STORY

The drama had me in so much emotions! The story was beautiful, the soundtracks, the visuals and everything! This is my April 2024 comfort drama. The chemistry was there for the emotions to play out right and the ending was very understandable and not rushed. This is the perfect historical drama with angst and many emotions, if you're in your feels or want to feel something!

A girl's manifestation came to life

July 30, 2023

Hidden Love is definitely one of the best released rom-com Chinese drama of the year. The story of Sang Zhi and Jia Xu is so fluffy and cute.

As a a rom-com Chinese drama, I was expecting petty and stupid arguments when the leads get together. But they are so mature to the point where all the little misunderstandings are resolved right away. They have such a healthy communication with each other. I am in awe with how much I am jealous of what they have.

Sang Zhi and Jia Xu's chemistry is just off the chart. It is amazing to think how much the actors can deliver into their character role. I understand the hype that Hidden Love received. They truly deserve it.

All the other side characters are just chef's kiss as well. They brought things to the plot and I didn't see anyone being a waste of time. I never skipped scenes either which is quite rare nowadays. As there are so many dramas putting up filler scenes and sub plots which sole purpose is for them to fill their timeslot and drag the show longer.

As someone who have watched Cdramas for a quite a long time now. I will put Hidden Love with the other "S"-tier fluffy rom-com Cdramas imo like "Put your head on my shoulders". "Perfect. & Casual", "Falling into your smile", and "When we were young".

If you are a sucker for rom-com who hates misunderstanding please give this show the love that it deserves!

Meaningful, Organised, Entertaining.

Absolutely loved Lee Do Hyun's acting. The young cast is so good-looking and fun to watch. Great, consistent delivery of message - being grateful for decisions/people, the importance of relationships, finding happiness, regret... Although each episode ending doesn't have such a big cliffhanger (compared to other dramas), every episode was really important for the storyline so it was really painful waiting a week for every 2 episodes. I'd reckon it'd be a great drama to binge-watch. I honestly didn't expect every episode to be so good since it was just a remake of an hour-long Western movie. The staff team elaborated on the main couple's story more (and other characters) which made the story more meaningful and structured - not rushed nor draggy. Also, beautiful OSTs and cinematography (loved the little details at the back!)

P.S Had a strong second lead syndrome with Hwang In Yeob. He is so attractive, I would definitely want to see more roles from him! Also the weeb/s AHAH. Deok Jin is such a humorous character. Some of his scenes are super dramatic and unrealistic (same as turning 18 again). I honestly did consider whether they were necessary but then again, they were definitely really entertaining to watch! The same goes for his love story!!

“If you think of it as a regret, that’s the end of it. But when you think of it as a lesson learned, it brings a new beginning”

I watched this drama a couple years ago. I remembered as a child I was looking for this drama in Viet dubbed because I really wanted to watch it. Then I find it and I was glad I did because this was one of the best drama I have ever watched. Now on to the review:

Story: I thought that it was amazing and well done drama. It was different from the ones I have seen. But that story wasn't really the main point of the drama though; Other stuff were happening throughout the drama. You will hate the stepsister and the stepmom. Also feel sorry for the main actress because I did. Also be sure to have a box of tissues next to you because you will be crying your eyes out. You will laugh and cry throughout this drama.

Acting/Cast: I thought the child actors did a good job, I enjoyed them very much. I also enjoyed the adult actors too; They were amazing :) I was surprised that this was Kim Tae Hee second drama as a actress. She was really convincing in her role as a villain. I really hated her!!! Also I was surprised that the younger Han Tae Hwa was her brother. Overall I enjoy the main actors and the supporting cast.

Music: I enjoyed the soundtrack for this drama especially Bo Go Ship Da. It's a really good soundtrack.

Rewatch: I think I will, but in a couple years ago. This drama I still can't get over how sad it was.

