Acting/Cast: The leading man in this show acts very well, and not to mention gorgeous too. He very charismatic, which doesn't make him seem like he is a new actor at all (even though he is). He's able to make the show pretty interesting to watch. The leading lady, on the other hand, doesn't act as well and seems stiff and unrealistic in some scenes.  Also, they sometimes don't seem as a couple unless they're doing something intimate. :/

Music: I CAN SAY THE ONE THING THAT KEPT ME ON THIS SHOW WAS THE MUSIC!!!! I absolutely lovedddd the opening and closing theme songs. I rarely ever skipped over them. The intro/ending songs just go with the tone of the story very well and were really catchy. I don't even speak Chinese, but knew most of the lyrics to the songs halfway into the drama. The show also makes the songs in the show fit the mood of the situation the actors/actresses are in most of the time.

Story: The story line is very unique and interesting. It's not just like any other cliche Twilight story. The backstory of the characters is very original, but also VERRYYYY confusing at times. You might have to re-watch some parts over again to understand what's fully going on. TRUST ME I DID IT SOOOO MANY TIMES.  The drama is VERRYYY SLOWW in some episodes. I'm talking two facts per episode (NO JOKE).  It might take you like five episodes to get to the juicy parts of the story. You might not be hooked from episode one (like me), but if you give it a chance, you might actually be surprised and like it later on.

Rewatch Value: For MOST episodes that have some juiciness and crucial moments in the drama, I would most likely rewatch.  BUT........ overall I wouldn't really consider watching this WHOLE drama over again. It's just boring at sometimes. So boring that makes you think, "Why am I rewatching this part again?"

I HOPE THIS REVIEW HELPS :DDDD

This is my first drama review ever becasuse no other show has infuriated me like this one has. The first time I started watching this show just because I liked the male lead who was starring in Nirvana in Fire 2. But I dropped it after 2 episodes. Later I decided to give it a chance and binge watched the whole thing.

Plot:
The plot was not mundane. It kept things moving with no real central theme. The thing that irritated me the most is the romance arc. I think the romance angle wasn't developed to its best. The focus was more on all secondary relationships and characters. There wasn't enough for me to root for the ML. And it can be compared with 'A love so beautiful' because they share common premises. But where this drama fails is to wrap the high school arc at a considerable time and give the latter years enough screen time. The ending was rushed and completely unsatisfactory. But the story was kind of relatable. The main reason I kept watching was how adorable all the characters were and the story was mostly realistic ( Ahem, ahem, except the ending).

Acting/ Cast:
I a in love with the male lead. He does a fabulous potrayal of that all rounder, ambitious teenage without being a jerk about it. The female lead was annoying at some points but for the major part she was cute. The second lead is another character that was both written and acted out really well. The side actors also did a great job and I could remember many classmates despite of the large cast.

Music:
The music was appropriately included but none of it was memorable ot the kind you want to listen to again.

Rewatch value:
Based on my knowledge of how it ends, I may not watch it.

LONG REVIEW

I might as well start by stating the obvious : one of the top 3 shows of 2018 and we’re only in February. But this level of quality is hardly ever surpassed, kdramaland or not. Rarely has a show been able to keep me interested and on my toes, from beginning to end. Do NOT be fooled by the 1st and 2nd episodes, which absolutely don’t reflect the greatness of this masterpiece. You might be turned off by some of the “cheesiness” at the beginning, but past those two episodes, it’s a totally different show.

STRONG POINTS : Jang hyuk’s performance is phenomenal, the downside of this is that his skills are so superior that he tends to outshine everyone else. Jang Seung Jo is the 2nd best thing of the show. Dude, going from his performance in “I Order You” to this, was absolutely unbelievable, what a spectacular actor! The “makjangness” (I know that’s not a word lol), i.e. the unexpected directions that the story constantly took, was simply brilliant. Pretty much 70% of what you assume will happen won’t. Trust me, you don’t want to speculate. The cliffhangers at the end of every episode are frustratingly good. This drama is CRAZY. It’s a game of who’s who and who’s not who. Yeah I know the previous sentence doesn’t make much sense, but the drama is that cray cray lol. Money Flower also reveals the worst side of human nature when it comes to wealth. Greed is a serious issue that can affect even the most honest man, when put under certain circumstances. It made me question my own relationship with money. As for the OST, the music is perfect, the violins ? OMONA ! I can’t remember but one song with lyrics, everything else is a bunch of fantastic instrumentals. This is pretty rare in a drama (my 1st time seeing this) and it was a pleasure to hear all those well selected melodies.

