If you are hesitating to watch this at all, please....just throw out your reservations and watch this. Goblin has just made my favorites list. Even my husband got sucked in and loves this show. The cinematography was gorgeous, the music was amazing, the actors were perfect (Hello, Gong Yoo!), the story was heartbreakingly beautiful.

This is the first time I've watched any of the main actors except Yoo In Na. I have read more now officially developed a Gong Yoo crush and understand why drama fans are enamored of him. Gong Yoo as Kim Shin/ Goblin was mesmerizing. I could listen to his voice for days. Every scene he was in was a treat. Every emotion that his character had was palpable, and his smiles could light up the sky.
And Kim Go Eun as Ji Eun Tak was super cute. She had a lot of detractors and the writer got a lot of flak for making her so young. But the character and her age were perfect for this story and how it unfolded.
Lee Dong Wook as the Grim Reaper had the perfect deadpan (heh) delivery. And he may be the best male "crier" I've seen yet.

The story will make you laugh and make you cry. Not only is the love story epic, but so is the bromance between Goblin and Reaper. I've found that I'm quite fond of this fantasy genre and this has been done so well. I have hardly any criticisms of this show at all because even the flaws faded into nothing noticeable for me. It's sweet, funny, romantic, sad, tragic, beautiful...

The music was perfect and perfectly lovely. I don't always pay much attention to the music, but this show utilized it so well and chose the perfect songs. So many people loved even the intro song that they made a special recording of it to make it a full length song (Round and Round, but may also be found under Never Far Away). Beautiful by Crush was the best song in my opinion, and I believe that it was the theme song for our main couple. And Stay With Me by Chanyeol and Punch was another favorite.

Rewatch value is high - if not everything, then there are many, many favorite scenes that I'll go back to and relive the feels. :)

Somewhere inside Goblin, buried under a mound of PPL and tears, is a good show trying to get out. The first two episodes suggest what might have been, deftly mixing intense action and off-beat humor in a dark world filled with ominous reapers, wounded goblins, ghost-seeing teenagers and cabbage-wielding grannies. The stage seems set for a life and death clash of epic proportions. Alas, it soon becomes apparent that the writer forgot read more to include an antagonist. The goblin-reaper face-off devolves into a chummy bromance, leaving “fate” to play the role of spoiler. Unfortunately, it’s hard to fight disembodied destiny. Whole episodes are spent weeping in pretty scenery and eating Subway sandwiches. The talented cast tries to up the urgency, but with nothing tangible to battle, the pacing slows to a crawl. The extended episode lengths and the director’s tendency to linger a little too long on every moment exacerbate the problem. Even the romance falters on the uncomfortable age gap between the protagonists.

Every so often. interesting ideas pop up about guilt, redemption, and the role of kindness in a cosmos more random than rewarding. Alas, the fickle gods that rule this universe stay above the fray. A drama that actually allowed its characters to take them on rather than simply lamenting their cruelty could have been powerful indeed.

The idea is the same, a man with supernatural powers meets his love, through twists of fate. Their relationship develops as hardships appear along the way.

The lead is incredibly attractive and mesmerizing in both dramas, there's no one who will remain indifferent. Goblin has a "shy" lead while "The Bride of Habaek" portraits a very caring God who supports his Bride in those moments where she most needs it.

Both dramas contain life-threatening situations where the men save this bride is the most coolest way possible. The drama will hook you from the first episode.

Lastly, the soundtrack is GOOD! (the Goblin soundtrack has already become a hit :).
In conclusion: if you like dramas where the leading man is a strong, handsome (even sexy), powerful, with a God-like attitude and at the same time very gentle God - these both are not ones not to be missed!

The Day After We Broke Up is a lot less comedic than Goblin but it has a very similar supernatural/magical tone to it.

You'll know what I mean once you watch it.

My first korean drama! I got so hooked, but I found the main story with the Goblin and Eun Tak boring after the second half, I mainly loved the drama for the acting, the story and the character of the Grim Reaper more than any other characters.
Oh, and I thought the ending was weak compared to all the rest...

I don't know why, I am already in episode 6, but I am not that hooked with Goblin. I started watching reply 1997 (my first reply series) at the same time, but it seems that I enjoy it more, before I knew it the (reply 1997)drama is already done. I do not usually watch 2 dramas simultaneously, But I did it to shake off the slump from Goblin (because I know it is a good series, and I should enjoy it, I have high expectation for it), and I really picked a different genre from Goblin so I will not get saturated with fantasy and magic.

Do not get me wrong, Goblin was made beautifully, the filter, the cinematography, the effects, the OST, the Slow mo moments, it is so dramatic, all the actors are cute. I guess what's not working for me is the plot? So far at episode 9, it is like a cinderella story with peculiar and cute deities instead of princes and fairy god mother. I don't know. I will find time to continue watching, hopefully it will get better for me. Anyway I am really enjoying the second leads' romance.

I plan on becoming a film major and just after finishing the last episode of Goblin, all I could think about is how I wish this TV show was something I created LOL I give it to the writer Kim Eun-Sook and the director Lee Eung-Bok for creating such a masterpiece! What you find out in episode 12 and then the ending to episode 13 just wow! Honestly such an amazing show.

Also BEST OST's EVER! After I finished the show I could not stop listening to Who Are You by Sam Kim bc of episode 12, Stuck in Love by Kim Kyunghee bc its just really catchy and sweet, and And I'm Here by Kim Kyunghee bc its sad as HECK LOL. Those were just a few but I'm in love with ALL the songs.

If you're debating watching this show. Stop. Just go watch it if you love romance and very unique and intricate storylines. Rarely do you ever see a storyline this clever imo!

The drama in itself is very good, but it sins in a few moments and left holes of script, I did not find the performance of the reaper good, very shallow and without anything captivating, being sincere what I liked the most was the performance of Yoo In Na (best Character from far away) and the Osts.

There's always an influx of negative comments on this page. It's almost like it's orchestrated lolol. But no worries, it's still rated a 9.1, which means the negative comments are just from a loud minority :)

One word that could describe the concept of this story is Beautiful. The cinematography for was me was the best but I find the last episodes to be so draggy, complicated and dramatic. I wish they could have created a more happy ending. But anyways, this was still worth to watch.