Overall: I would recommend this drama to anyone because it's a really good drama. You won't regret watching it. But be prepared with a box of tissues next to you will need it. I guaranteed. This was one the best one and the saddest one I have every watch. You won't regret watching it.

I have such mixed feelings regarding this series which my ratings pretty much reflect... here goes...

>>>The Story/Writing (6 out of 10):
I'm likely to be in the minority, but there came a point where I just didn't like the writing and felt it went horribly wrong. The first half of the series was pretty decent, you have the set up for the love triangle, what I call the "Other Chick", "Other Guy" (which are just the secondary leads, but that's my lingo) and the "Other Other Guy" (the jerk that no one likes who is in love with the "Other Chick"), and the heartbreaking past of our hero and heroine and how fate steps in to bring them together. Everything is going pretty on par with what's expected and then inexplicably our hero just goes nuts. Not literally, but there are two major "WTF?!" moments for me where I was literally yelling "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!? WAEEEEE?!" I was so flabbergasted that I just couldn't even anymore. I can't really say anymore without using spoilers, but by the end of the series, I no longer liked the "hero", Hyun Wook. To be fair, the drama deals with what is apparently a very taboo subject in Korea and so it was hard for me to wrap my mind around what was so wrong.

Regardless, I felt the writers wrote themselves into a corner with the hero and then chose to completely disregard his actions to concentrate on another obstacle for the main couple only to completely disregard THAT in the end, a la Heirs (don't even get me started on that series.... I'm afraid to even review that for fear of the hordes of rabid Lee Min Ho fan girls that would come tearing into my doors and reverse defenestrating). It's not even that this show really suffered from the usual problem writers seem to have of how to effectively end a series, but more with it not making sense due to refusing to tackle the real problem, which was the hero's lies and actions regarding his lies. I didn't have secondary lead syndrome, though it begs the question, was the hero trying to force the viewers into it at some points. I felt the "Other Guy", Shi Woo was one of the best secondary leads I've seen in a while, which made the ending that much more of a I can't even.

>>>The Acting/Cast (7 out of 10):
The biggest draw for me was of course Jung Ji-Hoon (Rain) because I loved him in "Full House"(2004), and I recently started watching "Sang Doo, Let's Go To School" (2003) which started to grow on me. Rain is just bursting with charisma (and of course there's the part where he's really easy on the eyes) and he is seriously a talented entertainer and actor... which is why I feel bad that this was his first drama in 4 years. I feel bad because the writers ruined his character, Hyun Wook. Rain can definitely act and I hope to see him in a lighter rom-com because while he's great at intense, I enjoy his humorous side more, less of Broody Mcbrooderson.

I really liked Krystal in "Heirs" combined with her onscreen boyfriend Yoon Chan Yeong (played by the ever adorable Kang Min Hyuk). They were great and what carried that show for me. Now in My Lovely Girl, I'm not sure if it was the fault of the director or that the role was just to big for Krystal to carry, but I felt like her character, Se Na, had little to no romantic chemistry with Hyun Wook, the love of her life. Some called her the Korean Kristen Stewart, but I wouldn't go THAT far (I would if we are talking about Park Gyu Ri from Nail Shop Paris of Horrors though - if you want to know how I REALLY feel please see my review on that atrocity). I felt like Se Na unlike most female leads was more introverted, she didn't bawl when she got emotional, she shed silent tears, you could tell she was holding it in. To be fair though, she said a lot of things that never quite matched her actions though. I would've liked to see more passion towards her man, a little less talk a little more action please (and by that I don't mean sexy times...though there' wouldn't be anything wrong with some lovin').

I'm not going to go through each character, but I think I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Kim Myung Soo (L), as Shi Woo. I liked him in "Master's Sun" (2013); as young Joong Won where I first saw him and I'm looking forward to seeing him in "Shut Up Flower Boy Band" (2012) once I get the chance. His character made the most growth and made the most sense throughout and he was great at portraying that. He starts off as you'd imagine an immature idol would, but he definitely matured leaps and bounds by the end and the lead, Hyun Wook should've been taking notes.