WEAK POINTS : The female lead, Mo hyun’s character is subpar at best, and I won’t blame it on actress Park Se Young, she has talent. It’s the whole “seeing the world like a 5 year old” mindset that they gave this character that is annoying as heck. It’s like this girl saw this world through rose colored glasses her entire life and suddenly woke up by 30 years old. Even when reality hit her hard, I still found her too freaking sweet!

DEBATABLE : Sorry to the fans who loved the ending, but it seemed to be an open one. I’ve read two theories and both make sense. I just hate those because I can never choose. I prefer clear concrete endings. I’ll elaborate on it in the comment section (comment will be tagged as spoiler so no worries). That’s the only reason I didn’t give it a 10.

OVERALL : This drama is more than entertainment. It’s an experience. Jang Hyuk was already in my top 5, but he is officially my favorite actor since this one. His talent, his ability to carry a whole show, are undeniable. Everything was awesome from the pace, character development, story telling, OST and cinematography. I'm pretty sure this drama, being a local hit, will change the game in kdramaland.

I had a love and hate relationship with this drama. In the beginning the female protagonist was too ignorant to everything happening around her and was too trusting. I understand this was a fantasy drama, however it was an unrealistic one. Hera’s plot was basically being dragged along by others . She wasn’t a main character but rather a supporting one. Unfortunately she remained so until the very end and her fiesty personality deterred the more she got comfortable in her mans arms.
What I can appreciate about this drama is the fact that It gave me what I searched for in Korean drama land since I began watching them 10 years ago. A consistent villain and vengeance. There is a theme in Kdrama world where the villainess can push you down the stairs, be the reason for public humiliation or a life threatening situation but because she decided to change 4 episodes before the end; all is forgiven. Everyone is chummy.
Black Knight's Sharon differs in the fact that she wants one thing and she is consistent in wanting it. She is willing to do anything to have it and if she fails she tries again and again. If what Sharon wanted was to rule the country not a man she would be my ultimate hero.
Alas she wants a specific penis and is willing to kill who ever is in the way of it. I don’t believe her punishment was matched her crimes. She needed much much more.
Now I am a sucker for the grease so the cheesey fluffy moments between the two leads made me very happy. I loved their relationship and how affectionate it was. The only thing I didn’t like was how submissive she became.
Another relationship I Loved was Becky and Sharon. Their comical antics as they go through time and their support for each other although the held different views on redemption was very cute. You can sense their bond as they continue to quabble but cannot help but always run to find each other.

This drama should have been 12 episodes long. As I write this I am trying to remember the story worth 20 episodes and I don’t remember anything much. Really! One point to the writers: Sharon commits two major crimes that go unnoticed by the cops in a way that makes them just plain lazy.

The music was genius! The piggy sound that is played when something freaky happens may have been the source of why I needed to watch this drama in public areas during the day light. Daydream by Kwon Sun Il being my favorite . Rather than the story having control of my emotions, it was the music.

Acting wise I am curious to the reason Kim Rae Won chose to participate in this drama. He is arguably  among the best actors in SK and yet his last two dramas have been his least challenging roles. Playing the savior rich man who guides the young female lead.
I like Shin Se Kyung in this role because she wasn’t over acting. She was calmer and more mature. That’s as far as I can comment on her acting skills.
I am excited to watch the actress who played Sharon in other dramas. She was by far the scene stealer and definitely swayed the audience to her side. Although like with the rest of the cast I didn’t see any breakthrough performance moment from her.

I will be rewatching simply for the comedy and fluff.

Started intriguing then became hilarious (wether intentionally or not ?) with a lot of WTF moments and got draggy and tiring. Suffered from poor writing and bad pacing. The historical part was captivating but quickly resolved. The Ost fits the surrealist atmosphere. The acting was okay but not enough to be emotionally invested in the characters. The fantasy part failed to make sense. Some characters were useless and many scenes feel just unnecessary. The whole show evolves around Sharon’s craziness and her fashion style. Only KRW’s charm and the cute romance made me watch it till the shitty ending. The ending will let you a feeling of having wasted 20 hours of your life and make you swear to avoid the writer’s next work.

This drama is a total nightmare. The story is forced to be too melodramatic and unlogical. The main lead is a complete fool to stay with the whack headed student. The story went sooo slow that I don't think there is any meaningful progress at all. At one point, I just skip it a lot to see ending. The ending is forced and unsatisfying. I'm not sure about the character growth at all... Overall, this drama is not worth your time. You will get upset all the time. So don't watch it. I warn you owo"/

Short, cute, and whole lot of fun!!

