento.

All in all, good drama but definitely not that funny (at least to me). This is however highly recommended if you're:
1. Looking for inspiration of 80's fashion
2. Love high school drama
3. Want to see fight scene in every episode

Don't judge a book by it's cover

When I first came across this show on an Asian drama Facebook group, I thought it must have been some sort of joke or meme, especially when reading the synopsis. However, my mind changed the moment I watched the first episode. At first glance, this should have been some sort of crazy Thai lakorn, but it isn't. The story and the characters have a lot of solid development, the acting was great, the visual effects of the magic were great.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series, and wished that it was a bit longer. I loved that this show was so unique in it's story, despite laughable at first glance. As a bubble tea/boba lover, I simply got onto this thinking it might be a fun and hilarious story, but what I found instead was the magic (pun intended) in the story. The story has so much heart, and I loved that there was actually some life lessons built into the episodes.

What was also so different about the story is that there isn't really a first or second male lead, although there technically is one. I guess what I mean to say is that there is no stereotype plot of either male lead being a complete a-hole, though I think some may disagree that Light, who, by the way is the first male lead, was an a-hole to Modem in several moments throughout the show. But, all in all, I found myself in love with the first male lead even more than the second male lead, which is hard to find in a Kdrama, and even less in Asian dramas in general. And this applied to all the characters. I felt such an attachment to all the characters, from Auntie Shell and Uncle Hoy, to Wifi (Modem's little brother), and Modem's sidekick friends Up, Oor and Yogurt - they were all lovable.

The villain in this story also gained a lot character development, though overall, I still dislike her because of what she did to the main lead (Modem). However, she gained my respect with her overall development and this is something that is also pretty hard to find in any Asian drama as the villains almost rarely get a chance at redemption or even just a solid character development.

One thing, however, that did disappoint me a little, was the little use and mention of magic. The synopsis makes it seem as if magic takes full center in the entire series, but, after a couple of episodes and Modem finds all the magic pearls that she accidentally lets loose into the world, it's put onto a back burner, until we find out that Boss (played by 2PM's Nickhun), who we find out plays the role of Cupid and is a literal angel, who Modem has technically known since she was a kid. And later, we find out the magic counsel wants to punish Modem for releasing the magic pearls and letting magic be known to the world. All of this happens in the last couple of episodes and feels quite a bit rushed in my opinion. I wholeheartedly felt that they could have done more with the magic, since it was emphasized (in my opinion) in the synopsis of the story. The development of this could have been better, such as answering questions about how Auntie Shell became a witch - was she born with it, did she gain the powers, etc. - but such questions are pretty much unanswered. As such, maybe a spinoff show about Auntie Shell, her magic and the world she might have came from would be nice.

All in all, this is definitely a series I would definitely recommend watching. Even if this was just one big advertisement for bubble tea, I wouldn't have minded at all, since I'm an avid bubble tea lover. The story being as good as it was, was just a huge advantage, and I think it will probably make anyone who has never heard of bubble tea or had it before want to try it. Bubble tea is magical, and the show literally went with this idea, turning something so cliche into a literal magical work of art. Please don't judge this show based on the plot, or else you will miss out on a gem, or should I say a pearl?

If you want to see a Kdrama which really deserves the name 'drama' then King 2 Hearts is definitely a good choice! King 2 Hearts is an amazing romance story, very different from rom-coms, with amazing chemistry, great music and an interesting story with drama, tragedy and joy.

Positive:
-Since I don't like dramas where every action lasts for some hours I'm very pleased with King2Hearts. Occurances and actions were held in a acceptable time and you could watch the drama without getting tired.
-The acting of the cast was absolutely great. Sometimes I did not like decisions which the characters made however the cast acted so well that I sometimes really forgot that they are just acting^^
-I really really liked the costumes and the props. Such things like the uniforms of the officers or of the royalty made the drama believeable and it also went well with the modern props
-The background music is absolutely amazing. The music supports to deliver the feelings of the persons even more and I had to cry and to laugh more than just a few times

Negative:
-For me it was quite difficult to distinguish between "an actor acting" and "an actors acts that his character acts" especially with Hang Ah (if you don't understand what I mean with this point please don't mind it)

Other:
- If you cry easily...get a pack of tissues ready because you are going to bawl your eyes out with all the crying
- The rewatch value is really high because I just re-watched it in 2015 and I really think this drama is still as good as the first time when you watch it again :D

- Overall: I think this drama is a MUSTWATCH!!!! Many may say that this is not true but I think it's not the same as many many others so its important to see something new^^
Also this is the perfect choice if you ever wanted to see an epic love story in a Kdrama because it's all about that, action scenes and drama.