I felt the rest of the cast could've been filled by just about any good actor, no one else really stood out - though some were enjoyable to watch.

>>>The Music (5 out of a 10):
For a show about the music industry it was just a bit ho-hum for me. Not bad, it was nice, but nothing I felt I really needed to download or even really stuck in my head.

>>>Re-watch Value (1 out of 10):
I will not re-watch or recommend this drama to anyone. I'm not saying it's an entire waste or anything. Some people, actually, the majority seem to love this drama, but in a sea of dramas I feel this easily gets lost and there's nothing special about it.

>>>Overall (6.5 out of 10):
I didn't feel like I wasted my time watching this, the last 5 or so episodes I was really struggling. I guess not so much with the last two because the thing that bothered me the most that most viewers didn't even seem to think it was a thing, I just decided to pretend didn't happen. But I feel that if you are forced to do that, the writing is pretty bad. Part of me wanted the two to be together, but I think that had more to do with liking Rain, and not at all liking the character he was portraying... which is what makes me wonder if that's the reason so many viewers were so forgiving of the things his character said and did, simply because they were seeing Rain and not Hyun Wook. Or perhaps, trust is not something they find as important in a relationship as I do. I don't know, but I was not really happy with the ending and found the last episode to be fluff that fell completely flat, rather than tying up loose ends of the plot....and some pretty important ones too. Again though, I won't be recommending or re-watching this, but I am looking forward to see Kim Myung Soo and Rain in their next dramas because they are really good actors that deserve a good characters to portray within a good solid story.

Story-line starts out with our lead girl dating and about to be engaged to Seojun - but she meets Unchan by accident and just continues to cross paths with him and she starts to be extremely curious about him - and b/c of that curiosity she ends up falling for him *NOT a spoiler as it is in the description for the drama*. Our lead guy is labeled "the ugly duckling" at his home and has sacrificed himself time and time again for his family b/c he loves them. He dreams of becoming an architect in the future and ends up working for Mr. Lee at his workshop as his pupil. There are the usual plot devices in this drama as with most daily dramas. My favorite thing about this drama was the cuteness of the main lead couple ^_^

Secrets upon secrets revealed one after another - lies and manipulation well along the way - struggles and pain in the way too - luckily most of this was minimized when they were announced - so we could get back to the cuteness ;)

My favorite characters: Unchan, Mugunghwa, Gachan, Dohui, Mr. Lee "gramps", Granny, Doyeong, Hong In Suk, Oh Bongja, Hyeonjeong, and Na Yeongik.
I didn't really like Bokchan and her family or Dongchan. and I really disliked Mr. Ki most of the time - he was the most frustrating and most aggravating character -_- (the only character who really stressed me out). I also really started to dislike Mr. Han by episode 80 (before that I was still passive with him).

Ki Unchan and Mugunghwa's love story was so cute ^^ I loved every scene with them in it <3 Mugunghwa was such an adorable and cute character ^_^ Unchan was such a hardworking caring son and brother who always seemed to have things bringing him down. They made such a sweet couple - and Gunghwa grew a lot in this ;)
Granny and Gramps were SOOOOO adorable together - their little bickering "romance" if I may call it so ;) It was so funny and cute how she'd always call him a bulldog and his reactions lol
Gachan was my most respected brother - he really cared for Unchan when the others pushed him away <3 That made me grow to really like him ^_^ and his struggle at becoming a lawyer and especially his Trot thing that came later in the show <3 He was also a great dad to his kid - I loved how he sat down and talked to his kid.
I admired Dohui for being such a straight-liner and honest to goodness good person - she at first came off as a bit rude but I later really started to appreciate her and like her as a character - she never let me down. She stands her ground and knows how to be a true "professional" keeping business separate from private matters.
Ms. Hong was such a sweet gentle nice lady who had no ulterior motives - she was genuinely kind (and I'm oh so glad that she didn't annoy me with her usual screeching screaming in this drama as she has in past dramas I've seen of hers).