I randomly happened upon this series and it was a fun little drama that although ridiculous, was incredibly entertaining! It had many little plot twists and odd plot lines that were mostly nonsensical  but were a blast to watch. It had Manga/Anime style characters and situations that will have you laughing and smiling the whole way through.

In addition, this drama is composed of 8 episodes at about 20 min each (if you account for the ending theme song) because of this is easy to watch the entire series in 1 or 2 sittings. Making this the perfect end to a stressful week or a great buffer between more series dramas.
This is definitely a guilty pleasure watch and one that if you break it in to parts does not look the most promising. T
he acting was meh, the story was interesting but nothing overtly original, the soundtrack was catchy enough but was nothing to right home about, and the ending was left open (appeared as though they plan on future seasons). Despite all this, I thoroughly enjoyed this drama and would probably re-watch and would DEFINITELY watch a season 2.

Happy Drama Watching!! :)

It's D-day, everyone! I have been waiting for this day to come...

Lot's of people said they didn't like it and there are those who did like it.

I can understand both.

If you like romance genre, then try it WITHOUT expectations. You can enjoy the main couple's lovey-dovey, the two immortals' fight with each other( a childish one and a repenter one), the childish one's more and more immature acts to get her 'loved' one and beautiful views of places.
If you don't really like anyone in the cast or if you are picky about dramas, then FORGET it. Believe in your hunch! Don't believe in the teasers! (I did and  regret it now...)

If you have time then listen to OSTs of it. They are likable.

Rewatching it? NO, I would never do that. NEVER.

I just finished to watched it lately and its really worth watching for! You know, the feeling of being alone for a long time really makes you weird and really really lonely. Despite that Min Kyu is unbelievably foolish, maybe thats because of how desperate he was to have someone to  be his friend. I felt so sorry for him for having that kind of sickness and im very happy that because of Aji 3, he found his cure, his family and that he is no longer alone anymore! great great series to watch!!!

I advice anyone to watch that movie, it's such a great movie.

First of all, I've only watched one other of Park Chan Wook's films, Old boy, but it's worth watching cause it's also a really great film.

The movie is really well written, it's divided in three parts that are following one character each, and each of those part is really well written and mind blowing. The whole film is mind blowing actually, form plot twist to plot twist, the suspense is here.

The pictures are very beautiful also, it's what I call great cinema: even before I had the chance to see it, I knew I would like it cause the pictures and the music that are shown in the trailer really set what you are going to see, which is georgeous images of the Korean countryside or the city, and the music that is just perfect. Also the actors are really talented and they were all really good in their role.

But there's two things I actually really really liked about this film:
- The whole story about Japanese occupation. I didn't have the chance to see much about that precise period, and the fact that Korean are able to talk about that difficult situation is very important I think (on that subject, I advise you the Korean drama Bridal Mask, it's really good). Listening to those two beautiful languages is also a plus for me. I liked that the historical part is here, but not in a central place, cause the story between the characters is way more important, and that's really weel done.
- Strong lesbian characters. As queer female myself, I'm thrilled to see such strong characters. Finding good gay male character is quite difficult in Asian cinema, even though it's getting easier each year fortunatly, but lesbian characters are always absent (especially in Korean films and dramas), just search "gay" and "lesbian" tags on the site and compare by yourself. So these girls are really important to me, and as well as the historical side, it's here, but it's not like "queer propagandia", theur queerness is just natural.

Some scene can be, not difficult to watch, but quite "disgusting" (I don't really know what word I should use), but they don't feel useless, I feel like everything is here for a reason. The film is relativly long (144 min) but, I promise you won't be bored.

This was a really great movie! I recommend watching all parts at once, right after each other since the episodes are quite short. The relationship between Gitaek and Chisoo was very cute and lovely.
The story is like if you put ten different fanfiction tropes together and mashed them but it somehow works? It's fun to watch and it's still unpredictable at times. The acting... the main actors are good, the smaller ones not so much. But if you focus on Gitaek and Chisoo only + Gitaek's noona - it's well done. Music doesn't really stand out. I will definitely rewatch this with my friends because it's so good. I really recommend it and furthermore:
it has a happy ending! So don't worry about not watching if you don't like sad stories.

A fantasy drama with good premisses but a so so story in the end. It's hard to think that the two male leads are actually the same character. They look rather like big brother and his little student brother who fell for the same woman. The story gets a bit too complecated when the teacher goes back in time and meets his first love, forcing her to like him back but as a grown up now and not as her classmate. So, a really really odd love triangle is developed. The ending was so so as well. It could have been better, but at least it wasn't boring. So, 4 out of 10.

