Honestly I have no words for this drama other than what the actually bleep were they thinking when they wrote this. The plot could have been nice if not for the fact the main girl was basically roasted left right and centre for her appearance. I'm a little cringy person that likes to hear the whole "you're the most beautiful thing I've ever seen" sorta lines, even when I know they're just plain lying, it's just nice to hear. But in this drama the girl was actually wrecked and basically called an ugly apple the entire show. The only guy that was actually nice to her was her childhood friend which sucked cause the main guy was a 10/10 in the looks department.

Basically watch this when you're having one of those days where you like it when the main guy is just genuinely an asshole and that should learn that by dating an "ugly" girl he's not saving the universe like he seems to think he is. Dunno why I took this one personally but the heroine was a lil cutie so I felt a bit bad for her.

This is my first time writing a review because this drama deserves the praise.

This has been the best K-Drama in a long time for me. The humor, the acting, the story, the music, EVERYTHING.

This story was overall, amazing. I have been looking for a drama that consists of comedy/crime and holy cow did this deliver everything I was looking for.

The acting was the best of the best for me. You could tell these actors and actresses knew what they were doing and they did it astoundingly.

But the best feature of the drama was the comedy. It wasn't cringey or mellow. It consisted of the most funniest lines and scenes I have seen in a K-Drama in a while and for that I praise the writer for this. I don't find anything funny easily but this had me laughing so hard I nearly choked on a lung.

I wasn't so much for the romance side, I felt like the were just added to fill in some gaps. Maybe not so much with Je Hyuk and Ji Ho but the relationship between Joon Ho and Je Hee was completely unnecessary to me. The drama would have still been amazing without it.

I must say though, Han-Yang (Looney) was my favourite character, not only did he make me laugh all the time, he was just open about everything but he was stupid at the most basic stuff (which is why the ending SUCKED [But I won't spoil it for people]).

The OST went well with the scenes, especially when Nostalgia by Woo Won Jae played in intense scenes.  Overall, the OST was beautiful. It had different types of genres and all of them are enjoyable.

The only downfall was the ending, I was more interested about the other characters over the main character and wanted to see more of where they ended up but unfortunately I feel like they just vanished? Became irrelevant in the end?  I would have preferred to know what happened to EVERYONE (i.e Looney, Min Chul, Kaist, Dr. Go, Jean Valjean etc.) But this is just my preference.

Overall, this drama is everything I want, need and love. I've already re-watched this and still find this to be highly entertaining. We need more incredible dramas like this in the future.

OK. To start, I must say I was iffy about this drama. I mean, how fun would a drama about prison going to be? I thought, "meh, this might be boring". But nevertheless, I clicked the play button on that first episode. Mostly because I was running low on dramas and it seemed to be having a lot of good reviews AND Jung Kyung Ho was here! So yeah...

Now, I blessed the day I started this. This drama proved me wrong so hard I fell in love with it. Haha. The stories, the acting....the bromance! Everything was just so good.
This drama had a solid enough plot to keep me going. And I found myself always craving the next episode.

The writer did a good job in making it a light enough drama by adding some comedy. Many times it had me laughing until tears were running. But then there were also parts where my heart was in my throat and I was at the edge of my seat. Especially when the main guy was in danger.

I had a complete soft spot for Looney. I found his story sweet, honestly. But it killed me a little bit inside what happened at the end. Captain Too was also calming a spot in my heart. Those bastards did him wrong! But the end of these two stories seemed a little incomplete and I wasn't that satisfied, sadly. Like what happened afterwards? I need details.

The acting was remarkable! A complete 10 for that! And the music too. My boy Eric Nam, as always, has a wonderful voice.

Overall guys, this drama is definitely worth the watch. You won't regret it.

I'm out "Mic Drop" ?

King in Love. A very painful story of how Won came to love San more than himself. I think the writer of this drama hid clues that only if you could analyze them you can understand what was really happening in the story. And, for me, Won and San has always been the main love story in the drama. The reason of all the conflicts in the drama, aside from political issues, is that Lin also fell in love with San.

