Great article! I love how this drama breaks down so many boundaries!
Thanks a lot! Indeed! Lately i like what tvN's doing, both Valid Love and Heart to Heart (and Misaeng from what i've read since i haven't watched it yet) have a more down to earth approach on its dramas, in a different environment, more common daily people oriented. It shakes the pompous world of dramas with meaningful simplicity. It's a small revolution for the SK entertainment.
From my experience, people who strictly only watch dramas from one country and claim to dislike every other country's…
It's fictional nationalism, you don't live there, you've never been there, you know about there through dramas and what you read and it turns into an obsession and a feeling of superiority for 'that' country emerges and the vibe "had i belonged to that nationality blablablablabla". It's an artsy, less dangerous and less deranged equivalent of a neonachee whose nationality isn't the one it should be, but still obsesses himself over these "ideals" with religious worship according to the model. On a far lesser scale of course, lol, it's a hypothetical parallel.
The thing that pisses me off everytime: people who claim they don't like a certain genre or type of show but they…
I see where the no-melos derives from, judging from the specific schtrumf XD j/k chingu :D For some reason i don't know when i see Hotel King and Secret Hotel i think they are the same drama -.- But i agree on the drops of wisdom in everything you said 8)
I m surprised how Mydramalist allowed this article
Pointing out a problem is always part of the solution, keeping up the ostrich effect it maintains the problem's current status and eventually worsens it.

It gets ridiculous from a moment and on that you start questioning yourself why such meaningless people are part of your life, even a little bit of it :P

Yes, that's really sick! They're happy for their singer when the singer is sad or is near-exhaustion to fulfill his schedule and they're sad when he's actually happy by the side of his girlfriend, it's reverse psychology in its worst aspect.
After the thin red line is crossed, i mind the comments and it depends on my mood :P YES! they either complain that there's nothing good to watch OR they keep watching things and they complain that they watched 10 movies lately for example and they complain that all of them were a piece of rotten tomatoes, either situation is always against you if you propose something and it usually goes this way, they talk as if they've been watching dramas for years and they're on a break now where in fact they haven't watched anything at all. Humanity always has a way to leave us speechless XD

Up to the stress part of your sentence, if they do it secretly in their room that's just fine, the aftermath is the painful part and it's being inflicted upon us all :P From masochists they turn to sadists lol. Yeah, there are a few here, but MDL is paradise compared to other forums XD At least one of them always manages to escape your eyes' security and pops up out of nowhere and then... :P

The kpop hate is on another planetary climax! The hate in the comments makes you wonder whether these people have at least a single braincell or not! It's really of scientific importance how easily one of them can wish to the opposing side to simply die or an idol to die etc lol!
As for the first paragraph, i haven't reached yet the point of ignoring them, i pretty much hate them because they get intentionally on your nerves. For once, OK, it's kind of amusing, twice too, thrice maybe, but then it becomes tiring, meaningless and mentally ill :P

I wasn't specific, i was referring to the second category through aspects of the first one, if that makes any sense. But yes, it's ravenous, i can't find any logic in that behavior, unless they find pleasure watching all the dramas whose genre they hate and while they're watching they're bashing along the way and they have fun lol. Masochistic, i know, but it's the only logical explanation i can find. And then, you, me and other like-minded duderinos and dudettes find themselves in the eye of the storm as the spit their nonsense. I try to ignore them and i'm so glad it's been some time i dealt with something like that! My drama zen mode is on.

It's probably because they want to feel like completing the void of their hate and doing some justice to their words and reactions. And by that i mean that they enter a mode of completing something they don't like in the first place, but once they started it they must end it, even by fast-forwarding the scenes. And at that point they think they have reached a conclusion of righteous weight. In fact it's bee poop on the petals of a late autumn flower that starts losing its petals and the poop along with the petal end up on the barren soil to become natural fertilizer. It's part of the circle of life, it's just happening, but you can ignore it. The thing is, you can't always ignore it and the more you deal with it the more pissed off you become and in the end you only ruin your mood for some hater's attitude while the hater pretty much enjoys what he/she's doing.
I think my only general criticism of Asian dramas, wherever they hail from, is a very small and somewhat humorous…
I feel what you're saying, from the moment a Caucasian duderino or babushka appears in an Asian drama i want to fall in Mt. Fuji's volcanic mouth. The only user-friendly one i have found so far was in Pinocchio under Dal Po's taxi service and that's because he was a scared to death hipster weirdo.
Good points on audience-cliche hate|"hate"-matters. Haters will be born in North Korea in their next life as fate's attempt to stop them from watching dramas of their "purified" preference and bashing the "opposing" side. Kim Yong Un's psychic powers will make it happen. Otherwise, Kim Yong Il will enlist them in heaven's KPA.
I would have recommanded "May 18" instead of "26 years".
May 18 has reached perfection to my eyes. They might hold the same arch theme, but they're different, the one is reality, the other one is fiction as a hypothetical fist of justice in order to never forget. But if someone has already seen May 18, May 18 26 years later is a welcome fictional addition. It depends on where the proposal focuses its direction. It serves its purpose well though. Just my two cents for no reason :P
26 Years is a powerful movie and i highly enjoyed the interactions between the figures' stories and the way they connect their past at the present. I would have definitely done the same had i been in their shoes, dictators must end like dictators should, like a mere shadow of their shameful past. Crucible and Broken are in my vast plan-to-watch list! Burdened choices for weekend, but who said weekend must be always happeh? ;D Thanks for the article!

EDIT: May 18 is one of my favorite movies.