(That's my first review so don't be too hard on me, please -_-)

Sassy Liu Ling meet Serious Shen Yan

I knew the miminute I watch the FL Liu Ling; played by Bin Yan struggle to not get out of bed due to the music playing because its her birthday I knew I was going to like it. She meets Shen Yan; played by Ye Cheng in the least likely place and knew from a poem prose (she recites) that he could wake up the humdrum in her life. Wanting to get away from her father and stepmother she follows Shen Yan to Yichen. From there all things gets good. While Liu Ling is sassy Shen Yan is very serious he is all business and serious at his role but slowly they fall in love. Not giving too much of anything away my favorite moments is the rikety bridge of death where love is compared to the heaven, Liu Ling grandfather, all his scenes, he loves his grandaughter, Shen Yu; Shen Yan brother (i love his wind whisperersand eye brows- he is adorable and witty) and Liu Ling Shen Yan wedding ceremony. I am glad I watched this. It was all the right substance I needed in Cdramaland. I needed a break from the politics and scheming you'd get from a palace drama (dont get me wrong they can be good, when done correctly) Great casting and storyline, this was a refreshingly light drama.

Omg it was sooooo cute!!
I got a bit lost in the story around ep 5/6 , but overall it was quite nice. I think that the crew did what they could, since the series was so short (approximately an hour overall) and it is a cdrama after all. The production was quite good too, I was just a bit confused about the clothing and why they didn't change it.
The actors also did a great job and both of the leads were so prettyyy; I am unashamedly simping for shifu and I really need a top like her in my life! I wouldn't be surprised if I rewatch this like ten times.

Healer is my #1 favorite drama. It is so romantic, with sharp dialogue, great action scenes, fast-paced, intriguing plot, slick cinematography. It will hook you in the first episode and make you swoon over and over again. Anyone who likes action and romance will love this. The main couple has really great chemistry and lots of cute and romantic scenes together. The Healer is the coolest character ever - owing to Ji Chang Wook's wonderful acting. He made his character come alive - cool, tough, resourceful, lonely, vulnerable, bumbling, loving, gentle - from one scene to the next. Yeoung Shin - the female lead is beautiful and extremely likable, cute, and gutsy. There are several really funny and endearing supporting characters like the Healer's boss and the father. My only small complaint may be that the villains and their evil motives were not as developed as the rest of the drama. But the rest of it was so good I didn't really mind.

I enjoyed this show, BUT....

Like everyone else, I think it could have been done better too. The central plot has a lot of potential, because there's something so very unsettling about religious horror. It's just that most of the storylines were half-baked, including the main one, and had they given it atleast two more episodes, they could've done justice to the story.

I really had a problem with the lack of lore exploration. I would like to bring about some comparison with the movie 'Svaha'. Svaha also had a similar Buddhist outline, and did pretty well in terms of lore exploration, enough to have us creeped out, but ultimately failed when executing its final act to combat the supposed root of evil. Monstrous on the other hand executed its final act to combat the spirit well, but it was unsatisfactory because, other than the fact that the Buddha statue was haunted, we were provided with little to no information on the 'whys' and 'hows' of the statue: Why did a holy statue built under the jurisdiction of a Buddhist temple get possessed? How strong was this measly con-man, so much so that he could possess a BUDDHA statue, and require a super powerful monk's help to seal it's energy? Was something inherently wrong with the statue beforehand? Who lived to tell this tale so that Ki-Hoon could identify the rain as Monstrous rain? How did Ki-Hoon know about the mysterious protection symbol? I'm sure no ordinary Buddhist historian could just whip that out of their text books. I could go on, and could definitely say the same for the other storylines, especially with regards to the crazy gangster man, the crime that put him in jail, and how he came to be so insanely crazy. The relationships between characters other than that of the main leads were also abandoned due to time restraints: the cop and her kid, the kid and the gangster guy and the gangster guy and the cop. AND what on earth happened to the rest of village during the aftermath, considering the fact that more than half of it's population got decimated? So many plotholes. An episode or two to explore these would have made the show deeper and intense, leaving a dreadful feeling behind. Similarly, plotlines that required suspense, like revealing who the spirit may have been, were easily evaded and handed to us on a platter due to TIME RESTRAINTS once again.