Maybe it’s because I’ve already seen the Korean version, but drama has such a nice warm feeling to it. The addition of the badass Ying Yue is great. I liked the complex relationship she had with Wang Mang. The actor for Wang Mang, (Chen Xiang) has such a funny way of looking angry whenever he is passionate. So his love confessions are the funniest. I appreciated the side characters more in the Chinese version.

I think the charm of the premise is this dignified scholar falling in love with this ridiculous young lady from the future. In many ways, she gets to appear competent because he has no idea what to do in the modern world.

The music at times could be truly beautiful and poignant. Similar to the Korean version, I adore the use of the traditional instruments.

Romance

Our hero has a lovely way of looking at our heroine like he is really listening to her and interested in what she’s going to do or say next.  She’s really nothing, but he thinks she is the greatest. And I find that so incredibly cute.

“I like your personality very much.”

The pair have a very nice dynamic that is innocent and simple. They make each other happy.

“Seeing you there is hope and I have courage.”

It was very cute seeing Gong Min pine away for Xiang Xiang even when he couldn’t remember her. It kind of made their love feel more substantial. Even when he doesn’t remember her he can’t do without her.

I like how even though he is always strong in front of Ying Yue, his grief over losing Xiang Xiang is so great that he can’t hide it from her.

Kdrama vs. C-Drama

I appreciate that the interactions between characters are not exaggerated. There is a sense of normalcy with the pair without having to overdramatise everything.

This drama felt a bit stiff and lifeless. The delivery of the premise and the emotion of the characters was lacking.
I like Min Ho as an idol person. I’ve never seen him act before. It’s clear he’s not that good.
Min Ho is still a 30 year dude when he goes back in time. So it seems slightly pedophilic.
The drama is pretty boring and it took me a while to bother to finish it.

Some of the time-wimey stuff is interesting. Especially with the events that happen to other people because Min Ho knows how to avoid them.

I saw this drama on a few recommendations and lists so I thought to give it a try, plus I was following some of Lin Gen Xin 's reality shows and become a fan so...here I am reviewing this drama after I just finished it.
My basic rating...first off, the story was good. I did like it. I am usually not a huge fan of these major internal relationship struggles type shows but the story was good enough that I didn't think it was bothersome.  Apparently, it is based on a novel series so if I ever find the audiobooks I might give it a try but the audio language may be too hard for me to understand, sadly. Secondly, the cast was great. I have watched some other dramas that some of these actors have main roles in so I knew they were good, just didn't know whether their chemistry in their acting would mesh with their roles.  Sadly, I saw an article that a second season was announced to finish off the rest of the series, but the original cast might not be in it or at least the MCs will change actors. Changing actors half way is such an annoying thing, especially when the actors received so much positive feedback for their roles. But, you never know the situation might change...crossing my fingers, I find some announcement that disproves what news I've seen so far about the second season.  Third, music...besides from the OP, I loved the in-show soundtrack and GEM's ED.  I love GEM so when I heard the ED, I immediately fell in love with the song.  Lastly, rewatch value...I would love to rewatch it, to find any quirks after I listen to the audiobooks if I find them. There are always different presentation quirks between medias. Personally, I rarely rewatch long seasons, anything over 30ish is too long for me to stay focus while rewatching.
I would definitely recommend this drama.  But, I do have my complaints.  I feel like the romance wasn't developed really well through the script.  It is either my Chinese language skills that hindered my understanding or they just didn't really move the romance.  The CPs had their moments but...It feels like you caught a fish but you can't reel it in and you're tugging back and forth.  Then again, this season was apparently only one and half books in the series so it might just be that we're not there yet which is why they presented it this way.  Secondly, the story didn't get good until the latter end of the drama in my opinion.  It was good but still boring enough where I would want to fast forward in episodes in the middle so...there's that.  Lastly, the ending is crap.  They literally made the ending to foreshadow the second season which to me is advertising to keep the audience. But, then again, by the end of this season, everything is pretty much wrapped up, but the ending just leaves me feeling empty.  I don't know. You'll have to watch it to understand what I mean.  I'm kinda picky when it comes to endings.

Overall, I recommend this drama.  It is the typical relationship struggles for power in politics, family, and love in a historical setting in palace politics and martial arts but the story is good enough to make you feel for each of the characters in the drama. You will feel for the protagonists and want to help kill the antagonists.  WATCH IT  ; )