I don't recall any actual music from the drama other than the intro song (which is just your typical daily drama cutesy intro song) and Gachan's Trot song "Only You" near the end of the drama. *'Only You' is very addictive and will get stuck in your head* lol

Overall this was a nice daily family romance drama - with only a few lagging episodes. I'd recommend it to fans of daily dramas but not people who can't stand watching something so long lol

Such a refreshing drama in terms of camera works and cinematography. I haven't watched many mystery jdramas, but usually they tend to have same kind of atmosphere, pace and suspense. However I find this one a bit different!

The director of this drama used a lot of actors expressions and camera works for telling the story and did not rely so much on the dialogs (except for information-loaded scenes). I love how the main character's psychological complex was portrayed well by Tamaki.

This is hard to explain without giving a spoiler, but I noticed that the camera panning was also used cleverly to tease the viewer, especially for the side-plot mysteries apart from the main one. Sometimes during the series, there was a long shot that made you think there must be something, but in the end it was ended abruptly like nothing important for that part. Then on the next episode, it was indeed important. Once you caught this trick, you will keep your eyes open on each episode even for trivial scenes.

I also like the settings of this drama from the crowded streets, back alleys, dirty old apartment, restaurant eating scene, until the underground HQ of the Chinese mafia, everything was done realistically amazing. Somehow it gives me the Hong Kong movies vibe in it (something with the "messy-feeling" of the atmosphere). The last jdrama I watched with this vibe was Kurokouchi.

Overall I only rated this as 8.5, because I found the last episode a bit lacking compared to the first 4. Otherwise this could be rated as 9 or even 9.5. Anyways, this is still an interesting watch. I personally recommend this for mystery drama lover and for those who want to see something different for a change.

A Drama of Growth

WARNING: Overall great story, but the last episode when they grow up is not great...I am still going to leave my review as is tho, definitely worth a watch!

This is my first time writing a drama review, I watch a lot of dramas and I usually keep to myself or maybe leave a few comments, but I think this drama is deserving of a review. I've said it before, but I'll say it again, this is definitely one of the top dramas I've watched in a long time. Some episodes leave you smiling like a fool while others leave you a sobbing mess.

Story:
A story about two quirky teachers and five (arguably six) quirky students as they tackle various issues in life to take on the biggest exam in their lives, the college entrance exam, in order to change their lives.

I am not going to elaborate too much on this plot but more of the topics focused on in this drama. This is definitely not your typical fluffy school drama, the storyline here hits on many hard topics that are honestly often considered taboo to discuss in China, including depression, domestic violence, etc. and in my opinion this drama does it well. Instead of avoiding these topics or ignoring them, we are taught what they are and ways to handle them, while these methods may not work for everyone, I will say that some have worked for me such as exercising to destress and help with anxiety.

I think family relations and depression are the two most prevalent topics within this drama. As we progress through the drama, under the guidance of Lei Ming and Sang Xia, we see that not only the kids have grown, but the parents and teachers have as well, hence why I titled this review as a drama of growth. This drama is a great example of understanding where the issues are and how to tackle them, formulating better relations in and out of school. Every single character in this drama (well besides some of the antagonist characters) has grown and become a better version of themselves as we near the end of this drama. We also see the importance of identifying depression as an illness and not brushing it off like what is often done in Chinese culture. As someone of Chinese decent, I can say that depression is often looked down upon in China and not realized as an illness... We can take Shen Yao and Zheng Qian's cases, because of how they were able to handle the cases differently the results were very different.

