@WandereR

Yes I was going to make the edit. The series changed names a few times.  Imperial doctress is still a palace story, because of who her love interests are.

 WandereR:
I didn't customize a list but let me check my watch list (this would include wuxia and court officials):

I haven't watched many of them so Thanks!! for these

I think I will compile a list myself ... I compiled a list of total Chinese Historicals I've watched ...it add upto 45 ... I thought it would be more than that ...but I think I will watch 5  more as my next and make the no. cross 50

Ya, that's true but I guess the medical cases were interesting and she wasn't involved in any fight for the throne :P

No problem.  That's a great idea too!

 Sam:

Really that's quite expensive ...for me here

All in USD (converted for better understanding)

Netflix - $11 but divided by 4 so $ 2.75

Viki - $0.89 (basic) & $4.4  ( standard)

Wetv - $1.09

Iqiyi - $4.13 (standard) & $6.19(premium)

In total I spent $ 8.86 for all of this ... because I hate ads

Interesting fee differences. I pay US$4.99 for Viki Standard (I don't get a Basic option at all) and US$5.99 for WeTV. Netflix is shared between 4 of us friends so my share is US$3.50.  I've never paid for iQiyi but it looks like a standard sub would cost me U$3.99.

As for WeTV, this is only my second time paying for a sub; after I'm done with TSatB, I'll cancel. Viki I've done off and on but this time I'll probably keep it because I especially appreciate the ad-free experience now that my time is limited, though I hate that I can't preview along the timeline, like I can do with just about every other platform. Strangely enough, Netflix is the one I use the least but the one I have no intention of cancelling.

@Sam

This might seem a little different from what you are looking for but I really liked:

https://mydramalist.com/40305-the-ghost-bride

Set in 1890 in Colonial Malacca, a young woman was forced to marry a dead man as a ghost bride in exchange to have her family's financial debt forgiven. Her attempt to escape the obligation was complicated by her discovery of a conspiracy that was much bigger and more mysterious than she ever thought she would be in.

Well it can be counted in republican era drama ...all republican era drama doesn't have palace or emperor  as far as my knowledge goes

Sam

I like republican dramas too.

Arsenal Military Academy is one of my all time favourites.

These two are good too.

Other shows:

Ok thanks for these ...AMA is also one of my favourite republican era drama

It is hard to find ones that don't centre around palace life.

It's not hard ...I will compile a list later ... somewhat busy right now

 Knavery:

I'm going to try to make a banner for myself, here is my work in progress (not sure about background and if I want to use a film grain filter or a painter filter like you see on left):

This already looks good, despite being in progress. I'm not very graphic design-savvy, but I absolutely love the background on the middle & right part! But you do whatever YOU like best!!! ^_^

 Sam:

Let me ask...does anyone has a list of Historical dramas that is not placed in a palace ...where the leads are not fighting to sit on throne ... where leads are some normal officials ...I have realised that I somewhat like non palace drama more than palace one

These are some that haven't already mentioned (I think, sorry if I didn't notice):

Cuo Dian Yuan Yang

Xi Die Yuan Yang

Chef Fang

Oh My General

My Heroic Husband

Dr. Cutie

The Sword and The Brocade

The Romance of Hua Rong

The Return of Iljimae

Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People (Although they fight against the king in the 2nd half)

And technically most wuxia & xianxia should count...

Legend of the Condor Heroes

Demi Gods & Semi Devils

Dance of the Phoenix

The Flame's Daughter

The Untamed

Well if you or anyone else is interested in using it, here it is:

I think this is a cutout from a wallpaper from one of those wallpaper websites with some adjustments made to sharpen and fade certain things so it works better as a background image. I don't know for sure though, it's been months since I downloaded the original as part of a group of other photos.

Hello amazing people!

After Listening Snow Tower and Joy of Life, my heart and soul are bewitched! So I've decided to join this lovely club and enjoy myself among historical veterans.

Help a lady out by recommending what to watch next. What's your top 3 favorite historical dramas?

PS: I've watched the Untamed and loved it.

Congrats on finishing JoL and LST!  I've still got them on my on-hold (because I was really busy then they aired and I've been waiting for JoL s2 to appear) so will need to pick them up again soon :D

I've got a few on my list, but I'll just list them out here to save time for anyone who's interested as well (all C-Dramas):
