BACK TO THE PAST CHALLENGE 2023

We are back with Back To The Past Challenge again this year. Original idea of this challenge belongs to Rien. I took over because I don’t want this amazing challenge to go off. Goal of this challenge is to make you familiar with older Dramas/Movies.

The basic idea of this challenge is to watch Dramas/Movies in chronological order without missing a year, until your heart is pleased. For more info check rules and instructions.

Like previous years there will be a custom badge for the people who finish the challenge within the time frame. This year there is a change in pattern of the challenge. I ought to make this challenge similar to Snakes and Ladder Game (I hope everyone is familiar). 

This is an open challenge, with no Stars or difficulty levels unlike previous challenge. I'm new to this so I hope you enjoy being part of it. Any suggestions are welcome.

To understand clearly, 

I'm pretty sure if you zoom in, you will be able to see clearly. If not, use this document.

1. Join the challenge by filling the Sign-up form given below.

2. Start from the year 2023 and go back until you want to stop.
                         For ex – 2023>>>2022>>>2021>>>2020.

3. For the theme of every title you watch, you have to follow the game board. Details on how the game board works is given below.

4. Every title must be new to you, unless stated otherwise.

5. You have to finish every title you use for this challenge.

6. You can’t skip a year for example if you want to watch from 2011 till 2023 and haven’t watched anything from the year 2016 then it will be invalid (It will then only count from 2017-2023).

7.  Only titles that you have watched this year (From January 1, 2023 till December 31, 2023) must be added.

8.  After you complete your challenge, you can message me or post on FAQ Feed.

11. DO NOT ask Questions in this Thread.

12. Post your challenge in this thread only once and make edits when necessary.

1. This game is similar to Snakes & Ladders but with 64 blocks.

2. Each block on the board has 2 options to choose from.

3. First title you have to choose on your own. {Say you chose - Agency(2023)}

4. Then, look at the Public rating of the previous title you have watched. {Here, Agency - 8.2}

5. Sum the public rating till you reach a one digit number.  {Here, 8+2=10 -> 1+0=1}

6. Move on the board by the number obtained {Here 1}, choose one option from the given. {Say you chose to watch Netflix original}

7. Watch the next title from 2023 (if you choose to watch 2 titles per year) or 2022, in this example which should be a Netflix original. {Say A Business Proposal(2022)}. Look for ratings again and move on to the next year.

7. Keep going similarly for the rest of the challenge, until the year you choose to stop at.

8. You have to move up or down the arrows wherever indicated, just like snakes & ladders.

9. If you cannot find any title, for the given options esp. for older years, you can use replacements given below.

10. You may or may not be able to reach the end of the game, that depends on many factors like how many years you are going back, how many titles you'll watch, and also the sum of digits of ratings.

11. If you reach the end once, but you wish to continue to go back further, you can start the game again from the year you left at. {Say, After completing game once you reach year 2010, but you wish to go to year2000, you can start game again from year 2009 following same rules.}

12. If you are able to reach the end of the game (Once/Twice/Thrice that depends), you'll get a special badge. If not, then like previous years you'll get the custom badge for participation with the number of titles(years) you have watched.

** Say you are on year 2011, but you can't find title matching any of the option, then you can switch options (Block) with any previous year you have watched (2012-2023), just that you have to go back to that block.