While depression and family matters definitely are definitely two of the key elements elaborated upon within this drama, but I don't want people to forget the small details, for example, when Sang Xia mentions it's okay for a guy to ask a guy out as well or when she taught the class on what is sexual assault. Also, did anyone notice that the opening in ep 17 changed from being the usual colored opening to black and white after Lei Ming left? The attention to detail and the effort put in by the director/producers is insane.

I do want to also mention there are a lot of time jumps in this drama, which may make the flow seem a little weird. I can see people not liking it and at first I wasn't that used to it, but I like how these time jumps piece the story together, it breaks down the story well and allows us to see why certain decisions were made due to situations that have happened in the past.

Casting:
I am a big fan of the casting and a huge fan of Zhang Ruo Yun's acting in particular (I swear anything he graces becomes a work of art). Lei Ming emits a particular aura that I can't imagine anyone else besides him getting right. The expressions and look in his eyes really radiate what his character feels and longs for/

All the main characters in this show are incredibly lovable (maybe not in the beginning but definitely as we progress through the drama). Personally, I am a big fan of Li Ran haha! I love his quite, rebellious yet caring personality, appearing rough on the outside but a total sweetheart within. The actors/actresses all did a great job portraying their characters, bring so many emotions to the audience as well, every episode is an emotional rollercoaster, whether it be a sad one or a happy one. Also the pairings are great (I swear you can almost ship any pair you want haha)! Who is your favorite character? :D

Music:
I don't love every single OST tracks, but overall the music is very fitting for the vibes of this drama and the topics discussed in this drama. Whenever there is music added to a scene, it amplifies the emotions felt during the scene. Several of the songs leave a sad aftertaste, for example, 迷了路 and Find My Shadow make me want to cry just hearing the songs and the lyrics. I would say that the OSTs give a bit of a vintage vibe, which personally I love.

Also I'm not sure if people have noticed, but based on the mood of the episode, the opening song and the closing song are different (you can check the beginning of ep 25 and 28). I am also gonna take a wild guess that we get several English songs because Lei Ming is an English teacher :P

Rewatch Value:
I think this drama actually has very high rewatch value because of all the details that are easily missed and glossed over upon the first watch. I rarely rewatch dramas, but I can definitely see myself rewatching this one over and over again. The plot and emotions never get old. I guess it would lack some of the suspense you get on the first watch, but I don't think that takes away from the drama itself.

Overall:
Two quirky teachers and five (arguably six) quirky students have created a masterpiece. I want to say this is a must watch, especially if you are a fan of slice of life/sentimental dramas. It is definitely different and fresh, you definitely will not regret watching (unless you are like me and have work...)

Thanks for reading my review :D

Same review for season 1:

This new 2020 drama is another fantasy, wuxia romance that everybody needs to watch. Typical of IQiyi productions, My Fantastic Mrs. Right, is a light hearted, well written, fantasy/wuxia drama that delivers plot-wise, production-wise, and acting wise.

The plot is well written, problems and angst are not overdrawn and resolved at a satisfying rate. The leads have great chemistry and their love story doesn’t take a long time to develop (surprise in ep3) but is still believable. The writter and director was also very generous on the kiss scenes (>.<). The romantic scenes may not be as steamy as in Eternal Love but it’s still as sweet as it can get.

For everybody looking for fantasy wuxia series, watch this as this has probably THE BEST ENDING you can hope for.

I enjoyed this show a lot and found it hard to stop watching. There were a lot of good aspects—the detailed realism (with some exceptions) about the operations of the business, most of the acting, the emotional intensity, etc. But there were a few things that really annoyed me about the show. It’s easier to criticize than to praise, so I’ll focus on the bad things, but keep in mind that overall I recommend this show.

