Boys over flowers is like the "must see" in k drama world. This is probably the most famous k drama ever, and the first k drama for a lot of people, and that's why we -somehow- love this drama although it isn't actually a good one.

The story is just a big WTF! to me, really... and it doesn't always make sense. But incredibly it is still a catchy story lol, this read more is what BOF is, it somehow hooks you up, but deep inside of you, you know that what you're watching is not good at all.

The acting is just BLEH! although I love Lee Min Ho and now is one of my favorite actors, in BOF he wasn't as good as he is now... it wasn't a terrible acting but it wasn't a good one either... Same for Koo Hye Sun, she's good at dramatic scenes and crying and suffering but she lacks emotion in other scenes like kisses or funny moments and etc...

F4: oh boy! the eyecandy in this story has a 10/10 these four Asian boys doing whatever they want with your feelings and looking hot while they're destroying your heart haha it's just asdfghjk...

And probably what makes this drama a "must see" and a famous one is Yoon Ji Hoo (Kim Hyun Joong) BOF probably has the worst and saddest second lead syndrome ever! REALLY... even if you don't ship JanDi with JiHoo the drama still makes you feel terribly sad about JiHoo's life (a terrible and lonely one) omg! my heart still aches when I remember...

Despite of all that BOF is a very rewatchable story... if you want to cheer up, or cry like crazy or just remember or see hot Asian boys gathered in one drama, just go to BOF. :)

If I could some this drama up in one word it would be 'meh'. Boys before flowers isn't that special, it was kinda disapointing to be frank. Yes the actors were brilliant but the storyline lacked spark.

I'll start with the storyline, it was ok at the beginning and good through the middle but the end was an anti-climax and a half. The ammount of cliches in this show is annoying, I've read more seen it all before. I haven't seen any other adaptions of this show and since watching Boys Before Flowers I don't think I will. It was average at best.

However the actors in this show, particulary Lee Min Ho and Kim Hyun Joong were awesome. Each and every emotion was potrayed brilliantly and had this show a better storyline it would have easily got a ten. I liked the different styles of acting and personalities that each character brought, even the minor ones. Plus they're all nice eye candy.

The music in this show made it worth watching. I loved the soundtrack and plan to buy every song that I possibly can from it. A nice mix of classical and pop that fitted each mood. Very very good music in this show.

In the end I would reccomend watching it so long as your not one of those people who like to pick wholes in every detail. Its easy-going and makes for an enjoyable watch. But it's not life-changing or addictive. And you probably won't watch it again.

Make a Recommendation More recs (57)Recommendations

It has kinda he same plot with a poor girl and a rich guy falling for each other and the family coming in between the two of them. This drama is definitely much better that The Heirs since it's got a more concrete plot and less loopholes in the story.

The music i gong to keep you hooked and the story will make you smile and laugh and cry and sigh and get angry and just feel a lot of things.

It's a highly recommended series.
The unpopular girl at school grabs the attention of the popular boy at school.
Though different plots, its a similar look at how one is seem inferior in the relationship.

Oh yes Japanese version is better than Korean version, but there is very big difference. All the cast of BOF are truly much better than HYD. Very much Handsome LEE MIN HO. Matsumoto Jun, i like him when he play in GOKUSEN 1. LEE MIN HO is very manly. I Love You!

I prefer Korean dramas to Japanese dramas nowadays, but I'll never like Boys Over Flowers more than Hana Yori Dango, and I won't believe anyone who says they do. In fact, I dropped it before even reaching episode 10... Pretty much only watched it just to see Kyujong, Hyungjoon and Youngsaeng perform U R MAN and then I was done. lol

I hear you. I am watching Boys Before Flowers at the moment and I cannot even compare these two. I mean... Shouldn't a remake be better than original? If not, then what's the point in creating one? Anyways, I am disappointed just as much as I was in Japanese remake of You're Beautiful.. x.x

I generally avoid remakes, but back when I watched this I didn't realise right away that it was a remake. It seems to me like remakes tend to try to be better than the original, and they end up forgetting about what made the original one so good. u.u

The "point" in remakes is the same reason why there's so many shades of every color.. because they all bring smth ~different, & that does not (always) have to mean "better" (altho of course, with most things there's always room for ~improvement, but how & in what ways tends to be ~subjective on the widescale), which is also dependent on who is deciding ~what is "better" & their own view of "quality", etc.. just like one colour can appear to be another one when viewed on a different screen. TL;DR, I'd rather smth be attemped just in case ~I might think it's awesome (or at least, ~parts of it, lol), even if it could end up painful (I do have my share of disappointments as well.. siigh). ^-^

Hana Yori Dango has a really good and fitting soundtrack, which doesn't get annoying. Also doesn't have those weird and hideous choices of wardrobe and hairstyle I saw in BOF, the main leads have awesome chemistry (didn't see chemistry in BOF,at all!), it's shorter and more consise, the "love triangle" is not draggy and annoying and overall HYD has a better ending. That said, this one neutralizes some events in the plot that might cause cultural shock to the foreign audiences, making it easier to watch, follow and understand to everyone. The korean F4 guys do a great job as well, but it's still overrated in my opinion.

This drama is way over rated. I liked hana yori dango much better. It was short and concise. Tooo many unnecessary cliches added to extend it to 25 episodes. Seriously, I think once you watch this drama you'll know all the cliches that exist in drama land.

I seriously disliked this drama. So overrated. It got boring after a few episodes plus it was too cliche. Too overrated.

This was my first korean drama.....and I loved this drama back then. I have seen BOF over 4 times and each time I saw this show again I saw the painful truth that this show has WAY to many cliches and it probably is overrated for what it's worth.

It's not that great of the show and that is why I liked your thing you should know though is BOF is not a drama to be taken never has been and never will. It's light and fluffy that's all it is. Nothing to get serious over.

Wow, my first drama. I probably wont re-watch it, as I think it wasnt that great, but if it wasnt for this, I wouldnt have gotten into the Kdrama & Kpop world. (And seen more of Lee Min ho's better dramas & roles!) So this drama holds a special place in my heart :D <3 Also, despite not liking a lot of moments, it also has really sweet moments that I remember. AND THE MUSIC. First time I ever heard a SHINee song, and after finishing the drama downloaded the whole OST, then looked up more k-music, and well... The rest is history ^^

I have t say that it really wasn't the best option on your first time watching a Kdrama. If you allow a recommendation Faith and City Hunter show how good Lee Min Ho is as an actor! you should watch it :)

I really enjoyed this drama a lot. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. I kind of wanted more when it came the to the last episode, but I was satisfied with the ending.
