What I really enjoyed about this drama was the look at traditional Chinese lifestyle in modern China. They showed us a beautiful old house and explained old traditions that I found interesting.
The story sucked me in and kept me entertained from the first episode, and I couldn't stop watching.
The chemistry between the couple was good and their bickering amused me. I wish there was more romance in it though.
Unfortunately around episode 19 things became very dramatic and deep and the fun went out of the show ( or maybe I was just tired...I dramathoned it) and the last episode was like a Jeep commercial lol

If you want to watch something good, Chinese and interesting this is for you.

This movie is amazing! The story line is really well written, no plot holes or unnecessary boring bits. Although it's 2 hours long it flew by as it was interesting right from the start all the way till the very end. The cast did a great job, I got attached to the characters which made the movie all the more sad. It isn't all sad, its got some really cute and funny scenes too. This is definitely one of my favourite movies (including non Korean) I think most people would enjoy this movie, I really can't find a single fault in it! Deserves all the popularity and high ratings!!

Bored? Disappointed? Infuriated? Though it's hard to explain how I'm feeling right now, one thing is sure: Conspiracy in the Court definitely didn't live up to my expectations.

In France, there is this expression "brasser du vent" and I think this idiom fits this drama like a glove. All the characters do is talk but all this talking is just fruitless words.
Also the "plot twists" are obvious to the point that it's annoying (and let me tell you I'm usually a very gullible viewer).
The main problem however isn't the story itself but the characters, especially the main ones. When I first read the summary of the drama and of its three main characters, I was thrilled but then I watched the first episode and I felt betrayed. Where the hell were the characters I was rooting for? You know something is wrong when the main couple is the thing you despise the most about the drama and something was clearly wrong because from the start I was just waiting for the two to die and to stop annoying me with their presence on screen, hoping they would die sooner than later was actually the only thing that excited me about this drama. A white blank page would be more layered than these characters. Let's not forget that the writers kept trying to shove the male lead's greatness down my throat but they didn't bother showing me why. The writing was clearly not strong enough to carry the show on its own so why didn't the people behind the casting make a better job?

Overall the acting was rather good but the main two actors didn't fit their characters nor did they manage to make me -the viewer- care about them. On the contrary, even if I wanted to love the characters, everytime I saw the actors on my screen, I was plainly annoyed. Also there was not even a spark of chemistry between them. The leads should be able to carry a show but these two just dragged it down.

The soundtrack however is a little gem. It is a candy for the ears as well as perfectly fitting the mood -overall sad- of this drama. Song of the Sun and the Moon is definitely one of my favourite things about this drama, if not the only thing I truly enjoyed.

I don't think I will ever rewatch this drama, it was already painful enough watching it once, why even bother watching it twice? The only reason I see would be for "historical" purpose. And even that....meh.

I don't know if Conspiracy in the Court is overrated or if the romance prevented me from truly enjoying it but one thing is clear if you don't think Romeo & Juliet and Hamlet would be a great crossover, just don't watch it (I have to admit that I just can't stand the R&J vibes).

Let me as an intro say that I did enjoy watching this short drama. But I do have some complicated feelings about it. Even though I did like it (like many people would), I also noticed a LOT of things that had the ability to be improved.

SHORT VERSION
Good story, I like that the guy is dressed as up as a girl, for once.
Acting/Cast is okay, but the girl is too young for the part I think. But I also think she was the best actor. She was the one who was best at expressing emotions while acting. And the guy who was supposed to look like a girl, indeed looked like a girlish-faced guy (with a masculine body) with a wig.
The music is kpop!:D
I enjoyed watching this a lot, but the feeling afterwards was and is a lot different. Looking back, it lacked a lot. This drama had a lot of potential, so hopefully, someone will be inspired to make something similar (and longer)

STORY
Even though cross dressing isn't original (the reason it didn't get 10 points), I have a weakness when it comes to it. And if you like cross dressing dramas, this is a must watch because we always see the girl as a boy, not opposite like in this. In this short drama, I don't find anything out of the place.

ACTING/CAST
I don't complain about the acting (I never notice bad acting while watching dramas/movies, only "over acting" - sometimes it is acceptable, sometimes it's not. The "over acting" in 'Ma Boy' by Tae Joon, fit his character, so I'm okay with it.), but I still feel that some of the cast could be changed. Even though I did like the acting of the character Jang Geu Rin (Kim So Hyun), I think she was too young for the character. 12 years old? Is that why we don't see too intimate moments? x) I missed that...