Misleading Start. The premise looked interesting (realistic workplace drama), so I had high hopes when I started watching this. However, the drawn out Hollywood-style action chase sequence that began the show threw me for a loop, and I dropped it immediately (just like what happened with Memories of the Alhambra). Several weeks later, I decided to give it another chance, wondering if maybe that beginning didn’t accurately represent the rest of the show. It turned out to be totally misleading. If I were on the creative staff, I would have left out the entire Jordan stuff, both at the beginning and the end, because it clashes with the rest of the show. I don’t understand the intention. Someone looking for a serious office drama like me might be turned off by the action stuff at the beginning and stop watching. But someone who enjoyed that opening might be disappointed by the rest of the show.

Lead Actor. Overall the cast did a great acting job. However, the lead, Im Shi Wan was terrible. He was just a cold fish totally lacking in charisma or ability to communicate. It was hard to believe that everyone loved him so much. This may not be the actor’s fault. Maybe the director and writer wanted him to act like an inarticulate babo. If that’s the case, then his acting was perfect. But he didn’t express the drive, passion, creativity, and intelligence that his character was supposed to have. And even though his character is supposed to be boyish and naive, I thought he looked and acted more like 16 than 26. I would have preferred either Byun Yo Han or Kang Ha Neul in that role.

Repeated Scenes. This is only the 3rd K drama that I’ve watched all the way through (after Age of Youth 1-2 and Live), so I’m still learning about the genre conventions, but one major thing I’ve noticed is the overuse of repeated scenes to fill out the air time. Seriously, I would guess that maybe 1/5 to 1/4 of the entire run time consists of repeated scenes (flashbacks, important words played back in characters’ memories, etc.). This has to stop! My time is precious, and I really resent having to waste it seeing the same scenes over and over again. I had to use the skip forward button a lot, but this is imprecise. I would much rather that all that crap was just cut out and the episodes just lasted 45 mins or less. I understand with limited budgets and set airtimes that need to be filled with content, this is a standard practice, but I wish K dramas (or at least the ones I’ve watched so far) relied less on these kinds of cheap tricks.

Other Filler. Unfortunately, replayed scenes aren’t the only filler used in this show. Another way to cheaply and easily fill up airtime is to have characters run into each other 1) in the coffee/copy room, 2) break room, 3) elevator lobby, 3) on the roof, 4) in the stairwell, 5) in the garden, 6) in front of the bldg, etc., and stop and stare at each other silently for 5 mins., and then either 1) nod and walk away, 2) bow and walk away, 3) say “Jang Geu Rae Shi” and walk away, 4) say let’s get some coffee or let’s drink, 5) or if you’re lucky, one of them will say 1 sentence about something that’s going on while the other (usually Jang Geu Rae Shi) stares at the ground silently. I can’t think of a single one of these scenes that actually advances the plot, so I would cut them. The result would be a lean mean show of like half hour episodes.

Over the Top Misery and Villainy. I like shows and movies that are very realistic. And in real life, you almost never meet people who are absolutely evil all the way through. People are usually complicated and have their good sides and bad sides. The show did a good job of portraying some flawed people who still had some good sides deep down or changed during the show. However, there were several characters who were just pure evil, like the head of the resource department, Byun Yo Han’s boss, An Yeong Yi’s dad, the jealous resentful intern, the new hire who commits fraud, etc. All of these people need to die immediately. But they were hateful caricatures of evil. The show would have been much better if all these people were shown to have more complex and sympathetic sides. Also, if their abuse of the other characters was toned down and more realistic, this would have been better. I’m sure there’s lots of bullying, hazing, close-minded bureaucracy, sexism, and other kinds of discrimination and corruption in the Korean business world, but my guess is that it’s not quite as bad as depicted in Misaeng.

That’s it. Watch the show though, it’s very engaging and addictive.

When I'm looking for a movie to watch and stumbled on it by chance...I know it will be a good one..

The synopsis don't give justice to what this movie was all about...

It's a touching story of love..Between the brothers. And sons to their mother...

I really like how the characters portray...And the narration is quiet well done.

The actors..Won Bin and Shin Ha Kyun were brilliant. They are worthy of praises for their acting...

I really enjoy this movie and those near to end scenes brought me into tears.