I will start with Lin. I love his friendship with Won. It was wrong that he fell in love with the prince's woman. However, it was too late when he realized that he was wrong. Some of his decisions and actions were because of his feelings for San. I get this part of the story when his father, the chancellor, was lecturing about greed and lust, the father look at Lin and not at his brother. Both of them committed the same mistake of greed and lust for San (and as for Wang Jeon for position of crown prince). Lin admitted what he did was wrong during the scene at the hut, Lin apologized for falling in love with San as he get the seal from her. There are times that Lin could easily tell Won everything he has been discovering, he always just decides not tell so. And, I always hate him for that. Maybe, he's feelings for San was just affecting his decision-making.

Won is my favorite character. He is the most selfless and trusting person in the whole story. The way he saves Lin and his family all the time even we know he is starting to develop his feelings with San. He is also the smartest among all characters. I just love smarter people more. Haha. My favorite scene was when he stopped San's wedding. That was heart-stopping. Haha. If I was San, damn!

San made viewers confused on who she really has feelings. I think it was the writer and director thing. I always believed that the person she loves is Won. He loves Won so much she cannot let him lose his friend Lin. That't the focus on the beginning of the story. She was always worried of Won. And the only person that stop her from getting revenge was Won.

I always feel bad for Won. But, at the end when it is revealed that San never really left Goryeo and waited for him. Then, after 7 months he stepped down as King and left for Yuan. My imagination tells me, he went to San and had a happy life with her in Yuan.

The drama has well-defined characters, awesome cinematography, and has really depicted a very nice story of love and friendship in a very painful way. The ost was okay. Rewatch value, not so much. There were a lot of times I put this drama on-hold. Anyway, I still came to finish it.

The whole story is very deep you have dive in to understand everything. San is Won's falcon, he set her free and came back for him again at the end. :)

I like this drama a lot cause it has such an amazing cast.  One thing I love about this drama is that it did not have overloaded romance.  So if your a person who loves heavy romance then this drama is not for you. I came to watch this drama coz of Park Eun Bin but I ended up loving Yeon Woo Jin and Dong Ha. The acting of these two male leads got me hooked. Yeon woo Jin got me hypnotized with his acting and voice. Dong Ha was so good that I wish they would make a season 2 to find his own love, strength and support. The story overall was......  I don't know I just didn't like it.  I like that the female lead is trying to get her brother's name cleared but I totally didn't like the killers. I felt soo sorry for Dong Ha.   The writers could have done a better job at that.  The love triangle between the first  generation was like history repeating itself in the present generation only this time it ended right with no regrets on anyone's side.  I like how the last 3 episodes was dedicated to the main leads.  The soundtrack was not much just 3 songs, they could have added more.  On a stressful day where I want something light or just any day I would definitely watch it but not continuously. Overall I love it(for acting and justice that they seem to stress).