When Sun Woong (who is goodlooking *-*) acted as Irene, he lacked a lot of... femininity. He could have practiced a lot more "girly walking", for instance. (Like when Yoon Eun Hye practiced male traits, like walking, before acting in Coffee Prince.)

Last mention about the acting (it could also be the script writer). I really missed some feelings. I felt like this drama was just... a story, barely any emotions but into it. The main actress (who I complained about being a 12 year old) was the one I felt nailed it the most, actually.

MUSIC
About the music? You like kpop, right? I know I do! I have to include this somewhere: The scene when Jang Geu Rim performed Twinkle by TaTiSeo... That was... bad. She just stood there doing nothing.

REWATCH VALUE
I barely feel like rewatching dramas, because it takes a lot of time, and there are plenty of other dramas to watch. But since this is so short, it isn't impossible for me to watch it again. But I probably won't. Why? As already mentioned, this drama lacked emotions. Yeah, there was some, but I wished it was much more.

OVERALL
It felt like a mix between a drama and a movie. I really dislike Korean movies (not all of them, but most of the ones I've seen), because they seem to rush everything hastily, with no emotions (they obviously don't have time for that "nonsense"). I felt some tingling in my chest at some parts, but not that much. But it do have some very fun parts. I did like Tae Joon's character, and the two trios who root for Tae Joon and Irene.

If you're looking for a lighthearted and short drama, watch this. If you're looking for some huge "kyaaaah" and sweet moments, look somewhere else.

But it was, in fact, a cute drama.

Still giving it a 6, though. Lol. But it was close to 7, but while writing this, I somehow changed my mind. But while watching it, I would probably give it a 8, because, like already mentioned, I enjoyed WATCHING this drama. But afterwards, I don't feel anything (those dramas and movies that makes you think about them for days because it was good, those are more than good - they're great. I know dramas that I felt was okay while watching, but like masterpieces when they're done).

I hope that someone will make something similar to this, but as a drama. That is something I would watch.

This drama special was really really good!
Story: about a man going through the investigation period of a homicide - what really happened, who was all involved...so many questions - it had a great pace to it and it was put together very nicely - the lead actor did a great job in portraying someone who has psychological traumas - I really felt bad for his character :'(
This is a great drama special - I would highly recommend people to watch this - you won't be disappointed :) - I watched it on YT via KBSworld
Re-watch value: 9.0/10 - I would definitely re-watch this special someday - my eyes were fixed on the screen the whole time!

Story: It started out with the standard one case per 2 episodes formula but slowly evolved into something quite different. Bit by bit all of the puzzles fit towards literally the final 15 mins of the entire drama when it's all revealed. It'll keep you guessing but me...meh... knew who the big baddie was a while ago!...Thanks to my over 30 years of drama watching! But to those of you who are not a seasoned investigative drama viewer, you'll be guessing all the way to the finale. This is another great example of how having a story from a popular novel adapted into a drama can be a success. The storyline is the absolute strength of this drama. Add to it the witty and mature conversations between the characters, an international cast of actors and actresses, international locations, tri-lingual conversations (Mandarin, English & Cantonese) that depicts actual real-life manner of how multi-lingual ppl communicate (yay! no dubbing!) and quality production and you'll get a gem of a drama. This is something that does not come your way often. If you like mystery, thriller and romance - you'll definitely love this drama. If you do not usually go into the mystery and thriller genre (like me), you'll still find this drama a breath of fresh air and definitely worth your time. What it does is re-awaken my interest for more thriller, mystery and investigative dramas (which I kind of grown tired of since the late 1990s) and I am browsing around for the next fix!

Acting/Cast: Superb cast overall but I find that FBI guy who speaks in a thick South African English accent a bit annoying coz he's the only one not speaking in American English and yet goes around in the role of an American FBI agent (a mis-cast?). The lady playing Susan was great and I hope she'll hit it big in Hollywood in the future. The other actors in the US side are passable but not great. The Chinese cast are obviously the ones shining in this drama here.

Music: Most of its OSTs are instrumental and fits the sophisticated, modern and mystery feel of the drama. The ending OST however is hauntingly beautiful and its lyrics accurately depicts the emotion part of the drama (the relationship between the main couple).

