For this year's challenge, we have chosen the theme animals. While this affects our choice of words, it is just for fun. However, understanding the wording used in the challenge may come in handy:

Essential: Title

Route: Prompt that describes the traits your Essential (title) must have

Habitat: a group of 5 routes

Treat: An extra route that you can use as a substitute when neither choice of route feels right for you.

This year's challenge is a little bit like a game where you collect essentials (watch dramas) by following a chosen route (descriptions) to gain access to a habitat (group of essentials). The more habitats you gain access to, the more animals you will find (levels you'll complete). Once you have gained access to all the habitats in one stage, you can move on to the next stage where you move to finding animals in a different setting.

We would like to be clear about a few of this year's routes. Some of them will take you down a dark, dark road... This is because we want to make way for these stories. HOWEVER, no matter what level or stage you choose to complete, all dark routes are OPTIONAL. All habitats (with the exception of #25, Countries of MDL) will give you two choices of routes to find each essential, and we have made sure a dark route is always accompanied by a lighter route to choose from.

1. Start by completing the titles that match the route of your choice from any one of the Habitats within the challenge (you must complete 5 titles per habitat, one per choice of route).

2. After that you will have to complete a second one to reach the level “Plains Korean Crow.” Now you have watched enough to participate in the challenge and can theoretically turn in your application HERE if you do not want to add anything more! Congratulations!

3. If you do want to reach a higher level than “Plains Korean Crow,” just keep adding as many Habitats as you want/can until you reach your goal and/or the date is December 31, 2023.

4. It is enough to complete two Habitats to complete this challenge.

5. You cannot "complete" the whole challenge (well, not without watching every title from every single country on the MDL website in a single year!) as it is a circuit and therefore never-ending.

6. You may choose any of the Habitats within the challenge as well as complete them in any order you would like.

7. Feel free to choose a Badge to add to your profile or create your own!

In other words: Start off at Plain Korean Crow and work your way toward the Black Hole Elephant and beyond by counting the numbers of Habitats you have completed by December 31st.

Bonus: Complete titles from all the countries found on MDL to receive a Tiger Badge.

So many choices...

1. Choose ONE of two routes to find a title that fills an essential

2. Add 5 Essentials: Watch 5 titles matching 5 Routes in the Habitat of your choice. You can also choose to use a treat to complete the habitat.

3. You must watch the entire title within the period of January 1-December 31, 2023, no matter when you join the challenge.

4. Each essential (title you watch) can only be used ONCE in the whole challenge.

5. You can add the essentials in any order you want and move them around until you turn in your entry.

6. To complete a Level and obtain access to the animal of your choice, you must complete the number of habitats stated in the table below: 2 habitats for the Plains Korean Crow, 29 for the Forest Blue Magpie etc...

7. To compete a Stage (Plains, Forest, etc.), you must obtain access to all the animals and start over in the new environment.

8. For each stage you enter just add a number in the same square.

As this year is a limitless challenge, if you do happen to complete more than 125 blocks/ 635 titles in 2023, we will of course add more stages.

Each Treat can only be used ONCE in the challenge.
You may use as many treats as you want per Habitat, but remember you only have a limited number of treats determined by the environment you have reached.
You will create the treat routes all on your own, and you may use anything NOT covered in this challenge. You may also go to previous years' challenge prompts for inspiration.
Every time you start a new stage, you will be awarded a new number of treats according to the table below.

We do not check your challenge entries, but the community will and will let us know if your choices did not qualify. We cannot watch every title everyone chooses.

Here is the 2022 Hall Of Fame. We update the hall of fame as people turn in their forms, So DO NOT turn in until you are completely done with the challenge. We will try to have the Hall of fame updated completely by the first week in February 2024, but we are human, and things happen in our lives, too.

The First Responders (2022) Six Flying Dragons (2015) is one of the longest dramas I have ever managed to watch, what's even more of a feat is that it is a political drama. I find political dramas really difficult to watch so its fair to say it's one of my favourites. With that being said both dramas share Shin Kyung Soo as their director and both dramas were really fun to watch. So I will be looking out for more dramas directed by him.		28/09/2023