Before the drama came out I watched the trailer and it gave me the vibe of the music video of the song Take on Me by A-ha which I love that song. I am a huge fan of Lee Jon Suk and have seen almost all his dramas so I decided to watch it. I wasn't familiar with the main actress but when I saw her I liked her acting. I especially love the the song Where Are U by Jung Joon Young every time that song came on I knew something good was going to happen. The effects were very good especially when they transition to the real world they were nice and clean. They looked natural which is something hard to find in dramas sometimes because they look fake. The first time Lee Jon Suk's character stepped out into the main actress world was just so beautifully portrayed. I definitely enjoyed the scenes where Lee Jon Suk's character started to realize in the world he lived was not real the emotions he expressed were very believable. It certainly was very entertaining and had some funny elements especially in the first episodes the restroom scene. I won't spoil it for you guys but the people who have seen it will understand what I'm saying. Although Lee Jon Suk is a very good actor in my opinion and he has shown various expressions throughout his works. There is a specific scene more towards the end where I feel like he could have expressed his sadness more. If you have seen his earlier work I Hear Your Voice in the last two or three episodes where the main lead actress gets in trouble. He talks to the antagonist on the phone and Lee Jon Suk goes ballistic he starts screaming like mad because he is afraid and he is frustrated. He perfectly portrays someone who is caught up in a situation like  that when it involves a loved one. But here in W when that moment happens something sad happens and he talking to the main girl's father he didn't show much emotion. Especially after a moment like that when it happens to someone they show a lot of emotions. I didn't see that he fell flat for me in that scene. Other then that scene I enjoyed him greatly in the rest of the drama. I also enjoyed how people in the main girls  world people kept on commenting how he looked like a manhua character which I found rather ironic it was like fourth wall broken kind of stuff. Although the song I mentioned earlier is the only song I listen to on repeat all the time it doesn't mean I don't like the other songs. I am very obsessed with the instrumental songs. The soundtrack is very good they played the songs depending on the mood of the scene spot on. I will admit I did not care for the girl from Lee Jon Suk's world. I felt like her character was bland and I wasn't impressed they could have developed her more and given her a back bone. The  bad guy does something later that really creeps me out to the main protagonist dad that was scary to look at. When I would see it I always covered my eyes it wasn't scary per say but it was not a pretty sight and it was not a resemblance of a human. Another thing that I felt was kind of flat was the romance between the main characters. I don't really see how it happened with her yes but she technically had a part in creating Lee Jon Suk's character development and his world. But for Lee Jon Suk I don't really see it. Another thing is when he falls in love with her again I didn't enjoy how he found out again it kind of reminded me of the amnesia troupe and I have always hated that plot. Although there were a lot more reasons why I liked the drama compared to the few reasons why I didn't like it. I would not rewatch it not because I didn't enjoy rather I'm the type of person who watches dramas one time and I move. I can listen to soundtracks on repeat for days however it's rare if I rewatch a drama. Other then those factors the storyline and plot was good I enjoyed how there was some twists and turns throughout the episodes. I remember  in the last maybe one of two episodes of the final they definitely got us with a twist I was full of emotions I was scared of the ending and my heart stopped but then ewe ending up having a happy ending-ish.

I Cannot Hug You was AMAZING! I really love it. It's a feel good drama that is short, sweet and to the point. The story is good. I"m pretty curious to see what kind of direction it will take in season 2. It has some very nice romance along with some great comedy that totally made me laugh out loud. Zhang Yu Xi as "Li Shiya" i thought was a very good and likeable character. She's a funny girl with a wild imagination and can be naughty at times. The soundtrack was good. Two tracks really stuck out to me that I've listened to over and over again. I cannot wait for season 2! I highly recommend it!

I was so excited when I heard about this drama getting released because 1)Lee Jong Suk is my absolute favorite actor and 2)this is his last drama before military enlistment and I'm gonna miss him tons during those 2 years.
I am always skeptic when I start a drama because I have dropped tons of dramas which I was really excited to watch but in the end, all they did was disappoint me. However, this wasn't the case with WYWS. The idea was interesting, the characters were convincing, the plot was keeping me on the edge of my seat most of the time.

Jae Chan was the typical good guy, someone every girl can't help but fall in love with and, let's face it, we cannot resist him! He's good looking, he's charming, funny, smart and even his innocent side, the side which wants to believe everyone has some good in them, even though it makes him look like a dummy sometimes is charming.

Hong Ju was ok. I am one of those people that does agree with the fact that Suzy has to step her acting game up, but I hope this experience helped her with that.

Woo Tak managed to make me fall in love! He was absolutely amazing, I think Jung Hae In did a really good job with the character.

Lee Sang Yeob managed to play the perfect villain! His evil smirks were out of this world!

All in all, it was a really great drama and I'm glad I decided to watch it!