Overall: It is not always you find a gem amongst all the dramas produced throughout the years and decades of Asian entertainment. Once in a while, you find one at a place you didn't think to find. I've always followed Chinese dramas but mostly for historical and wuxia series, seldom for their modern series as I think the quality of chinese modern series are beneath that of Japan and Korea but this drama here is an exception when it comes to modern chinese investigative series made by mainland Chinese (not HK which has an excellent track record for investigative modern dramas). I am surprised and impressed and read from a blogger earlier today how there are fans of this drama who wanted more than 24 episodes and are hoping for a Season 2. Well...I sure hope to see more of Bo Jin Yan if possible but apprehensive about Season 2s as they normally do not perform as well as their predecessors. As for those of you who are hesitating, don't...just watch it and I'm sure you'll not regret this decision!

so...you did all that for what?

this was a strange one. i watched it purely because i like park min young and i've never seen seo kang joon act. i wasn't necessarily disappointed since i had no expectations, but it was just too boring for my tastes. i watched it less than a week ago but i feel like i can't remember anything other than beating around the bush.

it's a very cute story but i think i'm too gruesome or something. i expected his sister to get kidnapped since they kept on showing her riding at night. i quickly learned that this is just a cute drama about a small town love. that being said, even though it's cute...it's kinda not that great. park min young was cute and great, that's what we expect from her, but the plot didn't offer much. it just didn't offer much. her family dynamic was so whatever that that's how i felt eventually

slice of life to the bone. give it a try if you like love. they seem to do that

i will say that they did a good job casting the mom and aunt. those actresses looked identical and i kept on getting them mixed up. so yay, they look related. i just think it's interesting how much everyone said they're beautiful when the mom looked kinda...average (maybe a lil botched)?

Too optimistic for their own good

To be honest, when I look back again on why did I even stick around with this drama, I can't explain it really well. But I sometimes would pick up this kind of slice-of-life drama to watch while airing because it's a good palate cleanser amidst all the other heavy dramas I am watching

But, this drama turned out to be too optimistic, that it became stupid. I notice the pattern of this drama from the start, where they will encounter a conflict that will be settle in such a simple way; with few motivation words and encouragement, with the use of courage and passion. It is the typical positive drama that should have made you feel like everything will turn out okay

Well, they're just too much. And this drama turned ridiculous with what they decide on how to handle Sin Dae Ryuk's storyline. From the start I already predict they will not handle his problem really well because for so many episodes, the breakdown and panic attacks that Dae Ryuk faced are not handled well at all from any of them, especially Ma Eum who should've been the first to realize that Dae Ryuk has a serious mental health problem. Again, the drama is too positive that they even make mental health capable to disappear just like that over some few words

But it get worse, when they decide to pull a plot twist on Sin Dae Ryuk's trauma and made it all a misunderstanding, turning abuse into an act of love and turning an evil abusive mother into a sympathetic mother with serious illness, all in just one episode. That plot alone, along with how they buildup Dae Ryuk's character arc for so many episodes only to crumble him apart like that, made this drama turn from a 7.5 to a 5.5 real fast for me.

And honestly, the WebToon team claimed to care for their artist, but now that I look back, they only care for the comic that those artist are creating, not the people themselves. As I mentioned, too optimistic for their own good, too much of positive vibe and the 'everything will be sunshine and rainbow' made this drama feels so stupid.

I guess after midnight runners, I was expecting too much out of girl cops.

The movie had a strong cast, with two strong female leads that had nice chemistry. They delivered both on the emotional level and on the action level, which was probably the best part of the movie.

However, the plot, although it seemed strong at first, it was not presented well enough. That felt like they were degrading the whole mystery and crime case to a more simple one when it wasn't.

So, overall, four out of ten.

Boring, cold, emotionless.

I'm surprised at myself for finishing  this. It's hard to describe what went wrong here. The drama failed in so  many ways. The team never connected on a deeper base, the cases were  interesting in their core but the writing and execution sucked. It was  never able to build enough suspense to make me excited/worried/eager to  watch more.

Don't get me wrong. Some of the individual cases  were pretty gruesome and interesting (and I was shocked how violent they made them look) than what I would expect from a  k-drama. But most times it still left me cold because the writers extended the investigation part way too much while (at the same time) were still not able to explain the profiling part in a comprehensible  and gripping way. It felt like getting food thrown at your face.

