I'm glad he had a lot of fans from KnK! :D He's such a lovely guy too irl.. I hope he gets a lot more main roles…
Yes, I'm also hoping to see him in many other roles and another rom-com please!!
Waiting for Black Pean to finish airing so I can see him there.

Title Final Cut
This drama's plot was very weak and the romance was incomprenhensible. But at least is not Kame's worst drama in my list since I had previously dropped 2 of his dramas (Sommelier and 1 Pound Gospel). Also I do recommend using the subs from Haikusociety on livejournal, since they are more accurate than the ones on d-addicts which are the ones that are also being used on streaming sites.

Love him in that!! At that time I was hoping that Sho's role would help him get more male lead's characters (in…
That's right! He definitely is a good actor.

Atashinchi no Danshi was the role made me like him, even though I first saw him in Nodame Cantabile (by the way I'm wondering why OldAnimeLady refers to the movies as spin-off's?).
I would also recommend watching Akira to Akira, he was also outstanding in that role.

:) Atashinchi no Danshi as Sho!!! :) One of his best roles!!! :) Old but classic and above all, timeless! :)
Love him in that!! At that time I was hoping that Sho's role would help him get more male lead's characters (in rom-com's), but well that didn't happened.

Title Unnatural
Between the death of a student (ep7) and the death of an ex-convict (ep8), the drama really churned up the tear-jerking…
I totally agree with you ep 7, 8 and 10 made me cry T.T

This is one of the reasons I'm fine with spoilers, because when I start getting doubts about continuing a drama I can ask/search for spoilers and decide if it's worth continuing it or it's better to drop it.

Is it just me who find it very interesting that the MYSTERY/CRIME genre turned out to be the second highest favorite…
In my opinion for mystery/crime dramas is harder to drop them since you want to find out how the mystery/crime is resolved, so in my case I want to reach to that final episode and see the outcome. And speaking of romance/comedy it's easier to drop them since you know the OTP will end together at the end or there will be a happy ending so you really have to have a big interest in the plot development in this genre in order to continue watching.

I really like Wada Masato so I'm glad he made this list! When I first got in to live action Japanese things first…
I agree with you, it's nice seeing older actors getting the spotlight after several years of being in the industry.
For Mackenyu, the first drama I saw him in was Aogeba Toutoshi (which I highly recommend for the story in general not so much for Mackenyu), but I really like him in Todome no Kiss he's definitely getting better.

you got me really curious about these shows! I hope I can find a way to watch some of them :)
You can find most of them raw online if you search by the date and name (preferably in japanese). And for subbed episodes the best option is to look in livejournal communities. For Shabekuri episodes I use this site http://japanvarietyshow.com/
For Arashi shows you can check this index: https://gonindeiru.livejournal.com/

And this is the reason I'm in the drama world!! I started watching dramas thanks to HanaDan. I loved reading mangas and HanDan was one of my favorites I like it so much that I just couldn't resist and watch everything out there involving this story. So I watched the anime first and then I went for the Japanese version (my favorite one ever!!! MatsuJun is the perfect Tsukasa they are a match made in heaven), then I watched Meteor Garden (this one followed the manga closely so all the guys that hang around Tsukushi were really there on the source material) after that when the Korean and Chinese version came out I went straight to watching them. I like the extravagance that's shown on Boys over flowers I think this one is the one with the higher budget. I'm only missing Moon River (but since the story changes the F4 and also Tsukushi's character I'm not really interested on it)

I do not recommend watching Meteor Garden 2 since it doesn't have anything to do with the original story and it deviates a lot from the character's personalities, specially Tuskasa's.

I'm getting ready to watch the new Meteor Garden!! I know I'll end up watching Hana nochi hare though I will definitely miss seeing the F4 and Makino (glad they will have Tuskasa's cameo at least)

Thanks for the article, really like reading your POV about this enormous franchise. I think the only one that can compare to this in terms of size is the Itazura na kiss franchise.

I actually liked him in BG though he's not really a good character there. He's also kawaii in Buko Unmei No Hito…
I wrote this before watching BG, but I just finished it and I also liked his character, he had good scenes with Kimura.

Nice article! helping shed some light to the subbing process :)
(I just want to add something concerning this line: "An example is that Spanish sentence structure is closer to Japanese than English." I'm a Spanish native speaker and had been learning Japanese for 10 years now; and Japanese structure is not closer to Spanish than it can be to English. Japanese sentence structure is very peculiar and I really don't know if there's any language that is close to it out there)

Good and entertaining story, though I guessed correctly who the villain was. It felt this was filmed in one go as if it was a movie, due to the strange cuts at the end of some episodes. But it was beautifully filmed, I really the Hokkaido scenes. Overall it was a nice ride gave it a 8.5/10.