This review may contain spoilers
Firstly, this is not a show you can binge watch.   Each episode is over an hour long.  The pacing of the story is slow and draggy.  They filmed each episode like a movie which is great to look at but not good for binge watching. I actually felt exhausted after each episode partly due to the emotional heaviness of the content and the pacing of the show.

Pros:  I can see why this drama is rated so high. The cinematography and directing of this drama is like a movie.   The story was very well plotted and executed.   The plot itself was not overly complex, (detective in the present time converses with another detective in the past and together they help each other solve Korea's notorious cold cases).  The intrigue really comes from how the director chose to tell the story.  Pieces of the plot is told in fragments leaving the viewer wondering, how in the world does this information relate to that information.  Only during the last episode do you start to see how EVERYTHING is tied together.   The main characters were all well cast and played their parts well.  Shout out to the actor that played Lee Jaehan.

Cons:  The reason why I couldn't give this drama a higher rating was because I felt like the cons of the show over shadowed the pros.  One major con was the pacing of the show.  The show dragged...  It was not even draggy like how Chinese dramas tend to fill up the dead time with stupid side arcs that have nothing to do with the overall story.  It dragged because they spend whole minutes of the show on dead time. Such as, walking, opening a drawer, looking perplexed or sad...things that did not need to be filmed for that length of time. I have no idea how they managed to make solving murder mysteries draggy but they did.  I get it.  If they did not linger around a bit the entire show would end in 10 episodes. After all, the entire show focused on maybe 4 or 5 cases? It really tested my patience because I found myself screaming "walk faster," and " come on, get to the point..." a lot in this show.

Rather than spend whole minutes on dead time, this drama would have benefited from more light- hearted scenes. There was some humor but seriously NOT ENOUGH. There were a lot of dark themes in this drama.  They could afford more scenes of So Hyun being a girly girl in a squad full of dudes.  I rejoiced watching So Hyun's pink bowed, pretty girl past. I wanted to watch more.

Another con was the plot holes.  SPOILERS AHEAD. So I get that our heroic duo could alter the past but keep things consistent.  Park Haeyoung remembered things that has changed in history.  At first, So hyun doesn't remember anything, but as soon as she gets in on the walkie talkie business, all of sudden, she remembers what changed too?  The heck?!  Also is every cop in this fictional world this incompetent or this corrupt?  Aside from Jaehan, do these "cops" even do any active police work?  Everyone just sits around and  it seems like Jaehan is the only one running around looking for evidence.  Which is frustrating and convenient because half of the drama is simply due to incompetence and over fuckery from people not doing anything. Where the hell is his "team?"

Deaths also lose all relevance and actually become annoying when those same people come back the next episode. It's like, man, I actually felt bad the first time. Do it three times and it's annoying.

The last episode was great but the last 20 minutes made me want to punch a wall.  Don't give us an euphoric conclusion with well deserved closure and then take it all away with another random tangent plot point that NO ONE cared for... Can you sense the frustration from me? UGH. END SPOILER.

This was the longest review I've ever wrote but I guess I felt like I needed to justify why I gave a lowish review for such a highly rated show.

All in all this was a really sweet and appealing lakorn. I find it hard to find the low key and drama free shows, so this was definitely appreciated.  The plot was pretty solid and with minimal amount of angst so I would watch this again when I need some cheering up. Main guy was awesome, perfect acting and the character's behaviour was really lovely. Main girl was also good, a more low key performance but a sweet character and not very annoying unlike many lakorn heroines. I know some find her behaviour to be pretty stupid (and it is) and selfish but I don't really mind. And compared to other heroines she is pretty rational and not very self centered. Sure she creates problems and has a selfish motive but she is pretty humble about her mistakes and grateful for the leeway she gets.  I think the only thing that detracted for the rating for me was that the while the chemistry between was good it wasn't amazing. And in this kind of character driven (versus plot driven) drama great chemistry between the character's is needed.

I also appreciate a romantic drama where the focus aren't on the family's disapproval or being an obstacle.

Still recommend it :)

This drama was something special to me.