The cast 'looked' amazing but their roles were written rather poorly and appeared choppy. If this would have been my first drama with those actors and actresses, I wouldn't be interested in any other drama they starred in. Dialogues  sounded boring, the tone of each voice was always the same monotone  sound which lulled me into sleep. Some of the background music were not  helping either. I missed emotions so much here. And I missed those tiny personal  interactions between the leads. A wink, a look, some short random remarks. I don't know.  They sounded like a bunch of people who  successfully memorized their texts... Which is why I couldn't connect to  any of them. They were so one-dimensional.  I admit that sometimes it  looked like they tried to be more, but... well, it wasn't enough.

They did have some kind of steadiness: Constant  stagnation.

And what ending was that? The finale felt flat. Most times I'm quite satisfied with the main villains in dramas. But this one? Nope. There are actors who are able to pull off EVERY damn role they are given, even the bad ones. And they are able to shine in even those. And then there are actors who only suit certain characters. The actor for the main villain in this show failed to impress me - solely because his acting and his appearance together failed to capture an otherwise intriguing figure.

I'm familiar with the original series this one is based on, but I'm not a regular follower. Though occasionally I watch one or two episodes once in a while. And I have to admit that I'm more satisfied with their cases than I was with this show, even though I'm not deeply connected with the leads in the US version either. The reason why I stick with the show when I stumble upon it while zipping through the channels is because I am glued to one special bond between two of the leads. And because their cases feel more compact which leads to a more intriguing investigation. Well, if I want to, I can go into more detail but I think I made my point clear.

So sad this failed to reach my expectations. I so wish I could say something positive as well, but there's nothing I can think of. Everything that started out good/interesting became rather boring quite quickly because they stretched the developing process too far, didn't show crucial details in the leads' behavior/facial expressions and slow/dull scene editing...

But I did like the ending song!

I'll save you the hardship of reading my review, if you're looking for a true romantic BL, skip this.
If you're looking for a comedy that for some reason has BL then here you go.

This is something better seen in manga form: http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/docchi_mo_docchi

This type of story-line requires a completely divergence fro reality, the entire premise is ridiculous in reality.
Two "tops" working in the same company but have never met, meet. Ozaki; handsome and cool, Tsuburaya; beautiful and smart. During their first meeting the boss of the company refers to them as the, "two tops of the company," this is the strangest use of the word top in either meaning, because there is always one top, which they both then argue.
(I do not believe they meant top as in Seme in this situation, because Tsuburaya stated that he has, "... no interest in men". In what context does he mean he is a "top" then?)

I was unsure what to put for the acting rating, because the acting is good considering what the original inspiration was. They are doing exactly as was done in the manga. The issue is, what is done in manga is considered overacting. Throughout the entire movie they are playing for the background and do things that do not make sense.
Ex. In many situation Ozaki does ???  to Tsuburaya (Kabe ? meaning Wall, Don ?? is the SFX used in manga when something hits something else) Kabedon is essentially the trope in anime/manga where the male protagonist hits the wall behind the girl he is trying to be romantic with.  It would be fine if they did it, but only if it made sense. Ozaki does Kabedon to Tsuburaya even when Tsuburaya is not against a wall, on multiple occasions Ozaki just hits a random wall and Tsuburaya just decides to move to lay against that wall.
Again, acting for the back row 100%. But they are using inspiration from a manga...

I would not re-watch this, the cringe is really strong. This is something you watch for the meme of it all.

Worth watching! But 5th episode is a no from me.

I won't spoil you too much with my review.

I would say that the series is worth watching. The actors did a good job. There is a new main character in every episode & every episode has its own story.

I like how in episode 1 the main character is done with his classmates bossing him around and at the end he gets his revenge. I knew that he had some plan because you could really see when you looked at him that his personality is changing... or maybe this is not the correct word, maybe I should rather say that you could really see that he is reaching his breaking point and it's only a matter of time when he will explode.
However I have a little criticism about this episode. I think ghost effect looks a little bit laughable and not scary at all.