I recommend this movie, it's worth your time:)

This is a beautiful drama and I am having withdrawal symptoms! I initially wanted to skip it think it would be too serious and slow paced. It was actually amazingly paced especially considering how many episodes are usually wasted in kdramas where they have to play the cliche games between ML, FL and any second lead. This drama was a mature romance where people said what they meant (for the most part - that happens IRL). That’s the thing. It was just so realistic!

The couple had great chemistry. I ship them for real <3

The sisters’ relationship was phenomenal and made me miss my sister.

Strong female roles, especially FL. She spoke her mind, stood up for what she believed in and didn’t put up with anybody’s bs, including her own father’s.

Every character’s acting was on point! The dialogue was written so naturally and all of the actors delivered.

I loved the little kid. In fact, I wish there was more “family” scenes because it was just so heartwarming.

I am sad it had to end and I can’t imagine finding another drama as sweet as this drama was. I seriously looked forward to every episode!

Cute and nicely made with a bit of unfulfilled potential

Semantic Error is nicely produced. There isn't much that is original about this BL, be it the enemies-to-lovers plot, the 'opposites attract' sort of romance or the problem that one party is going overseas. However, the production value is high and the computing metaphor is nicely sustained throughout.

There is nice attention to detail. I like how Sang Woo's costume changes reflect the changes in his personality, like how he stops wearing checkered shirts and then stops wearing a cap everywhere. And while the enemies-to-lovers plot may have at least one party being rather toxic, in this case, they are mostly just being childish.

While the series has been very well received, I somehow find that an additional something could have brought it to greater heights. The BL couple is likable; they look cute together and the kissing scenes are nicely shot. Yet, I can't help but feel that something more could be done about the depth of their love. We see them thinking about each other and pining for each other after they have a fight, but perhaps the complexity of each of their feelings could have been more strongly depicted. And I'm not talking about the introduction of passionate sex scenes or things like that. But when Jae Young gives Sang Woo a birthday present, for instance, perhaps the process of how he prepares the present could have been shown to show how much he really cares. Sometimes the scenes that do help to show their feelings are a little too brief. The symbolic significance of the scene in which Sang Woo looks at a picture Jae Young has drawn on his hand could have been explored more deeply. It could show Sang Woo's sadness when he thinks that Jae Young is disappearing from his life. It could also show how Sang Woo is being wistful thinking about how quickly the time he spends with Jae Young has passed although Jae Young has been a nuisance to him at first. Of course, it can also show that he is thinking of how they won't last long as a couple even if they start a relationship. Unfortunately, the scene is a little too brief to really help explore Sang Woo's thoughts and emotions fully.

The characters are people who are easy to like and care about, which is always a good thing for a BL series. However, I think I could have felt more for them if the full potential of the scenes had been fulfilled.

I watched this straight off after watching the parent series and although I wasn't particularly attached to this couple, Prince Che and Yin Cai Qian, I decided to watch it--and did not regret it! (If you haven't seen the parent series, that would be recommended before you start this.)

In fact, this spinoff made me enjoy this couple a lot more. In the original series, Prince Che was the one chasing Yin Cai Qian a lot and we saw a lot more of his perspective on how he felt about her. In this spinoff, we get to see Yin Cai Qian go through obstacles to fight for her love.

I enjoyed this premise a lot as well: entering the dream realm to help Che's 3 pains. In doing so, Cai Qian learns who Che is before he was in love with her and they go through obstacles to trust one another. Cai Qian and Che's dynamic and chemistry really carries this show. (Although I enjoy Ming Yan & Yuan Li in the original series, they are a bit stiffer in this spinoff and their scenes are not as romantic. It's unfortunate because they had a lot of potential to do more in this series.)

Cai Qian and Che's relationship has always been more lighthearted and I'm glad the spinoff took advantage of that and gave more comedy to them but also created powerful heartfelt moments between them.
