“Drama is life with the dull parts left out.” -Alfred Hitchcock

"One of the greatest things drama can do, at it's best, is to redefine the words we use every day such as love, home, family, loyalty and envy. Tragedy need not be a downer." -Ben Kingsley

"We respond to a drama to that extent to which it corresponds to our dreamlife." -David Mamet

"Everyone sees drama from his own perspective." -Jean-Marie Le Pen

The Introo1. I've been watching Asian dramas/movies all my life!

o2. I definitely consider myself a real drama/movie addict, which is a VERY bad thing.

o3. You know you're addicted when you actually have "burn out" moments from watching so many.
Drama for Thought:Judging a drama by its cast is like judging a book by its cover. Which I won’t deny.. I judge ‘a book’ by its ‘cover’ quite a bit. :p (but granted, actors that I like have created some great masterpieces, worthy of watching for me).
Rating Style: I rate a DRAMA according to how much I enjoyed it, how much it engaged me, moved, inspired, educated me etc.

Dramas I that rate 10 are usually those with a high re-watch value for me. There are no dramas that I find perfect, but I rate according to how much of their flaws I can overlook because of everything else that makes up for it (i.e. cliché storyline = excellent acting/chemistry makes up for it).

I rate a MOVIE as a whole. Directions, acting, chemistry, artistic, storyline, characters, growth, lessons etc. so I'm sometimes a little harder on movies.

First Hong Kong Drama: The Return of the Condor Heroes (1983)

  1. 1800 characters remaining Spoiler?

Haha, a child and you already find him cute. xD My parents disagree with his sexual orientation so I get very little about him, unless he's overshadowed by another actor or actress. But I remember his acting, that speaks for itself he has talent. Not many actors or actresses have permanant stay in my memories, Maggie Cheung and Anita Mui being the ones I also remember; those already famous ones.
Noticed you like Golden Faith, it was good but I found the opening irritating.

All I can really say is you should definitely stop through Beijing - it will probably take at least a few days to get through everything there. So much history and things to see in that area (Summer Palace, Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, Yuan Ming Yuan, Olympic Bird's Nest/Water Cube, etc). I'm not sure exactly who you will be travelling with or your particular interests, but I would actually recommend the Beijing Zoo XD. I went for kicks and was fairly surprised by the size of it.

Just be prepared for probably some of the worse on-road driving and manners you will ever see though. It makes LA traffic look nice and civil. I think I heard more horns in one day there than I ever heard in my entire life :|. Take care crossing streets, I usually just followed other people when crossing, because quite frankly, I still have no idea how to cross the street there as sad as it may sound.

Haha! My word could be subjective but thanks for the thought. ^^ You could try Mr. Coconut, it's my favourite.
Oh, and is that Leslie Cheung? xD I noticed him as your number 1 before but, sadly, I can't recall many of his roles, only in Aces Go Places 5(I liked his role there too). But I still remember his looks were enough to buy me into any show, or was it his acting...?

Oooh nice :D. I agree this place isn't the most exciting place, but still, new environment to look around xD. I traveled through China and HK for about a month before flying into Singapore.

Sounds fun though, hope you have a good time :D
  • Phraze Apr 17, 2013
Ah well, thank my parents for that. ^^ And yes, Stephen Chow is awesome! I like Michael Hui and Andy Lau almost as much but their shows aren't as addictive. I seriously gotta admit though, Michael Hui beats Stephen Chow flat. xD
  • xAurorae Apr 16, 2013
Ahh, I just traveled around Asia a bit myself actually lol. I'm in Singapore at the moment. If I may ask, whereabouts are you planning to go?
  • Phraze Apr 16, 2013
TQ for the friend request~ xD Gosh, your list is out of this world. And nice to see you're contributing to the db, would like to but I've forgotten my native language in exchange for English.
  • xAurorae Apr 15, 2013
Haha, the public transportation is damn convenient, cheap food all over the streets, etc xD

How long are you planning to stay in hk?
  • xAurorae Apr 13, 2013
Ahh yeah, my dad lives in HK. My family was originally there, but let's just say I moved around quite a bit :P.

You should definitely go, it's great there :D
  • xAurorae Apr 8, 2013
Omfg I love you. You don't even know how long I've been looking for the drama title. You're the best! I'm putting up with HK airports crappy wifi to respond xD
  • xAurorae Apr 7, 2013
I haven't seen that haha. Bloody hell, you've seen so much, both dramas and movies XD.

There's actually an older HK drama I can't remember the name of it, nor can I remember the cast names lol, but I remember what the male lead looks like. I think his character name was Lei Siu Tin in canto? I'm not entirely sure T_T. Plots just basically about two brothers who grew up in different environments: poor vs rich. Their roles switch later in the drama and yada yada. Just a huge business conflict drama with the two sides trying to destroy the other. Does that ring a bell? =_=