In episode 2 I only wish I'd see some real tears from the actress, since it looks like she is regretting what she did out of jealousy, but I can just hear sounds of crying... and tears are nowhere to be seen. Also be prepared if you are like me and you hate seeing feet. You will be seeing feet a lot :(

I think people can relate to episode 3. Every day we hear what's beautiful and what's not beautiful. And I'm pretty sure everyone wished to be more beautiful than they are (in real life even the ones that are pretty by society standards still wish for something that they can't have). This episode reminded me of people obsessing over idols looks. And also "throwing away" their favorite idols when their looks change (either plastic surgery, weight or just their style) one day they were everything to their obsessed fans, the next day they're nothing when more beautiful person comes along. It was interesting episode and it was interesting to see how far these girls will go to become more beautiful.

4th episode also had some realism in it. You try to help others and tell what happened but then you also get in trouble with bullies. I would say that the ghosts and demons looked really great in this episode, and this makes me wonder why the ghost effect was that bad in the first episode. But I hated the wigs because they looked very fake.

In 5th episode I didn't like "the headless teacher" at the very beginning. The teacher acts more like you would act in a comedy... In previous episodes there were a lot of shady characters, you just knew that there was something wrong with them and they were suspicious to you, which was amazing. So this totally ruined the vibe of the series to me. Such acting just didn't fit into this series. I know the actor had such directions... and I would like such acting if this was comedy but it wasn't. I watched the start on 1.5x speed because I just couldn't watch this any longer. I was only at 11 minute mark and I was already so done with this episode. Comedic acting from everyone... yet this is not a comedy. And it didn't get any better. It was bad till the end. I hated every single second of it. And even when I was watching on 1.5x speed it seemed so long... it's like I watched 3 episodes instead of one.

I was really glad when 6th episode was finally normal again. I expected the old lady to have the missing body part of her son in that white cloth (when the cook mentioned missing body part I knew right away that whatever was wrapped in that cloth. So yes it was a bit predictable but still a great episode.) I did not expect that the school boy will actually kill an animal so he could prove his point. Great acting from everyone, I loved the old cooking lady.

Even though there was already theme about bullying in the series 7th episode was still great. There is nothing much to say other than the acting was good. The boy went from scared to pretty much "insane" when he realized that his wish came true.

8th episode was the best out of all of them. Even though all of them (except the 5th episode) were great, the last one was truly amazing. It was very touching at the end and yes I got tears in my eyes. It was a masterpiece.

The scariest things in this series are not ghosts, blood, death, suicide but what people do when they reach their breaking point when people bully them every day. Doing things out of jealousy as soon as they hear something and they don't even try to confirm if what someone told them is even true or not. Obsessing over other people and forgetting your worth.

Was I scared watching the series? No. But I have been watching horror movies since I was a kid. But it's worth watching. Even if you're not freaked out by ghosts, blood etc.

I think I could totally re-watch this series when a lot of time passes and I have nothing better to watch. But I would never watch episode 5 again.

Ok so I just finished watching this movie a few minutes ago. I'm still crying >.<
So I want to be objective, but how can I be when there's Song Joong Ki staring in this movie ;) ok I'm joking ;)

I think that director of this movie made a good decision to get the story line from present to past and back to present...This way the story isn't that boring and the people who are watching the movie wants to know what really happened at the end :)
The roles that were pleayed by Song Joong Ki and Park Bo Young were fantastic! Od course someone else can have a different opinion, but for me they were really great played. It's not easy for an Actor to play a role without speaking but Joong Ki portrayed his character really well. I was really thinking if he's a wolf ^^
Maybe I didn'y write that much and my English can be off but I would give this movie 10/10 for everything...There wasn't a single thing that I didn't like....and even though at the ending I was crying like a little child I liked the ending...I did also laugh pretty often watching this movie :) S
So I really recomend this movie to everyone :)
Hope they will make eng sub soon :) I will surely watch it again :)

I am BIG fan of my sweetheart Kang Dong Won and i will support him in anything he is but why he always breaks my heart?!

Story:
The plot is great and it shows the people that there are such horrible cases as the sickness the main boy had. Our Dong Won played amazing father and he was simply...amazing. I think every kid should have such amazing father as he was. The emotion he showed me..i just couldn't watch it without any tears. The story whole is so beautiful that i have no words for it.

Acting:
Great. All actors did amazing job.

Rewatch value:
Since first time i didn't rewatch it because i don't want to cry but it's too beautiful so i will rewatch it rght now :)