To be honest, this lack of lore is what led to the show leaving but a little impression, despite stellar performances by the leads. Since the show heavily leans on Buddhism, which has a rich historical background, there are many precedents or stories in its ancient texts that can serve as a basis for a well-rounded possession storyline. Compare this to Hellbound, in which the events that take place have no precedent or historical background, which justifies the lack of lore and the unfolding of new information gradually over 8 episodes.

However, I was impressed with the bird scene. Put me on the edge of my seat. That scene is what Birdemic should have been, but alas.

I get the direction this show is going in. If my guess is correct, this may be an anthology series (much like the Conjuring movies, with Ed and Lorraine Warren at the helm), with Ki-Hoon and Soo-Jin facing other monstrosities every season. The new one looks like it would touch upon aliens and whatnot.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed the show for what it is. If only it had been fleshed out better.

The color blue will go down in history as the best one

10/10 doesn't do justice to "Our Blues" in my opinion. I started this show intrigued with the first storyline presented, not knowing i was gonna get attached and enjoy every single story and character through out the 20 episodes. I don't want to sound like a broken record so i will structure my review in 4 parts: Favorite aspects of the show, favorite storylines, favorite episodes and why i think its a must watch in general.

1) Favorite aspects of the show:

- The cinematography takes you to the world presented and makes you feel like you are in there. The colors not only help represent the moods, feelings and plot points that are being shown, but also creates a particular environment that screams Jeju.

- The pacing of each episode and different storylines. It's so well paced that each hour and so feels lo well constructed, never boring and so engaging. Each storyline is kind of divided with each one having around 2-4 episodes depending on its importance to the progression of the show. No matter big or small, all storylines and moments are given 100% care.

- The writing and very realistic dialogue. One of thing i hate about kdramas is how unrealistic sometimes the dialogue feels. In Our Blues, each line hits but not to the point that it feels pretentious or snobby. The way each character has their own story or is connected to a particular point feels so well structured and never messy. It all comes down to a town in which almost everyone knows each other but each of them have different connections.

- The acting. Some of the best acting i've seen in years, the actors truly gave it their all and made us feel like those situations were happening to us in some capacity. There is such a strong accentuation on acting through expressions and silence, that not a lot of dramas can pull off, Our Blues does that to perfection. Special shout out to the actors Lee Byun Hun, Kim Woo Bin, Lee Jung Eun, Kim Hye Ja and Go Doo Shim.

- I could honestly list the whole show as my favorite aspects of it so i'll stop here lol.

2) Favorite Storylines:

3) Favorite episodes: 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20. (almost all lol)

4) Why i think it's a must watch for everyone:

I can't believe how a lot of people on twitter said this show was boring or something like that, im sorry but their opinions are wrong lol. This show has better pace than most shows that seem "fun" or "entertaining" to most kdrama stans. It gives you an insight on different perspectives of different age groups of people, I feel like so little dramas are able to achieve that. It's objective is not to the audience a lesson or preach anything, they want you to be able to enjoy and understand how life can be for so many people that reside in a singular place. Also, its a gorgeous example of well done cinema/tv that anyone interested in it should learn from.

Our Blues, one of the best kdramas of all time in my opinion.

Love it or Hate it

I feel like this is one of those dramas you either love or hate. On one hand, I found it entertaining. On the other hand, the plot was full of holes. It's a fish out of water story that involves a Joseon girl time traveling to modern day Korea. Unlike most leads in a fish out of water plot, FL is a quick study and adapts to modern life very quickly to the point that it's kind of unrealistic (but so is time travel so who am I to say anything). I found this drama to be mediocre, especially with the business succession part of the drama. However, I loved the cast, especially the lead actress (Lee Se Young). The main couple was also very cute together, but how they meet and fall in love is a bit clichĂŠ. The outfits were one of my favorite things about this drama. FL's outfits were simply gorgeous. I also loved the dorky secondary couple who acted as comedic relief. The last few episodes were a bit draggy which lowered my rating a bit. It's not a bad watch and even entertaining if you shut your brain off and enjoy the show. They even throw in a few good twists. Don't ask me how or if they make sense. I personally was satisfied with the ending, although I know a lot of people were disappointed. They certainly leave a lot of loose ends.