I never expected to get tears in the first episode already - the story hooked me from the beginning and I cried like almost in every episode because it really really touched me. The story is about  a woman who's trying to fight for her life and her love at once and she carries you along with her - it's impossible to NOT get hooked on this drama...
It is certainly not something light to watch because it's such a serious topic which is still so present in our world and lives. They involved some comedy in the story  but you never really lose that serious frame which builds up the whole drama.

The story started off very strong and makes curious how it will continue.
The Acting and the Cast was off the charts! The chemistry between the main couple was so real you could actually feel it yourself while watching this drama.
I love how Lee Dong Wook and Kim Sun Ah play their roles, they really got to me.
ALSO I have to mention the dancing as I'm a dancer myself and danced the Tango or as in this drama: the Tango Argentino. Those scenes especially between the Lee Dong Wook and Kim Sun Ah were truely amazing! I got chills watching them.

The story also never lets you off or calm down. You always had to worry about something that is happening and you could feel the atmosphere this drama is creating.
I also liked the music - although it was quite cringy at some points but oh well - who cares?!

As I'm a total wreck now that finished this drama, I probably would wait a good while until I would actually watch it again.

I love this drama through and through <3

Time traveling? A story happening in Japan? I've heard of this somewhere before...

Actually, this story reminded me of that time I watch The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and the Endless 8 episode cycle. Again, time traveling is nothing new or exciting to me. I really liked the fact that the directors decided not to loop the same scenes and show the same footage over and over again. Just like an anime, this was a beautiful summer romance story based in Japan at its most intriguing time - summer. However, the romance and the feelings between the main characters seemed very odd to me. I've been meaning to watch this movie for quite a long time since Kentaro Sakaguchi is in this, but I didn't enjoy his performance here. And the leads didn't have that strong of a chemistry. Since this is mainly a movie based on a musical story, I quite enjoyed the soundtrack and the live performances. Frankly, I don't know what to add. Probably that the story is lacking something more, a deeper meaning perhaps.

Anyway, it's a good movie. GOOD as in just regular, nothing too meaningful or unforgettable.

I got through a good portion of this, didn't watch the last 2 episodes because at that point it was  dragging and you already knew who she was going to end up with.  They played push an pull so much that you really thought the outcome was going to be different but it ends up being what you originally thought it would be and that's super annoying to me.  I think that if this came out before Reply 1997 then it would have been easier to watch, but the stories were so similar that it made it boring and feel like the PD was trying too hard.

I don't agree that Go Ara was bad in this drama, I think this role was perfect for her, but at the same time I do agree that's she's not a very good actress because an actress who needs the role to fit her personality in order to be successful is not good at acting.  The whole point of acting is to convey feelings that are not your own and make them believable to others.  She can't do that very well.

I would definitely recommend it to those who doubt about the crazy plot. The plot may sound weird to some, but when you watch it, you will feel butterflies on your stomach and you can’t contain the excitement, also, you will feel mixed emotions. (Unless if light, fluffy, romantic drama is not your cup of tea)

When you look at the title, you seem to know already the main plot of the drama where you pretend to be a robot and then one day, it will be discovered soon and then there will be trust issues, yada yada yada. Since I watched these kinds of dramas, I already know that, but I loved the execution of the story line and the acting. I like how the plot is simple yet interesting. Started simple, ended simple. Some people think that simple is boring, but in this drama, I don’t think so. I smiled, cried, and laughed while watching this. Though the drama still had unexplained things, it ended well, the pacing is good, and I like it.

The cast. Oh my gosh. I love the cast and their characters. Jo Ji A and Kim Min Kyu are great characters and their relationship is so beautiful. The characters and the romance make the drama more interesting to watch. Everyone did an amazing job.

Music is great, of course. I'm replaying the OST LOL! I’m not basically a re-watcher unless if the drama is really, really memorable but I would re-watch the comedy and romantic scenes.
Overall, decent drama. Not memorable for me but I would, again, really recommend it to those who haven’t watched yet.
